Well, this is it. Beautifully finished, this 1937 Ford slantback 2-door sedan shows off what the ideal combination of modifications and style can do to what was once just a transportation appliance. OK, so nobody will ever accuse the 1937 Fords of being ugly, so that's probably why the guys who built this one left the sheetmetal alone. No chopped top, no radical de-trimming, and no outrageous paint job, just clean, honest Ford steel in the original shape. Of course, fit and finish are worlds beyond what Henry could manage in 1937, even if he were willing to spend the money to get it to this level. Look closely and you'll note a few mods, including the shaved hood ornament and smooth deck lid, but nothing that immediately jumps out as a custom touch. The body was smoothed and finished to a very high standard before several coats of luscious black basecoat went on, followed by a few layers of clear for an impossibly deep shine. While they were at it, they gave the grille a coat of the same stuff, and you'll love how it highlights the body's subtle creases and curves. A simple band of stainless trim highlights the curves of the bodywork and the bumpers were tucked in tight for a smoother look. The interior is the kind of place that you'd be happy to spend a weekend or more, thanks to comprehensive upgrades that make it as comfortable as a modern luxury car. The front are beautiful low-back tan buckets, and in back the original bench has been retained. Upholstery is tan leather so its bright and airy with a strong sense of style and it's plenty comfortable for long-distance cruising. The original dash has been reworked, and the stock instrument panel has given way to a billet insert with modern VDO dials for all the major systems. A powerful A/C system is so neatly integrated that you'll have a hard time believing that Ford wasn't building them this way in 1937. A gorgeous leather-rimmed banjo-style steering wheel lives atop a tilt column and that billet aluminum shift lever links to a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Under that slanting deck lid, you'll find a surprisingly spacious trunk with a cleverly disguised battery box and neatly finished tan carpets. The engine is a Chevy 350 cubic inch V8, so you know it's powerful and reliable out on the road. Fully dressed with lots of chrome, this will be part of the reason for the crowd forming around this car. A big Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor atop a polished intake is a time-tested combination, and the dual exhaust system was built as much for sound as for performance, because this car sounds amazing. The front suspension is a familiar dropped I-beam with disc brakes, while out back there's a 9-inch Ford hanging on leaf springs. The quality of the workmanship is evident everywhere you look, and it has not been driven much since it was completed, so even the chassis is bright, shiny, and clean. Even the polished Torque Thrust wheels and fat rubber don't seem to show much use at all. Expertly engineered and beautifully finished, this is the car you've been dreaming about adding to your collection. This 1965 Mustang coupe is just the right kind of car to get started in the hobby and no collection is complete without one of Ford's pony cars. It's not perfect, it's not a horsepower monster, but it is a clean, dependable, fun way to have fun in an old car without breaking the bank. No other car can deliver the experience of an early Mustang for so little cash. You can hardly go wrong with a bright red Mustang, and while it was originally Springtime Yellow, the current color is closer to Poppy Red, which means you're going to get a lot of attention. It was never intended to be a show car (coupes just don't command the prices to justify a $10,000 paint job), but it presents rather well and you won't worry about driving it just about anywhere. Rain? No problem. Bugs? Forget about it. It's got a clean, honest look that works best on coupes and it's been spared the stripes and wings that plague so many other ponies. You'll note that it fits together extremely well, with good gaps and tight seams all around, so it has probably never been wrecked or rusty and seems to have led a pretty good life. A few chrome pieces make the Mustang look dressy, including the 1965-only grille with the cross-hairs, the quarter panel insert, and, of course, a shiny gas cap in the center of the rear panel. You'll also note two exhaust pipes hanging under the bumper, but we'll get to that in a moment. The black bucket seat interior is how this car was originally delivered and it's in very good shape overall. It's probably a combination of original and replacement parts, because some things are just too nice to be 50 years old, including the carpets and the seat covers. There's a deep-dish steering wheel that's wrapped in an aftermarket cover, so it has a thicker rim that feels great, and the standard instruments keep an eye on the basics. The dash pad, headliner, and other soft parts don't need any attention at all, and with an AM/FM/cassette radio powering speakers on the rear package shelf, it's ready to go. The shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission falls easily to hand and looks great between the seats and the back seat is in