Description 1970 Ford Torino FACTORY TASCA DRAG PACK!!!Marti Report Verified 1 of 241 TOTAL Production429 Super Cobra Jets 1 of 125 Total SCJ 4-Speeds Factory Medium Red Paint CarFactory Black Bench SeatFactory 3.91 Traction-Lok AxleFactory 4-Speed Close Ratio Transmission When talking High Performance, Drag Race Fords, no dealer name is better known than Tasca Ford. Tasca was one of the best known & largest driving forces behind the development of the famous 428 Cobra Jet engine. When the transition to the 429 came they lead the way too. They special ordered stripper versions like this car. The only options being the Drag-Pack, F70X 14 White Sidewall Tires and an AM radio. This was really as light as you could get a Torino with the exception of the radio. They also avoided the Shaker Ram Air and the Cobra options that would have been a dead give away to high performance car. This was basically a big bad wolf in sheep’s clothing. This GT has of course been repainted in what appears to be a rare & very cool Ford color from 1987, Dark Shadow Blue. The paint has imperfections you would expect from an older paint job, but still presents well. Easily nice enough to cruise around with your head held high in this Super Rare Drag-Pack. The panels line up well and the addition of the Shaker Ram Air Induction is really cool too. This is a very solid body with minimal rust for the breed. There are a couple minor bubbles in the front door corners and rear quarters but overall much nicer than most. The structure of the car is quite good. The frame rails are in good condition and upon close inspection inside them you can still see the galvanizing. The Factory Black Bench Seat Interior presents well. Again, this was the truest sign of a sleeper. Just a bench seat, no console. The carpet was just replaced with a new reproduction kit. The seat upholstery shows minor wear with no obvious separations or damage. The door panels look good and again show only minor wear. The dash pad does have the normal crack but overall it is quite forgivable with the cars age. Under the hood the original SCJ engine has been replaced with a 2-Bolt Main 429 CJ with the correct D0OE-R Cylinder Heads, Exhaust Manifolds and CJ Intake Manifold. It is reported to have low miles on the restoration though we do not have any receipts on the build. It runs strong though and will easily defend its heritage. A factory Shaker Ram Air System has been added and no matter if it is original to the car or not, it looks cool and does add some horsepower in the real world giving the Big Block an unlimited supply of cool air to breath. The 4-Speed Transmission was just professionally rebuilt and it wears the rare RUG AU1 tag code which calls out for a 70 Torino 429 Close Ratio with 31-Spline Output. The Hurst shifter works nicely with crisp engagement. It works well and can certainly stand up to the abuse. The 3.91 Traction-Lock Differential is still in place, housed in the ultra rare ‘N’ Case Nodular 9” Differential with 31 Spline Axles. This is bar none, the most copied and reproduced differential made. So if you are in the market for a Real Deal Muscle Car, one with fire breathing Big Block Drag Pack Power, this is quite possibly the car. Not only does it pack the fire power, you need to consider the upside of this car. Being one of only 125 TOTAL SCJ 4-Speed cars, not to mention that this is GT, not the Cobra, it is VERY likely a 1 of 1 car. Add in the Fact that this car came from the one & only Tasca Ford and you have a very valuable & unique part of Muscle Car history! Here is a once in a life time opportunity to own this 1970 ford Torino Super cobra Jet With 57 K Original miles. . This is a 2 owner car and is highly documented with Original window sticker , Marti Report and more. this is a collector grade car in every way and one of the Rarest muscle cars to exist . The 1970 torino 429 SCJ was the fastest muscle car built besides the Chevy LS 6 Chevelle . This car is Calypso Coral and the paint is stunning in every way. It has had only one repaint and the car is all original. No Rust ever . The body is straight as a arrow and all the lines match up perfectly Also the undercarriage is beautiful and shows like new. Frame is solid and no rust anywhere.Start her up and she shakes the pavement. Its loud and has a nice Growl and the car drives 100 % like when new. Power Steering and Brakes and Am factory Radio . The Black Interior is pristine in every way and again original .Car comes with Factory louvers on rear window, Shaker hood with Ram air scoop and Tachometer. . The car is equipped with the select shift - cruise O matic transmission. Factory drag pack. with Detroit locker rear end and 430 gears. Only 30 cars were produced with this color ,interior, engine and transmission with a Drag Pack of those Only 6 had the 430 Gears. . 