White with black leather interior. I purchased it as a Toyota certified vehicle. The warranty is transferable. Factory warranty until May 27, 2017 and the extended warranty goes to 100,000 miles or 5/27/2021. There is nothing wrong with this vehicle, it is fantastic. I just have too many vehicles and need to trim the stable. In response to questions about Title, it is clear and in hand.

1999 Toyota Land Cruiser Mileage: 181,532 milesExterior Color: Riverrock Green Mica (looks grayish)Interior Color: OakPrice: $8,500 This is a ONE-OWNER, NON-SMOKER vehicle. The Carfax report will show it as a two-owner truck, but that is because it was first owned by Toyota Motor Credit (their lease company). I leased this new truck in late 1998 and drove it about 82,000 miles in the first three years, most of which were highway miles. I purchased the truck at the end of the lease, and it has been driven mostly by my wife since then. The truck runs well and the engine still seems very strong. I have towed a small boat with the truck 2 or 3 times, but other than that it has never towed anything else. The truck has never been driven off road. Original options include: Rear Differential Lock, Leather Trim Package, Third Seat Package, Tilt/Slide Moonroof, Rear Climate Control. The truck has never been involved in an accident with a moving vehicle. The front passenger side door was repainted in 1999 after a guy bumped a shopping cart into the door. The paint has held up well for 15 years and you would never know it was repainted. I backed into a pole in 2000 and dented the liftgate. I had the dent fixed and the liftgate repainted. The paint was equally well done and you would never know it was repainted. The front bumper and fender were damaged in 2012 by hitting a neighbor’s white picket fence, and the rear bumper was damaged in 2014 when backing into a parked car at church. The truck has been professionally detailed every year, and all maintenance has been done at the dealership. The Carfax report only shows one maintenance record, which was in 2014. I’m not sure why they don’t have everything. I have some receipts from the first few years and I have some receipts from the last few years. I installed a flat screen Pioneer AppRadio 3 in 2014. You can see the specs here http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/AppRadio/AppRadio+3+(SPH-DA210) . It has Bluetooth for your phone, and it can run various apps for navigation and music. A backup camera can be purchased and installed to work with the radio. I have the wiring installed so I you can plug in an iPhone5 or iPhone 6, but that can be changed to accept your model phone. I have one properly working and non-cracked programmed key for the truck. I also have two cracked, but working programmable keys and one valet key. It is important to have a least one back up programmed key (which is why I keep the cracked ones), since you cannot make a new programmed key unless you have another one that works. The only way to make a programmed key if you do not have another one is to replace the ECU which is well over $1,000.The truck has always been serviced at the dealer. Here are some service highlights: Timing belt was replaced at 134,000 milesTires are Michelin LTX M/S P275 70 R16. They have about 10,000 miles on them and have a lot of life left.New hood struts in 2014New liftgate struts in 2014New tailgate cables in 2014New rear brakes at 178,000 milesService at 178,000 miles included air cleaner, pvc valve, 4 wheel alignment, new gasket on drainplug, spark plugs, 4X4 service, new front axles, new front sway bar bushings.Removed the crossbars from the roof rack, but I still have them and they can be reinstalled.Replaced some worn sections of leather on the front seats in 2014.Several coil packs were replaced in 2013.Front brakes were done in the fall of 2012.Replaced the sunroof gasket in 2014.Removed the cowl around the windshield wiper and repainted it along with the wiper arms.Repainted the bumper strips on the sides of the truck, as they faded over time. The carpeted floor mats are only one year old, except for the cargo area mat which is about 10 years old. I have some older weather tech mats for the first and second rows, which you can have as well. CarFax: I can email the Carfax report to you. As noted above, I’m not sure why the Carfax report does not show the service history other than the recent service in 2014. Known Issues:An 18 inch crack near top center of windshield centered on the rear view mirror. It is not in the driver’s line of site. An unfortunate result of a foul ball at a baseball game a couple of months ago.Small hole in driver’s side carpet, which has been there since 2000 (from my left heel rubbing up against it). It has an iron-on patch over it, which can be seen in the photos. Two dents