This is a completely unrestored and unmolested example of a very popular and frequently used iconic BMW model. This 2002 has its original paint, interior, and engine. All is in the same condition as it was when it left the showroom 40 years ago. It is a highly desirable early example as it has chrome bumpers and round taillights. It is an incredible find as most were such reliable commuters that most surviving examples are often found to be run into the ground. To find one in this shape is an extraordinary occurrence and a great addition to the preservation class.

Up for sale is my 1971 BMW 2002 in Agave green. This classic round tail sedan is an excellent restoration base. A California car since new, it is free of structural rust. There is notable rot on the trunk lid along the rear molding, some small holes in the spare wheel well, and some holes in the front valence. Some bubbling has developed behind the rear wheel openings, and a spot under the front windshield. I started to take down the bubble spots, and the rust has not penetrated or compromised the sheet metal yet. The rockers, shock towers and underside are exceptionally clean and dry. The right rear corner suffered a tap at some point, and has been hammered out but will need finishing work before paint. It has the desirable street performance modifications, including the 320is 5 spd, LSD and Recaros that are getting harder to find as 320is values climb. I have recently performed a service on the engine (oil & filter, valve adjustment, new carb filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor). I also put new webbing on the Recaro seats. It handles exceptionally well, and drives great. I drive it all around the Bay Area. The car is getting tired however, and could really use a restoration to soldier on. Most importantly of all, the car has extensive documentation from new to now. I have the original dealer order sheet (window sticker), sales invoice, original manuals with dealer service stamps and just about every single receipt for the car since new until now - massive stack. I have log books from 1970 to 1989 (first owner), detailing just about every gas fill up, oil change, and service done to the car. Dealer service invoices, independent garage invoices, part order receipts - this is a serious amount of documentation, above and beyond almost any 2002 I have come across. I am the fourth owner of the car, and a classic BMW enthusiast. The car did have CA blue plates on it, but they were lost when a previous owner put on personalized plates. The car has a clean title and is currently registered. Modifications:- Weber 32/36 carb- Pertronix electronic ignition- Bilstein sport shocks (one-year old)- Bav Auto sport springs (one-year old)- 320is 5spd transmission- 320is LSD differential - 320is Recaro front sport seats- 320is/M1 sport steering wheel- 320i wheels with new Michelin tires- Pioneer sound system (speakers under front seats and on rear parcel shelf)- BMW coco mats front and rear Highlights:- Agave green on tobacco - Non-sunroof car- No structural rust- Clean title- Most, if not all, '71 specific items are still intact or included with the car- Chrome work is all in nice condition- Desirable street performance modifications already done- Lights, switches, gauges, indicators all working- Extensive documentation Included original and restoration parts:- Original front seats in decent condition (will need new horse hair pads and covers)- Spare good condition original tobacco rear seat covers (purchased for fabric to redo front seats)- Excellent condition driver and passenger Recaro lower side bolster foam (for seat restoration)- Great condition Recaro driver and passenger foam bottom and back pieces (for seat restoration)- Original steering wheel- Original differential- Original air cleaner box in great condition- Original set of wheels in great condition- Original set of hubcaps in great condition- Original tool roll- Misc interior trim pieces (some tobacco interior pieces, other early round tail pieces)- Great condition early plastic lower door plates- Great condition driver side inner door latch assembly- Good condition early gauge cluster surround- Core flywheel with great ring gear- Spare good condition starter - Ireland Engineering early shift support bushing- Ireland Engineering HD transmission mount- New OEM shift rod bushings, cup bushings, shift tower mounts- New drive shaft guibo- New pedal pads- New driver and passenger door weather seals- New driver door lower weather seal- New rear quarter window seals- New uncut keys- Exterior lower driver side molding- Exterior passenger rear quarter molding (I removed it to take down some rust bubbles that had formed under the trim)- New exterior belt-line trim mounting kit- New exterior lower molding mounting kit- New door card mounting clips- New valve cover seal BMW is the mark of the Historics next year during Monterey Car Week. 2002 values have steadily been on the climb, picking up speed already this year. With a good solid base and extensive documentation, this is a 2002 you can put money into restoring, have a blast driving it around and sell it for a profit in the future. You can't buy in too early with a nice round tail 2002. Please note: You must be able to pay within 3 days of purchasing. I am willing to hold the car for you for a few weeks so that you can secure transport, but payment MUST be made within three days of purchasing. Have all your ducks in a row before purchasing, and all questions answered. If you commit to purchasing the car and back out, I will not only give you negative feedback, but also complain to eBay and have them ding your rating. I'm serious about selling the car, please be serious about buying. This car is being sold AS-IS, with no warranties of any kind, including warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. I've tried to represent the car as honestly as possible, and will be expedient as possible in answering questions. Photos:

CAR IS ALSO AVAILABLE FOR SALE LOCALLY AT THIS VERY LOW PRICE!! THIS AUCTION CAN END AT ANY TIME!! I am selling a 1974 BMW 2002 with the 5-speed transmission upgrade. I believe the color to be Verona (Red) as you can see on hood and trunk lid. Paint is faded so I thought it was Inka Orange for a while. I purchased the car a few months ago and had transported from Washington State to California. I always loved these cars and I felt is was a great deal; especially with the 5-speed. I am selling because my ever patient wife was already not very happy with me because I am up to 6 cars; 2 that are still in restoration stages (1973 Opel GT and 1965 VW Bug). Let's just say this cars arrival didn't go over very well. I paid $2700 for the car and $650 to transport so I am losing money at this price but I think it is very fair and I really want to have the car in someones garage soon! Here is the good:Engine runs well, starts right up and electric choke does its job5-speed conversion; shifter is loose New tires - skinny but new!New trim ringsCar has records almost till new - see pictureCar has owners log for every time gas was added, oil changes etc.Headlights, brake lights and other lights workInterior fan worksAll windows workNew carpet but not done properlyWindshield wipers work; slowly but workWhat you should know:Windshield is cracked No Headliner but comes with poles for installationPaint looks good from 20 feetOne hood hinge is not attachedFront fenders are fiberglass or abs plastic; can't tellLeft rear shock tower has rust - see picturesSpare tire well has rust - see picturesDriver side rockers are good but looks like Passenger side had some rust at rear of rocker that was patched up but not repairedDoes not have a spare tireHas Honda seats installed but only one side of brackets are installed; needs OEM seats or seat bracket to properly installCar is from Washington State; has clear title from previous owner. It is missing center consoleCar is 41 years old and not perfect as described but it can be driven while restoring or just to keep as is and drive. I am in La Jolla CA and car can be shown locally.
