The Person Who Won Bid Said he did not know he was going to win it so please make sure you have money ! Johnny Carson's 1988 Mercedes SEC purchased new from Beverly Hills Mercedes from the king of late-night himself Johnny Carson! The vehicle was registered in Johnny's name at his office located at 1999 Avenue of the Stars suite #2100 Los Angeles California and the vehicle was insured with Transamerica Insurance Company Name insured Was Carson Productions Group, some original documentation is still with the vehicle including original owners manual original window sticker and 3 California registrations and insurance cards registering the vehicle to Johnny Carson to my knowledge Johnny owned this vehicle until roughly 2003 when it was sold to one of the neighbors near his home in Malibu for the vehicle did resign most of it's life , the vehicle only has 72,000 original miles man runs and drives truly like a dream just floats down the road and this vehicle still gets a lot of attention! Everything is in working condition the vehicle just passed the California emissions/Smog with no issues vehicle doesn't have any service lights on I truly see no problem getting in this vehicle and driving it anywhere! I will tell you the issues that are wrong with the car mechanically there is a small oil leak from the front part of the engine and it is coming from the valve cover gaskets they will need replacing. Also the air conditioning does not blow cold but the heater is working well condenser is working fine most likely of need of charge or in our state will have to be converted non R12 setup the interior on the vehicle is in excellent condition with no tears or no large cracking in leather either back seats are almost like new the carpet in the vehicle is also in excellent condition and the original floor mats are still with the vehicle also in very good condition the interior and paint is 100% original on this vehicle but unfortunately there is flaws with the exterior which I will explain drivers rear quarter panel rear tire area there is a wrinkle in the panel from a blown tire that damaged this area also the rear bumper was slightly tapped and there is a small crack in the bumper and also the Chrome molding that would line up with the trunk that is on the bumper is slightly bent also since the vehicle was parked out in Malibu it does have rust spots the first one on the windshield washer on Hood in that area there's probably a two and a half inch spot of rust bubbles and also rear window driver side there is a quarter-size rust bubble as well , I did get an estimate from a local Body Shop of $2,470 to fix these damages also the factory pinstripe is starting to fade in some areas along the side of the body and this will also need some attention oh and I almost forgot to mention the automatic seatbelts kind of work only when they want to when you get into the vehicle you'll hear the motors working but the seat belt will not shoot out at you most of the time sometimes we'll get lucky and it will shoot out though this will also need some tweaking to be fixed also the passenger side window motor is working perfectly fine but it is off track and the window need to be placed on track the power sunroof is working perfectly with no issues the rear power windows and driver side window are going down perfectly fine as well all electrical on the vehicle is working as well if you were a fan of Johnny Carson this is the vehicle that you want in your garage I can't imagine the good times that have taken place in this vehicle back in the late 80s and 90s with Mr. Carson and Friends! Introduced in 1982 in the US as the 380SEC, these crisply designed V8 "pillarless" coupes became the car of choice for the affluent individual who appreciated exceptional build quality, timeless styling and - with the 5.0 liter and 5.6 liter variants - a taste of some horsepower. The end-of-series 5.6 liter model added a good measure of extra muscle under the hood, providing US customers the power which Europe enjoyed with the 500SEC. The 560SEC arrived in the US as a 1986 model. The specification included heated front seats, town and country horns, power sunroof, ABS brakes, airbags for both driver and passenger, new 15" flat face alloys and self-leveling rear suspension.The 560SEC stood at the top of the entire Mercedes-Benz model range and sold for about $76,000 in 1988. Only 1,533 were built in 1988 and unfortunately most of those have been neglected over the years. 1985 EURO SEC, Rare car. 20,000 miles on complete restore/rebuild including; engine, transmission, rear differential, driveshaft and center bearing, wheel bearings, bilstein shocks, bushings, radiator, etc. 200 miles on ac compressor/dryer and accumulator, tires, brakes and rotors, oil change. This is the sexiest Benz ever made. Runs beautifully, the engine is an all aluminum dual over head cam constant flow injection 5.0, custom exhaust with dual in-dual out cat with a cross over. Not loud, a very tasteful growl. Amazing road car, real, real good handling. Warning, if you drive it, you will want it bad. Power everything. Heated seats (back, butt or both with indicator lights) 1,600 watt alpine deck with sub woofer and cd player, (not a boom box). Big fat brand new tires. 17" aluminum Benz rims. Still needs re-upholstery on seats but have matching seat covers on it now. research tells me that only 1600 of this Euro SEC were made. (Way more sexy than the American model). Current registration and recent smog.
