This 190sl was delivered to its first owner in 1961 in Northern NJ, Mercedes, order #17140406. He drove it about 60,000 miles before he did a complete offsite restoration. The car was disassembled, the body was sent to a shop in Michigan for a full frame and body panel restoration. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by a leading NJ Mercedes specialist, a new high end tan top was fitted, all instruments were rebuilt, a new tan leather interior was fitted, and the car was painted a beautiful fire-engine red (DB534). (I have all receipts which go with the car). The second owner, a car collector in Northern NJ, bought the car with about 61000 miles, stored the car in a heated garage and drove it to car shows and the country club and put approximately 2000-2500 miles on the car. It was driven continuously, but sparingly. I bought the car in 2013 from the car collector. The car went through a nine month refresh. This included brake system overhaul with new parts, fuel system overhaul, including newly rebuilt original Solex carburators, fuel pump, gas tank. New radial tires, with the same size as original, were added. A new gel battery with original tar top look and original battery label was put in the car. The car was tuned. The paint was polished to bring up the beautiful look. The underside of the car was painted to match the correct 'Mercedes flat gray' (DB169) with which it left the factory. A new windshield was fitted. See the pictures. Everything works, and the car needs nothing but a new owner who will love it's beautiful lines and excellent performance. The original radio, original windup clock, push button windshield washer, and all other electrics work perfectly. The car comes with original Mercedes factory jack and toolkit, original owners manual and owners parts book. It also has the original key set with the Mercedes key fob and a spare set of keys. All receipts from the earlier restoration are in a binder and are included in the sale. In addition, all receipts from the 2013-2104 refresh are in a binder and are included. The car needs nothing, has no rust, is kept in a garage and has no known flaws. It starts up instantly, it runs great, and everyone waves, it is gorgeous. The current owner is an active member of the International 190sl Club, and has put love and attention into making this 190sl the best it can be. 100% of payment due within 7 days of buying it, via wire transfer or certified check. Once the money clears I will release the car and sign the title. If you plan to ship the car via transport company, I will assist them in loading it up from my garage. Be the first to see this fine example of Mercedes-Benz craftsmanship. Silver champagne with burgundy interior. The car is in excellent condition, with original leather seats that look new with no cracks. All components are in excellent condition: powered windows, ice cold air conditioning has been converted, fog lights, and an outside temperature indicator. All seats are original. Canvas soft top is in excellent condition just like new. Other than a few minor road chips, light scratches, wheels scuffs, etc, the car is in great shape. It was owned by a non-smoker, and kept in garage. Factory glass all around. Mechanically sound, the transmission shifts smoothly. Four new Mercedes-Benz Biltstein shocks have been replaced recently. Please if you have any interest in this nice sl500 please call ,i have had alot of people hiding behind there emails and wasting every ones time THANKS I have a nice sl500 roadster, i have owned this car for the last 3 years, and am selling it because i bought a newer one with less mileage (just trying to get some money back,because i know what i payed for the new one) This car runs and drives very well and the top works perfect, push and hold the button and 16 seconds later the hard top is folded up in the trunk (nice) It has brand new tires all around, and i had new abc struts and shocks installed about 2 years ago$$$$ , the abc system goes up and down nice with NO abc lights on the dash ,, and also NO check engine lights or other lights on the dash. This is a great driving car but not a show room car ,,it is used,,, not new,, so it does have some imperfections, such as paint chips ect.,,like any other used car ( not bad but just wanted to say) This was all most $100k in 2003, they made only 2000 or so Designo series which were the first ones (r230) body style and has designo silver paint with alcanterra head liner very sharp combination ( looks great) This car just had a fresh oil change and also new pa inspection good for a year,,,with the lower mileage It is ready for a new owner to drive any where with confidence. I can also help with shipping or I have a truck and trailer so maybe i can deliver for the right price,,It will have to be payed for in advance before anything leaves my house. Great shape Mercedes Benz 380SL Hardtop convertible ready for summer cruising ready. Turn the key and go. Who doesn't love a Mercedes Benz roadster. I put a lot of time and work into this car recently and hate to let it go, but it needs to go to someone who has a passion for these cars and will drive it. Owning two antique cars doesn't work for me, so I am selling this one as I rarely drive it.This car is road ready to go. I purchased this car in Florida from an elderly person that had had it since it was 2 years old. The car was solid, but had been rarely driven the last 10 to 15 years due to the owners age. Previous maintenance on this car was done at Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale or Palm Beach. This car is a great handling roadster whether on the winding, twisting roads of the Berkshires & Vermont or flying down a Turnpike. The car has always been garaged since coming up from Florida. The interior shows well for its age no cracks or tears. Has the (rare for this year car) heated seats, all gauges and dash lights work. Dash-cover car has some waves from sun. Paint is a good driver quality. I have shown 1 of the wheels and all 4 wheels are clean and free of scrapes (Great shape for age). Body has no rust, dings or scratches. Car is all original. When I replaced items I used original parts or OEM; even tune up parts. Glass is good for its age, no cracks or major pits. Radio is original AM/FM-tape. Tires have good tread, but are at least 7 years old. The removable Hardtop Carrier and Cover will be included in the sale I welcome inspections prior to purchase. Check out the vehicle history report. The car is a turn key driver vehicle in great condition with lot of recent ($) work into it. The price is an excellent value. Probably could be fit better, but works. The side windows could use new seals they leak car wash high pressureThere is some minor brake vibration does not affect braking, rotors might need to be turned - less than 2000 miles since brake job.Radio works, but it is original and not great sound.Idle is a little bumpy, no hesitation.
