During the restoration, the car was stripped down to bare metal as was the frame. The body received a two tone, two stage refinish from top to bottom and the undercarriage was repainted in semi gloss black. The chrome was all replaced, and the stainless was all refurbished. The windows have a very light tint to keep out the sun. The interior features leather panels and a custom leather seat and pile carpeting. The factory instruments have been replaced with a custom Dakota Digital unit which provides accurate and detailed ratings. The windows have all been converted to power as have the locks, which can be controlled via one of two key fobs. Maintaining comfortable temperatures in the cabin is a Vintage Air setup that integrates into the factory climate control levers. Providing additional adjustments within the cabin is a till column that has been painted to match the body of the car. The factory stereo is long gone and in its place sits a RetroSound Radio which plays through panels located inside the doors and rear package tray. The billet shifter from Lokar looks the parts and performs great. Under the hood, the Chevy sports a Chevy 350 equipped with the tried and true Street and Performance TPI fuel injection setup. The unit is polished and looks sharp sitting on that classic American power plant. The system performs reliably in all conditions and a front mounted radiator with dual electric fans keep engine temps at bay so you can focus on the ride. Driving the accessories is a billet serpentine kit, which provides for quiet, reliable operation of the peripherals while cleaning up the engine compartment at the same time. The exhaust system is a 2" dual all the way back that is fed through a set of coated long tube headers. The tank is a custom stainless unit the looks great and is not subject to corrosion as the factory tanks were. The transmission is a Turbo 350 and the rear end is a Ford 9" with 3.55 gears. The car cruises out wonderfully on the highway and is reliable enough for daily driving. The car rides on Colorado Custom Billet wheels with 235/45/17 tires in the front and 355/50/17 wheels in the rear. The tires are of course all radials, which give such an improved ride over the stock bias plys. The entire suspension was rebuilt during the restoration and the brakes have been upgraded to a power 4-wheel disc setup. Power steering and an upgraded box make the car very easy to maneuver and a set of Cal Trac bars in the rear provide for a clean, wheel hop free hole shot. Overall is a great riding car with nice stance that does not compromise ride quality. The red paint glistens from top to bottom and the undercarriage looks as clean as the top of the car. The car is responsive and quick thanks to a killer fuel injection system the power steering and brakes make maneuverability a cinch. The restoration on this awesome '57, began when the car was stripped down to a bare frame and body and then media blasted to remove all of the original coatings. The frame was redone in gloss black and the body was finished in GM Torch Red base/clear paint job. The paint was then wet sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. The original stainless has been polished out and all of the chrome is new from front to rear. The car has a stance that is to die for. Making it all happen are a set of 2" dropped spindles and lowering springs up front, 3" lowering blocks in the rear and 18" and 20" Coys wheels. The wheels are wrapped in modern performance tires that provide excellent handling without the slop of bias ply tires. A large swaybar cuts down on body roll, tubular control arms stiffen things up, and power disc brake kit from CPP puts the brakes on extra quick. Speaking of the brakes, the billet master cylinder is a standout in the engine compartment as is the chrome power booster. Another contributing factor to the smooth driving nature of this Chevrolet is the CPP power steering system. CPP uses a modern quick ratio box to create an easy steering package that is also very responsive in nature. The engine sits in a beautifully finished and very nicely organized compartment featuring a Chevy 350 crate engine equipped with the FAST EZ EFI system. The motor is extremely responsive, never cold-natured and everything you expect from a modern fuel injection system. The system uses a throttle body type set up which keeps that old-school look. An MSD ignition system provides a large and reliable spark and a Vintage Air front runner system drives the engine accessories. Exhaust flows through a set of ceramic coated headers and a Magnaflow exhaust system producing an excellent exhaust note. The transmission is a modern 5-Speed Tremec unit which is a blast to row through the gears. The car uses a very streetable performance clutch and the rear end is Ford 9" with 3.73 traction lok gears. The interior is a mild custom job with all new soft parts and refinished or new hard parts. A modern radio plays the tunes and there is a Vintage AC system to keep you cool in the summer weather complete with all new heating components for cooler temps. The original gauges were preserved with the addition of a few modern ones so you can keep track of your vitals.
