Back in 1950, this Oldsmobile 98 Holiday coupe was not only one of the most stylish cars on the road by virtue of its innovative hardtop styling, but also one of the fastest thanks to Oldsmobile\'s famous \"Rocket\" V8. Even today, it\'s a blast to drive and makes for one of the most handsome cars of the period. The hardtop look arrived with the overhead valve V8 engine in 1949, instantly making Oldsmobile the big kid on the block when it came to performance. Everything else that came before it was second-place, and if you were fast, you had a Rocket under your hood. The fantastic styling of this top-of-the-line 98 Holiday coupe makes it the ideal professional hot rod of the period, and draping it in Garnet Maroon gives it the perfect upscale look. Blending a few curves left over from the 1940s and a streamlined look that would define the 1950s, this Olds was carefully refinished to a very high level and still looks fantastic following a repaint just a few years ago. The chrome and trim is beautifully done and the rocket theme repeats itself on the hood ornament and under the headlights, which resemble the intakes on a fighter plane. The three-pane rear window was a GM styling trademark, as were the lovely \"globe\" emblems front and rear. It\'s obvious this car has led a really good life. There\'s plenty of evidence of that inside, where you\'ll find an almost 100% original interior. The cloth and leather seats have a very comfortable, inviting look that\'s far from looking its age. The understated colors work quite well and GM stylists worked hard to give each brand a unique look. For Oldsmobile, it was a two-tiered dashboard that put all the gauges in a single pod ahead of the driver, plus a gorgeous steering wheel that echoes the exterior styling. As Oldsmobile\'s top-of-the-line model, it should be no surprise that this car features power hydraulic windows and a power seat, both of which were still a big deal in 1950. There\'s also an AM radio in the dash and a Hydra-Matic transmission on the steering column. Chrome knobs and levers echo the aircraft theme. The trunk is unquestionably original, with factory fabric and a full-sized spare of indeterminate age. Oldsmobile\'s 303 cubic inch V8 was a very big deal in 1949, and 1950 only helped cement its position as THE engine to have. The neatly dressed overhead valve V8 carries its original 2-barrel carburetor with air cleaner, Rocket valve covers with special brackets for the plug wires, and even a factory generator still making the juice. Power steering was added at some point (it wasn\'t OEM until 1952) and uses factory-style components so that only an expert will notice. And GM\'s Hydra-Matic automatic transmission delivered sparkling performance behind the fast-revving V8 engine, especially when breathing through a rumbling dual exhaust system. The chassis features originality and years of grease and dirt, but no major issues and offers more proof that this car really has been well-maintained all its life. Painted steel wheels with full wheel covers are fitted with 8.20-15 Firestone wide whites for the perfect 1950s cruiser look. With ownership history dating almost to day one, this wonderful Oldsmobile 98 offers contemporary performance with a fantastic old-school look. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom. For more information, please call (817) 764-8000 or toll free (855) 877-2707. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>

For sale in our Orlando showroom 1950 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina. Pontiac%26acirc;??s lineup was restyled in 1949 by Herman Kaiser along Harley Earl%26acirc;??s guidelines. The cars featured a full-width body and curved two-piece windshield common to Cadillac and Oldsmobile. Two models were built, the Streamliner and Chieftain, and both rode on a 120-inch wheelbase. Both could also be ordered with either a 239-cid six-cylinder L-head engine that made 90 hp, or a 248-cid straight-eight mill that developed 104 hp. Transmissions were the Hydra-Matic automatic (78%) and three-speed manual The Chieftain was Pontiac%26acirc;??s upmarket model, replacing the 1948 Pontiac Torpedo, and it essentially offered more trim and an extra seating space for approximately $25 more than the Streamliner. Like the Streamliner, the Pontiac Chieftain could be ordered with DeLuxe trim, which added a full-length side spear and gravel guards to the rear fenders. Base Chieftains could be ordered as business coupes, two-door sedan coupes, and two- and four-door sedans. The DeLuxe Chieftains traded the utilitarian business coupe