great shape, too. A neatly detailed trunk with a proper plaid mat and spare tire with cover makes this little car feel complete, and you'll note there's no sign of the original yellow paint, so the respray was quite thorough. Experts will note that the VIN contains a "C" which means a 2-barrel 289, but somewhere along the way someone has installed a smooth-running 200 cubic inch inline-six, which is hardly a handicap. It's rebuilt and has a legendary reputation for durability and smoothness, and if you look around, you'll find a lot of guys who are very passionate about this engine. It looks quite stock with Ford Blue engine enamel, but it's dressed up with a chrome valve cover and open-element air cleaner that has a definite Mustang vibe. The transmission shifts crisply and smoothly and with 2.80 gears out back, it's a wonderfully efficient car on the highway. The exhaust has a 1-into-2 muffler out back, which explains the dual exhaust and it gives the six a great sound that's a little different than all the rest. You'll also find a new gas tank out back and 195/75/14 whitewall radials on stock steel wheels with traditional Mustang hubcaps. For entry-level fun, it's hard to beat a Mustang coupe. Everyone loves these cars and few will realize just how affordable they are. A great opportunity for the first-time classic car buyer. That remains to be seen, but the bottom line is that this 2003 Ford Thunderbird is still a first-class ticket and a wonderful piece of retro styling that makes everyone long for a simpler time. Ford knew what they were doing when they rolled out the 2-seater Thunderbird convertible, capturing the look and feel of the original while updating in every way. This one wears classic black, a traditional color that accentuates the long, sleek profile and offers a modern take on a classic '50s look. The dark paint accentuates the long, low profile and works better than many of the other colors offered. With just 41,223 miles showing on the clock, you know this one is in excellent shape in every way and has lived an easy life, like most Thunderbirds, as a future collectable. As such, it's never seen snow, never been wrecked, and if it's even been in the rain, it was only in an emergency because this was not a daily driver. Build quality on these cars is quite good (Ford obviously knew their halo car had better be excellent in every way) and the various parts fit together better than you'd expect and offers doors that close with a reassuringly heavy feeling. Unlike so many 2-seat convertibles, this 'Bird feels substantial. There's still a bit of chrome, mostly on the grille, and all of those details are in as-new condition, too. The black and red interior is a dramatic contrast to the relatively subtle bodywork, elegant and sporty in every way. With such low mileage, there are almost no signs of use save for a few wrinkles on the driver's seat leather, and even those might have been there when the hides were still on the cow. Black carpets are unmarked, protected by some carpeted floor mats that are bound in red piping, and the lovely two-tone leather steering wheel isn't dirty or discolored. Heck, even the shifter knob is wrapped in matching red leather! Just about everything was standard on the Thunderbird, including automatic climate control, power windows, locks, mirrors, and seats, cruise control, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo that sounds great when you're running alfresco. The big, clear gauges have a retro feel but aren't duplicates of old gauges but a modern take on a classic look, right down to the turquoise-colored pointers. A power convertible top is the one you'll use most often, but it also includes a color-matched porthole hardtop so you can use it year-round. Ford's 3.9 liter V8 engine is smooth, torquey, and utterly capable in the smooth 2-seat 'Bird. It's not made for tire-shredding performance, but if you want to hustle, it's ready and willing. Properly maintained from new, it's turn-key ready for a cross-country road trip, and with the 5-speed automatic transmission behind it, fuel economy is decent. Like the original Thunderbirds, the suspension is supple without being soggy, and the all-independent setup rarely puts a tire wrong. Big disc brakes give it a level of confidence earlier Thunderbirds would have appreciated and the dual exhaust has just the right eight-cylinder burble. This one currently wears a set of chrome Thunderbird wheels with 235/50/17 Michelin radials, and the bright wheels are the perfect complement to the black paint, making this a very flashy T-Bird indeed. Only time will tell if these are legitimate collectables, but buying a low-mileage Thunderbird in a great color combination is a great first step. It's also nicely finished with an easy-to-own six-cylinder engine and automatic transmission, making it one of the smartest collectable icons you can own. Bright red Mustangs are a staple of the old car community, but nobody ever seems to get tired of them. This looks like a good approximation of Signal Flare Red, but whatever it's called, it looks great on the handsome convertible bodywork. Clearly a lot more than the asking price was pumped into the project and they seem to have started with a decent car, so it was relatively easy