He is an 84 year old gentleman that purchased the car new at Van Etta Motors on Van Ness Ave in San Francisco. He purchased it for the some of $3,022.19 including tax on March 12, 1951. I have attached a copy of the original bill of sale in the photos. The car is black with a factory custom beige mohair interior, wide white wall tires, rear fender skirts, radio, heater, grill guards, 3 speed overdrive trans mission and under-seal. This automobile has been meticulously maintained. In 1999 he had the interior redone as original, suspension rebuilt, engine rebuilt, car was completely rewired to original 6 volt and braking system rebuilt. All work on this automobile has been professionally done and he still has many of the original receipts. It has been garage kept in San Francisco since he purchased it and never driven on salted roads. The undercarriage is in very nice condition and no rust on this beauty. The engine was rebuilt at about 90,000 miles and they turned back the odometer at that time. It now shows 5,091 miles. most of the works was done around the same time. It shows beautifully and drives just as well. There are minor scratches in the paint, The chrome is great and everything seems to work fine including the radio an gauges. The car was in a minor fender bender on the right front back in 1956. Other than that it has never been in any accidents. This is probably one of the nicest original 1 owner 1951 Mercury available. Please take care of everything prior.Inspections are welcome. - Original Unchopped 1951 Mercury - California Car - **with 1951 plates- Car is Black with Custom Flames, it's a older paint job and still definitely a head turner- 3 on the tree manual transmission (does have a boxed shifter opening on the floor, someone prior to me had another transmission installed)- Professionally paint detailed 09/15/16- To my knowledge all of the body panels are original to the car, there is only surface rust on the chassis, floorboards are solid. There is a small 4x2 section of rust on the passenger side lower fender area but is otherwise solid. For sale is my daily driver a 1968 mercury cougar that has been mostly restored. Originally Olive Green color. It has the original 302/ 4bbl engine with Edelbrock 500 carb and manifold. Transmission is C4 which was rebuilt 5 years ago. It has 3:00 gears and 8' rear. Car is mostly stock except it has long tube headers, electronic ignition and glasspacks. It has the original vacuum motors for the headlights which does go up but not down. Rear brake pads do need to be replaced and currently has about 3mm pad left on each side. At idle the motor has a vacuum of 18 psi. Almost everything inside the interior works except the A.C system which the car did come from factory with it but has been removed since I purchased this car. It has power steering as well. Interior has been painted gloss black. Recently, I have been having a hard time rolling up the driver side window from daily use and the rear quarter window on the passenger side does not go down anymore. All the exterior and interior chrome is original so it does have scratches and some pitting. Hood scoop and rear spoiler are repos and were installed from previous owner. 15X7 front and 15x8 rear Cragar wheels does have oxidation and been painted dark gray. Drives nice and straight especially at high speeds. The doors do have some misalignment and steering wheel is a bit off center when driving. The windshield wiper fluid works and the wipers as well. The starter on the transmission could be replaced since sometimes there is some cranking issues especially when its very cold outside but the engine does turn over. From the looks of it the engine does not seem to be rebuilt but it runs great with no issues and all the valve seals have been replaced. Mostly the bad thing I would say about this car is the paint job which was done from the previous owner and has been fading over time. Rear chrome bumper does need some straightening. The car does have a salvage title. Just recently I drove the car a little over 100 miles in one day on the freeway with no problems. All in all this car out in public gets looks and compliments. All of these items are new or rebuilt and are about 1-5 years old.