on front right fender from my son hitting a neighbor’s white picket fence. Front right bumper is also scratched and dented from the incident with the fence.Minor door dings and small scratches around truck.Rear bumper is scratched and dented. The worst of the dents is on the right side as a result of backing into a parked car at church.3 small dents on hood from falling acorns,..resembles hail damage.Rust spot in front of left rear wheel well. I patched a small area with bondo a couple of years ago and repainted it but the rust is coming back through. The undercarriage has some typical rust for a car of this age that has been operated in the northeast its entire life.Original wheels are stained but function fine.Top of leather steering wheel is slightly tacky from normal wear.Driver’s side armrest is faded. Some stains on the leather on the second row seats.Windshield: This is important, so please read. The side trim pieces on Land Cruiser windshields are held in place with rivets which go through the A pillars. I was not aware of this when I had the windshield replaced by Safelite. The technician from Safelite did not replace the rivets. Thus, the rivet holes sometimes allow water to enter the A pillars and the water ultimately leaks onto the floorboards which makes the carpet wet. My carpet gets wet perhaps once or twice per year on the front driver’s side. It does not happen every time it rains. I do not see any evidence of rust around the A pillar or windshield frame. I also do not see any evidence of rust on the floorboards. Since the windshield is now cracked, I would suggest calling your dealer to find out whom they use to replace windshields on Land Cruisers. Not every company knows how to do it. You should also replace the roof drip molding on both sides, as they tend to get bent (which one of mine is) when the new windshield is replaced. These run about $120 per side. I have priced the truck at $9,000, which takes into consideration the fact that you might want to fix the issues noted above. The truck would be worth about $12k if these issues did not exist. I’m sure you will look at several other available vehicles, and those sellers may or may not point out certain flaws in their vehicles to you. I suggest you visit www.IH8Mud.com to learn more about Land Cruisers. You may also want to check out this link which is also very helpful http://www.sleeoffroad.com/newbie/newbieUZJ100.htm . Both have been very good resources for me. I have been as upfront as possible regarding the condition of this truck. It has been well cared for and is in great shape for its age, but it is 15 years old so it does have some issues as I pointed out above, and it may have some other issues with which I am not presently aware. Thus, you are buying the truck in as-is condition with no expressed or implied warranty. If you have any questions or would like any specific photos, please email me and I will do my best to respond to your request as soon as possible. I can make myself available for inspections or test drives, and I will be happy to work with your shipping company if you intend to have it shipped to you.The truck is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction early if a qualifying bid is not received.

2014 Collectible Toyota FJ Cruiser last production Model with a lot of modification include Classic 1976 Toyota FJ 4 Wheels Drive front & back badges, Heavy duty roof rack; TRD-16" Wheels and Tires(Off Road), LED head lights and 4 extra LED Off-Road beam,Wrap Roof with Silver Color replaced the original White Only factory color. Total $13150 upgrades with receipt. Serious buyer can contact 214.507.8198 for more information. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a retro style, mid-size SUV with styling and off road performance reminiscent of the original Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ40). Introduced as a concept car at the January 2003 North American International Auto Show, the FJ Cruiser was approved for production after positive consumer response and debuted at the January 2005 North American International Auto Show in final production form. The FJ Cruiser is built by Toyota subsidiary Hino Motors in Hamura, Japan since 2006 and shares many structural underpinnings from the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. On 5 November 2013, Toyota USA announced the 2014 model year Trail Teams edition would be called the "Ultimate Edition" and that the 2014 model year would be the last for the FJ Cruiser in that market. It will however continue to be made for sale in other markets such as Australia and the Middle East. Model OverviewThe 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser comes in a single trim level, with choice between rear-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive. Rear-wheel-drive