1969 Jeep Jeepster Commando Convertible. 44,000 miles, exterior: Yellow, Interior: Black, I am the third owner. It sold new in Atlanta, Georgia at RGA Motors. My dad bought it used at Timmerman Motors in Aiken, South Carolina around 1971. I bought it from my dad in 1999. Everything is original except the wheels, they are off of a Dodge Ram van. I have the original wheel covers, but not the wheels. It has the Buick V-6 with an automatic on the console and power brakes. The brake system was rebuilt 10/12/10 at 40,099 miles. It has four wheel drive high and low with Warn Automatic Hubs. Original top, upholstery and floor mats. Paint is thin and has great patina. It has spent 95% of its life garaged. Has no rust rot anywhere, but shows some surface rust and some small dings. Has an AM radio, but antenna is broken and lying inside by back seat. Drives very nice, but tires are worn and at this pace may need replaced in about 10 years, Zipper for back plastic window is broken and will need replaced. The build started as a stock Jeep Commando colored in a boring green paint indicative of the 70s. Now, having a documented frame off restoration, the Commando is painted is a bright yellow and offers a fuel injected engine backed by a 5-spd manual transmission. It simply doesn\'t get much better. This car has a brand new fuel pump and fuel filter, new spark plugs, rebuilt the carburetor, new battery, replaced brake fluid, cleaned and adjusted brakes, new upholstery, new air filter, changed coolant, changed engine oil and changed transmission fluid. It is a really fun car to drive around and people love it everywhere I go. I originally had collectors plates though now I have temporary plates on. The driver seat and rear seat fold down forward while the front passenger seat is stationary. I had to replace the front left fender from a small crash many years ago. The new fender is black but off a 1970 Jeeptser and a perfect match in shape. I wish I had more time to get into painting and some touch up work but I have to sell because I am moving out of town soon. It would make a wonderful addition if you are a collector and would be a great car if you just want something to drive around. Very powerful and very fun car with the top on or off.
