Even has the original 1966 California Black license plates. This Toronado has ZERO rust or body filler (never been in a accident that I can see). The body is straight as an arrow with excellent gaps (doors close perfect).The undercarriage is very solid and very original (no previous repairs).The rubber and weather stripping are still very soft.The chrome is very presentable and original.The interior is as new from the factory. Headliner, seats, door panels, carpets, rear package tray and dash are all in wonderful original conditionThe only thing that I did was have the drivers bottom professionally replaced (the stitching was separating). Mechanically the car is EXCELLENT!!!!!!! 425 Motor. Runs, drives and shifts perfect. Cold AC, and hot heat. Recently completed 20 year museum type restoration on a 7500 mile car. Car was bought new by a little old lady who drove the car very sparingly for seven years. When she passed on the car was stored in a garage for 22 years. A gentleman bought the car with plans on restoring it, but it didn't work out so he sold the car to the person I bought it from in 1995. From 1996 to 2014 the car was completely rebuild, engine got rings, bearings. lifters, timing chain, exhaust valves seats and all machine work from A.H.M performance. The body was frame off, stripped of paint, dings repaired and repainted the original Almond Beige by Al Prueitt & Sons. All brake components replaced along with all running gear, bearings, seals, hoses and gaskets. Bumpers and chrome pieces re-plated by A-1 plating co. All new weather-stripping, window seals and all hardware correct. Cadmium plated bolts, zinc phosphate and chrome headed screws all in the right places. The plum upholstery is original and in excellent condition. Everything works on this car. I has beside the stock deluxe package: Power windows Power seat Vacuum door locks Vacuum trunk release Comfortron Climate Control A/C Tilt/Telescoping steering wheel AM radio w/power antenna Cornering lights Rear window defogger This is a Number 1 quality car that only has about 10 test miles since restoration. Even has reproduction bias-ply tires. Runs excellent. I have taken it by trailer to only two local car shows and it won first both times. Comes with car cover, photo album of restoration, book of receipts, assembly and service manuals, and many brochures and such.

In 1988 they started a complete restoration on the car. Engine professionally rebuilt & repainted at 97307miles in 1988 including new PS pump & starter. Total cost $ 2391. In 1989it was completely stripped down to bare metal, all / any rust repaired andrepainted at a cost of $ 2,666. In 1990 the interior was completely redone,Seats, Carpet, headliner, visors, felt, door panels & trunk liner.All records and documentation are there and will come with the Car. Thereafter it was sold to a collector in Kentucky and it sat in his garage for almost 25years. The interior of the car was covered with blankets all this while and thus survived very well. The car has now received a brand new Satin Black paintjob that gives an excellent sheen to its muscular lines. This is NOT a RAT ROD black or Flat Black, but a nice Satin finish. On October 14, 1965, in an effort to maintain its crown as GM'sengineering division, Oldsmobile launched the all-new Toronado, its mostradical car in a 68-year history of innovation. Enter the Toronado. Weighing 4800 pounds, 211 inches long,and riding on a 119-inch wheelbase and the first front-drive production carmade in America since the 1937 Cord 810 and 812. Its long hood and short,"true" fastback deck proportions were exaggerated, but the longdash-to-axle ratio betrayed what lay underneath: a longitudinal 425-cubic-inch,90-degree V-8 engine. With a dual-snorkel air cleaner, an extra-large intakemanifold, and twin exhaust pipes, the Toronado had a gross output of 385horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The new Toronado was the talk of the industry and motoringpress at its debut and a month later was selected by Motor Trend magazine to bethe publication's 1966 'Car of the Year'. This a rare collector car, a classic with regard to its unique styling and a limited production of only 2,453. It is unmolested and original except for replacement of rear fender extensions and glass top of the sun/moonroof assembly. The car was sold new in Beaverton, Oregon on 6-28-78 and the original papers reflect the buyer's name and address from the selling dealer Herzog Motors, Inc. , a dealer who survives to this day with 3rd generation family ownership as Herzog-Meier. This XS comes with its original paperwork including the sun/moonroof instructions and tool. More importantly, the original window sticker showing the exact options this car has. It also has a Driver Controlled Leveling System for the rear which is much like the leveling systems of later GM luxury cars. It is loaded with options including sunroof, red leather interior, 6-way power seats adjustable individually for driver and passenger, air conditioning, lamp out monitoring system, Driver's audible reminder for Low Coolant, Hi-Lo Voltage, Engine Hot and Lights On. Stereo is equipped with a built-in 8-track tape player and 25 tapes will be included with the sale, an OEM set of original red rubber mats for the flat floor in front with a matching mat for the rear seat floor ( a picture is included with this listing ). The passenger side also features a matching detachable litter basket covered in matching carpet mounted near the door opening. A regular set of red rubber mats ( not OEM ) is also included with the car. There is also a photo of the trunk to show a full sized spare tire and wheel, replacing a space saving spare tire and compact air inflation tank. The XS has a panoramic wrap around rear window, giving an unobstructed view with no pillars. It has a wheelbase of 122 inches, a total length of 227 inches, weighs in at 4,800 lbs, providing a smooth, luxurious ride. It also has an electronic system called MISAR that uses a 10 bit microprocessor, the first GM auto computer controlling ignition and production of power. It senses atmospheric pressure, engine vacuum, temperature and speed to determine optimum spark advance, enabling better fuel economy. Dash gauges also include one for the driver to visually see the amount of vacuum when driving to maintain top economy. The MISAR's first introduction was on the 1977 / 1978 Toronados. The 1978 Toronado was further improved by relocating the speed sensor to inside the distributor, from the crankcase pulley. The 1978 Toronado was the last of the big luxury Olds cars, used most of the drive train first introduced on the 1966 Toronado, the trailblazer that introduced the truly new style with front wheel drive, including torsion bar front suspension. The 1977 / 1978 Toronado featured a 403 cu. in. displacement engine, replacing the iconic 455 engine. Both power trains were also used on the GMC motorhome, the first motorhome designed and built from the ground up. These were built from 1973 until 1978 and three quarters of the 12,000 built are still running today. This XS has the 403 engine and it runs great. The Hydramatic transmission is 3 speed and provides smooth power throughout all speed ranges. The styling that enables the Toronado's uniqueness is a driver's compartment set rearward on the chassis, allowing a longer hood that is large but also innovative in that it is made of aluminum. This leaves a smaller than average trunk in the rear but fortunately so wide that even a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood can be accommodated. The remaining Toronado XS's are getting rarer and appreciating in value as the 70's generation looks for the cars they grew up with. My XS is a collector's car, a cream puff dream car that has standard GM parts, easy to maintain with plenty of room around the engine for service access. Along with the large number of GMC motorhomes surviving, many parts and service providers exist, assuring availability long into the future for Toronado owners. If you are looking for the best, take a close look at this one. It is not perfect but it very much the exceptional car that it started out to be, only it is getting to be rarer and rarer automobile.