versions come only with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while 4-wheel-drive versions can be equipped with that automatic or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The FJ's 4.0L V6, the only engine available, makes 260 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, with the dual independent variable valve timing allowing strong low-rev torque for off-roading exploits. Manual-transmission versions with 4-wheel drive get a system that distributes 60 percent of power to the rear wheels under most conditions but can be locked to a 50/50 split. With the automatic transmission there's a separate part-time 4-wheel drive system--allowing better gas mileage when you're commuting or driving on the highway in clear conditions. Both versions include a separate low range for low-speed rock crawling, and manual FJ Cruisers get a locking rear differential, which is optional on automatic FJs. Rear-wheel-drive versions receive a limited-slip rear differential, with the included electronic stability and traction control, to assure the surest footing possible. The FJ Cruiser is a true truck, with tough body-on-frame construction and a boxed steel ladder-braced frame. A 4-link coil-spring rear suspension with solid axle and a double-wishbone front suspension, together 4-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic power rack-and-pinion steering altogether provide maneuverability and relatively responsive handling on the road, combined with some of the strongest off-road ability in a stock SUV.Altogether, the FJ with its standard tires has 9.6 inches of ground clearance plus approach (34 degrees) and departure (31 degrees) angles. Towing capacity is rated up to 4,700 pounds. The FJ Cruiser doesn't completely forgo comfort. With an 8-way-adjustable driver's seat, most will be able to get comfortable in front and have a good view out. In back, a 60/40-split rear seatback with removable bottom cushions can be folded to a nearly flat cargo floor. In the cargo area there are lots of cargo-net hooks, bag hooks and cargo tie-down points. Standard features on the FJ Cruiser include air conditioning, power windows, locks and mirrors, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, a rear defogger and a 6-speaker sound system with USB port, iPod interface and Bluetooth streaming audio. The special Trail Teams Edition, available on 4-wheel drive FJs, adds various equipment that is of use to off-roaders, including Bilstein off-road shocks, TRD alloy wheels, a rear differential lock in combination with the A-TRAC traction system, additional skid plates, rock rails, illuminated side-marker lamps, an AC outlet and a backup camera monitor, as well as TRD aluminum doorsill scuff plates and an aluminum shift knob. From the outside, the model is easy to pick out from the crowd, thanks to its new 'Heritage Blue' paint scheme, with black bumpers and blacked-out grille and door handles. The Toyota FJ Cruiser, with styling cues reminiscent of Toyota's famed FJ40 4x4 utility vehicle, blends off-road legacy with modern power, comfort, safety, and convenience technology. The FJ Cruiser is available in one trim with a choice of three drivetrains: a rear-wheel-drive version equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission, a part-time four-wheel-drive version with a five-speed automatic transmission, or a full-time four-wheel-drive version with a six-speed manual transmission. All versions are powered by a 259 hp 4.0-liter V-6 engine. The FJ Cruiser seats up to five passengers. Safety features include Toyota's STAR Safety System that includes vehicle stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. Dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain and front-seat side airbags, and front active headrests are standard. The FJ Cruiser is a carryover from 2013. Source: Model Reviews Introduction If you want one of these you had better hurry because they are being discontinued. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is the most capable of all Toyotas when the pavement gives way to gravel, sand and rocks. That's saying something, given the capabilities of the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Tacoma. All of these Toyotas are among the best in their respective classes for travel over rugged terrain. The FJ Cruiser seats five. The front doors are front-hinged. Rear-hinged rear side doors provide access to the back seat. Main access to the cargo area is through a door hinged on the driver's side of the vehicle instead of a typical roof-hinged hatch-style closure. Having the hinge on the driver's side makes curbside loading and unloading easier. Retro styling gives the FJ Cruiser presence. Designed in California, the FJ Cruiser recalls the Toyota FJ40, known in North