116 of these cars with Black bucket seats. and Only one with a Visibility Light Group. This is that car. 1 of 1 made and highly optioned.. Many of these cars out there are Clones or people saying they have a 429 SCJ. This one is real. Engine specs are Ram Air , Holley 750 CFM Carb,11:31 Compression,Solid Lifter cam shaft, 4 bolt mains, oil cooler, special heads,Forged aluminum pistons, and a Detroit Locker Rear axle with 430 Gears. A true muscle car built for the Drag strip in 1970 . The Factory quoted the H.P to be a 375 . at 5400 RPMs but that was for ins purposes and advantages on the track. In reality the car has been on a Dyno pushing nearly 500 HP. It was faster then all hemi cars, including the daytona charger , Yenko camaro, only .01 seconds slower then the Ls6 chevelle. This car is a piece of automobile history and will skyrocket in price in the next few years. 1 lucky person will get a chance to own a car that no one will ever have. I have all the documents on this car. Elite Marti Report, Original window sticker , production data of when built etc. I will list options below and please look at the Marti report and all the documentation, I am Pricing this car to sell and will accept the best offer that is acceptable to me. In 1970, the heavy-breathing 429 was offered up in three configurations: the 360-hp Thunder Jet, the hydraulic-lifter 370-hp Cobra Jet (CJ) and finally, the 375-hp Super Cobra Jet (SCJ).The only way buyers could up the ante for the 429 SCJ was to check the box for the Drag Pack option. This gave performance-minded buyers a 429- ci engine with 4-bolt mains, solid lifter cam, forged pistons, big-mouth 780 CFM Holley carburetor and an engine oil cooler to help keep the beast from melting down on a hot pass. Buyers also received a 4.30:1 Detroit Locker or 3.91:1 Traction-Lok rear differential to keep all that power in check. The Shaker Hood was another option, as the SCJ was available with or without Ram Air induction. The performance lineup for the Torino came in two packages: the Torino Cobra or the Torino GT. The Torino Cobra was a bare-bones variant, as it was designed more for no-frills street performance while sacrificing some creature comforts. The GT was marketed toward more affluent buyers, as the option list was longer, with more trim and décor levels while still offering up some pretty stout performance numbers. The GT with the 429 SCJ and drag pack running through the 3.91:1 gears hit the clock at just under 14 seconds in the quarter mile, which isn’t too shabby for a bloated, 3,700-pound 4-seater.The original buyer obviously ordered our subject car for some formidable street action. The only missing items are bucket seats and a 4-speed tranny. The factory air conditioning was a trade-out for the C-6 transmission, as buyers could not get the 429 SCJ combined with A/C and a 4-speed on the floor. The overall combination certainly made a hot street package, and it offered up room for four and a trunk worthy of carrying more than a few bags of groceries. First photo is for reference only! This car needs to be re-assembled. Rotisserie restoration. Car was disassembled, media-blasted, and then went into paint/body. Full sheetmetal, no bondo. Fully documented with photos. Frame rails sealed with Rust-Mort, bottom and interior of car sealed with POR-15 black and Tie-Coat Primer. Bottom of the car and wheel-houses were then painted with Calypso Coral - the original color of the car. This car will never have rust issues. The 429 and C6 are in original, unrestored condition. Many parts, such as window regulators, were media-blasted and painted, then wrapped and boxed up for storage. Some parts will still need to be cleaned up. Many parts are new, NOS parts purchased over the years. Have the Twist-Lok hood pins in NOS condition. This car didn't originally have the Shaker hood and scoop, but somebody converted it. I have the Shaker parts. Rear axle is the original N case 31-spline 3.50 Traction Lok, complete with identification tag. Any pieces that have been replaced, were replaced, when possible, with NOS Torino parts. The front suspension has many new parts, as does the rear suspension, with new rubber parts such as rear spring mounts, etc. This is a power-steering and power-disk-brake car. After paint, the front and rear suspension was put back in to make a rolling chassis. The wheels and tires currently on the car are from one of the #40 Carver Racing NASCAR cars. They are marked "15 Laps".What the car needs: Continued reassembly. The dash and interior need to be installed. The dash pad has some cracks, and should be replaced. Have the new chrome bezel and trim plate that says "Cobra" for the dash. The original one is still on the dash. Bought a new (correct fit) dash speaker. I will install that before it