for a convertible. The 1950 Pontiac Chieftain changed little, excepting a new grille and the addition of a steel-bodied station wagon. Also new was the Catalina hardtop, which closely resembled the Chevrolet Bel Air of the same year. The 1951 model year saw the Chieftain line expand to include base, DeLuxe and Super DeLuxe trim in both six- and eight-cylinders (now producing 96 and 116 hp respectively), and the Catalina Hardtop was available in DeLuxe and Super DeLuxe trim. The Chieftain also could be ordered in business coupe and sedan coupe forms. This 1950 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina has 88,000 original mile and would be described as a beautiful survivor. 1950 was the first the Catalina was introduced and the first year for Pontiac 2 door hardtop. The original interior is absolutely gorgeous. Options include Straight 8 engine, Dual range 4 speed Hydra-Matic transmission, 12 volt conversion, Chrome bows on headliner, Traffic light view finder, Chrome silver streak hood %26 trunk emblems, Chrome silver streak side spears, Glowing \"Chief Pontiac\" hood emblems, Original chrome trimmed visor, Front bumper guards %26 grille guard, Rear bumper guards, Factory reverse lights. This is an all original low mile car with lots of documentation included. Documentation includes Factory owner manual, Original owner service manual, Factory Pontiac lubrication chart, Factory Hydra-Matic service guide, Factory cleaning tissue, and a Copy of original \"Certificate of Title\". Coming in soon from restoration shop, stay tuned for more information and photos. Buick entered the post-war market with an enormous pent-up demand that exceeded many of its rivals due to it being one of Americans favorite marques in the late 30s and early 40s. They were large and fast with sporty lines and symbolized Americas upward mobility that was part of GM%26apos;s product planing. Styling had not changed to any great degree for 1948 although there was an important new innovation, the Dynaflow automatic transmission. It would soon be included on all Roadmasters and a popular option for the other series. New styling appeared in 1949 and ventiports, often referred to as portholes, would soon become an identifying feature for Buick made their initial appearance on the front fenders. The 1949 super series 50 shared the new c-body with the Roadmaster but with a slightly shorter wheelbase. It featured the three chrome ventiports on each fender. It was powered by the in-line cast iron eight with a 248 cubic inch displacement that offered 110 horsepower. The 1950 Buick Super featured the new prominent %26quot;bucktooth%26quot; grill with an all bumper grill guard and more rounded styling. They had ventiports on each side of the hood with four for the Roadmaster and three for the supers and special. For 1950 the portholes or ventiports became flatter and were moved from the front fenders to the sides of the hood. Buick stayed with the tried and proven valve in head %26quot;Fireball%26quot; straight eight engine rather than following Cadillac and Oldsmobile to the short-stroke V-8. That would come in 1953. The model 56c convertible was equipped with leather power seats as well as power windows and top. Model year production was a record for Buick with 558,439 leaving the factory. Sales placed them fourth on the sales charts. This 1950 Buick super series 50 convertible is powered by the %26quot;valve in head, ahead in value%26quot; 263 cubic inch straight eight cylinder engine that produces 124 horsepower. The engine had its origin in 1936 and would used by buick for a few more years. This example is presented in an attractive yellow livery. It is mated up to the optional dynaflow transmission and, of course, is distinguished by its three iconic chrome ventiports on each side of the hood. Only 12,259 buick super convertibles were produced and they were priced at $2476 which was about $500 less that the roadmaster convertible. According to buick authorities few have survived. This very attractive example is powered by a 263 cubic inch in-line 8 cylinder engine that produces 124 horsepower. With leather seats, power windows and top it is an exceptional example of elegant early fifties buick styling. Straight 8 cylinder motor, dynaflow automatic transmission, power windows, power seat, power convertible hartz top, am radio, clock, leather interior, plush carpets, new professional base coat Red paint, all new chrome, polished stainless steel trim. Gorgeous rust free virginia vehicle, runs and drives smooth. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>