America as the original Land Cruiser. The FJ Cruiser will not be mistaken for anything else. Short overhangs aid capability for traversing ditches and other terrain that challenges ground clearance. The rugged, minimalist interior is easy to clean. No leather here, rugged fabric is designed to resist dirt and water. An Off-Road package further enhances the FJ's capabilities with trail-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers and a rear differential lock that works in conjunction with Toyota's A-TRAC off-road traction control system. With this setup, the FJ Cruiser can hang with the Jeep Wrangler crowd. Toyota's 4.0-liter V6 engine makes 260 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. It has dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which means variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust. We found the FJ Cruiser superb in rugged terrain yet comfortable on the road. Its V6 engine delivers more than ample power and torque for any foreseeable situation. Fuel economy for the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser is an EPA-estimated 17/21 mpg City/Highway for a 4WD automatic, 15/19 mpg for a 4WD with 6-speed manual gearbox, and 17/22 mpg for a 2WD automatic. The full-time 44 with the manual transmission offers the best capability in rugged terrain. The 2014 model year brings only minor changes to the content of some option packages; and a new color, Cement, replacing Cavalry Blue. We don't expect any significant changes to the FJ Cruiser anytime soon. Source: New Car Test Drive Walkaround The Toyota FJ Cruiser is the rebirth of the original Toyota FJ40, known in North America as the original Land Cruiser. It was a rugged, go-anywhere vehicle, a sport utility vehicle decades before the genre had a name. The FJ Cruiser was designed in Southern California. The design evokes the heritage of the FJ40 and other early Land Cruisers without being retro. This is no simple cloning of a nearly half-century old design. Instead, what Toyota wanted to do was to project how the original Jeep-like FJ would have evolved had it remained in production all these years. The engineering and manufacturing of the Toyota FJ Cruiser are done in Japan. Early FJs and Land Cruisers were patterned on the World War II Jeep. Rugged and reliable, Toyota FJs and Land Cruisers became the vehicles of choice for explorers, ranchers, missionaries, United Nations peacekeepers, merchants or anyone else who needed to drive through places such as Australia's Outback, Africa's plains, across Asian steppes, through South American jungles or anywhere else where roads were virtually nonexistent, with trails as harsh and challenging as the natural environment. Exterior styling cues from the original FJ brought forward on the FJ Cruiser include a narrow slot of a second grille built into the front lip of the hood, the trio of windshield wipers at the base of an upright windshield, the round headlights and the metallic-colored enclosure that frames them and the main grille (with Toyota in simple gothic letters, instead of the interlocking oval emblem that adorns the face of other modern Toyotas), the white roof, the wraparound rear windows and the spare tire mounted on the back of the vehicle. The FJ Cruiser shares much of its under structure with the Toyota 4Runner four-door SUV and Tacoma pickup truck, but you'd never guess that to look at the FJ with its wide, turtle-shell body design. Short front and rear overhangs allow serious off-road maneuvering. The 44 versions offer 9.6 inches of ground clearance, with optional underbody armor to provide extra protection against rocks and other obstacles met on unpaved trails. Viewed in profile, the most noticeable aspects of the FJ Cruiser are its upright windshield, tall and protective body sides, short windows and very wide C-pillar on either side of the cargo area. Though it may look like a two-door, the FJ Cruiser actually has four doors, with the rear side doors opening rearward to create a good-sized opening for access to the back seat and cargo area. The rear door also opens wide, and features a backlight glass that can be flipped up when the door itself is closed. The FJ Cruiser features an interesting color palate. You can order the authentically drab Army Green, a desert-warrior dun called Quicksand, or a peachy orange called Magma, in addition to basic Black and Iceberg White. New for 2104 is Cement, a suitably industrial gray inherited from last year's Trail Teams Special Edition. The paint color covers only the hood, fenders, body sides, C-pillars and rear door. In homage to the old FJ40s, all FJ Cruisers (except the monochromatic Trail Teams model) have white roofs, helping keep the cabin cool under a blazing sun. Source: New Car Test Drive Driving Impression Powering the FJ Cruiser is Toyota's 4.0-liter V6 engine, well-proven in the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra. In the FJ Cruiser it develops 260 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, the sort of grunt that comes in handy when traveling off-road or when towing. The FJ Cruiser is rated to tow as much as 4700 pounds. It would work fine for ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft. Though the 4Runner is rated to tow only 300 pounds more on paper, for a variety of reasons we would consider it a much better tow vehicle. The Toyota V6 not only is strong, but clean and fuel-efficient as well. It earns the FJ Cruiser a LEV-II (low-emission vehicle) rating from the federal government. Fuel economy is an EPA-estimated 17/21 mpg City/Highway for a 4WD automatic, 15/19 mpg for a 4WD with 6-speed manual gearbox, and 17/22 mpg for a 2WD automatic. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is quite capable off road, even more so than the highly capable 4Runner on which it is based. The FJ offers better approach and departure angles and a shorter wheelbase, with the same generous ground clearance. Of the three drivetrains available, those primarily interested in the unique design statement made by the FJ Cruiser will likely opt for the two-wheel-drive setup. This is not the setup we would choose. Those planning to do serious off-road driving will want the full-time 44 with the manual transmission, which features a clutchless starting feature that can come in handy for rock-crawling maneuvers. With the manual transmission, the drivetrain is a full-time four-wheel-drive setup with H4, H4L (locked Torsen center differential) and L4L (low and locked) settings. The H4 mode usually sends 60 percent of power to the rear wheels, but can send as much as 53 percent of power to the front wheels or 70 percent to the rear wheels as needed. An electronically locking rear differential is standard with the manual transmission and available with the automatic, even in the two-wheel-drive version. With the manual transmission, the FJ Cruiser has an off-road crawl ratio of 41.84:1 and has proven itself capable of traversing California's rugged and world-famous Rubicon Trail. Those looking for an automatic likely will select the part-time 44 with its automatic transmission. It's a good choice regardless of road and weather conditions. It's also a good choice for rugged terrain and is available with Toyota's A-TRAC off-road technology. It's our choice, unless we were planning to do organized off-road adventures. With the automatic transmission, the four-wheel-drive system offers shift-on-the-fly selection with H2 (2WD High range), H4 (4WD High range) or L4 (4WD Low range) settings for the torque-splitting transfer case. The Upgrade Packages include Toyota's computer-controlled A-TRAC, for Active-TRACtion. This system, which also makes steering easier in rugged terrain, can be turned on or off via a switch on the dashboard control panel. In severe off-road situations, drivers may need to engage the locking rear differential, but we found the A-TRAC system ideal for negotiating a series of serious and deep moguls in steep terrain when we did our off-road test drive. The Vehicle Stability Control system works with the roll sensor to try to stop lateral skids before they can lead to a rollover. Failing that, the sensor deploys both the side-impact and side-curtain airbags. VSC comes standard on all models. Toyota anticipates that many FJ Cruiser owners will want to explore away from pavement, but most miles will be racked up on city streets and suburban highways, where we found the FJ Cruiser to be comfortable, even when we sat in the back seat. One thing we did notice, however, was that the big roof rack that's available as an accessory can create a lot of wind noise at Interstate speeds. This is true with all safari-style roof racks, something many Land Rover owners know. We still think lots of people will want one, however, if for no other reason than it looks so cool. We'd order one for ours and put up with the wind noise. Source: New Car Test Drive Interior Like the exterior, the interior of the Toyota FJ Cruiser reflects the character of the early FJ40s, especially when equipped with the optional body-colored door panel inserts. The standard dashboard looks like an extruded aluminum beam, with audio and climate controls set into a body-colored panel in the center. If you want leather seats, you don't want an FJ Cruiser, which comes only with water-resistant cloth upholstery and rubberized floor and cargo mats. The expectation is that people who drive FJ Cruisers will get them dirty, and want the easy cleanup provided by such materials. The seats have active headrests. In certain rear collisions, a cable-actuated mechanism in the headrest