You are looking at a VERY RARE Factory S-code 390GT-4V 4-speed 1968 Mustang Fastback. This car needs a full restoration, but is an extremely worthy candidate with it's S-code 4-speed performance drivetrain options and with it's RARE and STUNNING original color combination!! This is an old Barn Find (actually in the trees behind the barn) Big Block 4-speed Street Brawler that has been off the road since the late '70's. Once it's days of being rode hard and put up wet were over; the Mustang was acquired by a gentleman who had another '68 GT Fastback and just wanted to keep the car around in case something happened to his original car. After keeping the car over 36 years and nothing happening to his car he finally decided to release the Big Block Mustang from it's barn yard holding facility!! This car was originally spec'd out as a Stock Order at McDuffie Motors in Thomson, Ga and was ordered with what at the time was the most powerful engine you could get in a Mustang to go fast and do it in refined yet understated style. It was ordered in the VERY RARE (1 of 32) Presidential Blue with optional Hood Black Out and a Blue Standard Interior Paint/Trim Combination with Ford's S-code 335 HP 390GT-4V Engine, Toploader 4-speed transmission, and Bullet-Proof 9 inch 3.00 geared rear end! What makes this car somewhat of an oddity is that is NOT a GT car.....it is a Standard Mustang Fastback with the S-code 390 GT engine, 4-speed Transmission and 9 inch rear end! I have the Deluxe Marti Sheet to document it's original options and production numbers. This 1968 Mustang Fastback was originally equipped as follows: 390GT-4V 335HP Engine 4-speed Toploader Manual Transmission3.00 geared conventional 9 inch RearPresidential Blue Exterior PaintHood Black Out Treatment White Paint StripeBlue Knitted Vinyl Bucket Seat InteriorF70-14 Wide Oval TiresSport Deck Rear SeatConsoleDeluxe Steering WheelAM RadioWire Wheel Covers This car while needing a full restoration is actually a fairly solid platform from which to start. While it does the floor plans replaced like most old Mustangs; but the torque boxes while not perfect are still decent in the car. The Rails on the car are in very good shape with the exception of just under the battery tray. It must have had a leaky battery as the battery tray itself is gone and the apron underneath has corrosion damage as well. The strut rod cover and the frame have some repair that needs to be done from said battery leak. The rest of the rails, rockers and the rear torque boxes are all in very good shape. Both rear 1/4's need to have the lower sections and drops repaired but the rest of the wheel arch and 1/4 section in front of the wheel opening are in great shape. The trunk floor area will need some repair work as well, but as stated before the Rear Rails are dry and super solid! The car had a light nose hit way back in the day and will need the radiator support repaired!! There are a pair of replacement fenders and hood on the car and all are very solid pieces. The Hood hinge mounting area will need to be repaired as the nutserts have pulled out. The hood is just laying on top of the engine bay and not bolted down at the moment; but the hood hinges are included just not installed. The roof has some dents in it as the car managed to become somewhat of a storage shelf in it's many years behind the barn. The interior is missing it's original floor console, but besides that is pretty much all there....it just needs restoration. The original 390GT S-Code engine was lost long ago and the car has a replacement 390GT engine complete with 390GT Heads, 390GT S-code Intake with PCV set up, C80F-C 390GT 4-speed Holley Carburetor, and 390 GT Exhaust Manifolds. The prior owner said that the oil pump broke in the motor and that it would need to be rebuilt. The engine is just bolted in the car for ease of movement. The car has a correct replacement 390GT Toploader 4-speed transmission in the car and has a Hurst Shifter with it. I am told the trans came out of a running car and had no problems; I did see the inside of the trans and it looked good but I am sure it would benefit from a freshening of the bearings and seals at the very least. The bellhousing in the car was damaged near the throwout fork mount and will need repair or replacement. Car has a Bullet Proof 9 inch open rear end underneath the car This car has been apart for many years and was assembled for transport. It does need a complete restoration......but with it being a Factory Big Block 4-speed car in such a RARE and desirable color combination......this certainly makes it a project worth doing!! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!!
