This 190sl was delivered to its first owner in 1961 in Northern NJ, Mercedes, order #17140406. He drove it about 60,000 miles before he did a complete offsite restoration. The car was disassembled, the body was sent to a shop in Michigan for a full frame and body panel restoration. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by a leading NJ Mercedes specialist, a new high end tan top was fitted, all instruments were rebuilt, a new tan leather interior was fitted, and the car was painted a beautiful fire-engine red (DB534). (I have all receipts which go with the car). The second owner, a car collector in Northern NJ, bought the car with about 61000 miles, stored the car in a heated garage and drove it to car shows and the country club and put approximately 2000-2500 miles on the car. It was driven continuously, but sparingly. I bought the car in 2013 from the car collector. The car went through a nine month refresh. This included brake system overhaul with new parts, fuel system overhaul, including newly rebuilt original Solex carburators, fuel pump, gas tank. New radial tires, with the same size as original, were added. A new gel battery with original tar top look and original battery label was put in the car. The car was tuned. The paint was polished to bring up the beautiful look. The underside of the car was painted to match the correct 'Mercedes flat gray' (DB169) with which it left the factory. A new windshield was fitted. See the pictures. Everything works, and the car needs nothing but a new owner who will love it's beautiful lines and excellent performance. The original radio, original windup clock, push button windshield washer, and all other electrics work perfectly. The car comes with original Mercedes factory jack and toolkit, original owners manual and owners parts book. It also has the original key set with the Mercedes key fob and a spare set of keys. All receipts from the earlier restoration are in a binder and are included in the sale. In addition, all receipts from the 2013-2104 refresh are in a binder and are included. The car needs nothing, has no rust, is kept in a garage and has no known flaws. It starts up instantly, it runs great, and everyone waves, it is gorgeous. The current owner is an active member of the International 190sl Club, and has put love and attention into making this 190sl the best it can be. 100% of payment due within 7 days of buying it, via wire transfer or certified check. Once the money clears I will release the car and sign the title. If you plan to ship the car via transport company, I will assist them in loading it up from my garage. Clean, original, unmolested car: Prior to me purchasing this car two years ago, it remained in the same family for 36 years, transferring from father to son. The car has always been looked after by professional Mercedes mechanics, and has always been garaged and well cared for its entire life. The owner provided me with A-Lot of receipts; the latest was for new tires, alignment, fuel filter, recent tune-up (plugs cap/rotor and filters), and new battery. Also replaced were multiple cooling hoses, belts, injector seals, fuel distributor and gaskets. Fluids changed (brake, antifreeze, transmission). Idles smooth, accelerates without hesitation, shifting automatically with ease through every gear. The car recently underwent a professional repaint; the paint looks beautiful (deep shine and clean). There never was a speck rust or dents on the car; no signs of body damage; the exterior color is silver blue with light cream interior. The interior is in excellent shape, not a rip or stain; carpets are brand new MB originals. Interior trim is flawless. The soft top is in good condition for its age, and still looks very presentable, the rear window is clear, but does have some small sun spots. The original color matched hard top is in excellent shape. The heat and instrumentation work very well, as do all the mechanical on the car with the exception of the A/C. A brand new 143a compressor, dryer and conversion materials come with the car. It has the original Becker Mexican radio that works beautifully. The trunk is equally clean; no blemishes on the carpets or the trim, no stains or smells. Car has original owners manual, first aid kit, multiple keys and original German tool kit. There is little doubt that the 500SL is the most sought after and collectible of all the R107 chassis SL's built between 1972 and 1989 The convertible top looks new, including the rear window (the hard top was not removed in years). The Interior is very, very nice. She's not perfect, but an exceptional car that has been garaged and well taken care of. The spare tire is mounted on a original wheel and you will find the factory tools, jack and first aid kit in the trunk. No Accident Damage! No Rust! A solid body with some dings and scratches from storage. Mainly the right passenger door and the top of the left, front fender. The additional file of pictures will show these flaws much better. The front lower valance is slightly dented and the plastic lower grill in that area is cracked. This 500 SL is sitting on later model Mercedes wheels which are a little larger than the originals with newer tires. I recently had her out for a little drive, she runs cool and shifts smoothly with good oil pressure. The suspension and steering feel tight, she brakes good and straight. There are no strange engine noises, rattles, vibrations, smoke or fluid leaks. This 500 SL was only washed prior to taking these pictures.
