Rare barn find sitting for over 35 years with original paint and the patina on this car is great. This is a 1955 Jaguar Mark VII M There where only 2,016 of the M left hand drive cars produced and this cars engine produced 190 hp that was capable of 104 mph witch was the same drivetrain that was in the XK sports cars. This Jaguar has 4 speed manual transmission with the rare overdrive option. The engine is all original and turns over by hand. This is a project car that is 95% complete. The glass is perfect and the chrome has very few blemishes on it. The pictures show all the parts that go with the car. I have ownership paperwork but no title. The transmission with overdrive alone is worth my asking price. Interesting fact on the 1955 Mark 7 M car is that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth drove a 1955 Jaguar Mark VII M as her daily driver from 1955 to 1973. Also Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorne raced the 1955 Jaguar Mark 7 M in races and won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1956.

1952 jag mk vii with fender skirts, sunroof, chevrolet 8 cylinder engine and auto tranny. Solid body and frame for its age. On piece windsceen installed. Interior work was started but never finished. It ran and drove around the parking lot more than a year ago but had no brakes. I haven't had time to continue the work so it has been sitting since. Mice and time have gotten to some of the interior already. It's missing the front bumper, grill and misc trim. It is also missing some of the interior wood and misc trim. Boxes of stuff in the trunk. Good texas title. Thanks

Average sale price for 2013: High sale $40,084 / Average Sale $35,167 / Low Sale $30,250 (from Conceptcarz) 1959 Jaguar MD IX Life changed after World War II. After five years of war, Britain emerged worn-torn and weary, but ready to enjoy life. The technology of the war years was finding its way into the post-war racing scene and into car production. This turned a number of would-be passengers into drivers. And Jaguar was in a prime position to take advantage of this shift in thinking. The Jaguar MK IX represents one of the first and finest examples of the owner-driver luxury car. Back in 1956, Jaguar introduced its big Mark VIII at the London Motor Show. Similar to the Mark VII, the new car’s interior featured more luxurious appointments and fittings. The large, rectangular grille was accented by chrome and large headlights. This was a change from its predecessor. Chrome trim applied to the car's waist allowed Jaguar to create two-toned paint schemes, which further caused the car to be reminiscent of the more luxurious chauffer-driven cars like Rolls-Royce and others. During the period of the big cats, Jaguar was also having success in sports car racing. Routinely, the company's sports cars were favorites at such races as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and other endurance events. This allowed the technology used in their sports cars to make it into their luxurious production cars. One of the first of the company's production cars to benefit from the company's racing pedigree was its Mark IX. Introduced in 1959, the Mark IX replaced the Mark VIII, but, bore a striking resemblance to the car it replaced. The large, rectangular-shaped chrome grille remained for the Mark IX. It too offered chrome trim and two-toned paint schemes. Though bearing great similarity with its predecessor on the outside, the 'new' parts of the car were more noticeable inside the passenger compartment, and in areas less visible. The interior was offered with a number of luxuriant appointments, including copious amounts of fine inlaid burl walnut, vat-dyed Connolly leather seats and doors, Wilton carpeting and a standard sunshine roof. Drawing from the company's racing success, the Mark IX was one of the first production cars to offer four-wheel disc brakes, developed by Dunlop. Power for the 4,000 pound cat came from an enlarged 3.8-liter, 220 bhp dual overhead cam straight 6-cylinder engine. The power was delivered to the wheels by a Borg Warner three speed automatic gearbox. However, a four speed manual transmission and overdrive were offered as optional. Ride comfort and handling was controlled through torsion bar independent front suspension and a leaf sprung live rear axle. Each of these suspension features were retained from its Mark VIII predecessor. Besides the more important luxurious features, the large, 120 inch wheelbase also enabled the interior to be roomy and comfortable. It also allowed for a large, deep trunk. The deep trunk allowed for the car's spare tire to be fitted vertically inside of it, although taking away from the overall available trunk space. Some of the car's more interesting features were found by exploring the number of recessed compartments around the car and by taking it for a spin, especially at night. A number of the recessed compartments would feature basic tools necessary to work on the car. The steering wheel had the ability to telescope. Interestingly, the Mark IX was fitted with black-light bulbs for the illumination of the dash. The rear seat passengers were able to enjoy twin picnic tables, a clock and a locking center cabinet. Surprisingly, the big cat was also a solid performer. It could go zero to 60 mph in 11.3 seconds. The car had a top speed of 114 mph. The power and the disc brakes have also caused the Mark IX to become a common choice for Goodwood's 'Revival' meetings. Nose to tail, Jaguar's Mark IX was and is a truly aesthetically pleasing car. But its true luxuriousness comes from seeing and feeling this big cat. The car's performance, ride, comfort and looks make it absolutely understandable why the Mark IX was able to compete with Rolls Royce and other luxurious automobiles. Comfortable at speed and on a slow drive in the summer sunshine, the Mark IX provided a truly wonderful way to experience and enjoy the world and life. In the care of a long term owner the car was purchased in 1996 with just 35,000 miles on it, so in the intervening 20 years he only put 5,000 miles on the car. We recently acquired the car from his estate, and have found it to be an exceptional original car. It runs and drives absolutely perfectly, I have personally put about 2000 miles on the car taking it to a 2 concours and driving it on local tours, and its really a great car!  