UPDATE-- NEW PICTURES First off, let me say this car is unfortunately VERY rusty but complete. Secondly, it is a Plum Crazy Purple, white interior, white top, white stripe 1971 Challenger convertible with the incredibly rare factory N96 "Shaker Hood" option!! It does retain it's original, born with 383 Magnum engine & 727 transmission, window sticker, fender tag (rusty), dash vin tag, cowl number, radiator support number & drivers door vin decal. The Challenger came new with bucket seats, console, power steering, power brakes, tinted windshield, AM radio, rally wheels & manual top, In the description, see the picture the original owner took when the car was 3 months old. If you've read this far, you probably know how rare this car is? Some say it's 1 of 11 Shaker hood 71 challenger convertibles built but it may be as high as about 20 built with the N96. The inner front fenderwells are VERY rusty as are the front rails & floors. The back end isn't as rusty but will need some rail work. Thankfully, the original hood, air cleaner, seats & rear interior panels were stored in a basement & are in good condition. The shaker is complete except for the hot & cold air doors. Just to clarify.....the window sticker is an old photocopy of the original sticker. It is not from a reproduction. F.Y.I. Not included in this auction but available is a 1971 challenger convertible shell that is very clean & virtually rust free. Feel free to call & discuss details anytime. I've had some good offers on the extra shell but, I don't want to let it go until the shaker car is gone. Original red on red color, mostly nos parts, complete restoration and only 43,500 original miles. Every part of this car has been touched and sits in mint condition. Very tough to find a car like this, and very few red on red cars produced. This car is a stunner, you won’t believe how many people will stop and complement the car and the condition. This is a 380hp 360 crate engine bought from Mopar, with only a few hundred miles on this engine. New engines from Mopar would cost upwards of 10k today. Tranny is a rebuilt 727 auto with a slapstick shift lever. Also only a few hundred miles, rear end is 355 possi, new, with only a few miles as well. Added to this already stunning car is 4 wheel Willwood disc brakes, and custom Boyd Coddington rims. The stance of this car sits perfectly, pictures do not do justice. 1970 DODGE CHALLENGER CONVERTIBLE 340-6 PACK R/T TRIBUTE Rotisserie Restoration Completed in 2008 By Previous Owner 76,935 Challengers where built in 1970 and only 3,884 of that where convertibles 963 R/t convertibles and only 12 hemi convertibles. Back in the 30’s Chrysler had a parts division for servicing Chrysler products which was named Chrysler Motor Parts. As the years went on the name was shortened to Chrysler MO PAR. By the 1960’s there was only one word that encompassed all 3 brands of Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge……that word was MOPAR. And for the people loyal to the brand it became, “MOPAR or NO CAR.” There are NO EXCUSES for the 1970 Dodge Challenger. A design that has been iconic not only in 1970, but even in today's Challengers. With the right ingrediants these cars had risen to almost a half million dollar price tag or even higher. For that reason only, thats why tribute cars have become more and more desirable. What makes this a very rare tribute car is the low production numbers of only 3884 in the E-Body convertible. If this was a true RT Convertible, production numbers were less then 1000. Some of these cars are inestimatable. Please study the many pictures provided of both the car in its current state and during its restoration. The car is truly amazing!!!! EXTERIOR: This 1970 E-Body Dodge Challenger RT Convertible Tribute is dressed in Banana yellow with a real steel shaker hood and the ever so popular "Go Wing" with a flip top gas door access. A full rotisserie restoration was started in 2006 and completed in 2008. The paint was cleared, color sanded and cleared again. The underneath also received a full media blasting and was painted the same color as the body. All floors, rails and subframes are solid. The body is straight and the engine compartment is also painted the same color as the car. There is no fender tag. The car was also built as a driver and has been driven and maintained since restoration. There is a slight chip repair on the trunk that I wanted to mention. Nothing serious but it has been touched up since the chip happened. The top has also been replaced at the time of restoration and is still like new. The brightwork shines excellent and all the glass is clear and intact. The factory wheels have been replaced with Weld Wheels. The trunk is solid and complete, has no spare tire. Please view the pictures and let me know of any questions you may have. INTERIOR: As you can see from the pictures the interior presents very well. Some components have been replaced as other are original because of the one model year production(no reproduction parts). The interior received new legendary seat covers and door panels, new carpet, dash pad. Dash component's are original and some detailing to those components will really make the interior pop and really stand out at local shows and events. The radio does not work, however all gauges and lights work as they should. In summation, the interior presents very well. Some minor tinkering is needed for pure show quality. Please view the pictures and let me know of any questions you may have. DRIVE-TRAIN: The original 318 set up has been removed and a 340 Block with 6 pack (3x2bbl) carburetor set up was installed. The engine was built with a mild cam set up. It also comes with power steering and power brakes. The automatic 727 transmission was also built with a mild shift kit and it is lined up with an 8 3/4 sure grip rear. All belts and hoses are road worthy and ready for show or go. The tires and brakes are ready to go. The 340 pulls hard and runs right and the shifts are crisp. The drive train has been detailed and is ready for show or go. 70 Challenger Convertible for sale 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible JH27L0xxxxxx 383-Auto P/S, P/B, A/C, P/Top. Engine and trans are numbers matching!!!! 8 3/4 rear end with a 3:23 posi. This is a very exceptionable driver with original floor pans and trunk floor. Convertible E-Bodies are getting harder to find and the prices have been skyrocketing. It is one of only 333 Challenger convertibles made with a 383 in 1970. This car was restored back in 2003 and had the R/T emblems added then. The engine and trans were rebuilt at that time and a mild cam and 600 Edelbrock carb installed. Not a perfect show car, but its also not $60-100K either. I have drove and enjoyed this car for a couple of summers and wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere. Has 15x7 Rally wheels and BF Goodrich T/A Radials. Factory AM/8-Track player with a FM converter added under the dash. Top is in excellent condition and has a glass rear window.
