Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1975 Mini Cooper 1275 My adored classic Mini is looking for good home after seven years of my ownership. The previous owner imported the car from England. Since my ownership began in 2008, the car has been partially restored with around $10,000 spent on mechanical and cosmetic repairs and upgrades. (It's ok, I realize I'm underwater.) As a Mini enthusiast and purist, my goal with the car has been to maintain its original appearance and condition as much as possible and to keep it in reliable condition throughout the years. The car is in strong, drivable condition. The original 1275 engine with original SPI fuel injection runs very well. Rover introduced the fuel injection systems for Mini in 1992, and they are reliable, easy-to-maintain, and strong running. The engine provides smooth acceleration throughout the power band, and the car cruises smoothly at 70 mph on the interstate. The handling on the curvy roads is probably the best part. The brakes are modern and good: plenty sufficient braking for the car’s size. The car will attract admirers! The overall condition of the car will make you proud to be its owner. The car is not a show quality fully-restored classic Mini, but the car is in solid “driver” condition. The car is turn-key and ready to go. This car would be ideal for someone looking for a fun classic Mini as a “weekend driver”. The car is ready to participate in local British car club events, Mini club rallies, and the like. The car would also provide a great basis for a Mini enthusiast to personalize to his or her own taste. Features of the car: 78,953 mi. Right hand drive. Original 1275 engine with fuel injection and 4-speed manual transmission. Upgraded sport exhaust (by previous owner). Like-new 12-in. Minilife wheels. Removable sunroof. Notable work since 2008: New OEM carpet from Newton Commercial (the source of original interior replacement pieces) in 2012. New front seatbelts in 2013. New engine seals and gaskets in 2012. New brushed aluminum dashboard in 2011. Fresh paint job and new bumpers in 2011. Replaced rear undercarriage and rocker panel bodywork in 2011 to like-new or better-than-new condition; no rust. Mechanical restoration by Heritage Garage in Costa Mesa, CA in 2010: new brakes, suspension components, heater core, radiator, fan, timing chain, clutch, and many other refurbishments. I have changed the oil at least every 3,000 mi. religiously during my ownership. The coolant was just changed in Oct. 2015. The 12-in. Falken tires have over half of the tread remaining (approximately 7,000-10,000 miles remaining). The car could use new CV boots. There are cosmetic hairline stress lines in the paint at the bottom of the A-pillars. There is a 2-in. tear in the driver’s seat fabric. The seats could be recovered with original fabric that is readily available from Newton Commercial to complete the interior restoration. (I simply never got around to it.) The car will come with an original owner’s manual, two complete sets of keys (to ignition, doors, boot, and gas cap), and service records since 2008. The car is on a clear TN title. 1976/96 Rover Mini 1275 for sale $16,000 OBO -Registered in NM with title in hand -Pretty sure it’s a Japanese import…many of the features match Japanese market Minis during the mid-90s era including a/c and a road flare under the hand brake that’s all in Japanese. -33,802 miles, but it’s my daily driver so those will rise about 20 mi per day. (The first 29,802 miles were on an old KM odometer (47,962 km) that the previous owner switched out for an MPH speedo…have 4,000 on the MI odometer. I still have the old speedo. Title reflects the switch. -Handles great – drove it 8 hrs at 85 mph when I purchased it to bring it home. -Has a second 5 gallon rally-style fuel tank (now 14 gal total) on the right hand side in the boot extending the range significantly. I currently refuel once a month! -Right-hand drive -12 in wheels with yokohama tires with about 80% tread left -4-speed manual transmission - shifts smooth and clean -1275cc engine - runs strong -Single point fuel injected so starts up every time regardless of temp -Body is dent-free and rust free (except a small circle on the undercarriage towards the rear…treated with POR 15) -Glossy paint, shiny chrome bumpers and grill -4 Amber rally lights - all functional, have the outer two disconnected for local laws -Interior is really clean and was what sold me on this one when I bought it. Seats are imitation vinyl with the leather look but are really comfortable. I have installed brackets on the driver’s side that set it back about 3 more inches. I am 6’1” and fit fine without them, but having the little bit of extra room makes it perfectly comfortable as my daily driver. Headliner is great and all the lights/electric parts and pieces work as advertised. -Wooden Momo steering wheel and shift knob to match the wooden dash. -Air conditioning works awesome. Life saver on that 100 degree August Texas afternoon 8hr drive home when I first purchased. -Radio works fine, a basic Best Buy aftermarket job. -Also will include spare front and rear windshield gaskets, a sport suspension kit that needs installed, miscellaneous lighting parts, spare K/N air filter, and a whole bunch of magazines and literature. -I’ll throw in the extra set of John Cooper Works 13 inch wheels ($800 value) if you’re interested. They do need new tires on those, but they are much wider which makes it really grip the road. Otherwise I’ll probably just sell separately. Bad stuff: -2 or 3 nicks in the paint on the front end from being a daily driver. Small enough to only notice within a few feet. -Slight oil drip (one drop per night) after my last oil change. Slow enough that I haven’t gotten under there to investigate since there’s a large skid plate protecting the undercarriage. -A few squeaks/rattles at 3500 rpm coming from the backseat. Stops if you hold your hand on it. -A few small cracks in the wood dash -Bonnet release knob missing (I am able to just pull the rod without a tool to release though) -Muffler has rust holes on the underside. This is probably the biggest issue and will need replaced but I haven’t had the time and it’s been running fine. -With the 13 in wheels installed, the left front tire will rub with full left steering wheel deflection (like in a parking lot). Does not rub with currently installed 12 in wheels. I’m selling because I bought it with the intention of working on it a lot more, but between being out of town all the time since I’m an active duty pilot and it being my daily driver, I haven’t been able to so I’m just going to look for something a little more modern for the time being. United States EPA and DOT exempt since all the paperwork makes it a 1976.