to make it look so good. It's not perfect, but if you want a Mustang to drive, this one has the right look and a no-worries attitude that doesn't mind a little rain. Fortunately, it hasn't been covered in stripes or fake badges and keeps its honest entry-level look that was probably a lot more common in the late-60s than it is today. The chrome and other bright pieces are in good shape, and you will likely discover like all Mustang owners eventually do, that everyone is your friend when you drive a vintage Mustang no matter what's living under the hood. The bright red interior is quite nicely turned out, with relatively recent seat covers on the low-back buckets that duplicate the originals in pattern and materials. The three-spoke steering wheel is standard Mustang-issue and looks sporty with a leather wrapper, while the instrument panel offers a complete array of GT-spec gauges that became standard equipment in 1966. The carpets are a little faded but that doesn't diminish the appeal of the Mustang's interior, and yes, there's a console running down the middle, a nice addition to any Mustang's interior. An AM/FM/cassette radio lives in the dash, but no cutting was required for the installation, and there's a modern cup holder setup to make it a bit more practical. It includes a white convertible top that's in good condition, as well as a matching red boot to keep it clean-looking with the top down. Pop the trunk and you'll find a reproduction trunk mat and a full-sized spare tire with a matching cover. The engine is a nice-running 200 cubic inch inline-six, which really was the heart of the Mustang lineup for the early years. All the signs point to this being the Mustang's original engine and it's nice to see that it hasn't been "upgraded" to a V8, because the Sprint 200 is a fun engine in its own right. A "Powered by Ford" valve cover and a silver air cleaner add some zip to the under-hood area, and all the major components are in excellent shape and ready to enjoy. It still exhales into a single exhaust system with transverse muffler, and the undercarriage is in good shape with plenty of evidence of a good life in a car-friendly climate, although it's mostly original. The 3-speed automatic transmission shifts nicely and with highway gears out back, it has plenty of punch around town but cruises happily at modern highway speeds. 14-inch steel wheels with classic wire wheel covers wear recent 195/75/14 whitewall radials. The Mustang still represents a lot of affordable fun, so if you're looking for and affordable yet popular way into the hobby, this handsome little convertible is an excellent choice. Look closely and you'll note a few mods, including Vee'd windshield and blue dot taillights, but given how good it looks, you won't get more attention with radical modifications. The body was smoothed and finished to a very high standard before several coats of black paint went on, which gives it an appropriate look. It's got a few signs of use and age, but if you appreciate the classic look and just want to update the driving experience, this is your car. The interior is the kind of place that you'd be happy to spend a weekend or more, thanks to comprehensive upgrades that make it as comfortable as a modern luxury car. The front seats are custom gray leather buckets and in back the original bench has been retained and covered in the same stuff, so it's bright and airy with a strong sense of style. Gorgeous custom door panels are attractive and functional, but not over-done, so they work rather well with the rest of the car. The original dash has been painted to match the bodywork and the stock instrument panel has given way to a trio of gorgeous gauges from VDO. A powerful A/C system, eyeball vents, and an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit are fitted into the center of the dah, and it's so neatly integrated that you'll have a hard time believing that Ford wasn't building them this way in 1937. A late-model GM steering wheel lives atop a tilt column and aside from some light stains on the custom floor mats, it looks quite fresh. Under that slanting deck lid, you'll find a surprisingly spacious trunk that's fully upholstered and includes a space-saver spare with its own custom cover. The engine is a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8, so you know it's powerful and reliable out on the road. Fully dressed with lots of chrome, this will be part of the reason for the crowd forming around this car. A Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor atop an aluminum intake manifold is a time-tested combination, and the dual exhaust system was built as much for sound as for performance, because this car sounds amazing. The front suspension is a Mustang II type setup with disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering, while out back there's an 8-inch axle hanging on leaf springs. The quality of the workmanship is evident everywhere you look, and the fact that it's been driven and enjoyed means that it's all sorted out and ready to enjoy. Shiny billet aluminum wheels are a classic look and they're wrapped in sensibly-sized 215/75/15 rubber, so it rides well and doesn't rub on sharp turns, which is always important if you're actually going to drive your rod. Expertly