Here's your chance to own a very rare car and a piece of Mad Men history. Only 922 Imperial Crown Convertibles were built for 1964 and only one was used by John Hamm (aka Don Draper) in the hit TV Series Mad Men. Don drove this car down PCH to see Anna Draper in Season 4 Episode 3. This may be the only car that brags of being smoked in! (Okay, I don't know if Don Draper actually smoked in it, but did you ever see him not smoking?) This is a very cool car on its own without the Mad Men attachment. Technically, it's not a "Chrysler". Imperial was its own stand alone luxury brand back then and was later folded back into Chrysler. Totally redesigned for 1964 by Elwood Engel (creative genius behind the Lincoln Continental slab side), this car captures the early '60s style and beauty of that period. Check out the split front grille. This land yacht is over 19 feet, yet it sports only two doors. Approaching 89,000 original miles, this three owner car has been well cared for its whole life. Very clean under hood and solid frame all around. 413 cu. in., stock 4bbl carburetor and push button torque-flight transmission; this thing cruises beautifully down the road with no issues whatsoever. They used to say you "glide in a Cadillac, you ride in a Lincoln, but you float in an Imperial". So true! This is an attention-getting car, so buyer beware...lots of folks will want to take pictures and inquire about it. The Mad Men angle heightens its wow factor. I LOVE this car, but circumstances dictate its sale. Vehicle stored in heated garage in southern New Hampshire. Clean NH title in hand. I reserve the right to end this listing early as it is for sale locally as well. Sold as is. Buyer responsible for pickup or shipping. Will assist with transport as able. Please call 603-801-7610 to discuss.

To paraphrase the song "Love Shack" by the B-52's: "I've got me a Chrysler it's as big as a whale, and I've put it up for sale. I've got me a Chrysler, in luxury it seats plenty So hurry up and gather your purchase money." All this car is missing is Kato and the Green Hornet. All right, in all fairness, they drove a 1965 Imperial sedan in the movie, and a 1966 Imperial in the television series but when you look at that mean front end, it looks more "Hornet" than the grille on the '65 or '66. Here is one of the biggest modern land yachts ever built by an American auto manufacturer, at a skosh under 19 feet in length, 6 2/3 feet in width, and 4 3/4 feet in height, this 5,357 pound behemoth is the absolute perfect warm weather cruiser. There is an old adage, that you ride in a Cadillac, you glide in a Lincoln, but you float in an Imperial. A full frame and body design, the 1964 Imperial was the perfection of one man's dream. In 1959, Elwood P. Engel was the special projects stylist for the Ford Motor Company, and Eugene Bordinat was the Ford division's Chief Stylist. Both worked under Ford Motor Company's Chief Stylist (Ford/Lincoln/Mercury) George W. Walker. Both Engel and Bordinat had come up with designs for the 1961 Ford Thunderbird which they presented to Ford President, Robert McNamara, who looked at both designs and chose Bordinat's. He then looked at Engle and told him "stretch it, add two more doors to it, and change the tail lights to those we used on the 56-57 Continental Mark II. You just saved me from discontinuing the Lincoln brand." Engel asked how he was supposed to add two rear doors to a car with no "A Pillar", to which McNamara replied. "Hang 'em backwards". The result was the legendary 1961 Lincoln Continental, and while this car will forever be associated with Engel, he detested that he was not permitted to redesign the car in the manner he sought fit, and had to cut corners in order to add two more doors. In 1961, George Walker retired and Eugene Bordinant was promoted over Engel as Chief Stylist for Ford Motor Company. The same year, Virgil Exner retired as Chief Stylist for Chrysler Corporation, who promptly hired Engel away from Ford. His first project was to correct the errors of the 1961 Continental, and to show the brass at Ford what the Continental could have been if they had given him the time and resources to correct his initial design. The result: The Incomparable 1964 Imperial. Show anyone a 64-66 Imperial and the first thing most will ask you. "Is that a Lincoln"? Engel used the same primary design he used for the Lincoln, with slab sides and graceful curves at the body lines, but on the Imperial, he angled them to give the car a rakish look of motion. Then he put on what would be his ultimate use of chrome. The rear bumper and tail lights and a huge chrome Imperial Eagle over the gas filler pipe cover. Up front, he redesigned the Lincoln's grille into two angled sections, and off set the low/high beam headlamps housings to produce what would become known as "The Floating Continental Grille", which appeared only on the '64. Unlike the Lincoln