2000 Honda Insight Cars for sale
1-15 of 115
Santa Maria, California
2000 Honda Insight 50-60+ MPG !!! Car is perfect for a commuter car or just around town. It's been a great little car. We wanted to upgrade to a newer Insight and do not need this one anymore. Runs Great! All the services have been done at the Honda Dealership. Has a clean air certificate, so you can drive in the Diamond lane. It's had a transmission rebuild about a year and a half ago. Recently we had a new tensioner pulley and serpentine belt installed. The car has new paint in a light silver color. There is good tread on the tires -they are at about 50%. It has a dent in the rear bumper that has been there since we bought it. The check engine light is on because it needs a new catalytic convertor, and it won't pass California smog until the light is off. These cars are built to last and can easily see 300K-400K miles.

This is a nice 2000 Insight with a clean title. It is a nice car that gets great gas mileage because of the design of the car. It is made of high strength aluminum, has the preferred 5 speed transmission and weighs only 2200 pounds. That is 1000 pounds less than the Toyota Prius. It has a newly replaced IMA hybrid battery at the Honda Dealer on August 28th 2013 at 169,253 miles. It is the rarest color that Honda used for the 1st Gen Insight and is called "Citrus". Many Insight collectors say this color will be the only Insight that will actually be collectable in the very near future. I have not detailed it so it is dusty in the photos. Overall I'd give the paint a 9 out of 10. There are no blemishes beyond normal wear. The interior is stain free and it is clean. The tires are the recommended Bridgestone Potenza's, in good condition at 80% tread I'd say and the wheels are in good shape. The a/c blows cold and the heater works. Everything operates as it should. The IMA battery charges as it should and the autostop works perfectly because it is virtually brand new. My car comes with a cargo net for the back area and also the zipper bag Honda made available on certain models. It shifts as it should with no downshift grind. All VIN stickers are where they should be, even on the back bumper cover. This is an important question to ask other sellers. If you are paying top dollar for a 1st Gen Insight you need an accident free Insight which this is. If it is missing vin stickers you should ask why before buying. These cars last well into the 400,000 miles mark and will also go up in value because they are rare finds. Honda built very few of these cars world wide. Even Jay Leno, an avid car collector, says the 1st Generation Insight will soon be collectors items. They cost $30,000 to build. Honda still services them also. This model of Honda Insight is still to this day the absolute king of mpg of all hybrids. Sure you can buy an all electric Chevy Volt or even a Tesla but do you really want to spend $45,000 to $70,000 on a car that has a charge rate of just 5 miles per hour? Talk about limitations. I see these poor electric car owners waiting in line just so they can grab a quick 15 minute charge at one of 2 or maybe 3 charging stations at the local mall, so they are not stuck and need to walk home. I guess this is just part of electric car ownership. For basically the price of a used Ford Focus you buy my car and get 55+ miles per gallon or more depending on how you drive. You can literally drive for 600 miles without stopping for gas in my car. Where I live that is a trip to Las Vegas and back on 1 tank of fuel! The 1st Gen Insight was introduced into the US a full 7 months before the Toyota Prius so was the very 1st Hybrid on the market. Even today in 2016 no Prius or other hybrid car can beat my car's mpg. Here is the proof (add a 'w' to each before copy and pasting) ww.motherearthnews.com/green-transportation/miles-per-gallon-cars-zb0z11zblon.aspx and a neat insight video ww.youtube.com/watch?v=9WYypHmERtw Please remember my car is the rarest color of all Insight models sold in the US so that is why my final price is will be more than other Insights in more common colors. You can drive all month without seeing another Insight on the road. You might drive an entire year or more before seeing a Citrus Insight. They are really that rare. Only 200 were ever made out of 17,000 total worldwide. Of this number some have said fewer than 100 might still be "alive" in the world and of this number fewer than 50 might be in the US but this is pure speculation. Lastly, I am a small car dealer here in Orange, California. This means you are protected in your purchase because I am licensed and bonded. I specialize in these Insights. If you buy this and live in California you will also need to add salestax. I pay all other fees. You pay sales tax even with a private party sale but you pay it at the dmv so it does not feel like an extra