1988 Corvette C4 5.7L V8 L98 Tuned Port Injection, Automatic, Z52 Handling Package, Removable Hard Top, 98,929 Miles, Clear Title in hand, Current Registration and Tags until August 2016, Ready to Roll! VIN # 1G1YY2184J5115838 For Sale is my baby, my 88 Corvette. I've always been a C4 enthusiast and absolutely love this car. Unfortunately I must part ways with it due to other financial responsibilities. My loss is truly your gain! I'm going to try and describe everything about this Vette, including the Great, the good, the bad, etc. I have been a proud owner of this White beauty. This is an extremely good handling car, a true sports car and it's a ton of fun to drive. This car drives nice and straight, feels light and tight, with precise quick steering (Z52 sport handling package from the factory), and you feel like you're in a fighter jet when you're sitting low in it. It's very comfortable, snug, and cruising around town or down the highway is a blast. The original L98 5.7L V8 engine has aluminum heads from the factory. GM hopped up this Tuned Port Injection engine for 1988 and pumps out 245 horsepower, 340 ft. lbs. of torque, and has 9.5:1 Compression Ratio. This car has loads of Torque and Quick! The drivetrain is original, unmolested, and Runs Great. The Head Gaskets were replaced on this engine about 4 years ago by the Chevrolet Dealership (Martin Chevrolet in Torrance, CA). Lots of power, this Vette gets up and moves both off the line and on the Highway. Trans shifts smooth with just the right amount of firmness. No problems to report whatsoever. NEW Fuel Pump and fuel sending unit were installed in October 2015, as well as Brand New Brake Pads and New Rotors all the way around. Full tuneup was done about a year ago including New Delco Cap & Rotor, Plugs, and Wires. I replaced the Alternator myself with a brand new Alternator last year, as well as a New Optima red top battery for maximum cold cranking power. This Vette starts right up with no issues. (No VATS problems at all - which happen to some of these C4 Vettes). Older but still in good shape KYB shocks. All exterior lights work including signals, emergency flashers, tail lights, brake lights, side marker lights, headlights, parking lights, and the foglights. Tires still have lots of life left in them, they are Kumho Z rated 275/40/ZR-17 directional high performance tires sitting on the factory 17' Rims. I've included a photo of the factory RPO code (build codes/options) sticker that came with the car and is located in the center console lid. The only main mechanical repair that is needed as of right now is the Driver's Side Flip Up Headlight. It opens half way and stops. It's a simple fix by someone mechanically inclined or by a mechanic/garage. I believe the gears and bushings need to be replaced. You can manually close the headlight completely. The passenger Headlight opens and closes perfectly. I've maintained this car the right way since i've owned it with regular oil changes, and all fluids have been flushed and changed since i acquired the car years ago. I always feed her 91 Octane (Premium gas here in Southern California), and make sure to keep the air filter, MAF sensor, and Throttle Body cleaned out and working smoothly on a regular basis. The only Modifications done to this Vette other than stock include: A Cutout in front of the Air Filter Box (for more air flow efficiency and power), a brand new K&N panel air filter, Airfoil in the Throttle Body to reduce air turbulence and increase air flow, Dynomax high flow mufflers with Chrome Tips, and a Hypertech Street Runner Chip in the factory prom/computer to increase power. All modifications are street and smog legal and help this car perform better than stock. This Vette passed the strict STAR Certified California SMOG Test with flying colors in October, 2015. Drives anywhere and everywhere you want to go. I've taken her on trips up north to San Francisco, and down south to San Diego. She never overheats, runs strong all day long, and has never left me stranded. Very reliable. Now the interior, the interior carpet and door panels were originally Blue from the factory. A previous owner before me covered the blue carpet with gray carpet throughout the interior, and painted the blue door panels black. So the interior is now Black and Gray. The interior needs minor cosmetics including the center console armrest replaced (it's there and opens and closes, but is cracked), the leather wrapped steering wheel is showing its age with cracks, the gray carpet on the drivers side is loose and needs to be glued back down and tucked in, and the LCD display/gauges are a bit on the dimmer side and could use a refurbishment or new backlight bulbs installed. However, the LCD display is fully functional and the only gauge that does not read properly is the Oil Pressure PSI gauge (could be the sensor or gauge itself). Every other LCD gauge works perfectly. The drivers information toggle switches work perfectly, the information center displays properly, the cabin interior lights work, the power mirrors work perfectly, as well as the power windows and power door locks, no issues at all. The aftermarket am/fm CD player works perfectly and sounds great through the Factory original Bose speakers/sound system. And the auto Antenna goes up and retracts flawlessly. Windshield wipers work, as well as the Defroster, Heater (Very Hot), and Ice cold Air Conditioning! The Auto Climate Control works great. The exterior/paint: Nice glossy white paint with the exception of minor blemishes, small scuffs and scratches here and there. Some bubbling under the paint in one spot only, on the Fuel door where the Corvette C4 emblem sits. It's isolated to just that part of the fuel door. This Vette looks great and i have always waxed and polished this white paint. The front and rear clips are starting to fade to a slightly different shade of white that you can see in the photos. It is common with these C4s. Also some fading white paint on the spoiler. And there are some small cracks under the rear spoiler where it mounts to the top of the rear clip. It's not noticeable unless you get up close under the spoiler. Overall i'd say the body and White paint are in good shape. This Vette is always garaged and safe from the elements. Well i think that about covers it all. I have taken the repairs/things it needs into consideration and have lowered the price to what i believe is very fair, esp in this current C4 Vette Market. There may be some minor things i forgot to add, which if i remember i will go ahead and edit the description and add any tidbits of info i left out. I have invested well over $13k into this C4 to make it the reliable, good Vette it is today. This is a great Corvette for all walks of life... Corvette enthusiasts, first time Corvette owners, C4 lovers, and Sports Car fans. It's a reliable, good looking, fun, fast, well taken care of example of a classic Vette that will just continue to climb in value every year. Whether you want a daily driver, or weekend warrior, this C4 is a collectible car that not only turns heads, but also turns on a Dime... Get ready for looks and compliments. It's time to let her go to another good home and owner. Also included is a cool C4 chrome keychain, Corvette C4 diecast models/replicas of different scales, a Corvette C4 Haynes manual (if i can find it), and original factory 1988 Corvette sales brochure (if i can find it). I have other C4 stuff (C4 related photos, magazines, records, receipts, etc.) lying around here someplace that i will include if i can find it! Receipts/Records on hand for some of the work/repairs that were done. Clear Title in hand, Current Registration in hand (AUG 2016 tags), and most recent Smog Certificate (from October 2015). Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, and i'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. I can also take specific photos on request. This beautiful, always garaged Vette is located here in Riverside, California. Full payment will only be accepted in CASH, in person. No Cashiers Checks or Money Orders. Buyer is responsible for pick up and shipping arrangements of this Vehicle. This vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied.
