Eventually, the Bonneville, an ostentatious line-topper that epitomized the division's newfound style and performance, became one of the hottest names in the automotive landscape. And when you take one look at a classic like this incredible convertible, it's not hard to understand why. The car's retractable roof optimizes glitzy Main Street jaunts. Its powerful Tempest 425 V8 is tame enough to cruise on the highway, yet strong enough to own the stoplight. And its rich black, silver and gray color combination is one of the best schemes to ever adorn old school Detroit metal. If you're in the market for a tailored classic that wraps exoteric style in limitless appeal, welcome to "The Boldest Advance in Fifty Years!" BODYWORK/TRIM Much more impressive than when it originally rolled down GM's storied Wilmington assembly line, this well-done Poncho has been transformed into a take-no-prisoners weekender that consistently headlines cruise nights. Its solid, '58-exclusive body is covered in correct and very fitting Persian Black 2-stage. There are no obvious signs of wholesale panel replacement, suggesting this has been a straight, rust-free shell its entire life. Not surprisingly, the car's clean fit and finish is almost good enough to turn reflections into reality. And ultimately, it all adds up to one super cool cruiser that, thanks to its spectacular combination of color and trim, has an absolutely magnetic presence! Speaking of trim, Pontiac's first generation Bonneville certainly did its fair share to promote the sale of sunglasses. And, as with its sculpted body, all of this drop-top's ornate jewelry has, at one point, been restored to excellent condition. At the front of the car, a deep chrome bumper seats correct Star Chief parking lamps at the base of a correct die-cast chrome grille. Above that grille, mirrored hood trim frames a canted "B O N N E V I L L E" script and intricate T3 headlights. At the sides of those lights, rocket-themed profile spears dissect polished rocker plates, guarded door handles, small wheel skirts and correct fender-mount mirrors. At the edges of those spears, classy "Bonneville" scripts and red, white and blue Tri-power emblems perfectly complement aeronautical fender toppers and Bonneville-exclusive louvers. At the top of the car, polished frames seal factory-tint glass under a pliable white top. That top flows into a massive, Silver Streak-esque decklid, which hangs a second "B O N N E V I L L E" script between simple trim, rocket-inspired taillights and a small, power operated antenna. And those taillights reflect a familiar continental kit, which is propped on a correct faux sport bumper and subtle, polished exhaust tips. ENGINE When Bunkie Knudson began Pontiac's revival, circa 1956, he started building a performance powerhouse. By the time the division's 1960 models rolled down the line, it was literally dominating NASCAR, NHRA and Pike's Peak. That stellar showing was no doubt thanks to engines like this Bonneville's retrofitted Tempest 425 V8. At the top of the spry mill, wind whips through a black, single-snorkel air cleaner in to a trio of familiar Rochester carburetors, which cap a traditional iron intake. At the sides of that intake, stamped steel valve covers split the difference between factory exhaust manifolds and 7mm Hi-Temp Radio Suppression Cables. At the ends of those cables, an old school points distributor aligns with factory wiper components and a correct master cylinder. A correct radiator utilizes pliable hoses, simple squeeze clamps and a correct shroud to provide ample cooling. A reproduction Delco battery jolts a tagged Delco-Remy generator. And overall, this Poncho's glossy engine compartment is fully sorted and ready to roll! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The beneficiary of a high quality, frame-up restoration, this clean full-size is certainly no stranger to good times and weekend road trips. The car's solid floorpans are coated in thick black paint, which, complete with factory drips, perfectly complements a sturdy Aero Frame X-frame. A proven Strato-Flight Hydra-Matic 4-speed spins a correct GM axle that literally sails the engine through its broad power band. Under that capable drivetrain, a factory-spec suspension is equipped with factory power steering. Power-assisted drum brakes provide adequate stopping prowess. At the center of the floors, a correct exhaust system utilizes correct turbo mufflers to weave an aggressive, full throttle rumble into a subdued and classy idle. And, at the corners of the suspension, great looking 8.50-14 