1951 Mercury 2 door Coupe Old School Custom not Chopped (Body off frame build) We are selling this very kool old school 51 for a friend & customer and I can tell you this one is a keeper. It is a true So Cal car and I personally have known of it from local car shows for well over 2 decades and its one of the solidest Mercs I have worked on and I have done a few over the decades. This 51 DRIVES VERY SMOOTH & HANDLES EXTREMELY WELL as it sets on our Extreme Cruiser Frame with our Air Ride Suspension. It lays frame and will stay lifted when parked for many days on end as they should. Oh it's no slug as it's got a very fresh 385hp SBC coupled to a fresh built turbo 350 trans with a mild stall converter. In the rear it has a big strong 9" Ford Axle, Power steering, Power Brakes, Custom gauge panel and all new wiring, New radiator, Front disk brakes with large rear drums, The White Wall tires are like new. Ton's of custom body mod's are already done so it would not take much to make this one into a high end big dollar full Kustom or just enjoy driving it as is. This Merc is a Turn Key Freeway Flyer and if it was legal and you wanted to you could cruise it at 90 mph coast to coast. The interior is older but still fairly nice and very very comfortable. All the glass is good as is the stainless trim. It's only painted in a black primer but it sure gets allot of looks and thumbs up. Radical Custom 1951 Mercury 2 door CoupeDesigned by Rick Erickson owner of Extreme KustomsThis frame off custom build started off with a hard to find supersolid Ca desert car. To start the build this car was totallydisassembled and every stock body panel or part used in this build wasmedia blasted, inspected and repaired if required and then sealed in anself etching zinc epoxy. Ricks goal was to build a knock your socks offShow Stopped yet truly be able to drive it comfortably like a modernsports coupe. We had no budget to hold us back but from many decades ofreal hands on experience we decided to rework the stock mercury frame even thoughmercury had done a great job with their stock factory frame. We installed an upgraded 1980 Trans Am frontsuspension clip and added bigger Willwood disc brakes, A big 1.375sway bar and big 7 air bags for a superior ride. In the rear weinstalled a 1968 Camaro 12 bolt posi with Willwood disc brakes, ChrisAustin parallel 4 link with a pan hard bar so we would not have torework the rear seat floor, U notched the frame and installed 6 airbags. We mocked the suspension up with 20 wheels %26 tires to make sureit would lay frame with these bigger wheels some are starting to like.For a motor we installed a rebuilt Ford DOCH V8 coupled to an Aodautomatic transmission. Now the frame was the easy part but not sofor the all thecustom body mods. There is over 1,800 hr of just custom metal fab done to the body. Most noticeable is Ricks supper SleekFast Back Chop with the B pillar removed and the 1951 rear windowreplaced with a 1950 merc, The hood has been extended %26 peaked with Sscoops plus made into a full wrap around, The rear fenders have beenextended and slightly sectioned with custom made tail lights,Removable lower fenders / skirts, Custom made rear bumper apron andsplit bumpers, Custom made teardrop headlights, Custom made frontbumper apron and spilt bumpers, Custom made grill opening and splitVett grill and theres more . For the interior it has a customwraparound dash in to the door caps all the way to the rear packagetray and back up front into a center console back into the dash, Powerwindow regulators %26 new style door latches installed, Power trunklatch, Tilt steering column. Power brake unit with modern under dashpedals installed.
