This is a rare opportunity to buy a Porsche 944 that is not only beautiful, but has been meticulously maintained to ensure it drives as good as it looks. The way a nicely sorted Porsche 944 feels, pretty special, and this car is no exception. This 1986 Porsche 944 has been with me for the past 12 years. As a Porsche Club Member, I've maintained it to an extremely high standard which is evident by the 2 inch stack of service history kept during my ownership. All original and never modified survivor! Problem areas and weak points known to these cars have been addressed and mended. With most of the key service items performed during my ownership, including a recent top end engine rebuild, spring centered clutch, and fresh major timing belt service, this car will give you long time enjoyment with minimal expensive maintenance moving forward. Overall Condition: PAINT: The Guards Red paint shines up very nicely but shows appropriate patina for it's age and 135k. A close inspection well reveal a few small dings and nicks throughout from general use, some minor stone chips on the front nose, and a small dent on the hood approximately the size of a fist. Should be an easy fix for paintless dent repair. Car has had NO RUST EVER and has been stored indoors from October to April every winter. I will have the exterior professionally detailed prior to the next owner taking delivery. INTERIOR: Excellent condition with absolutely NO DASH CRACKS. Interior trim retains that dark deep rich look with no fading on any trim pieces. No squeaks or rattles. Driver's seat shows minor wear on the seat bolster with a small tear in the seam. Great factory looking German Blaupunkt Miami Beach CD/Radio with Aux Imput to connect to your phone or mobile device with new speakers. Climate control system functions properly with HOT heat. Overall, the interior retains a very "like new" look. Very rare to find a 944 with an interior of this quality.DRIVING: The build quality on these vintage Porsches is second to none, it really does feel like German bank vault in it's solidarity. The doors close with an almost magical metallic clink that just oozes quality. The ride is supple and the handling is tight thanks to a completely refreshed suspension using OEM components. Car tracks straight down the road and does not pull while braking. Steering is razor sharp and the car feels very "tight". Runs cool and never overheats. Nice crisp clutch engagement. No warning lights illuminated on the dash. I've driven dozens of 944's and it doesn't get much better than this. Drives exactly as Porsche intended.ENGINE: Thanks to a recent top end rebuild, the motor is very healthy pulling strong through the entire rev range and burns no oil. Cylinder bores looked excellent when the head was off. Very smooth with no smoke or odd noises. These motors are truly bulletproof and have been known to run well past 300-400k. TRANSMISSION: Shifts smoothly and tight through all five gears including reverse. Clutch was replaced at 99k with the much improved spring center variation and still grabs very crisp. Flushed and refilled with synthetic transmission fluid several years ago. MAINTENANCE: This 944 has been lovingly maintained and enthusiast owned for its entire life. Regular oil changes. Never tracked or abused. Engine always warmed up gently. Comes complete with service history dating back 15 years. Clean title! Please see below for a long list of repairs and preventive maintenance completed.ISSUES: Power steering rack has a leak. Will include a replacement rack with sale. Labor runs several hours to install. The A/C was converted to 134a several years ago when a new compressor was installed, however it is due to be recharged. Sunroof needs a relay or wire repair, however it can still be easily operated with the manual crank located in the hatch. Pre-Purchase Inspections welcome! Major Service and Repairs: - Spring centered clutch with new pressure plate, release lever bearings, pilot bearings, friction disk, throw-out bearing, and level bearings @ 99k - Fresh major service with timing belt, balance shaft belt, tension rollers and idle rollers @ 131k. - Top end engine rebuild with five angle valve job complete with new plugs, wires, cap and rotor done @ 125k - Suspension refreshed with new OEM Boge shocks all around with tie rod ends, ball joints, stabilizer bar bushings and four wheel alignment @ 129k- Motor Mounts (turbo variety) @ 99k- Front wheel bearings repacked @ 123k- Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay @ 122k- Rebuilt brake master cylinder with fluid flush @123k- Radiator, thermofan switch, coolant flush @ 115k- Synthetic trans fluid @115- Heater Control Valve @ 120k- Brand new rear brake pads and rotors (fronts done @ 112k).- AC Compressor/134a conversion kit @ 131k- Rear CV axle shaft assembly @ 135- New Pirelli P4 tires on original 15" Porsche fuchs wheels. - New climate control unit with heater support clips @133k.- Plus many other small items! With nice 944's becoming extremely hard to find, and 80's poster cars taking off in value, this is an opportunity you don't want to miss. With the sudden rise in value of air-cooled 911's, and now early 928's, the 944 and 944 turbo series has already began to grab the attention of collectors with soaring prices, and for good reason, these are underappreciated wonderful cars!