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls frame stylish Pontiac wheel covers. INTERIOR In the '50s, GM was the king of design. Period. And this Bonneville's correct Gray and Silver interior is one of the most beautiful cockpits ever mounted behind a motor. Broad and fastidiously crafted, the car's rare hardback bucket seats feature standard leather hides. There's a stylish dash that's based in gray, trimmed in brushed aluminum and equipped with chrome-rimmed gauges, a deluxe radio and a correct factory clock. Note the car's spectacular door panels, which carry their combination of chrome, aluminum and two-tone vinyl to a body-matched convertible cowl. Below the seats, heavy-duty floor mats protect chrome-flecked carpet. The centerpiece of this tailored environment is an expertly restored steering wheel, which is cinched between a polished shifter, a bright horn ring and a classy Pontiac emblem. And behind the cockpit, a positively massive trunk sandwiches a second spare tire between a small light and a thick mat. 1958 Pontiac Star Chief station wagon, 370 v9, auto, ps, pb.It is a solid Western US car and it is complete to the best of our knowledge. It does need a complete restoration or turn it into a customized car. Your choice if you buy it. I have had it for a number of years with the hopes of finally getting around to restoring it and adding it to our collection, but there are still a number of cars that we are restoring ahead of it and I don't see it happening for years. The car is all there from what I can see and if you don't see something outside the car it is probably stored inside the car. It needs a complete restoration, so obviously that includes mechanical components and the interior. As with any car auction the reserve is private so any and all emails asking what it is will just be deleted. It is a 56 year old used car sold as is / where is, with no warranties. Some basic answers to some basic questions : Car is stored in FL presently and any and all parts you do not see on the outside of the car are stored inside the car. YES the floors are solid and NO there are no holes anywhere on the car that I have found. The car spent it's life in the rust free and salt free Western US. Since it is not a newly restored car you can assume that there is some form of rust somewhere just like you would find on any 56 year old car. YES the frame is solid - see above. Car was from out west where they do not use salt on the roads, then it was parked and sat not driven for over 40 years. Any rust you see on the paint is just surface flashing from the original sunbaked paint/ primer fading away. The car has been off the road for 40 years, so no, you can't drive it home. No, I haven't tried to start it or drive it. YES I have the title for it. The car needs a COMPLETE restoration however since it is rare, it is well worth the cost.

For Pontiac guys, the 1958 Bonneville is a pretty big deal. Add in Tri-Power, a stunning color combination, and the fact that only 9144 Bonneville hardtops like this were built, and you have an incredible collectable that always blows the crowd away at shows. Finished in its original Patina Ivory, this awesome Bonneville is the spitting image of the Indianapolis pace car, particularly with the bright red spear running down its side. Restored several years ago, it still looks imposing, thanks to the one-year-only design that made all GM cars look expensive and very upscale. Paint and bodywork are impressive, with laser-straight flanks that clearly show a ton of labor went into the restoration, and with a known history and just three owners, there\'s no question that it was a well-maintained car all its life. And as with any car of the 1950s, never mind Pontiac\'s top-of-the-line model, it\'s literally drenched in chrome, with incredible details on the cast grille and beautifully polished stainless trim along its flanks. And unlike, say, the Buick or Oldsmobile models, the big Bonneville wears it well without looking like an afterthought. This is a really impressive car. The interior is no less dramatic, with contrasting red and white upholstery with a very 1950s glow. The seats show only minimal wear that amounts to some minor stretching in the driver\'s seat area, and the door panels are simply works of art all by themselves. The dash and instrument panel are as ornate as the exterior trim, with textured stainless steel surfaces framing the round gauges and secondary controls. An original AM radio remains in place, complete with rear speaker, and the gauges themselves show crisp markings and wonderfully ornate needles. And dig the sparkling carpets, which are pure 1950s kitsch. The steering wheel is color-matched to the rest of the car and reinforces the 1950\'s fascination with jet propulsion and the shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission is the most delicately sculpted piece of machinery we\'ve seen. The trunk is, of course, absolutely massive and comes complete with a full-sized spare, correct mat, and a set of manuals. All Pontiacs used the 370 cubic inch V8 introduced the year before, but the one you really wanted was the Tri-Power, which includes a trio of Rochester 2-barrel carbs. Rated at 300 horsepower, it was far less finicky than the fuel injected models and was more than $400 cheaper, too. Nicely detailed, including the rather rare original air cleaner, the engine bay offers a lot of satin black offset by Pontiac Turquoise on the engine block and some properly plated detail pieces. Dual exhaust gives the muscular V8 the right soundtrack to attract a younger set of buyers (this was Pontiac\'s first foray into the youth market) and the undercarriage is tidy and neat with just the right amount of undercoating to protect everything without hiding the details. Coil springs in back were new for the Bonneville, too, so this big coupe rides and handles surprisingly well, particularly with a recent set of tubular shocks. Nice-looking wide whitewall radials fitted to bright red wheels with spinner hubcaps give it the right vibe and really improve performance in a big way. Fast, rare, and highly desirable, this Bonneville hardtop is the car you\'ve been seeking for years. Don\'t let another one slip by, put this awesome cruiser in your garage today. Call now! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom. For more information, please call (817) 764-8000 or toll free (855) 877-2707. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>

1960 Pontiac "Bonneville" Engine Size 389 V8 Transmission Type 4 Speed Automatic Primary Color Black Interior Color Red Mileage 0 Stock 860W3942 Video Description 1960 Pontiac Bonneville 4-Door Vista VIN 860W3942 By the end of 1955, Pontiac introduced a long overdue, new V-8 engine. A new era for Pontiac began in 1956 when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen took over the reins as Pontiac's general manager. A new engineering group was assembled headed by Pete Estes and John Z. DeLorean who were tasked with developing new line of cars with an emphasis on performance. To promote the new line of performance Pontiacs, a racing program was developed and a new, optional extra horsepower engine, like those used on the team's racing cars, was made available to potential Pontiac buyers. The new engine was equipped with dual four-barrel carburetors and a full-race camshaft. In 1957, another new engine was offered that was fuel-injected and this engine was only available on the Bonneville series convertibles. By 1957, Pontiac was offering vehicles in four different models. The least expensive model was the Chieftain line which was followed by the Super Chief line, the Star Chief line, and the Star Chief Custom line which was the most expensive of Pontiac's offerings that year. The Star Chief Custom line differed from its lower priced siblings with deluxe two-toned interiors and extra exterior trim features. There were four vehicles offered in the Custom line: a four-door sedan, a four-door hardtop, a two-door hardtop, and the top-of-the-line vehicle a Bonneville convertible. In 1958, the name Bonneville would now represent the top of the line Pontiac models. Starting with the 1959 models, a new marketing strategy was adopted to make Pontiac into a "sporty and youthful car" that would appeal to younger buyers. During the next couple of years, the cars would become wider and lower and have available high performance engines. Pontiac's continued success in the NASCAR racing program helped to promote this new strategy and increase sales. Pontiac would continue to build and sell low to medium priced cars with a variety of trim and mechanical options throughout 1960s. For the 1960 model year, the Pontiac Bonneville line consisted of the Series 27 and the Series 28. The Series 27 was designated only for the station wagon body style while the Series 28 contained three body styles: a four-door Vista hardtop sedan, a two-door hardtop and a convertible. The four-door Vista hardtop sedan had a base price of $3,333 and approximately 39,000 were built and sold. This example was restored during the 1980s. After restoration, this Pontiac was awarded a Senior National First Place Award