engineered and nicely finished, this is the car you've been dreaming about driving this summer. With just over 3000 miles on the build, this 1934 Ford 3-window coupe is all about getting attention, but it's also the rare rod that's got the horsepower and engineering behind it to be insanely fast and completely safe. Finished in 2009, this spectacular Ford combines a vintage hi-boy look with some modern tech to make one of the most radical yet civilized rods we've experienced. The fiberglass body was completely worked over to make it stand out and then every inch was covered in brilliant custom Tangelo Pearl paint that seems to glow like it's radioactive. Traditional-looking flames lick across the doors and towards the back of the car and everything has been shaved: door handles, hinges, cowl lights, everything. There might be some confusion when folks first see this one, because there's a '32 grille shell up front, flanked by a pair of big commercial-style headlights, but you can't argue with the look. The chopped roof and aggressive rake make this one look fast just sitting still, and the detailing makes it stand out once it's parked. Note the simple taillights out back, the flush-mounted rear deck, and the beautiful panel alignment. This is a really nice rod. The interior is upscale with cinnamon leather, tan accents, and a few whimsical touches. The buckets are comfortable for long cruises and there's plenty of legroom in the sleek coupe. The purple-rimmed steering wheel has an old-school look and adds a flash of contrast that actually works rather well, and there's a full set of Auto Meter dials arrayed across the dash. Most of the secondary controls are in an overhead console and it's all race-grade hardware, including the nitrous setup that is to be used at your own risk, because this sucker's already bloody fast. The door panels are beautifully sculpted and accented with billet hardware. Comfort upgrades include ice cold A/C, power windows, and remote door openers with hidden back-ups that we'll refrain from mentioning here for obvious reasons. The trunk is neatly upholstered with matching tan carpets and that's one heck of a big, blue bottle! The engine is a 1974 vintage 400 cubic inch small block V8 that was built for combat. It's bored .060 oversize and filled with a Scat superlight forged crank, H-beam rods, and flat-top pistons, so the bottom end is plenty stout. There's a Comp Cams solid-lifter camshaft, so it definitely has that hot rod sound and there are dual Demon 4-barrel carburetors up top on a tunnel ram intake manifold. It's street friendly with a 10.83:1 compression ratio, although those gorgeous Sanderson headers make one heck of a spectacular soundtrack. The transmission is a reverse manual TH350 3-speed automatic with a trans brake, which maybe you'll need if you use the 150 horsepower shot of nitrous. The front suspension is fully chromed and everything under the car was beautifully detailed to match the bodywork. There's a disc brake at all four corners and it sure looks like every component was built to be admired, because it's been painted or plated and shows almost zero signs of use. Out back, a beefy 9-inch Ford rear end with 3.75 gears inside hangs on a custom 4-link suspension with coil-overs and the whole assembly has been reinforced for both performance and looks. Beautiful Billet Specialties wheels are fitted with a traditional-looking big-n-little tire combination, with those rears measuring 15-inches wide! Fully documented with build receipts and maintenance records, this is a high-quality rod you can buy with confidence because the guy who built it, built it for himself. That's always the best kind of car to buy. Keep everything that's great about a 1967 Mustang fastback, and subtly upgrade it in ways that improve performance and comfort without diluting its essential "Mustang-ness." A slam-dunk in every possible way, this pony is ready to play! From the GTA grille to the bright white rocker panel stripes, this fastback screams performance. And if you're going to drive a big flashing advertisement for speed like this, you'd better be sure it's right because all eyes will be on you. As a result, the bodywork is nicely done and the vivid electric blue paint jumps out at you right away. Just sight down one of those quarter panels and you'll see crisp reflections staring back at you. The doors line up just so, and the hood fits right. The only possible demerits are the use of some original trim and maybe a few chips that only prove this Mustang was built to drive. The paint is called Super Sonic Blue, and it glows like it's radioactive or something, especially when the sun's going down and the light's hitting it just right. There are proper GTA badges on the rockers, but even without them, there's no question what this car is, which probably speaks loudly of its status as an icon. The interior is pretty stock, and when the design is right, is there any reason to add a bunch of upgrades? The bucket seats wear correct pleated seat covers that are in good condition and the center console with the automatic transmission's T-handle shifter is a critical part of the GTA's street cred. A handsome wood-rimmed Grant steering wheel looks a lot like a Shelby piece, and it frames the