The exhaust note is simply intoxicating, it handles perfectly, shifts smoothly, brakes work perfectly, its fast and nimble, goes down the road straight and true. The car is in excellent condition throughout, and the seats exhibit just the right amount of patina. They would redye well but we have chosen to leave them as is. The often collapsed head rest foam is in good order here owing to its indoor storage. There are some minor paint chips here and there and a scratch on the drivers side of the bonnet, but these are visible only upon close inspection and are easily touched up, I had the paint professionally matched, which is included, and have done some touch up, but with more time I think you can avoid a repsray, whichis alwyas good on an original survivor like this.  All gauges work but the tach does stick from time to time. Car runs cool and does not overheat even on very hot days. This unusual color combination is quite striking in person, I am not sure these photographs really do the car justice. There are many hard to find original items under the hood that are often gone in these cars such as the vacuum hose connector, the undercarriage shield, and much more. This is really a pretty amazingly well preserved example. I have found no rust. The original top does have a few tears on the drivers side where it stresses when collapsed, but otherwise this car needs nothing but a happy new owner. Books, tools, and records, accompany the car. I have priced the car to sell under the market for these cars allowing for you to do the minor touch up need and be ahead of the game. This really is one of the best Series III Jags your going to find, a car you will be glad you bought and will put a big smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel. This is the one to buy if you are looking for Series III in something other than Red or BRG. This is a truly great car that has been loved and maintained properly its whole life.  I would love to add this car to my collection, but have no more room, and its not supposed to be my job to keep every great car I get in.   The stunning color combination on this fully decked out 4 speed factory A/C car make this a sure bet for increased appreciation as the XKE market continues to accelerate. We have many more photographs of this car, please click on any image to be taken to our full-size image list! Founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, by two motorcycle enthusiasts, William Lyons and William Walmsley, the SS Jaguar name first appeared on a 2.5 litre saloon in 1935. The Jaguar name was given to the entire company in 1945 when the SS was dropped due to lack of popularity from WWII. Jaguar made its name in the 1950s with a series of elegantly-styled sports cars and luxury saloons. The company bought the Daimler Motor Company (not to be confused with Daimler-Benz), in 1960 from Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA). From the late 1960s, Daimler was used as a brand name for Jaguar's most luxurious saloons. The Jaguar company started production with the pre-war 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 litre models which used engines designed by the Standard Motor Company. The 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine was still supplied by Standard but the two larger six-cylinder ones were made in house. These cars have become known unofficially as Mark IVs. The first post war model was the 1948 Mark V available with either 2.5 or 3.5 litre engines and had a more streamlined appearance than pre-war models, but more important was the change to independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes. The big breakthrough was the launch in 1948 of the XK120 sports car, with the new XK twin overhead camshaft (DOHC) 3.5 litre hemi-head six-cylinder engine designed by William Heynes, Walter Hassan and Claude Baily. This engine had been designed during the long nights during the war when they would be on fire watch in the factory. After several attempts a final design was arrived at. That is until owner William Lyons said "make it quieter". The car had originally been intended as a short production model of about 200 vehicles as a test bed for the new engine until its intended home, the new Mark VII saloon, was ready. The XK120's reception was such that production continued until 1954; it was followed by the XK140, the XK150, and the E-Type, keeping Jaguar in the sports car market. The E-type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourerin two seater coupé form (FHC or Fixed Head Coupe) and as convertible (OTS or Open Two Seater). The model was made in 3 distinct versions generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2" and "Series 3". A transitional series between Series 1 and Series 2 is known unofficially as "Series 1½". Series 2 cars such as this one feature Open headlights without glass covers (Earlier cars had problems with misting, despite gaskets), a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and taillights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged "mouth" and twin electric fans, and uprated brakes are hallmarks of Series 2 cars. De-tuned in US, but still with triple SUs in the UK, the engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial 'ribbed' appearance. Late Series 1½ cars also had ribbed cam covers. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned, with flick switches being substituted for rocker switches that met U.S health and safety regulations. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted, which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options. It was available in FHC, OTS, and 2+2 versions. The E type is generally considered one of the seminal sports car designs of all time, in fact it was displayed in the Museum of Modern Art due to its stunning lines. No collection is complete without an E type.
