This 1983 Oldsmobile Toronado is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. Brought to market in 1966 the Toronado was a completely different car in just about every way shape and form. From the front wheel drive format to its unusual styling the Toronado was a statement piece for the Oldsmobile line of products. They even logged over 1.5 million test miles to prove that the front wheel drive system was as strong as they said. The car was so over built that the drive train was actually used in the GMC line of motor homes. All the hard work did eventually payoff with the 1966 being named Car of the Year. The third generation was released in 79 and was a much different car in many ways. It had lost over 1000 pounds and shortened by 20 inches. All of this was done while amazingly adding more passenger space. This 83 Toronado has been meticulously cared for with it only having two owners with the first owner having it pretty much its whole life. The exterior is shows the original paint and is in excellent condition and shows very well. Pop the hood and the original 307 CID motor lies in the engine bay. Just as clean as the exterior the motor sounds great but definitely looks different with it sitting sideways to accommodate the front wheel drive. Open the door and you will see an interior that is plush and meant for long drives. The front seat has additional padding that adds to the comfort level. With everything on the car being power operated this was definitely fully loaded for 1983. Options on this 1983 Oldsmobile Toronado include; AC, AM/FM/Cassette, Cruise, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Seats, Power Windows, Tilt, Seat Belts, Cloth Interior Hub Caps and Radial Tires. This 1983 Oldsmobile Toronado is located in our Louisville showroom, for more information please call 812-294-1555. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>

RARE OFFERING - 1968 OLDS TORONADO - VERY EXCELLENT CONDITION - 57,317 ACTUAL MILES - GARAGE KEPT - OFFERED FOR SALE BY SECOND OWNER - CLEAN TITLE - In 1966, Oldsmobile introduced its sporty but comfortable Toronado, which was based on the same A-body platform as the Cadillac Eldorado and Buick Riviera. The Toronado was most notable as the first American car since the Cord 812 to feature front-wheel drive and V-8 power as well as for its distinctive, angular styling and hidden headlamps. Prior to its introduction, the Toronado was extensively tested and developed, and it is believed that well over one million test miles were recorded to sort out the cars unorthodox front-drive layout. Such development work was necessary because the Toronados 425 cubic inch Super Rocket V-8 produced 385 horsepower, uncharted territory in the world of front-wheel drive. Its Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic was chain-driven from the engine, an ingenious solution to a difficult packaging problem. The Toronado impressed the motoring world, winning Motor Trends Car of the Year for 1966. Despite its 5,000-pound weight, the Toronado handled quite well and could reach the then noteworthy top speed of 135 miles per hour. The drive train was even used, mostly unchanged, in GMC motor homes of the 1970s. This 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado has been an Arkansas car since purchased new from Bradley Dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma and a well maintained example. It is finished in an eye-catching turquoise with the sporty darker turquoise taunea roof trim and has a matching turquoise interior, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, automatic transferring the power from the 455 cu inch engine. Loaded with options, this car represents one of the automotive milestones of the 1960s and one of the most important models that Oldsmobile ever built. A straight and very pretty Arkansas car, it will lend itself well to long, fast and comfortable cruising and will be a joy both to look at and to drive.......and head turning appreciative looks you will get.
