This beautiful Pagoda Benz has recently resurfaced after 2 decades. An older gentleman kept it as his first love, even though he updated his personal vehicles every 5 years. When his new Audi R8 turned up, the old Benz fell out of favor, as there is no comparison. He used to tool around on the back roads by his Rancheria, but alas suburban homes had been built up all around his country ranch. That is how long he kept it, from when there was not a house in sight, till the whole city came to him. This project is now available to the discerning enthusiast. The fuel system has been cleaned and now we are tackling an issue in the ignition switch. We have decided to offer the car now to see if there is an individual with the strongest resolve. The most concerning issue is corrosion underneath the fender, where it meets the firewall. There has been an attempt to rectify this with a rudimentary patch job, that is less than concourse. The car is at a crossroads. It can be enjoyed as a pleasant and fun driver, with no fear of runaway shopping carts or careless kids. Or if you take the long way, it could be a stunning blue chip investment. The choice is yours, thank you for considering the options and there are many more photos at your request, Mr Chatman.

MATCHING NUMBERS CAR!I have about $90k in receipts for restoration work I've paid for since I've owned the car. Re-did engine bay last month, about $30,000 in invoices from that work alone last month! Car is now in pristine condition, show car ready! Full nuts and bolts, engine-out restoration, all plating in engine bay is per original spec as well. Recent PPI/Appraisal report available. Car is a 1/2 Hagerty!Private sale1969 280SL in pristine, investment-grade condition.Car was fully restored over three and a half years. I bought it “restored" from Aventura Motors in 2010, but I wanted it perfect, so I redid everything.Car has brand new interior, all metal (chrome) is brand new (not re-chromed/or re-finished), paint is brand new (car was stripped down and done right).Car comes with 2 tops, brand new German black soft-top and an off-white/ivory hard top with matching new ivory wheel caps (2 sets of wheel caps, ivory and red). Undercarriage, trunk and hood have been restored to original spec, it looks brand new.I'm selling because I have other cars and need space in my garage. I have personally spent over $150k on this project (including the original car), this doesn't include the restoration previously done by Aventura Motors. All body work was done by Paulee in LA - they're a Mercedes-Benz factory certified facility, licensed to spray Glaserit and they invented the Jig restoration system. They brought the paint down to almost no material, undercarriage was also refinished, and all parts are OEM (almost $40k spent here alone and 10 months of work).Interior and Top was done by German Tops in Burbank ($15k)Mechanical was done by German Motoring (santa monica), Boulevard Auto and Kavanagh Motors, and The Shop Auto Design - the owner/head mechanic at German Motors worked in the same facilities in Germany where these cars were produced. Engine and trans were rebuilt before I bought it 4 years ago, they are sound and work perfectly. In August 2015, all parts in engine bay were replated and refinished to factory spec, all seals and gaskets changed (rear main, valve cover, oil pan, transmission, etc) so car sits dry with no drips.I had the steering box rebuilt, new oil pump, new injection pump, new fuel lines, new fuel pump, new pan, new fluids, new brakes, all seals, gaskets etc on both the motor and the trans in August 2015All panels are original (hood, trunk, doors) and are matching numbers. Data card is included and car is consistent with original factory spec (interior, tops, exterior colors).I have about $90k in receipts for most of the work.New - all OEM, no replicas:All new interior (parchment)seats (German leather, not MB-tex)carpet (correct loop for this year car)all wood (original production new OEM/dead-stock, not refinished)glass (windshield, door windows)door panels (both leather and panel)dash (upper and lower)soft topwheel caps (2 sets)mirrors (interior and exterior)New ash trayOem original radio2 steering wheels (Nardi and OEM ivory)Oem new/dead stock front grillnew bumpersnew door handlesnew Window rollersnew emblemsnew batterynew headlightsnew windshieldnew taillightsnew tiresnew visorsnew armrestsnew wipersnew shifter and shift gatenew full exhaust and pipesoriginal kangol seatbeltsall window, trunk, door and hood rubber is newPrice: $135,000 This is a private sale!
