Selling a 1979 firebird formula moving so i am thinning the herd so needs a new home the drive line and motor only have 1200 miles on it.It is a 455 bored 40 over with melling high volume oil pump,scat crank ,eagle specialty rods,kieth black pistons,competition cam,competition lifters and push rods,6x-h pontiac heads,holley high volume fuel pump,hooker competition headers with full summit exhaust,edelbrock performer rpm intake,edelbrock 750 cfm carb with 2'' spacer,mallory unilite distributor,mallory unilite coil pack,edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner,2 batteries turbo 400 transmission with shift kit and tci 2800 rpm stahl converter,pro ratchet shifter,8.5 posi rearend with 3:42 richmond gears,traction bars,new tires on turbine wheels,new shocks,new brakes,gauges,cd player.Car needs to be finished needs paint but if rubbed out is presentable,nose needs to be painted but have the correct formula nose that goes with the car same color,needs brake power boost works but get spongey and fade once in a while,small crack in windshield on passenger side about 6in up from bottom,needs all the weatherstripping except for trunk is new,the only rust on the car is small spot on rear qaurter as shown in picture there is no glass [bondo] on the car.Car runs fantastic and is fast mechanicly it needs nothing.

for sale i have a true 1979 firebird formula that is a mostly original project car with a 4.9L non turbo 301 V8 four barrel with an automatic trans and a 2;73 non posi rear. the car has power windows, power door locks, ac, factory guages,but no tach, it had tilt steering but the bearings in the column went out so i replaced it with a straight one. original tilt column is included in the sale if you would like to replace the bearings in it. it comes with the original owners manual, and other original paperwork,also has the original jack,tire inflater, factory build sheet. and build i bought the car 17 years ago as my daily driver and i am the cars 3rd owner to my knowledge it is a mostly original car. the only parts that have been changed is the heater core, radiator was upgraded to a four core, water pump, fuel pump, belts & hoses, alternator, starter, brakes, rotors,drums. engine, transmission, and rear are all original. car has a true dual exhaust installed about 2006 by a local garage. car was completely redone in 2002 and repainted the original two tone color but is showing signs of terrible body work in the lower quarters. the frame rails were replaced, trunk floor extentions, as well as the under rear seat floors. so all the hard work is done to the car. the car has been off the road since 2007 due to fuel delivery problems. i think the carb needs rebuilt but can't be sure it runs when it wants to run, but being sold as non running. other work it needs is the headliner is coming down, but i have a headliner included with the sale, front seats should be recovered due to cracks in the vinyl and the dash has a sun crack in it. there is a stone chip in the windshield but i have a windshield to go with it as well. it will also need a rear seal in the motor because when it does start it has a pretty good oil leak. THE CRAGAR SST'S THAT ARE ON THE CAR ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS SALE IT WILL COME WITH THE FACTORY PONTIAC RALLY WHEELS WITH THE TRIM RINGS AND CENTER CAPS THAT ARE PAINTED TO MATCH THE CAR WITH ROLLER TIRES ON THEM. look over the pictures good as you will need to do some work on this car it is by no means a turn key driver, and will need to be trailored away. car has a clear PA title and will do all necessary paperwork if you are an out of state buyer. if you think my price is outrageous shoot me your best offer. all i can say is no. car is for sale locally so i reserve the right to end the sale early if it sells locally. buyer is responsible for shipping cost and arrangements. a non refundable deposit of $500.00 is due immediately by pal pal with full payment in 48 hours of accepting the buy it now price.

original arizona Firebird, purchased new in mesa,az in 1980 by my wife's uncle. Car was rear ended in 1990 and has been parked ever since. It was given to a neighbor who was going to repair it but it sat parked, untouched, for over 20 years. I got it last year and was going to restore it. I don't have the time or space for such a project. Original engine and transmission, all emissions equip, factory exhaust, a/c intact. I got the car running, cleaned out the fuel tank, changed the oil - cat converter was plugged, but once unbolted it runs and drives surprisingly well. Even the brakes are still working .transmission shifts fine, but I really only drove it around the block since taillights are out. Included with the car is a set of nice taillamps, including the gas door. Deck lid was replaced and rear bumper cover. Needs metal work on quarters but they are repairable. Tail panel will need a replacement but fortunately, a reproduction is now available for less than $400. The car is solid and rust free. The doors don't sag and close easily. Tops are factory (fisher- see build sheet). All glass including tops and windshield are good. This will be a nice car to restore or build a trans am clone. I will entertain offers but it's been sitting for almost a quarter century, I'm not giving it away over having to keep it a few months more. I have a 1979 formula as well and may make a package deal. It has no powertrain but the body is perfect. Another original Arizona car. I was going to cut it up to fix this one but now that repro parts for the 79_81s are available, you could build two nice cars.