fee, just expensive registration. But I collect this sad to say, not the dmv. In fact I complete all dmv paperwork for free if you want. If you prefer to do it that is fine also. If you live out of state you do not need to pay me sales tax. I am also just taking a guess at my price. There is an identical car that sold a few months ago for $12,500 but with less miles so I know these are finally hitting the "collectable price". But if you are buying it for your daily driver I understand if you do not agree with my price so let me know what you think is more fair and we can work something out. Honestly I'd rather keep it and sell my silver or one of my red 5 speeds but for now I will try to sell this one. I can also pick you up at the airport if you buy it and live out of state. You can then have an easy and inexpensive drive home. Choose John Wayne Santa Ana if you want to fly here. If you want to have it shipped I can take it to the shipper for you. If you need me to store the Insight for you I an do this for up to 1 month free. Send me a message and we can work this part out . Regarding cruise control, no Insights have this as Japanese makers felt the drives would not be long enough to install it. You can install one pretty easily for about $300. Here is how to do it ww.insightcentral.net/owners/mods/cruise1.htm ((put an extra w so you can click on it due to Ebay's rules about including sites, guess they think some people advertise or promote other stuff in their listing besides what they are selling)) Sorry this has to be said: This is a listing to buy my car. If you win the auction you are legally obligated under Ebay's rules to pay for it. If you need a bank loan, need to ask your wife or husband or pastor or mom or check with your psychic advisor,,, please have these issues resolved before you bid, not after. If you win the auction you just bought the car. This is why a deposit is required. It really is that simple. I have done a full 7 day auction so you have plenty of time to ask questions. Please let me know if there is anything I can help answer for you. I love these cars and drive one daily.

I purchased a 2000 Honda Insight with 39,299 original miles from a Southern California City. The city registered it on 12/19/2000 with 20 miles on the odometer. They had possession, and their mechanics maintained it until I purchased it a short while ago. Air conditioning and Keyless Entry are but two of the many extras included in this well- equipped 5-Speed sport auto. All systems are operational. This Insight is original and in very good mechanical condition. The Owner’s Manual (all 250 pages of it) is in the glove-box. The spare tire is in its rear compartment. The lug wrench is still in bubble wrap inside its vinyl pouch, and another larger vinyl pouch encloses the unused jack. There is a small bump in left rear corner plastic underbumper just rear of the wheel skirt. (Refer to pics #2 & #3.) On January 9, 2016, with 39,413 miles on the odometer, I had Hybrid Revolt install a New High Current 8-Amp Hour IMA Battery in the Insight. The new battery has a 1-year transferable warranty. However, the warranty may be extended for an additional two years for just $100 per year anytime during the first year. The new owner may contact Hybrid Revolt and request the optional two-year extended warranty be added (for a total three years and $200). A battery harness that is required when adding a grid charger was also installed. Four Potenza RE92 tires with high-tread are on the Insight. On the driver-side door-jam is noted “color R-510”. The city had put its logos on the Insight doors and rear quarter panels. They were removed before being sold, and are barely noticeable. The paint on the small 39 inch by 32 inch top of the Insight has faded, somewhat. The remainder of the paint looks good. I ran a history report with “Auto Check” on January 7, 2016. It is a very complete check, but short due to the fact that in the “Detailed Vehicle History” section there are only three events noted on it (instead of ten or fifteen on higher-mileage and/or multi-owner vehicles). I WILL ONLY SELL THIS INSIGHT DURING A PERSON TO PERSON TRANSACTION. NO "BUY IT NOW". If you are in or going to be in the Los Angeles area stop by and look it over, then drive it. Contact the owner for directions. Thank you.
Keep you original insight operable for years! New Hybrid Motor Battery installed only 3K mi. prior to engine seizure due to faulty temp sensor. Unavailable at lower cost in the spare parts market. All parts in good/working condition except for engine and radiator. Perfect spare parts bonanza for anyone on Oahu who wants to keep running their original 2000 Honda Insight which has the best hybrid motor gas mileage of any Honda up to the present. You will need to pay towing or towing/shipping from Matson, Horizon or Young Brothers.