moves it upward and forward to help limit the movement of the occupant's head, potentially reducing whiplash injuries. Folding rear headrests help with rearward visibility. Switches for various mechanical systems are set in a panel just ahead of the shift lever. Not only are they conveniently placed, but there are dummy switches to ease installation of aftermarket equipment such as auxiliary lighting or locking axles for extreme off-road use. The driver faces white-faced gauges that are easy to read (speedometer, tachometer, engine temperature, voltage and fuel level). In addition to the regular glove box ahead of the front passenger seat, there's a smaller covered storage box on top of the instrument panel in front of the driver. This area can be fitted with an accessory Garmin Quest 2 navigation unit that can be removed from the vehicle for hiking or other activities. Cup holders are provided in the center console and all four doors. A 12-volt outlet is mounted on the switch panel ahead of the shifter; and a three-prong, grounded 115-volt power outlet in the cargo area with a switch for either 100 or 400 watts of output (the higher figure available when the vehicle is at idle). The rear seatback splits 60/40 to optimize cargo carrying options. The rear-seat cushion tips forward and can be removed to provide a few more inches of cargo area behind the front seats. Rear-hinged rear side doors give easy access to the back seat and cargo area, helped by front seatbacks that fold forward. Perhaps appropriately, the front seatback folds a little further forward on the right (curb) side. The standard audio system includes a CD player and iPod and MP3 capability as well as two ceiling-mounted speakers designed to enhance the sound experience within the FJ Cruiser. The Upgrade Package increases the speaker count from six to eleven and includes a pair of 2.6-inch speakers mounted on the rear pillars. Because the FJ Cruiser has wide C-pillars that may interfere with the driver's rearward vision, a rearview camera is included in the Convenience Package, to warn the driver of the proximity of objects when the transmission is in Reverse. The Upgrade Package adds rear parking sonar. We had no trouble parking the FJ in urban settings on our test drive, nor did we have to move into strange positions to see stoplights through the upright windshield. Source: New Car Test Drive Summary The 2104 FJ Cruiser is Toyota's most capable sport utility vehicle when it comes to getting where you want to go when there's no pavement beneath your tires. Not everyone will appreciate its heritage, whether in the iconic design cues brought forward in a thoroughly modern vehicle or in the way this vehicle lives up to the Land Cruiser's much deserved reputation for getting across deserts, up mountains and through swamps and jungles on continents around the globe. But for those whose lifestyles include exploring, whether it's sandy beaches, mountain trails, secluded lakes, busy ski hills or even the urban jungle, the FJ Cruiser provides Toyota quality at a competitive price and wrapped in a unique design, inside and out. NewCarTestDrive.com correspondent Larry Edsall filed this report after driving the FJ Cruiser in the hills west of Los Angeles and in the desert around Palm Springs, California. It has 13k well cared for miles, and every option Toyota offered on its top of the line Trail Team Limited Edition model is included (only 2500 world wide according to Toyota) This is a fully optioned / genuine Trail Team, not a repaint of a standard Army green / silver bumper offering. In addition,  both front and rear adjustable tow hitches are properly bolted to the frame, with the rear hitch featuring both 4 wire and 7 wire outlets, thru the frame wired with front engine bay circuit breakers. The rear hitch is universal height, and twin ball, and the front hitch is a combination ball and pintail hitch. A fully adjustable electric brake controller is dashboard mounted and wired. Twin front and rear 400 watt x 110 volt electric outlets are pre wired to a inverter system. The rear seats are canvas covered from new, and a new Sunbrella outdoor care cover is included. The 2011 is considered by most FJ owners to be the best looking Trail Team color package, and this well cared for ( waxed 7 times, oil changed prior to schedule) is sure to appreciate and provide years or reliable on / off road fun. FJs are no longer being made, and this is a collector Model This FJ is factory original, lightly used, and part of a large collection of well maintained automobiles. By the time the production of the original FJ40 ended in 1984 Toyota had shifted towards increasing the size and luxury of the Land Cruiser line. The idea of a new FJ with rugged capabilities of the FJ40 originated in the mid 1990s with