original gauges, which are joined by a pair of Auto Meter dials for oil pressure and temperature. An updated stereo head unit lives in the original AM radio's slot in the dash, just above the cool "garage door" storage compartment that was a cool feature on the '67s. The back seat shows a little ear and some fading, which is probably inevitable given the fastback's big rear window, but you can't beat the practicality of a fold-down rear seat. In addition, the trunk is ready for your gear and offers what appears to be a recent gas tank. The engine is a torquey 390 cubic inch V8 that was the top engine in 1967. Upgrades include an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor, trick open-element air cleaner, and a set of beautiful ceramic-coated long-tube headers. The engine is covered in Ford Blue paint and works rather well with the blue bodywork. Custom finned aluminum valve covers are a retro touch that looks right at home in this vintage Mustang and a heavy-duty cooling system with dual electric fans manages the BTUs. It's backed by a stout C6 3-speed automatic and a 9-inch rear, so the powertrain's virtually bulletproof. Disc brakes were added up front, along with a new front suspension that includes tubular A-arms and power rack-and-pinion steering. Big block mufflers sound downright wicked with the snarky big block, and it sits on classic Halibrand-style alloys and staggered 245/40/17 front and 275/40/17 rear performance radials. With a cool look, big block power, and great build quality, this is a resto-mod that hits all the right notes. Cars like this gorgeous 1931 deluxe roadster make fantastic hobby cars thanks to their reliability, performance, awesome parts availability, and driving dynamics. If you want a car that's easy to drive and gives you the true flavor of what old cars are about, and will attract a ton of attention while doing so, this Model A is for you. Few Model As are more desirable than the deluxe roadster, particularly one loaded with accessories and upgrades like this one. With a nice restoration, it represents a solid investment in fun that's ready to tour in a surprisingly user-friendly way. Washington Blue always looks best on roadsters, and combined with the black fenders and Straw pinstripe and wheels, it cuts a dashing profile. Sheetmetal is in excellent shape with professional-grade workmanship throughout, and the roadster looks like a far more expensive vehicle when dressed to the 9s like this one. Sure, someone ordered all the accessories, from the headlight visors to a dual sidemounts to the luggage rack, but that's the fun of a Model A: you can pretty much built it to taste. Ford was also a pioneer in the use of stainless steel (or "rustless steel" as they called it then) which means that if it's shiny, it can be polished and will look great practically forever. Inside, it has a correct brown leather interior from Lebaron-Bonney, the long-time experts in Model A upholstery. Correct in just about every way, it's easy to get comfortable behind the wheel. The controls are well-placed and as long as you're not tall enough to play for the Boston Celtics, you'll find yourself feeling at home pretty quickly. It has a correct late 1931 round speedometer set into a correctly pinstriped dash, and the factory hard rubber steering wheel makes the steering light and direct. A carpeted floor mat adds a surprisingly luxurious feel, and the rumble seat can carry two in equal comfort. Even from behind the wheel, the mechanical upgrades aren't immediately apparent, although that stubby shifter for the 5-speed manual transmission does give things away a bit. Overhead, a handsome tan canvas top looks great and folds quickly and easily for instant open-air motoring. The Model A's robust 200 cubic inch inline-four seems modest on paper, but thanks to a great power-to-weight ratio, the torquey little engine moves the roadster with genuine gusto. There are numerous upgrades here, including a 12-volt electrical system with alternator, new wiring, an electronic ignition, and an upgraded water pump, all aimed at making it more comfortable in today's traffic. It's dressed in Ford olive green engine paint and while it shows a few signs of use, that only means it's sorted. The aforementioned 5-speed manual gearbox is part of a kit designed to incorporate a T5 transmission, and the ratios (including overdrive) are just about right for the torquey Model A. Thanks to the overdrive, it's capable of cruising happily at 55 MPH all day, and with hydraulic brakes and an upgraded steering box, it can do so safely. Six painted 16-inch Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels look great wearing BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whites. Beautiful in its own right, this is a great Model A for the novice or experienced hobbyist. If any Model A can be considered a smart buy, this is it. Extremely well finished, work like this is common on cars costing tens of thousands of dollars more, but with this car you get all the performance of a Mustang combined with a unique shape that has aged particularly well. Blending economy, performance, and style, the Falcon really was a do-it-all kind of car. You could outfit it to suit your tastes, and apparently someone want this to be a