A hybrid car dealer I bought this car at auction in 2010, it was super clean and a one owner car, the IMA battery was dead from sitting in a garage for several months, Bedard Honda in Cheshire MA installed a new Factory Honda IMA battery under warranty that was in 2010 with 65,000 miles. Car sold to a local woman who had car serviced with seller, service records available. The local woman traded the car back in to Seller on a Prius. I bought the car and have been driving it since couple of months ago. Vehicle Runs and drives great, 2 new Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tires in the spring. Recent front and rear brakes using Honda parts. has some scrapes and dents and dings from normal use. No major accidents but minor fender bender that required left front headlamp replacement using factory Honda Headlamp the bumper and fender received some scratches but did not require replacement. Has Pioneer Premier radio could use some new speakers. This car can drive to your place any distance. Air conditioner works,Check engine light on and off occasionally, with a code P1165 for the air/fuel ratio sensor. Honda : Insight Standard 2000 honda insight manual trans silver runs awesome many repairs new head gasket
This 2000 Honda Insight is running great and it has had several recent repairs and upgrades that should keep it running strong for many years. Here's the history: I bought this car on November 2010 from the original owner. She had all repairs for the car done at the dealership and gave me a fat folder of all the receipts, which I still have. The IMA hybrid battery had been replaced by Honda a year earlier, in November 2009. The spark plugs, tires, front brake pads and rotors had also just been replaced when I bought the car. I gave the car to my daughter who drove it while she was in college. She had one incident with the car that you should know about: in the summer of 2012 while she was in Washington DC for an internship she had a minor accident that damaged the right front of the car. The repairs for that accident were done by Japanese Auto Clinic in Arlington Virginia. They did a fine job and I still have the receipts for their work. In January of 2013 the car started showing symptoms of a blown head gasket, so I replaced the head gasket and had the cylinder head resurfaced. All other gaskets and seals on the top half of the engine were replaced at the same time, and I had the machine shop check the valves and they confirmed that they were fine and needed nothing. After the cylinder head repair the car ran great until the fall of 2014 when the right front axle shaft developed some play. I didn't have any time to do the repair until the following spring so for a period of 5 months or so I canceled the registration and insurance on the car and just kept it in the garage. (I did run the car at least once a week to keep the engine and IMA battery healthy.) I finally got time to replace the axle shaft this August, so I renewed the registration then and have been driving the car for the past 2 months with no problems at all. Other repairs and new parts besides those mentioned above include: new driver's door latch; new Kenwood radio/CD player and 4 matching Kenwood speakers (includes the speakers behind the seats); K&N air filter; new Exide 12 volt batter 4 months ago; the leaky seat belt problem that afflicts nearly all Insights was fixed with new clips from Honda and I also put black window putty in the roof rain channels to keep water out; oil and filter just changed and regular oil changes have always been done with full synthetic oil; red seat covers added; tires just rotated; manual transmission fluid just changed when I did the axle shaft, and changed a year before that also; I have new front brake rotors and ceramic brake pads that I was going to install but then I realized that the current brakes are just fine so you can have these brake pads to install later or if you want I'll be happy to install the parts now after you buy the car; also included is a Genesis One grid charger programmed for this car, and the grid charger harness is installed so you can use it right away. The "Bernie" sticker on the rear bumper covers a 2 inch cut in the plastic bumper. Of course you can replace this sticker with whatever suits your own politics. :) Most of the driver's side was just repainted to cover some scratches that occurred when my son brushed the driveway wall. The paint I used is a very good match (from scratchwizard.com) so it's hard to tell that those panels were repainted. All splash shields are in place under the engine. No check engine light or IMA light. The car runs great and the IMA battery charges completely. Cold and strong A/C and good heat. The clutch is fine. The manual transmission shifts smoothly and cleanly with no grinding or any other problems. Clean title, ready to drive away. This car will serve you well for many more years to come. Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer for you. Thanks

Here is a California 2000 Honda Insight with 34,210 actual miles for sale. I purchased it from a city in the Los Angeles area. The city registered it on 12/08/2000 with 83 miles on the odometer. The title was issued to the city on 12/20/2000. They owned and maintained it until I purchased it. All systems are operational (the Auto Idle Stop took me awhile to get confidence in it, the engine really does self-start). The Insight is in very good mechanical condition and, completely original. The Owners Manual (all 250 pages of it) is in the glove compartment. The spare tire has never been used; the lug wrench is still in bubble wrap inside its vinyl pouch, and another, larger vinyl pouch encloses the unused jack. The silver paint is original and still has the wet, shiny look over most of the Insight. The paint on the middle of the hood is a little dull looking along with the small sized roof of the car. The city logos that were on the sides of the vehicle having been removed. When I found out that the Insight might be sold I looked into that possibility. It was said that the city had more than one