by the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) in 1987 AND 1997. The vehicle retains these badges on the front bumper. This vehicle is an older restoration done to high point standards and today remains in excellent condition throughout. The body panels are excellent and fit well to each other. The four doors, decklid, and hood all align well and show no signs of damage, repair or neglect. The exterior black finish remains in excellent condition, as does the stainless steel and chrome trim. The interior has been restored in the proper tri-toned russet color combination and is in excellent condition. The dashboard and all of its instruments have been properly restored and today are in excellent condition. The chassis is clean and shows little signs of use. Most of the chassis components have been undercoated. All of the chassis fittings are correct and the chassis and suspension components show no signs of neglect or abuse, indicating that this vehicle was likely very well-preserved prior to its restoration. The engine bay shows extremely well and the correct, V-8 engine is clean and well-detailed. This vehicle has all of the desirable factory options including automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power seats, power windows, Wonder Bar radio, clock, dual antennas, fender skirts, factory wheel covers, whitewall tires, dual rearview mirrors and heater. This example also has its correct Fisher Body number tag affixed to its cowl. Overall, this is a superb example of one of the most desirable enclosed Pontiac models built during the 1960s. It is has been properly restored, maintained and today remains in excellent condition. - Two Time 1st Place National Award Winner - Once a part of the the Howard and Norma Weaver Private Collection Mechanics Date Code Correct Pontiac 389ci V8 Engine Matching 4-Speed Automatic Transmission AFB Single 4bbl Carb Oldsmobile 9.3" Open Rear End with 3.08:1 Gear Ratio Power Steering Power Brakes New Brake Lines New Flexlines Dual Exhaust Coil and Distributor is in Great Shape Nice Bushings Suspension is in Great Shape Body Beautiful Black Paint Fantastic Fit and Finish Dual Rear View Mirrors Dual Antenna Beautiful Chrome and Stainless Door Lips and Jambs are Clean and Solid Fender Skirts Solid Straight Quarters Gorgeous Solid Trunk with Mat and Spare Clean and Well Detailed Chassis Undercoated Floorboards Frame is Solid Rockers have Nice Pinch Welds Factory Wheel Covers Whitewall Tires 3x14 Interior Tri Tone Red Interior Bench Seat Column Shift Restored Dash and Gauges Power Seats Power Windows Wonder Bar Radio Clock Heater Beautiful Carpet Rear Seat with Fold Down Arm Rest Beautiful Headliner Working Dome Light Don't Miss Out! He is the third owner. He has cared well for the car but does not drive it as much as he used to and getting ready to downsize, so the car has to go to a new owner. The car runs and drives very well and he did just install a new starter and had a tune up and oil change performed. There is some minor rust that I think would be easily attended to, luckily the car was Ziebarted early in its life. The front bumper could use replating. The AC is not operational, but everything else worls well. We have the original build sheet, and all maintenance records during his ownership. This would make a great car to restore over time while driving it on sunny summer days in the meantime. We have many more photographs of this car, please click on any image to be taken to our full-size image list! The Pontiac Grand Ville is a full-size car that was the top-trim model in Pontiac's full-sized line from 1971 to 1975. It displaced the Pontiac Bonneville which had served as Pontiac's top-trim model since 1958. The Bonneville itself was not discontinued during this period, but was demoted in status, in effect replacing the discontinued Pontiac Executive. The Grand Ville and Bonneville shared a number of trim and design elements that distinguished them from the Catalina, but the 1971-72 Grand Villes were built on a stretched wheelbase version of the GM "B" platform that nevertheless had identical interior dimensions to all other full-size Pontiacs. In addition to more luxurious interior trimmings, the Grand Ville had distinctive chrome up front and taillight trim at rear to set it apart. For 1974 only, the Grand Ville had its own parking lights, which wrapped around the corner of the front fender. The car was often seen with deluxe appearance options, such as sport wheels and vinyl tops. Rear fender skirts were featured on the 1973 to 1975 models. Standard equipment on Grand