Toyota Product Planner Dave Danzer and then Vice President of Sales and Operations Yoshi Inaba. Danzer worked secretly with Akio Toyoda to set up a special shop at the NUMMI plant to test the feasibility of a new FJ40 by combining Tacoma underpinnings with the bodies of Toyota Bandeirante, an FJ40 based vehicle still in production in Brazil (as a diesel model only) at the time. Akio Toyoda returned to Japan to join the board of directors giving high level support to the project. Toyota's flagship design studio Calty was then brought on to deliver a fresh interpretation of the FJ40. Calty hired veteran Chrysler automotive designer Bill Chergosky to lead the development of an offroad vehicle known internally as Rugged Youth Utility (RYU) aimed at attracting young male buyers, a segment Toyota felt they were losing touch with at the time. Many takes on the RYU concept were created including the 2001 Rugged Sports Coupe concept before a retro style design created by 24-year-old designer Jin Won Kim was chosen as the final exterior concept with Chergosky designing the interior. The FJ Cruiser concept debuted at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show in Voodoo Blue, a color that would become the Signature color for the production FJ Cruiser. The bold styling was an immediate hit with the automotive press and general public despite competing with more exotic concepts like the Cadillac Sixteen and Dodge Tomahawk. By resurrecting design traits from the iconic FJ40, the FJ Cruiser was viewed as a new "Halo Car" for Toyota much like the similarly retro styled 2005 Mustang had done for Ford. In the summer of 2004, Toyota began extensive off road evaluations of the FJ platform by driving development mules on many of the most difficult trails in North America including Moab, Utah, the Angeles National Forest, the Mojave Desert, and the famed Rubicon Trail. Despite each one off mule costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, the development team was determined to push the capabilities of the prototypes in order to deliver reliable off road performance in the production model. Changes to the A-TRAC traction control system and suspension tuning came as a direct result of the prototype testing. The exterior of the FJ concept remained largely unchanged when the final production model debuted at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. However, Chief production engineer Akio Nishimura had to significantly alter the amenities offered in Chergosky's interior concept to keep the price of the production FJ Cruiser reasonable. Unique interior touches like the gear shifter that doubled as a shovel handle, removable interior lights which doubled as flashlights, and flat folding front seats were removed though several concept items remained as factory options. TRD Special Edition For North America, in 2007 Toyota Racing Development (TRD) produced 3,200 units as the limited production TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser. This model was released with not only the body painted in a Black Diamond Pearl color, but also with a matching black roof to set itself apart from its standard, white-roofed counterparts. The TRD Special Edition model includes things such as the TRD cat-back exhaust system, TRD Bilstein off-road tuned shocks, rock rails, 16-inch alloy gun-metal gray finished TRD wheels with BFGoodrich All-terrain tires, and TRD badges. The TRD Special Edition also includes mechanical changes to synchronize the locking differential with the active traction control (resulting in the rear differential no longer overriding the active traction). Early production 2006 FJ Cruisers had an issue that caused the rear differential to override the active traction control, except in the TRD Special Edition FJ Cruisers. However, by November of 2006, Toyota changed production to incorporate synchronization of the locking differential with active traction control on all FJ Cruisers. In 2009, subsequent to Toyota releasing the Trail Teams Special Edition FJ Cruiser for the production year of 2008, Toyota created the TRD Package. This package was available on FJ Cruisers with the Iceberg White monotone exterior color scheme, similar to the 2008 Trail Teams Special Editions, except without the addition of blacked out trim pieces. Even though this package was known as the TRD Package, it doesn't include the same or as many features as the TRD Special Edition. Some of the features with this package were the TRD alloy wheels in a silver finish with the BFGoodrich All-terrain tires, as well as a TRD logos/graphics on the exterior for decoration. Also, the TRD Package was only offered on units with 2-wheel drive for the 2008 model year and 2009 model year. Since 2011, Toyota still offers the TRD Package on the Iceberg White FJ Cruisers