slick little sleeper that was comfortable for cross-country jaunts. You could paint it some flashy color, but the silvery blue finish on it today is far more interesting, don't you think? The tidy hardtop bodywork was treated to a makeover that gives it the look of a -scale Galaxie and the detailing on the fenders and through the quarter panels is quite good. Gaps and panel alignment are decent and the year-old paint shines up beautifully thanks to modern materials. And this was no stripped-down base model, either, and as a result it's dressed up with plenty of jewelry, ranging from the arrow-shaped side trim to the beautifully sculpted bumper that frames the taillights, to the neat little "bombsight" fender ornaments up front. Nothing was modified or deleted, once again suggesting that someone restored this car because they loved it, not because they were trying to make money from it. Light blue bucket seats give the stylish interior a far more upscale look than you'd expect from Ford's economy car. The pleated seat covers look fresh and flank a correct center console with bright lid, so there's a bit of contrast in the otherwise all-blue interior. Simple door panels recall just a touch of the 1950s with their shiny materials and lots of polished trim. The familiar instrument panel is in decent original condition and there's a modern tach down low on the B&M shifter, as well as a set of auxiliary dials under the dash. The factory-issued AM radio is long gone, replaced by a later AM/FM/cassette head unit, but that's OK because this car was built to cruise. The trunk is nicely detailed as well, and includes a reproduction plaid mat, a vintage spare tire, and the remote-mounted battery. Stuffing a 302 cubic inch V8 in a lightweight car works really well; just ask Carroll Shelby. In this Falcon, it makes for entertaining acceleration around town and it's a lot of fun to play with that flexible torque curve on the street. An open-element air cleaner from Edelbrock adds a racy look, with matching finned valve covers that aren't exactly stock but look pretty darned cool. Ford Blue engine enamel pops against the satin black engine bay, and you can see that a lot of the work is quite fresh and the sucker runs great. Long-tube headers with cut-outs sound awesome, but the newer stock exhaust makes for mellow cruising speeds. A quick-shifting automatic transmission and highway-friendly gears make it mild-mannered on the open road and they've thoughtfully added a set of subframe connectors to reinforce the structure. A slightly lowered stance and chrome wheels with baby moon hubcaps give it just a bit of attitude, and it rides on fat BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. This is a neat little car that shows quite well and runs great. Falcons are seeing some new-found appreciation these days, and I wouldn't expect nice ones like this to remain affordable forever. With a traditional chassis, a Chevy V8, and a look that recalls the long, sleek roadsters of the '30s, it's a rod that's a cut above the usual stuff. That distinctive "turtle deck" styling is 100% Model T roadster, and it is one of the simplest, yet most elegant shapes ever created. It also looks great surrounded with curvaceous fenders and fronted by an extra-long hood that gives the humble Model T a very sleek look. There's virtually no panel on this entire car that hasn't been customized or hand-fabricated to achieve a look, but the Ford DNA is undeniable in the final result. The long 1-piece hood starts at a highly modified '32 Ford grille shell with a stainless insert that gives it a very updated look. The fenders look like late Model T pieces, again modified to work with the longer front end, and with everything swathed in brilliant Lamborghini Orange paint with a ton of pearl in it, there's no denying that there was someone with a very clear mission at work here. Workmanship is impressive, so if you like the look, there's plenty to love about the build: the beautifully molded cowl that seamlessly blends the hood and the bodywork, the V-shaped windshield, and the fabricated rear bumper that looks like the push bars old Bonneville racers used to use. The interior is quite a bit more user-friendly that the usual Model T, with a wide bench seat that's comfortable and has plenty of room for two. Everything is wrapped in black alligator skin and orange leather, including the custom door panels, and it's carpeted to control noise and heat, both of which are critical in a roadster like this. A custom aluminum steering wheel lives on top of a polished tilt column, so it's easy to get comfortable in the driver's seat, and a full complement of white-faced Equus instruments offers a great view of what's going on up front. A mini console was fabricated for the custom shifter, which, in the low-slung roadster, falls easily to hand. In back, the trunk is fully upholstered in black carpet with a matching alligator skin insert on the deck lit itself. There's also a sizeable fuel cell, making this roadster a fantastic cruiser for longer drives. The engine is a rugged and reliable 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 that's been recently rebuilt and neatly dressed for show duty under the long hood of this T. Lots of chrome and polished aluminum glitter when you pop the 3-piece hood, and with a new Edelbrock 4-barrel carb, a Holley intake manifold, and a throaty dual exhaust system, it certainly drives like a hot rod. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission powers a 9-inch Ford rear end, which hangs on ladder bars and coil-overs. A dropped I-beam front suspension, complete with transverse leaf spring, gives it that vintage hot rod feel and there's a disc brake at each front corner. A set of flashy aluminum Torque Thrust wheels offers the traditional "big-n-little" combination with Goodyear radials up front and giant Pro-Trac donuts in back. Not quite a T-bucket, not quite a track T, and not quite a Model A or Deuce roadster, this is a wild combination with the right look and the right parts to simply be a ton of fun. This particular 1923 Ford T-bucket nails the look and the feel, combining the classic truncated Model T pickup body with a smooth-running Chevy V8 powerplant up front. If you're doing a T-bucket, you need to go full retro with it. That means wild paint, plenty of pinstripes, and a top that looks like it was penned by the Ratfink himself. All the T-buckets are fiberglass these days, and this is no exception, and it absolutely nails that modified Model T look. Finish quality is quite nice, and you really can't tell it's fantastic plastic until you knock your knuckles on it, and it captures all the detailing that the Model T offered, from the framed "tailgate" to the outline of a door on each side of the cab (there are no doors, of course). The bright yellow paint is perhaps the most striking element of the entire car, but the accents in basic black, including pinstripes and Ford script on the tail give it that vintage hot rod look T-buckets are famous for. 1950 Pontiac taillights, a brass Model T radiator shell, and King Bee headlights are all traditional pieces of the formula, but each car still seems to look different from the others, including this one. It's a driver, but you can tell it's been loved. The interior is simple, but you'll probably appreciate the gray cloth upholstery when you're out for a cruise, because A/C is not available in a T-bucket. Strictly a 2-seater, the bench is neatly finished with diamond-tufted upholstery and yellow piping to tie it all together. The upright steering column that is part of the T-bucket formula is topped by a wood-rimmed wheel, and bright white-faced Auto Meter gauges are spread across the dash. That tall black canvas convertible top is removable, creating the open-air T-bucket look, and the shrunken "bed" out back houses the gas tank. There's no radio, no heater, and, well, nothing but engine and the barest of minimums to operate it, and that's entirely the point. The engine is a chromed 350 cubic inch Chevy small block that's as much as styling element as powerplant. Dominated by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and those outrageous headers and side pipes, the look is instantly identifiable and the sucker runs extremely well. Fully sorted, it starts easily, idles well, and is happy to trundle through traffic without overheating thanks to a beefy radiator stuffed into that cut-down radiator shell. It's backed by a PowerGlide 2-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear, which hangs from a 4-link setup. Up front, the traditional dropped axle on hairpins is one of the coolest features, since you can watch it working from the driver's seat. There are also front disc brakes grafted onto the tubular front axle, so it has impressive stopping power. And while many T-buckets push the limits of tire, this one wears reasonably-sized 215/70/14 front and 225/70/15 whitewall radials on custom chrome wire wheels. Is the T-bucket back? Given how easily they sell, there's clearly a large group of guys out there who still think they're cool. Now just because it has four doors, don't go thinking this is some ho-hum car. No, this is a beautifully crafted rod that can cruise cross-country in comfort while offering a classic old-school rod look big enough for the whole family. Basic black always works best on a vintage Ford, Model T or otherwise. The handsome 1936 models were an evolution of the '35s, with that iconic wrap-around grille highlighting the list of features. Smoothly flowing fenders that encapsulated the wheels and gently rounded bodywork make it beautiful, while a trunk on the back makes it practical. Finish quality is quite good, with four doors that close easily and good gaps all around. The black paint is deep and rich with minor signs of age and use, which are pretty much impossible to avoid on a black car that gets driven. The red grille is a traditional hot-rodding look that works well regardless of how many doors are on the car, but that and the shaved hood ornament seem to be the only notable modifications. Oh, and putting a spare tire out back gives it that old-fashioned look and adds valuable storage space in the trunk. The tan cloth interior stays pretty faithful to its 1930s origins, with vertical pleats and matching door panels that look pretty much the way they did in 1936. The instrument panel has been replaced by a lovely aluminum piece full of fresh Auto Meter gauges that are quite similar to the original dials, and the rest of the