Mercedes-Benz Classics 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster This factory white (050) over black interior 190SL roadster is in superb condition. The seats were redone and a new soft top was installed about 4 years ago. Everything else is original! The car runs, drives and brakes like a new car! One of the best examples of an original classic that you’ll find in the world! Click to enlarge any of the photos below. The body is totally rust free with its entire undercarriage in original condition, also completely rust free and never been undercoated or painted! All body parts and panels are 100% original, though body appears to be partially re-sprayed. The gaps for the hood, trunk and doors are simply perfect! The trunk floor is beautiful and original and has also never been re-sprayed! All the chrome on this car is in really good condition and never been re-chromed! As most serious car collectors say, it's original only once. This car is so original that the front grille has never even been removed; the wings are still held with its original 9mm nuts and original washers! All 8 hood bolts that hold the hood also appear to never have been removed, which is an amazing thing to find these days. Pictures of the undercarriage support our understanding of the car’s history, i.e. it has always been driven in good weather. The engine and engine bay have been preserved in the most original state that we have seen over the last 40 years, almost like new, in fact, with its original Solex carburetors! Its carburetion is simply perfect and untouched; something that’s so incredibly rare to see today! The car includes all its original stickers and booklets! Condition and History This gorgeous and recent restored example of this matching # 60’ Mercedes Benz 190SL ROADSTER with its original smooth running SOLEX carbs on this exceptional attractive color combination was driven by the last owner for the last 36 years only on sunny weekends. This unique Mercedes that was hand built in Germany has been meticulously cared for and fully maintained. The 3rd owner purchased the SL from the 2nd owner 36 years ago and restored it step by step within that time. Last recent update includes: New original carpet, new leather interior, new white wall tires, engine bay detail, serviced the engine and SOLEX carbs incl. new water pump and most of the hoses. The chrome all over the car has been rebuilt or replaced and shines like new. This SL comes with a black soft top, the original restored instrument cluster incl. the very desirable original working KIENZLE clock. This roadster has a refurbished original matching #'s engine with ORIGINAL 64,400 miles and matching #s transmission. The floors are still in its original uncut condition. The leather interior incl. seat springs were replaced recently and are in great condition with no rips or tears. The vehicle has been professionally stripped and repainted in this attractive midnight blue met. color and looks outstanding. There is a very small almost unrecognizable scratch on the right front fender. There are no signs of rust and the body is strait, solid and extremely presentable. The doors close nicely with the right sounds and perfect jambs with no extra effort. The trunk has the 2 rubber mats, a spare wheel, jack and right tool in the trunk. The soft top has no rips and closes flawlessly and all the seals on the top, doors, windows, trunk etc. have also been replaced. The rebuilt engine is extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil pressure and no oil leaks, the transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool and it does not smoke or leak oil and the brakes, suspension and tires are superb. The differential makes no sound and is still tight as the overall driving experience with this Mercedes. Just the look of it and the driving feeling tells you that in the last 36 years the excessive amount of $$$ spent on restoration, repairs, maintenance und updates are justified.