but has opened the package availability to both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive models. Another note to mention is in 2009, only 2400 units were produced with the TRD Package. Trail Teams Special Edition Beginning with the 2008 model year, Toyota manufactured 3,200 units of specially equipped FJ Cruisers designated as the Trail Teams Special Edition, which featured many of the same TRD options included on the TRD Special Edition, including the same 16 inch alloy wheels (but in a black finish as opposed to the gun-metal grey finish of the TRD model). The Trail Teams Special Edition was also equipped with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, as well as TRD/Trail Teams Bilstein shocks, and other similar options found on the TRD model. The number of Trail Teams Special Edition FJ Cruisers produced per year are as follows: 3,200 units for 2008 (as stated above); 1,500 for 2010; 2,500 in 2011; 2,500 in 2012; 2,500 in 2013; and 2,500 in 2014. No Trail Teams models were produced in 2009. However, Toyota released a TRD Package for that model year and it was used on the same Iceberg White painted FJ Cruisers that were used for the 2008 Trail Teams Special Edition, (for more information, see the TRD Special Edition section.) Over the years, small incremental changes have been made to the Trail Teams Special Edition FJ Cruisers, such as changing the TRD alloy wheels to beadlock style TRD wheels on later years, and the availability of Toyota's CRAWL control feature as part of the Trail Teams package (2013 and 2014 automatic transmission only). The CRAWL control had been previously used on other 4-wheel drive vehicles from Toyota and Lexus to enhance off-road capabilities. Each year, the Trail Teams Special Edition is painted in one distinct color and is the only FJ variant (besides the TRD Special Edition units) offered in a monotone color scheme, rather than the traditional two-tone FJ Cruiser with the standard white painted roof (excluding standard production FJ Cruisers with the "Iceberg White" body). The Trail Teamsvariants are also the only FJ models to have body trim pieces blacked out from the factory including the mirrors, door handles, bumper caps, etc. Special design details also carry over to the interior such as color matched fabric inserts on the seats for specific years and special Trail Teams badges. For Sale: 1975 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Last Summer (July 2013) I put a lot of money and time in this Cruiser, I had a Cruiser Specialty shop in Everett do most of the work. It runs great and is really fun to drive. I just don't use it as much as I hoped to. When I brought the car in they replaced every gasket on the engine, replaced the hoses and belts and Spark Plugs. The carb was rebuilt and tuned up. New Motor mounts as well as a new exhaust from the engine to the tailpipe. They removed the Fuel tank and cleaned it out. Replacing the fuel pump and filter with a newer more reliable electric Holley pump. The Sender also got replaced and a new reliable gauge mounted on the dash. I didnt want to leave any suspension piece un touched. So I had them replace all of the bushings and tie rods. At the same time we replaced the Leaf Springs and Shocks with a lift kit. I had them install a FJ60 Power Steering box so it was easier to drive. The Front and Rear Differentials were also rebuilt. New Axle Bearings and Seals, Rebuilt breaks a 4 new tires. The truck rides really nice and smooth. It Starts easy and the blue paint looks awesome. I had the Front fenders repainted because they had a lot of rock chips over the years. At the same time I had a little rust repaired on the Hard top. Can't even tell it was there. The original Seats were very uncomfortable, they installed modern and comfortable BMW Bucket seats up front. Then recovered the rear seats to match the leather. I powder coated the frames also. Up front I put in Shoulder harnesses. As you can see I wanted to restore the running gear so it would be reliable and safe. I have 13k in receipts I can provide upon request. All of this was done in July of last year (2013). I only drove the car a few hundred miles afterwards. The car currently has 82,300 miles I own the car outright with no liens or loans. I also have the Title in Hand! The car is in Seattle Wa, If you are in the area and want to see it im available almost anytime. I can send you any detailed picture you want, just message me. Shipping is very easy, I have does it a few times and can help you out. If you are close you can always pick it up in person. Most Cruisers on Ebay look good but don't have the detailed receipts for service / restoration. A lot get neglected, You can feel confident that this car will get you where you want to go and back. -Mike 425 301 1147 My Cell