or Cadillac of its day, this was no uni-body car, but a separate frame and chassis. The frames on these cars are so strong, they are banned from participating in smash up derby contests. This particular car was built at Detroit's Jefferson Avenue Assembly Plant on January 2, 1964 and is number 160 of 922 1964 Crown Imperial Convertibles. The car was originally purchased in San Leandro, CA in 1964, and was sold to its second owner in the same city in March 1975. In October 2001, the son of the second owner (executor of his late father's estate) registered it in his name and moved the car to Novato, CA. I purchased it in October 2007 and moved it to Michigan. My original goal was to restore it and a good part of that work has been done. As the photographs show, the entire interior has been redone in a classic black and white two tone, and new carpet installed. The lines are laser straight and the car painted a high gloss black. The hood and deck lid need to be repainted and the entire car color sanded and polished. There is presently no top. The original top was white. When I bought the car, it had a black top, which I removed. My plan was to install a heavy canvas white top with black piping to match the interior. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed as well as the front grill and headlamp housings, eyebrow moldings, and body line moldings. All the stainless has been meticulously worked on to eliminate all pits and dents, and has been polished to look like new. Mechanically, the 413 Wedge Head V8 (Second to last year for this engine) purrs. The top half of the engine was restored by the former owner, but it still requires the use of a lead fuel additive every three tanks. The push button (last year for these) transmission shifts smoothly. The ride is smooth and plush, though she could use new tires. There is an aftermarket A/C system which is not presently working, but the parts are all there. The original radiator and belt driven fan were removed and replaced with an aluminium radiator and electric fan, which activates either by temperature or through a manual on/off switch under the driver's side dash. The front dash pad was split and warped, so a new one was made and installed. I had the steering wheel restored but the wrong hub was put back on it so it won't fit the steering column. All you need to do is find a hub that fits and switch them out. I have just about all the parts necessary to finish the restoring this beauty but due to health issues, I've run out of time. This car is truly an American classic and I want her to go to someone who will finish what I started, and restore her to her original 1964 glory. She has been constantly stored in a facility with infrared heating that keeps the air at a dry 50 degrees in the winter. She also comes complete with a black cotton lined satin cover and carrying bag. Feel free to contact my agent "GREG" at 248-766-2403 with any questions, or to arrange a viewing of this vehicle, or you may contact me with any questions through Ebay. *RELISTED DO TO NON PAYING BIDDER. REASONABLE OFFERS CONSIDERED* Up for sale is my 1957 Imperial Crown Coupe. One of 4199 built. This car is a project needing full restoration. It's Regimental Red (code R) with a Charcol Grey Roof (K). Dark and light grey leather interior (code #83) Very striking and unusual color combination. This exact color combo is shown in all the Imperial brochures on the base model coupe. (see last photo showing brochure). Equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, radio w/ foot control, heater, Flyte Sweep trunk lid. This car spent all it's life in Southern California. Black plate car (plates have been on the car since 1963), last registered and on the road in 1980. 99% complete, needs air cleaner, hubcaps, the 4 gold fender crowns, and 1 inside windshield eagle emblem (which is reproduced). These cars were very rust prone and this one is quite solid. Majority of (remaining) paint on the car is original. Floors are perfect, you couldn't ask for nicer. So is the undercarriage, not heavily rusted or corroded (like you see out here in the Midwest). Way better than most. It needs a small patch on driver side rocker, (see photo 5), very easy fix. On the passenger side where it is dented there is rust out. An area about 30 in long and 2 to 2 1/2 wide. It's not bad, an entire quality reproduction extended rocker (72 in) is $80, so this will be a straightforward fix. It appears to me water got trapped in this area and that is what caused the rust. Rest of rocker is solid. The dent will come out, to me it looks like it was just popped in. This car spent time in junkyard and I think something was bumped or backed into it there. The car has damage on the passenger side rear bumper area, it looks like this can be worked out also, but if wanted I am including a section from another car to repair it, should you want to just cut