Ville models included a 455 cubic-inch V8 engine (for 1971-74 models, a 400 cubic-inch V8 was standard and the 455 optional for 1975), Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission, power steering and power front disc brakes. Popular options included air conditioning, power windows and driver's seat, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, AM/FM stereo with tape deck and much more. One of the rarest options available on Grand Villes and other full-sized Pontiacs during this period was the adjustable brake and accelerator pedals offered from 1974 to 1976. The Grand Ville enjoyed moderate success from 1971 to 1973. However, the Arab Oil Embargo of late 1973 and early 1974 led to gasoline shortages, long lines at filling stations, and skyrocketing pump prices. These factors would sharply cut into full-sized car sales in 1974 as Americans were shunning big gas guzzlers in favor of smaller more fuel-efficient cars. For 1975, the Grand Ville became the Grand Ville Brougham and included more standard equipment than in previous years, such as power windows and a carpeted trunk. This would be the final year for the Grand Ville series, which also included Pontiac's last convertible until 1983. For 1976, the Grand Ville nameplate was dropped and the lineup was renamed Bonneville Brougham, returning that nameplate back to its former flagship status. Grand Ville convertibles were rare in the years from 1971 to 1975, never topping 5,000 per year during the model run. From 1973 to 1975 the Grand Ville was Pontiac's only full-size convertible offering, 1971 and 1972 full-size Pontiac convertibles were offered in both the entry level Catalina line and the posh Grand Ville line. There were no convertible Bonnevilles after the 1970 model year. The rarest of the rare Grand Ville convertibles was the 1971 model with just under 1,800 examples built. The final year 1975 proved to be the most plentiful with just over 4,500 cars built, as word had gotten out that this would be the final year of production. The Grand Ville convertible had the lowest production amongst its corporate cousins, the Oldsmobile 88 Royale, Buick LeSabre/Centurion, Chevrolet Caprice Classic and Cadillac Eldorado convertible lines. 2004 Pontiac GTO The GTO was reintroduced in 2004 after a thirty year absence from the Pontiac lineup. They were built by GM Holden Ltd, an Australian subsidiary of General Motors on a Holden Monaro VZ chassis on the limited import of around 15,000 units. Mine has just under 107k miles on it, and is the desired Black/Black with a 6-speed manual! Sometime in its life an RKSports Ram Air hood and aftermarket trunk spoiler were installed. It also has Longtube headers, free flowing dual exhuast and cat converter delete (these 3 items being not legal for on-road use in CA), it is loud...just the way it should be! Fitted with an aftermarket hurst shifter, it is very comfortable to shift, and really moves out if you choose to do so. If you want to smog this car in CA, then the headers will need to be replaced with smog legal ones and catalytic converters will need to be installed... but if you live any other place than smog nazi California then you`ll get to enjoy the way she sounds and the increased performance! I would trust her to drive anywhere in the country. I just put brand new tires on the front (only 100 miles on them), there are no check lights on the dash and it'll get in the low to mid 20's mpg if you keep your foot out of it. Comes with a clean and clear CA title in my name and ready for transfer. Cons/Needs: ~Has a small Oil leak (haven't diagnosed from where) ~Clear coat is starting to fail on roof/trunk and tops of the fenders ~Lots of rock chips & scratches on the frontend (see pic) ~Driver seat stitching coming apart (common on these) ~6 Disc CD player... ehhh, it sucks....barely works ~Front bumper lower grill is included (in the trunk) ~The gas gauge just quit working a week ago ~Needs rear tires... The Pontiac Chieftain was an automobile produced by the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors from 1949 to 1958. Chieftains were one of the first all new car designs to come to Pontiac in the Post War years. Previous cars had been 1942 models with minor revisions. In 1949 the first generation Chieftain replaced the Pontiac Torpedo as Pontiac's smaller and lower priced model. However, by the early 1950s, Pontiac realized it needed to overhaul its overly conservative styling and outdated straight eight. Finally, in 1955, the "old-man's-car " was dumped -- and the second generation was released. The new, vibrant "Strato-Streak" era was here. The 1955 model Chieftains featured completely new chassis, body and engine. The engine was the biggest news as this was Pontiac's first overhead valve V8. The 287.2 cu. in. engine made 173 or 180 horsepower at 4400 rpm depending on which version was ordered (the difference was due to changes in carburetion and compression ratios). Pontiac definitely benefitted from the massive GM redesign for 1955, sharing much of its' styling cues with contemporary Chevrolets and Buicks. The entry level Chieftain had dog-leg windshields and was wider and lower. Straight through fender lines and attractive two tone paint jobs were divided by bright trim. The hoods had wide stainless strips down each side and a massive divided front bumper. The redesigned models were an overwhelming success, pushing Pontiac over 500,000 units for the first time in history, even though the complete redesign delayed the manufacture. 1955 production did not begin until October 4, 1954. The cars were introduced to the public a mere 15 days later. 58,654 Two Door 860 Sedans were manufactured in 1955. The Chieftain was sold in both Special and Deluxe lines, both carrying the new Strato-Streak V8 engine. Four and two door Chieftain sedans were available, as were the two door Colony station wagons, two door Chieftain Catalina hardtops, and a four door wagon. Chieftains went through another major styling change for the third generation in 1958. All models were given honeycomb grilles, quad head and tail lamps, concave rear fenders, and longer, lower lines. The 1958 models were the last Chieftains to be produced. It was replaced with the all-new Catalina in 1959. The Chieftains paved the way for the future successful models such as Catalina and Bonneville. The Tri Five Chieftains ('55, '56,'57) were by far the most popular. However, the most iconic of the three is the 1955. VIN DECODING: P755H44724 P- Pontiac, MI. Exterior finish still looks good, buffed to a nice shine. In proper lighting, the pearlescent tint really pops. Good, driver quality paint. A few small bubbles on door bottoms and bottom quarter panels. Front and rear bumpers are original and in good condition, with some patina. Stainless trim is in nice condition. Mirrors and door handles have been replaced or replated. Remaining chrome trim is original, in good condition with some pitting. Original Chieftain hood ornament still illuminates. Manual drum brakes. Dual exhaust. This vintage classic runs and drives as well as it looks. Dependable enough to cruise in. Frame and undercarriage are clean and solid. Trunk is in good condition. Has been cleaned up and detailed. Original factory Black interior has been recovered with Ivory vinyl. The recovering was probably done thirty years ago. The White vinyl was installed over the original seat covers. Condition of original interior unknown. However, seats feel firm and comfortable. Front seat and seat covers are in decent condition, with some flaws. Rear seat is in good condition. Vinyl on door panels is curled and delaminating some from the backing. The interior is fine as it is for daily cruising. To elevate the car condition a notch, the new owner could redo the interior. Original factory dash is in good condition. Lights, signals, and brake lights work. Fuel and temperature gauge work. Heater works. All windows roll up and down. Carpet is in good shape. Wipers are not working, as well as horn. Original steering wheel is in good shape, a little separation at the top and bottom. This is a two door sedan, not the typical four door you see mostly on the internet. The pearlescent paint sets this one apart from any of the others for sale currently. Again, you can drive this beauty anywhere. Don't hesitate, this is an investment in the future. We specialize in the unique and rare, future investment affordable collector vehicles at old school prices. Since 1978 we have been a leader in finding rare and desirable cars. Most of our finds have done extremely well for our customers in terms of investments and enjoyment. Here is an example of a rare 1 of LS6 Chevelle we sold for 50k in the early 2000's. http://www.classicmusclecars.com/cgi-bin/swrm/det.cgi?id=131&bl=m-;;k-;;nhs-195;;status-Sold;;sb- It was recently on eBay for 129k and has apparently sold. Another example, we brokered the only 1968 Camaro Z-28 Convertible in July 1993 for 165K, it sold in 2002 for over 7 figures. These are just a couple of examples of the thousands of cars we have sold, and many were super investments. We know the rare muscle car market like no one on the planet.
