BEAUTIFUL RARE BLACK DIAMOND EDITION 1976 LINCOLN MARK IV Before I get into the description of the car, let me give you a little history on the rarity of the BLACK DIAMOND EDITION MARK IV For 1976, four designer editions were offered: Bill Blass Edition, Cartier Edition, Givenchy Edition, and the Pucci Edition However, the rarest edition Mark IV was the Black Diamond Luxury Group. It started off with a basic 1976 Continental Mark IV, painted in a special Black Diamond Fire Metallic paint (code 1L, see picture), which was introduced late in the year specifically for this option. Topped by a Custom Landau Black Cayman-grain vinyl roof (code UA) with wide chrome moldings which featured a distinctive Alligator-grain vinyl pattern. This particular vinyl has a shinier finish from the manufacturing process, giving it an almost patent leather look, although not quite that shiny. It does have a higher level of gloss than most automotive vinyls commonly used for vinyl roof installations. Inside, a choice of Black Velour or Black Leather was available, both with Black Patent Leather Cross Straps. A few cars were reportedly built with either Dove Grey Versailles Velour or Dove Grey Leather and Vinyl, which were the same interiors used in the Cartier Designer Edition, but they used a different sew pattern, and did not feature the unique cross straps on the seats. The Black Diamond Luxury Group was announced late in the year, so the production run was a short one, which makes this a rarely seen option today. In fact, many may not even be aware of their Mark IV's special status, since this beautiful color combination is very understated when compared to some of the others available in 1976. In fact, as recently as a year ago one of these cars was offered for sale locally, advertised as "triple black with leather seats." The seller of the car, who just happened to be the original owner, had no idea as to its special status, or had long ago forgotten about it. Due to the rarity of this car, I only made modifications on the car that can be easily reversed. As you read below of the changes I made, you'll see that the car can easily be put back to an original Black Diamond Edition Mark IV should you choose to do so at some time in the future. This gorgeous car is in excellent condition. It has always been garage kept. It only has 54,274 original miles which is only 1,392 miles a year. This is a totally rust free car. I purchased it from the estate of the ORIGINAL OWNER, (see picture of original title). Paint & body - Excellent - Gorgeous Black Diamond Fire Metallic paint, (the metallic in this paint is amazing and really needs to be seen in person, pictures can't do it justice, but I tried to give you a better idea in the close up picture of front fender). Totally rust free car. I even included pictures of the underside of the doors. Vinyl top - Excellent - This is the rare "Cayman-grain" vinyl that looked like patent leather and was used only on the top's rear quarter. (See close up picture). Chrome - Excellent Interior - Excellent - Black Velour Cloth with Black Patent Leather Cross Straps. The dash, door panels, arm rests, door pull straps, wood grain dash trim, and steering wheel are in excellent condition with no cracks, no wear, no fading. The headliner and carpet are in excellent condition, and the back seat looks like it has never been sat on. All the gauges work just fine with the exception of the clock. The air conditioning has been completely gone thru and outfitted with a new compressor and a new blower motor, and the system has been updated to the modern refrigerant. It blows nice and cold. Engine - Excellent - 460 cubic inch V8 engine. All the belts and hoses have been replaced, oil and filter changed, complete tune up, new fuel pump, new battery, and new coolant. I fitted the powerful 460 with a modern Edelbrock carburetor, (see engine picture), which increases horsepower, AND improves throttle response, as it gives you improved gas mileage. (The original carburetor also goes with the car.) The engine also features a custom built low restriction dual exhaust system and polished custom exhaust tips. Transmission & rear end - Excellent Wheels and Tires - NEW - Wheels are 18" X 8" Ridler with 245/60/18 Milestar Performance tires. The original wheels with tires, (see picture), are NOT included with the sale of this car. However, they are available to the new owner of this car for an additional $600.00 should he or she decide they want to purchase them. So now you can see that due to the rarity of this car, I only made modifications on the car that can be easily reversed. The original carburetor goes with the car so it could be reinstalled on the car, the original wheels with tires DO NOT go with the car, but they are available to the buyer for an additional $600.00, and the exhaust can be returned to original at any competent exhaust shop. The car can easily be put back to an original Black Diamond Edition Mark IV should you choose to do so at some time in the future. If you're looking for a beautiful top notch classic custom to take to car shows, cruisin's, or to just drive and enjoy everyday... then look no further. I would consider the following cars as trade-ins towards the Mark IV: a Jaguar XKR Coupe, a hearse, or a personal limousine, (the type with fold down jump seats). All this car needs is you behind the wheel. Fly into Fort Myers Airport, I'll pick you up, and you can drive it home. This car is also advertised for sale locally, so I reserve the right to remove this listing at anytime before it ends. Any questions, call John 239 558 5969