it out. . Also will include entire remains of that car if wanted And another rear bumper (see parts list below for more info). Driver's side door dented as you can see, this will pull out but I know where you can get a straight solid door (see below), might be easier to bolt on another. The trim on this door will straighten out. Some old body work done on upper driver side quarter. Yes this car has the 392 cu. in. HEMI which is complete, I don't have the build sheet but see no reason not to think this is the original HEMI to the car. I think it has a spun run bearing so it will need to be rebuilt. I can't get it to turn over. That's the most common issue with these when they won't turn and aren't stuck due to rust.. Pulled the heads off, one cylinder wall has some light surface rust, rest are pristine (I do have photos showing the motor with the heads off). I have reassembled the motor but figure on tear down and rebuild, car deserves it anyway. Only thing I didn't try to was to see if trans was locking up motor. Or perhaps I just didn't try hard enough to free motor and tat one cylinder is stuck? It has been sitting a long long time. Motor is complete, carb is out so that is why it is off in certain photos, a better carb will be reinstalled. 66k is what's on the odometer, don't know if original, it could be based on looking at cylinder walls. I doubt this car has run since 1980. The interior is of course dry rotted and will need to be completely redone. But everything is there, nothing missing or broken. And no rust out! The front seat on the passenger side will need some work on the springs as it sits low. The driver's side armrest is there, just wasn't installed in the photos. Car even has both very rare sill plates which are really nice. The plastic door panel inserts are perfect (those are $800 a pair reproduction). The passenger side door and quarter glass go up and down. Couldn't get driver door and quarter window to move. Seat motor runs but doesn't move. The headlight switch appears to be good, headlights, parking light, and tail lights work. Antenna and horns do not. Glove box and lower part of dash in good shape, dash pad needs to be redone, steering wheel pretty cracked, will need to be recast. The access panel for the steering gear has surface rust (very common) but no rust out. There is a Southern California AAA sticker on the windshield and one for the "Quail Valley Country Club" There is scattering of papers and stuff I found when cleaning out the car, including the last registered owner's name & address, (appears to have been an elderly couple). All glass on the car is in excellent to like new condition. Car even has it's original bumper jack and the wood block, all in great shape. Most chrome needs replating but excellent cores, no junk. Stainless is nice, vast majority just needs polishing. This is California trim not the stuff you see back east....... Flyte Sweep trunk insert is in good shape, needs replating but usually these are shot. No rust in trunk, about 90% of factory undercoating is present Will come with a clear California title. I am selling this car because there is a convertible I would like to purchase. As much as I want to keep and restore this one, I have many cars, and I am short on time, space & money. I want to see this car go to good home, to someone who will do a full restoration on it to factory specs. I regret having to let it go, will not see another one like this. One of the photos is of the paint behind the data plate (where there is no wear) so you can see what a stunning color this is. I will sell to overseas buyers and may be able to help you out finding a shipper. I have several contacts for continental US shipping. Please feel free to call me to discuss. Garrett: 847-707-8312 Or e-mail me. Here's a link to a slideshow with more photos: http://ivyhillhomes.com/1957_Imperial.html With the car I will include following additional or rebuilt parts: nice hood emblem, very nice pair of headlight buckets, bezels, and eyebrow trim passenger hood hinge (passenger side is bad)passenger side quarter stainless,1 door stainless1 trunk stainless (piece that wraps around)driver's side interior door handledriver's side exhaust manifold (one on car has broken studs)1 good tail light assembly (will be installed in place of one on car) extra interior roof chrome piecesnicer dome light assembly (already installed)extra exterior rear window stainlessremains of another 2dr coupe which has upper quarters both sides, the whole trunk lip area, etc. Whole car can be picked up (car is in Bakersfield, CA) or cut off parts. FYI It will be 1-2 months before this car can be picked up or parts cut off nice rear bumper carburetornew fuel pumpnew belts & hosesnew voltage regulatornew thermostatnew coil & coil bracket I have many other parts for these cars and can work out a deal for other things, I also have access to a straight