hybrid in the last 15 years. The IMA batteries were conditioned every five years. After a few more inquiries about the Insight at different locations, I ran an Auto-Check on it. I purchased the Insight. The car is a pleasure to drive (no IMA light). It is very nimble and quick. The occasional 60 to 70 mpg on the indicator looked good. There is only one insurmountable problem for me. The 5-speed manual trans! Due to the fact that I’m 83 years young and haven' t driven a car with a manual transmission in years, especially in traffic, my left leg and knee limited the driving time in traffic to about 30 minutes. The ACCESS OK Stickers are on it (freeway pass). This Insight is very clean, inside and out. The license plates are valid until October, 2017. The Insight is in the Santa Ana, CA area. I would rather you view the Insight in person before purchasing it. If you are in the area, or are going to be in the area soon to be able to inspect it, let me know and I will provide you with the exact Santa Ana location. No texting, please. Inquiring by email or phone is OK. Thanks, Jack

2000 Honda Insight 5 Speed MT. 89,400 miles. I decided to have the car repainted due to some fading of paint on the hood and top of car. Wanted this car to be one of the best available. It will be difficult to find a better citrus in the country. No accidents ever. Clean Carfax. No expense spared. Lifetime miles per gallon: 55.2MPG The Citrus colored Insight is the rarest of all the Insight colors since it was only produced in the year 2000. It is the rarest and most sought after color. 5 Speed Transmission works perfectly as it should for a car with these low miles. No noises and no grinding of gears during downshifts. NONE. IMA battery is STRONG. Freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Nothing but the best for this car. The grid charger/discharger is from hybridautomotive.com and I believe is appx $400 without the installation charge. Of course the harness is installed and you should grid charge all insights on an as needed basis (appx every 2-4 weeks). Interior- above average. I removed the seats and door panels, washed and cleaned the seat covers and door panels thoroughly outside the car and reinstalled. The carpets were freshly shampooed. The photos of the seats did not turn out well in the pics. Almost look dirty. They are beautiful and are NOT dirty. Exterior- excellent.. Freshly painted. No dings/dents/chips in the paint. Very very nice. I own a lot of these cars and the exterior is in excellent condition and has to be one of the nicest citrus colored insights in the nation. I had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. All underneath body panels intact and even the body panels were cleaned and polished (my friends thought I was nuts doing this). Engine compartment-above average. Had this professionally detailed. Mechanics-above average. No check engine lights, tranny purrs as it should for low miles, motor fires right up and sounds great. Should last easily for another 200,000 mi. Oil and Filter - just changed. Ready to go. This car goes into lean burn easy and I frequently get more than 70+ MPG when I want to. Normally, I'm in a rush, and get 60-65 MPG. This car is great for fuel economy. A friend of mine in Las Vegas just recently achieved over 100 MPG on a tank of gas (10 gal tank 1000+ mi). In temperatures of 95-100+ degrees he would drive with the windows up, no a/c of course and get huge mpg. But he's a little nuts...and so am I. Just shows you what can be achieved with these cars. Great cars if you drive a lot or if you are just frugal. I'm neither. I just like the look of the car and want to be as gas independent as I can without getting too nuts. Car also goes into auto-stop easily which is where the engine shuts off when idling and starts instantaneously when you step on the gas. This helps your mpg greatly and some Insights don't lean burn easily or go into auto-stop. You guys buying these cars with bad tranny's and IMA's will be faced with possible repairs of $4k or more. This car is done. Tranny purrs. Strong IMA. Engine has ZERO leaks. Get in, drive and give me a positive feedback. Money was no issue in making this the best that it can be. No corners cut. Gas tank-on full of course. No issues. PERIOD. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this car. I'm appx 20 miles NW of Indianapolis, IN and you can fly in to IND (Indianapolis, IN airport) and I'll meet you at the airport and you can drive home. Anywhere including Timbucktoo. This car is ready to go. I am not a dealer but a retired enthusiast that has a ton of these cars that I enjoy working on. I'm not going to sell a car and then have you give me a negative for whatever reason as I have many more to go. But as of now just this one for sale. No sight seers of "InsightWorld" as I'm too busy enjoying what I do. Here to sell a great car for a great price. Where else can you get a car that can go 70 MPG's and has NO problems with a great battery and tranny with a grid charger and low miles and a rare color for under $8k? I am selling this "as is" with no warranties expressed or implied. With that said if there is a problem, let me know about it. I have thousands of positive comments and NEVER had a positive comment and not going to start now. I want both of us happy. Located 20 mi NW of Indianapolis, IN. I have spent 3 solid weeks working on getting this car ready. My last Insight I sold in 2 days to the first guy that saw it. This car is one of the nicest low mile citrus Insights on the planet. You will be very happy with this car. All I ask is you complete this transaction on a timely basis (one week). and if you don't buy this one, try to find a nicer citrus in the country with low mi for $8k. I'm taking appx a $5000 loss on this car but I make money with my investments, not on Insights. This hobby has been an absolute joy that I wouldn't trade for anything. Clear title on hand. Call if any questions: Gerald 3 1 7 four four one 3 2 3 1. Thanks PS Apologize about the indoor photos taken in my garage. It was raining today when photos were taken.