leaves. Reupholstry for seats has been paid for, and seats will be in freshly re-covered condition. You will need to buy the carpet set and new headliner fabric. Front seats are buckets, and original upholstry was the black Turin knit.I believe that I have every part of the car to finish the assembly. Plus, there will be many extras left over. If there are any little pieces missing, I apologize now.I bought a second set of doors, due to some nasty welding present on the original doors, where the door latches are. someone did a terrible job repairing some cracks there, and welded some big washers all around the door latches. The new doors look really nice, but will need to be cleaned up. Oh, I am missing the grille. I don't know if the previous owner sold it, or whatever, but it was not there when I bought the car. The grilles are hard to find, and I am taking that into consideration when pricing this car.Every Torino guru will tell you that their car has this or that value. Currently, NADA values the car in the low to mid $70,000 range. Realistically, these cars, when rotisserie-restored, sell somewhere in the $40,000 to mid $50,000 range. We are asking $17,000. This leaves you approximately $20,000 to $30,000 cushion on the car. When I bought this car, I was single, and had a good job. I had all the time in the world to work on it. Now, I'm married, own my own business, and have a 9 month old child - which equates to no-time-for-anything but work, work, and work. This car is NOT "an old whore in a new dress", which is a lot of what you see for sale out there. When you strip a car completely, and media-blast it, you find out what you really have. This car is rock-solid. Here is your chance to own it today. This is true American Muscle!

Up for sale we have a very sweet frame-on restored 1970 Ford Torino Cobra painted the gorgeous original Grabber Green and we have a Marti report to verify! The car was restored with all Ford parts and the turn-out was amazing! The car has a "built" 429 Big Block "Thunder Jet" Ford that was completely gone through and no expenses were spared. The car has A/C with a brand new pump, but it needs plumbing to be complete and operational. The transmission is a 4-Speed manual with Hurst shifter. Some of the upgrades include 4.10 gears, a mild cam, headers and 3 inch exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers (the car sounds amazing!) The car has awesome looking brand new Magnum wheels along with brand new tires. The body on the car is very straight and all body panels are in great shape! The car is a really nice driver and that is what it was built for, not to be a trailer queen. The Torino runs and drives great like it should and has plenty of power! This car is rare! What makes it rare is the fact that the car was specially order with a factory bench seat and without a Shaker hood. To see a video of the Torino running: Click here Information about the Ford Torino's: The Torino Cobra remained the no-nonsense pure performance model, and had a lower level of trim than the Torino GT. The Cobra was only available as a SportsRoof model, and came standard with a 4-speed close ratio transmission, Hurst shifter, competition suspension, flat black hood and grille, 7-inch-wide wheels, F70-14 tires with raised white letters, twist style exposed hood latches, and "Cobra" emblems. New options included 15-inch (380 mm) Magnum 500 wheels with F60-15 tires and flat black "Sport Slats" for the rear window. Both of these options were also available on the Torino GT. Performance was excellent with the new 429 engine even though the Torino was heavier for 1970. Motor trend tested a 1970 Torino Cobra equipped with the Ram Air 370 horsepower (280 kW) 429 CJ, C-6 automatic and 3.50:1 rear axle, and it went 0 - 60 mph (97 km/h) in 6.0 seconds while taking 14.5 seconds at 100 mph (160 km/h) to go through the quarter mile. Motor Trend wrote "The weight obviously helped traction, as it was fairly easy to accelerate away from a standing start with only a modicum of wheelspin." Motor Trend also tested a 1970 Cobra with a 429 SCJ, 4-speed and 3.91:1 gears, and resulted in a 5.8 second 0 - 60 mph (97 km/h) time, with a 13.99 second quarter mile at 101.0 mph (162.5 km/h).[12] Super Stock and Drag Illustrated bested that time, in their test of a Torino Cobra equipped with the 375 hp 429 SCJ, C-6 automatic, and 3.91:1 rear gears. They were able to run the quarter mile in 13.63 seconds at 105.95 mph (170.51 km/h), however, this was after the carburetor had been modified (improved power valve, larger primary and secondary jets). Super Stock and Drag Illustrated then fitted a pair of slicks to the same Torino and ran a super quick 13.39 seconds at 106.96 mph (172.14 km/h).Serious inquiries only! Please e-mail me with any questions or concerns. Thanks for looking.