dash is pretty stock. Woodgrain on the dash and window moldings is how they did it when the car was new and it adds a touch of elegance to the simple interior. A tilt column with a wonderful banjo-style steering wheel keeps things authentic and the AM/FM/CD stereo, sub-woofer and amplifier have been cleverly hidden in the trunk and are accessed by remote control. There's a surprising amount of legroom in back and with seatbelts all around, this is a rod that's comfortable and safe for everyone. The 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 under the hood does a pretty good flathead impersonation, offering finned valve covers, a chrome alternator mounted up high in the V of the engine, and a bell-shaped air cleaner, all of which recall the original Ford design. However, you're going to appreciate the extra horsepower on tap thanks to a 4-barrel carburetor and an HEI ignition system that ensures it lights off quickly and easily. There's a big radiator up front that keeps it cool easily, and the white firewall is another nod to tradition that this car gets effortlessly right. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission spins highway-friendly 2.73 gears in a 10-bolt housing, so there's nothing radical underneath, but that also means it's reliable and comfortable. A custom front suspension with A-arms, coil-overs, and rack-and-pinion steering makes it feel quite modern and disc brakes were added for safety. The exhaust is a great-sounding dual setup that hugs the frame for great ground clearance and you have to admit that it sits exactly right on those red steelies and wide whitewall radials. Built to cruise, this is a reliable, well-sorted, easy-to-handle Ford that gets everything right. If you like your hot rods traditional with a bit of practicality on the side, this '36 is a fantastic choice. With components built by NASCAR legends like Ernie Elliot, it's not only beautiful to look at, but brings the horsepower where it really matters. The brilliant red paint is the first thing you notice, but the level of detail on this '37 Ford is what really keeps your attention. The body is Gibbons fiberglass and it has a traditional look that makes it instantly identifiable. The grille is the original style, not one of the modern interpretations of a '37, and for that reason alone this one should stand out. There's a ton of time invested in the paint and bodywork, with smooth, glossy surfaces that reflect clearly, all indicative of tons of hand labor. Details like the headlights with their teardrop-shaped lenses are correct Ford pieces, while '39 Ford teardrop taillights give it a familiar look out back. The pinstripes are artfully done to emphasize the '37 Ford's curvy quarters and we love the way the simple chrome bumpers look old-fashioned. Shaved door handles, a smooth trunk, and a minimum of add-ons give it a clean, uncluttered look that is as timeless as the '37 Ford itself. The beautifully stitched custom interior uses a unique bench seat up front to make it look cool but remain all-day comfortable. A center arm rest is just a good idea, and the door panels were sculpted to match and offer a sweeping bit of leather just for contrast. Both seat backs tilt forward for access to the rear seat, which is specious enough for full-sized adults. The hallmark of a professional built rod is the switchgear, and you'll note that the door handles, window switches, and other extraneous hardware have been cleverly hidden out of sight, giving the interior a clean, minimalist look. A full array of Dakota Digital gauges across the center of the instrument panel give it a clean, futuristic look and the tilt column with a matching tan leather steering wheel means this car is comfortable enough to drive daily. The entertainment system has been stashed under the dash where it's mostly out of sight and the A/C vents are discreetly built into the outboard edges of the dash. The top is a removable Carson-style hardtop that seals up rather well and the trunk is fully upholstered to match the interior. The engine is a 351 cubic inch V8 built by noted engine builder Ernie Elliot, and with that kind of pedigree, you'd better believe it's a runner. There's an upgraded cam inside, a 4-barrel carburetor up top, and an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold to keep it fed. Most of the under-hood components were painted to match the bodywork, including the alternator and A/C compressor, so it has a dressed-up look that works well with the rest of the bare aluminum components. Custom headers lead to a fabricated exhaust system that tucks up into the frame and sounds spectacular. Every single component underneath, including the suspension, AOD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and 9-inch rear end, has been painted to match as well, and the preservation is very impressive. A Mustang II front suspension and 4-wheel disc brakes make this Ford feel quite modern and it has an awesome hot rod look with Billet Specialties wheels and staggered 195/60/15 front and 235/75/15 rear Hankook radials. Beautifully built, there's no aspect of this rod that hasn't been buffed, smoothed, or hand-made. With a great history behind it, this is an awesome cabriolet that stands head and shoulders above the rest.