2000 Honda Insight 5 Speed MT. 191,000 miles. Tranny just rebuilt. No expense spared. Lifetime miles per gallon: 56.8MPG 5 Speed Transmission was professionally restored by world renown Insight mechanic Scott Kulbeck, Covina, CA just last month. Scott has worked on this car and has driven this car. We have fixed any and all issues. Scott, who happens to be my best friend, is the best in the world at working on these cars and for those of you out west....he's the one and only mechanic to see. Well worth the drive. He's liked by all (including his wife!) and works very hard at maintaining his stellar reputation. This car runs perfectly and should last for another 200,000 mi. IMA battery is STRONG. Freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Picture included of grid charging. Note: pic may say 167 Volts. That was during a grid charge and was charged to 172 Volts. Interior- above average. I removed the seats and door panels, washed and cleaned the seat covers and door panels thoroughly outside the car and reinstalled. The carpets were freshly shampooed. Exterior- slightly above average. I own a lot of these cars and the exterior is in above average condition compared to my others. There are the various scrapes, dings (2 on hood) and a couple cracks in the left fender that was professionally bonded. There are also a couple small areas of missing clear coat on the hood (possible bird droppings left on the car previously?). No major dents and car is visually really nice looking from 5 feet. Had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. All underneath body panels intact (see photos) and even the body panels were cleaned and polished (my friends thought I was nuts doing this). Engine compartment-above average. Had this professionally detailed. Mechanics-above average. No check engine lights, tranny purrs as it should for just being rebuilt, motor fires right up and sounds great. Should last easily for another 200,000 mi. Fluids - all fluids changed and ready to go. This car goes into lean burn easy and I frequently get more than 70+ MPG when I want to. Normally, I'm in a rush, and get 60-65 MPG. This car is great for fuel economy, HAS NO A/C, which is a weight savings and you never use a/c if you want max fuel economy. That is why many of these cars don't have a/c. It simply is not used and I don't miss it. Honda : Insight Base Hatchback 3-Door 2000 honda insight green california car all vin stickers rust free excellent
I purchase 9-24-13 from original owner Linda out of California where car had been it's whole life. It has never been smoked in or modified. Radio and floor mats are original. Has complete jack and owners manuals etc. Vin stickers are present on all panels. All covers intact on underside. No corrosion or rust anywhere even on factory exhaust or small attachment hardware. I never drove it here in Ky if salt had been used. All functions work. I have never had a issue with battery. I bought a grid charger that comes with car which I use every 2nd week plugging into reg house outlet. That cost 500.00. I also this year just put correct tires that cost 500.00. I'm selling because I live 3 miles from work and have 6 kids. ( 4 adopted from China ). This insight average lifetime is 54 which I read cannot be reset. Original owner drove highway. I get 44 city without even trying and don't drive alot of highway but when I did drive to the Auburn cord museum 5 hours away it got 54.8 in the rain 85 mph and that's no joke. Car was serviced at Honda by original owner and I have all receipts from oil changes I have done. I use 15.00 bosch oil filter and synthetic 0w20 which is correct. I also just put on 50.00 bosch wiper blades. Only negatives on car is roof is a little faded and some light clear coat peel on roof edge drivers side. Some grinding on down shift from to 2nd and 1st. It was like this the day I got it which I researched as a very commom problem. I pause before going into 2nd and 1st on downshift and no grinding is present so I never worried about it. I can be reached at cell 8592707324 or home 8592707324 and can say I would sell this car to my mother if she wasn't 65. I know cars and that being said have had fender skirts and wheels off inspecting brakes and front end frame etc. this car is well sorted out and ready to go. A Calif. car on East coast which cost me 800.00 to get out here but well worth it not having to deal with corrosion on studs and brake hardware. Gene
