For sale in our Detroit showroom is a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Pro-Street. 1968 was the middle year of the first generation Camaros and the last of the original body design for the Chevrolet \"pony car.\" The pony cars of the 1960s were meant to be affordable and compact, with performance kept in mind during the creation of their highly-styled image. This one has been restored and modified into a glistening vessel of raw muscle, packaged wonderfully in a sleek stance and finish, resulting in an ultimate street or strip machine. The added bonus of pro-street builds is that despite being highly-competitive on the quarter mile, they remain street legal, with functioning headlights, brake lights, and turn signals. Under the hood is a fresh full roller 489 c.i. Chevy big block, equipped with Bowtie heads and H-beam rods, with only 200 miles and no track passes on the rebuild. Its backed by a Ford 9\" rear end, 4.30 ring gear race spool, and Turbo 400 transmission. Inside is a 12-point, NHRA-certified cage, ceramic coated fully polished custom-built aluminum floor plans, and racing buckets with five-point harnesses. For shoes, the car is equipped with Kuhmo Power Star 758 165/80R15/87 T front tires, and huge Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro 51x18.50x15 rear tires, with custom-built American Racing wheels. Other options include: vinyl interior, radial tires, tinted windows, B%26M shifter, 15-gallon fuel cell, rear-mounted battery, racing tach, and Autometer gauges. This Camaro has approximately 800 horse power and sounds as ferocious as they come! Condition: Used Exterior color: Gold Interior color: Black Transmission: Manual Fule type: Gasoline Engine: 6 Sub model: 325IS Drivetrain: RWD Vehicle title: Clear Body type: Coupe Warranty: Vehicle does NOT have an existing warranty Standard equipment: Power nothing,Awesomeness CD Player DESCRIPTION: I think it speaks mostly for itself, but here is some info about it: There is a whole blog about the buildup of the car which can be found here: http://newman.onyxsyndicate.com/e30gtr/e30gtr_00.htm The car was featured on Jalopnik.com as well as in print from S3 magazine (I have some copies if you want them) No expense was spared. I have about $45,000 invested in the car, really... plus 4 years of my time. The car saw 500hp/400ft-lb on a MUSTANG dyno. You can probably turn up the boost and make more power. It was plenty for me. Almost every step of the build process was documented in the blog. If you have a question, its probably answered in there. If you have a specific question, drop me a message. Heres a list of what its built from, there are probably even more things that I am forgetting on here... Special-edition cars are no big deal today, but back in 1990, racing legend Ronnie Sox put his name and talent to work on a Ford Mustang and ended up whit this awesome little coupe. One of only six built and the only one to have a full-tilt Boss 302 engine instead of a garden-variety 5.0, it\'s a comprehensively modified car that makes for one heck of an entertaining package, even 25 years later. The booming 5.0 aftermarket made building a \"special edition\" car easy back in the 1990s, but Ronnie Sox and the guys at Shotgun Customs did it the hard way. The LX coupe was stripped and treated to a unique red and white paint job that Ronnie Sox fans will recognize instantly, plus a set of special ground-effects that look great on the notchback body style. A hood scoop replicates the Boss 302\'s Shaker setup, while a wrap-around rear spoiler and GT-spec taillights give it a unique look as it\'s running away from its victims. As a special-edition car, it got the requisite badging and decals, and someone has obviously kept this one someplace safe, because it looks fantastic even today. Where a lot of 5.0 Mustangs were abused, this one obviously led a charmed life and is one of only three survivors of those six originally built. The interior was obviously heavily influenced by Ronny Sox\'s racing involvement, and the deeply sculpted bucket seats, 6-point roll cage, and other race-spec components all bear that out. With just over 4100 miles on the clock, everything is pretty much as it was when the car was first completed and the driving experience is, shall we say, intense. Grab the Hurst cue ball, spark up the engine which rumbles with a big cam and shows on the monster tach as having lightning-quick throttle response, and hang on, because this is one heck of a ride. The factory gauges still do their thing, but you\'ll probably be more interested in the auxiliary dials mounted up top in the center of the dash. The fat steering wheel is a big improvement over the clumsy factory piece and the finish quality throughout the interior is better than any home-built 5.0 you\'ve ever seen. There\'s a back seat that was upholstered to match the front buckets and custom door panel inserts that look smart. Even the trunk is pretty much stock, aside from the down bars on the cage, which are properly attached to the subframe. The engine is technically a 5.0, but it\'s more accurately a Boss 302 with boss heads and a big 4-barrel carburetor. It snarls and barks like a race piece and pulls the lightweight coupe around with gusto. There are race-spec parts everywhere you look, but it also includes niceties such as power steering and 4-wheel power disc brakes. The chassis is further reinforced with subframe connectors and just dig those amazing long-tube headers that maximize ground clearance! Flowmaster mufflers, Koni adjustable shocks, custom springs, a Doug Nash 5-speed, and 3.55 gears in the rear end make this much more than a garden-variety 5.0 Mustang. Even the wheels have a period-perfect look, wearing staggered performance radials wide enough to really make it stick. This car is hardcore in all the places that it matters, but thanks to careful engineering, it\'s still quite street-friendly and definitely makes an impact everywhere Mustang fans are gathered. If you missed your 5.0 in the \'90s, here\'s an amazing second chance. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