rust free driver's side door than can be worked into the deal. One photo shows motor when I got car, before it was cleaned. Carb is off, been replaced by better one. $2000 Deposit, via PayPal within 3 days of auction end. NO EXCEPTIONS Balance due within 7 days unless other arrangements have been made. Cash, cashier's check, or wire transfer. Contact me for other payment terms. I bought this car over a year ago. It was supposed to be a restored 61 Imperial. The car I was sold and the car that sold up were two different things. Sadly, anyone in the car world has had to deal with this before. I couldn't decide what to do with the car when it arrived. Until then, we did some upgrading to make it a daily driver. The intake/carb/plug wires and so on were updated, making the car drive like a dream. The car instantly fires up. We rebuilt the entire front suspension. See pictures to see the quality of the work. This car came out of California, not sure how long it was there . It is painted a rose pink color.  From 5' away, it looks great. It is a little light in some area's, there are touch ups done on it. There are pictures of all of this you'll see shortly. There is some slight bubbling on the driver side and passenger side rear door. Pictures included of this as well. The trim/chrome is in excellent shape. It appears new bumpers were purchased at some point by the previous owner. The interior is in good shape, but does show wear from being in the heat. The dash has a crack (pictured) and the oblong steering wheel has been wrapped. Passenger side rear hubcap is missing the imperial emblem. There is a scratch in the rear glass (picture provided). The steering wheel is not upside down, just how I had it when I parked it to take pictures. Gauges do work as do the lights and dash lights. I can't confirm if auto pilot works. Windows do roll up and down under power. The AC does not currently work. I can't stress enough that this car runs and drives excellent. For someone wanting a nice driver quality car that will be of little maintenance, this car is perfect. I would have zero concern driving this car anywhere. The gas tank was over filled. When putting it on the trailer to move it to storage, gas went out the over flow. This is not a perfect car, but far from a beater. My original plan was to do a driveline restoration. The car was sold to me as a fully restored car, which it obviously is not. Based off the build tag, it appears the car was EE1 which was midnight blue and a grey interior. This is not a factory color. Someone is going to really enjoy this car. If you have any questions, please ask. Don't bid if you can't buy. Names with no feedback will be canceled. I can hold the car in storage for up to 30 days. Payment must be made prior to pick up and title is in hand. On May-12-15 at 19:53:08 PDT, seller added the following information: This is heavily optioned cars.  Dual mirror, ac, roof inserts, auto pilot, etc.  I can't stress enough that the trim/chrome is in excellent condition.  You won't be disappointed in the car.  You can see in the background, I'm a big mopar guy.  I'm very hard when describing a car, which is why my feedback is 100%.  Let me know if you have any questions. On May-13-15 at 19:32:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Pictures of the tires are requested:

im selling my '57 imperial, just will not have time to get to this car. Only 4199 of these crown imperials were produced in 1957. it has 50,000 original miles, clear seat covers still on seats, interior is in pretty good shape, needs carpet and I would put clear seat covers back on the seats because they look like brand new under the old covers, headliner is really nice, dash is good, door panel on driver side needs a little t.l.c. but not un fixable, its got a 392 hemi that runs like new, the trans is good, the brakes work but need shoes,. the body rust is basically sheet metal, doors hood and deck lid are really clean, engine bay is really nice, the mounts and frame and trunk are really clean. I have every piece of side trim, and also the single headlight set up for it, also the drivers door handle, and rear qtr. window for this car, so all the hard to find parts are there, the quarter panel moulding and door moulding are mint for the drivers side. it starts up and runs great, no smoke, high oil pressure, this car is really rare, it took me a year to find the missing parts and they weren't cheap, this car is a really good start for a restoration or a cool custom. I hate to sell it but it will sit for a while and I would like to have someone fix this rare car. please call me with any questions about it, 586-944-8615.i owned a restoration shop for 15 years and this car is in very savable condition. the car is being sold locally so I reserve the right to end auction early. there is no warranty on the car and it is being sold in as is condition. thanks for looking
