Remarkably clean 1972 FORD Ranchero 500. An unmolested CALIFORNIA Ranchero since new, with original factory A/C and good miles, not customized but tastefully refurbished with a classy, non-intrusive mild restoration, without altering its original components. This 500 is an ALL-MATCHING NUMBERS to its VIN. It is a body code 97D originally sold in San Jose, CA in 1972 ( DSO 72 ). Color code is marked as 9A, and 159,812 in the unit build assembly line. This is a very straight example that looks very sharp despite it being an older restoration ( around 2009). Original 156K miles on the chassis, and about 29K miles on a rebuild, which included: ISKY cam and lifters CLOYES timing chain Custom-made headers and performance dual exhaust ( with GT bumper) Edelbrock dual-plenum intake HOLLEY 650 High-flow TRW oil pump Three-angle valve job by Jerry Neil White machining Crank ground, chamfered and balanced Carrillo mains and rod bearings Short block assembly by JNW machining There are numerous other mods done, to include a rebuilt C4 automatic transmission with a B&M Shift kit installed, B&M shift improver, new modulator, etc. Mileage on the transmission is about the same as the engine. It shifts perfect, with no slippage, lag or chatter, and NO clunking going into reverse or any forward gear. Super heavy-duty 9" Ford rear, with what I think was 3:5o ratio( I'm sorry, it's been a while). New axle bearings, axle seals, HD re-balanced driveshaft, Lakewood U joints, SKF front and rear wheel bearings, etc. The body of this Ranchero is extremely straight, with no rust of chassis, frame, floorboards, door panels, fenders, quarters, tailgate or hood. Very good-quality re-spray in its original yellow factory finish, very well done. It still glows like it was just painted. ALL body panels line up very well, doors close smoothly, the hood and tailgate are smooth and rust-free. Most of the original chrome is still there, but I am missing a couple of bits as pictured. I misplaced the front turn signals ( if I find them, I will include them), and a couple of trim pieces; otherwise, the car is 99% complete and original. The interior is very clean as pictured, with two-tone black & bone inserts on the professionally reupholstered seat and door paneling. Excellent headliner and sun visors. MINT original dash. AUTOMETER tach nicely mounted in-dash, and auxiliary instruments mounted on the left window pillar. 15" CRAGAR alloys with decent radial tires ( approximately 70% tread); sidewalls have a few small weathering cracks from age. Tires are cheap these days anyway, and most folks have their own preferences, thus I am leaving them as they are. Overall, a CLEAN 72' 500, the one to own, with the unique shark nose, GT hood, GT rear bumper and nice custom interior. Reasonably priced compared to everything else on the market, allowing for a savvy buyer's personal touches and improvements, while still a VERY CLEAN ride, with a lot more than my asking price in upgrades alone. I am a motivated seller, and I am willing to consider SERIOUS offers, thus I reserve the right to end this auction at any time, if a BUY-IT-NOW or a serious offer presents itself. Please, do not ask what I would take for the car; I am not looking to recover what I have spent, let alone total cost. I am selling my Ranchero to fund finishing of my old 66' Land Rover 109 LWB restoration ( I am not in any dire need of cash, and would prefer to convert this Ranchero into funds for my 109). If you are indeed a serious, potential buyer, and know what a clean 72' Ranchero is worth, I am reasonable and will consider a SERIOUS bid. This Ranchero has a clear California title, and has been in non-operating status for the last five years ( I have been deployed more times than I have had time to spend driving it and tinkering with it), and it is not regularly driven. That being said, it starts right up, and drives fine. Besides some basic servicing and perhaps a fresh tune, it is turn-key. I shall be glad to assist coordinating shipping of the FORD Ranchero anywhere nationwide or overseas, at the most economical shipping rate available. Please be aware, I do not control pick up or delivery times should you purchase it; that is pending weather conditions and shipping/ trucking delivery schedules. I will do everything I can on my end to ensure and expedite delivery at the most financially sensible rate on the market. Should you be the winning bidder, I would like t receive payment within THREE business days, please. Payment can be made via cashier's check or certified funds. Personal, business or annuity checks may be utilized, but must clear funds first, prior to any transportation arrangements being made. An alternate method of payment can be done via bank wire transfer to my local CHASE Bank branch here in town. It is a very simple process, and it helps expedite delivery of the car. Upon receipt of payment, I will mail you the title and a Bill of sale to the car. Feel free to EM or call me with questions or serious inquiries at (650) 430-4660, no later than 9 pm PST, please ( I have kids that go to school early and go to bed early). Thank you all for your interest, and hope to find this cool Ranchero a loving home soon. Pics and description coming shortly.
