This 1932 Ford 5-window coupe just looks tough. Not just pretty, but mean. And with a snarky 327 under the hood and 4-wheel disc brakes, it\'s got the moves to back up its bad attitude. Hi-boys will never go out of style. They\'re the prototypical hot rod, the ultimate in minimalism and performance from the very earliest days of hot-rodding. And while a lot of guys build the same car over and over, this one has a unique look that\'s very appealing. Sure, all the basics are there, from the chopped top to the nose-down ride height, but those big wheels and tires and plenty of ground clearance suggest that it doesn\'t have time for being pretty, it has races to win. The black paint is simple and timeless, and again, it\'ll always look stylish. The simple red pinstripe ties it together with the interior and follows the original contours of the body for a vintage vibe. The hood is removable, as are the minimalist fenders, so if you like the engine-out, no-fenders look, it\'s available with a few turns of a wrench. Finish quality is decent, but like I said, this one isn\'t about being pretty, it\'s about function. Reminding us of that fact are the trick tubular bumpers, basic round LED taillights, and shiny grille insert. The black and red interior sure isn\'t subtle, but in this car it definitely works. The 5-window coupe\'s interior geometry is a bit different than the 3-window, so there\'s plenty of legroom. Custom door panels and seat covers use simulated ostrich skin ultraleather that adds a cool texture and it\'s full of thoughtful touches like the slide-out cup holders under the seat. A variety of vintage-looking instruments fill the dash, along with controls for the power windows and the AM/FM/CD stereo head unit over there in front of the passenger. Perhaps the most unusual feature is the custom steering wheel, and makes everyone who sees it do a double-take. And despite the compact dimensions, this car carries heat and A/C cleverly integrated into the trunk so that you really can drive it anywhere, anytime. Speaking of the trunk, it\'s pretty much filled by the fuel cell and climate controls, but everything is neatly upholstered to match and hidden under a power-actuated trunk lid. Traditional power comes from a 327 cubic inch Chevy V8 that puts function ahead of style, although it still manages a vintage hi-po look. Chrome valve covers and a finned air cleaner are the obvious upgrades, but perhaps more notable is how well everything is packaged to fit under that narrow hood. The accessories are snugged in tight to the block and the block-hugging exhaust system uses side pipes to great effect. With a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and a long-legged rear end from a Ford Explorer (complete with disc brakes!), this is an effortless highway cruiser that\'s a joy to drive. Simple 17-inch wheels with big 215/65/17 front and 265/65/17 rear give this Ford a butch look without looking like every other \'32 hi-boy out there. Admittedly, this rod isn\'t for everyone, but if you appreciate attention to detail and clever engineering, not to mention this car\'s new take on an old look, then you really should give it a closer look.
