Let’s be honest, what could be more fun than owning your own police car? Sure, we’ve all seen the fakie-doo police cars at local car shows, done up by guys who love to feel like they are in charge, but a REAL honest to goodness police car, with sirens and all sorts of cool gadgets to play with? ( the car sold to my friend back in 2011 by R K Motors Charlotte here is the original video link to there ad- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnvv-X380nM, copy and paste it ) According to the car’s original title, which is included with the sale, it was sold to the Greenville County, South Carolina Sheriff’s Department on June 8, 1984. Now, after years of service and a top notch cosmetic restoration, this LTD has to be one of the cleanest and nicest original Police cars available for purchase anywhere. ALL of this LTDs original police equipment is present and in excellent working order. Even cooler, its stalwart special order 5.0L Mustang V8 is loaded for bear and ready to hit the road. If you’re looking for a unique collector car that will start a conversation anywhere you take it, this LTD police car is your hot ticket. Redesigned for the 1983 model year, the final generation American LTD utilized Ford’s venerable Fox platform to perfect a ‘downsized’ police car formula which began with the 1978 Fairmont. Because of its rear wheel drive layout and available V8, the LTD offered a variety of niche models that its front wheel drive cross-town rivals simply couldn’t compete with. One of those niche models was the 1984-85 LTD police package which combined the Mustangs 5.0 liter V8 with an enhanced suspension package from the LTD LX to create what many cops referred to as ‘the four door Mustang’. With a top speed of 123 MPH and a durable, performance proven platform, these tough little police cars were great at catching speeders and firmly established Ford as a leader in the fiercely loyal police market. An official looking solid black car seems to be the prototypical vehicle of most law enforcement agencies, surpassed only by white in terms of popularity; which is most likely due to cheaper cost. Exceptionally maintained throughout its entire life and likely refurbished at some point as a public relations show piece, this vintage, real deal police car is in outstanding, era correct condition. Deep and glossy black lacquer paint hints that a detailed cosmetic restoration was likely completed many years ago (meaning the car probably spent very little time getting beat up on the streets before it was retired to show status) and its weather stripping is supple, its doors close tightly and there are no rattles or squeaks anywhere to be found. The car’s rust free body is as straight as when it left the factory displaying no blemishes or parking lot dings and its rich black paint is devoid of any major flaws. Based on appearance alone, it’s safe to assume this LTD was one lucky car which didn’t see much extreme use at all and, since its restoration, likely hasn’t been outside of a garage for more than a few hours at a time. This car was previously owned by a Sergeant of the South Miami Police Department This unit is loaded with options available including cloth bucket front seating with side air bags, and vinyl flooring. Aside from being a Police Interceptor, this car was also ordered with driver and passenger airbags, factory AM/FM stereo, functioning Unity spotlight, a gun rack in the trunk and a gun holster under the steering wheel. For a souvenir, south Miami patch badge on dashboard included. Nice driving, tight unit...not a beat-up police car. It is as close to driving a brand-new car as you will ever experience. It has been extremely well maintained, actually over-maintained, and needs no known repairs. It has NEVER been smoked in, and is in excellent condition inside and out. Maintenance has been performed every 3000 miles, we also have service records available. It has a spotless Carfax and AutoCheck vehicle history report. It has never been smoked in, and still smells new inside. It has been extremely well-maintained and it runs, drives and handles as close to new as you will ever find. The trunk compartment is extremely clean and has a gun rack if you wish to hang your personal firearms. Police Interceptor package which includes the 4.6-liter SOHC V8 engine, 4-speed overdrive heavy-duty transmission, optional heavy-duty 3.55 ratio "Traction-Lok" limited-slip rear axle. Very responsive, smooth-shifting and, of course, very fast. This vehicle, as most used police vehicles do, will have imperfections...this typically includes; minor scratches, chips, nicks, etc., however, I could find nothing that would even show up on camera, that is how clean this car is...that being said, this car has no known mechanical defects and it runs and drives excellent. Please remember, this is a used government vehicle, and not new, although it is probably as close to it as you will ever find. Condition / Functional: This surplused 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Interceptor starts, runs and cruises tight and smooth, the brakes seem like-new and the steering still feels very tight and accurate. Some taxi companies have operated these cruisers well past 300,000 miles (when properly maintained). No unusual noise(s) coming from engine, no Check Engine Light present, the transmission shifts smoothly into all gears as when brand new. The rear door locks and related mechanisms have been reinstalled. The horn and the courtesy dome light have been reactivated. All (4) power windows work properly as well as the automatic Cruise Control. All power driver seat settings work properly. The A/C clutch is so quiet that you really need to pay attention to perceive when it engages. The car has not yet completed 200 miles since the oil was changed using full-synthetic Mobil 1 oil, new motorcraft oil filter and FRAM air filter were installed. A set of new Iridium plugs appear to have been installed not long ago – so, replacement was not needed. The car is currently using 93 octane gas; however, this vehicle is designed to work properly with lower octane fuels. Actual mileage might change a few miles due to test drives/transport to storage. Very well maintained, in above average condition. Condition - Exterior / Interior: The paint is near new condition; however, being a used police cruiser, some hard to find dings or dents might be present. The roof and trunk panels have been refinished to eliminate the factory drilled antenna holes. Also, as noted, I ordered the removal of the Police Spot light, the driver’s side paint was refinished accordingly to conceal the spotlight chamfer at the door frame and a new LH Front Interior “A” Pillar Trim cover was installed. The undercarriage shows signs of light rust since the vehicle spent most of the time in the upper states, particularly Virginia. The vehicle may be inspected by you or your designee by appointment until Wed., Sept. 23rd - 04:00p.m. E.T.; I will try to accommodate every appointment request.