I bought this car as the 3rd owner but actually like the second due to the second owner purchased and stored it for just over a year, but body is in great shape just some minor rust on pass rear quarter and just in front of the rear wheel and on rear bumper support otherwise underneath is clean floors trunk and rockers are good, interior is good headliner fabric needs to be reglued and plastic panels are faded and only one small crack in dash other than that it's normal paint fade and surface rust underneath trunk is good and floor boards are good and rockers are good, I towed it home and have it up and running after not being run for 20 years and runs good and everything works a/c windows locks and all original put snowflakes wheels on it due to the rally wheels had dry roted tires on them , had plans to do the olds 455 swap have the motor and trans that can be purchased along with the car or not, ended up with a few spinal injuries and won't be able to finish it

Up for sale here is a very nice 1979 Formula Firebird. If you want to do a car that can be show room this is it. I bought this car in the mid 80's the paint was faded, I prepped it for paint and it sat in the garage for over 25 years. It has never had any rot or accidents. The original interior is near mint. The headliner in drooping a bit. After I moved a few years ago, I filled the carb up with gas and it fired up in 5 seconds. Still runs smooth as can be. The t tops don't leak and the car is almost fully loaded. I have been collecting old cars for decades and it is time to try and let a couple dozen go. The car has just about 85,000 original miles. I don't do my own paint any more. I have done body and paint work since the 70's so I know what a solid car is. I come from the East coast and don't have rusted cars. Please call if serious. This particular example is a well optioned '79 model that pairs a 6.6 litre V8 and 3-speed automatic gearbox with factory air conditioning and all the outrageous Pontiac swagger you could ever ask for. Freshly restored in 2014, the car is showroom fresh, offering an authentic driving experience through a roster of correct components. And, if you're ready to cruise the boulevard in one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever assembled, it's your opportunity to seize the day! BODYWORK/TRIM After leaving GM's Van Nuys assembly line in the summer of 1979, this Poncho was trailered to Dale Sharp Pontiac in Topeka, Kansas. Thanks to a lifetime of calculated use and meticulous care, the car became an excellent starting point for a professional, ground-up restoration. Correct Solar Gold 2-stage was applied under tough "TRANS AM" call-outs and brilliant Screamin' Chicken decals. And details like black headlight buckets, correct black reveal moldings, correct black tail lamps and familiar wheel spoilers round out classic, pavement-pounding aesthetics. ENGINE Naturally, 6.6 litres of GM power back up the car's angry demeanor. Correctly restored and ready to roll, this coupe, like the vast majority of factory-accurate 1979 Trans Ams, is equipped with a 403 cubic inch V8. And, it's pretty easy to identify that Oldsmobile-sourced block since "403" is cast right in to the passenger's side of its iron casing. A big 4-barrel carburetor feeds 4A heads that are equipped with 83cc combustion chambers. Delco Air conditioning is always a welcome addition. Decals and brandings are as fresh as when the car rolled off the assembly line. Everything is neatly wrapped in a striking combination of Satin Black and GM Corporate Blue paint. And, while horsepower numbers aren't exactly off the charts, 320 lb./ft. of torque is more than enough oomph to make this 'bird fly! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under the floors, a clean chassis visually confirms the car's just finished restoration while hosting a mile-long list of correct components. The 403 V8 entertained only one option for shifting: GM's trusty Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed. That gearbox sends power to a correct GM 10-bolt, which is equipped with a posi-traction differential and highway-friendly gears. Around that rock-solid powertrain, a full F41 suspension, which includes mandatory power steering and thick sway bars, combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. A single-into-dual exhaust system has been upgraded with a Magnaflow converter, Walker Quiet-Flow 3 mufflers and polished side-splitter tips. And, at the corners of the car, requisite 'snowflake' wheels spin 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around correct gold paint and familiar 'gold bird' center caps. INTERIOR Behind this Pontiac's massive doors, you'll find a correct Camel Tan interior that's centered in miles of cool trim. Rebuilt seats are comfortably firm, framing a simple, Camel Tan console and chrome GM shifter. In front of those seats, an engine turned instrument panel hangs crystal clear gauges above factory climate control and a reconditioned Delco-GM stereo. Tan carpet, protected by thick floor mats, looks just as good as the car's plush door panels and tight headliner. In front of the driver, a standard Formula steering wheel spins around a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fresh trunk anchors a Space Saver spare tire under a fresh decklid decal.
