1980 Scout II - Factory Raven Edition For Sale is a 1980 IHC International Scout II Raven CVI (Custom Vehicle Incorporated) edition. This is a rare model of the Scout and one of very few survivors of it's kind that remain out there today. Only a handful were produced through CVI. These were dressed-up Scout models with special exterior decals and trim, center console coolers, hood scoops, and some editions had plastic window louvers on the rear side glass, fender flares, and two different plastic tailgate inserts. This Scout is very solid, and has been garage kept for the majority of it's 34 year life. I am the third owner. The previous owner purchased it from a big rig dealership in southern Virginia, Goodwin Truck and Tractor, who held on to it in 1980 as it was the last CVI they had left over when Scouts went out of production that year. The vehicle went to Pennsylvania with the owner's relative for a brief period of time, and then was brought back to southern Virginia where it spent the duration of its first decade at the dealership in a silo style weather proof building on the dealerships premises. He came across this Scout in 2007 and purchased it from the elderly dealership owner who was not really interested in selling at the time, but he made him a nice offer. This Scout has the original everything in the drive train. A 345 V8 engine and automatic transmission. The mileage on the odometer is 34,485 which is short of the actual amount. The speedometer was replaced prior to my purchasing the vehicle by the dealership. The actual mileage is somewhere around 50K. It has a flow master custom built exhaust, electronic ignition installed in distributor, and a brand new battery. The Scout sits on it's fully restored original poly-cast wheels with brand new 33x10.50/15 BFG All Terrain Tires (less than 150 miles) and a 4" suspension lift. It cranks, runs, drives down the road, and functions great - it truly starts on the first bump of the ignition every time, just like it was fuel injected. The four wheel drive functions as it did from the factory however it has never been off road. Four wheel drive engaged only for maintenance. Windshield wipers, washers, signals, taillights, headlights, interior lights, everything down to the AC functions however the AC needs a charge. The locking hubs were upgraded to WARN manual hubs back in 2007 when the prior owner purchased it. He also replaced some rusted metal in the drivers floor pan with fresh, factory-correct panels. All the original labels, and paperwork are available to include the line setting ticket where it was designed and built in the factory back in 1980. Also, the original CVI equipment to include the tailgate insert, side louvers, rocker covers, and interior console are in great shape and in place (see pictures). The Scout has been kept in a garage since purchasing it from the original owner in 2007, and has only been driven for leisure and maintenance. The oil used is Mobile 1. Filters are K&N (Oil and Air). The interior is clean and sharp. There's a Kenwood cd player in the dash. Like all scouts, the top comes off, and I will include a convertible top with the purchase. The Scout is located in Nashville, Tennessee. I will consider reasonable offers. To more directly compete with the open air Jeep CJ (available without doors and a top), in the late 1970s International Harvester introduced a roadster version of the Scout II -- the Super Scout II (or SSII). A factory-built SSII is rare -- out of 44,000 Scout IIs produced in 1979, only around 700 were SSIIs. A copy of the factory Line Setting Ticket confirms this 1979 Super Scout II to be the genuine article. Clad in Rallye Gold with the correct graphics package, this example is correct to its Line Setting Ticket in nearly every detail. Paint quality is excellent and the bumpers, flares and fiberglass door inserts are in great condition. 33x12.50 tires on very nice steel wagon wheels. A modest two-inch lift and slightly larger-than-stock tires provide a great stance while still being easy to get in and out of. The interior shows well with new seat upholstery front and rear. Dash is excellent with all gauges working and a modern AM/FM/CD/AUX/USB stereo. Under the hood is a 345 cubic inch V8 mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with 3.54 gears. The engine has just been resealed and the truck also just got a new clutch, aluminum radiator, heater core, alternator, fuel pump, Edelbrock carb, belts and hoses. All service is up to date and the truck runs and drives very well. Up for grabs is a 1979 International Scout 2 that has lived its life in the San Francisco Bay area. I have all the orignal invoices and details from when the scout was bought in 1979 in Hayward, CA . The truck sat for years in the back yard of a machine shop and I received it in a trade for a machine, it was not running when I got it because of a vacuum leak, bad starter and bad gas but I got all of that sorted out and its running now and I have put about 200 miles on it since I got it running, both freeway and local miles. The next project on the list was the electrical which is about due for a clean up. The gauge cluster is currently not working but the truck is charging and the headlights and tail lights work, so guessing it some little thing in the dash that either was disconnected or maybe grounding out. Before I got it the inside of the truck was ryno-lined with black spray on and it looks in good condition, the seats are in the back and so are the fiberglass sides to the hard top. Over all the vehicle is about 6.5 out of 10 in quality but is not far off from really getting dialed in a running strong and making it an 8 to 9. Everything looks good and runs good with very minor damage, the paint on the hood, small rust spot near the front windshield and the rear passenger quarter are some of the only real damage to the truck. Check it out and ask questions, I am happy to answer. Located in Berkeley, CA I have not done the California smog or reg up to date since i got it about 8 months ago just because its been a side project parked inside my shop, I have machines showing up that will take its spot and I have one medical bill to pay so thats why I am selling it. Thanks Jeff .
