Special touches include the custom front valence with Lucas fog lights, interior upgrades, special badging, and a sunroof. The restoration is concours-grade, with better-than-new fit and finish to the bodywork and panels that fit so exactly it must have taken hours to get it right. The interior got a lot of upgrades, too, including special gold Cougar badges, a wood shift knob, leather-trimmed door pulls, and a console with special switches for both the fog lamps and sunroof. Like the exterior, the interior has been restored to compete at the highest levels, so materials, patterns, and workmanship are exacting, and though this one has been driven a bit, it doesn%26ETH;%26iquest;%26Ntilde;-%26ETH;...t show. The original dashboard was refinished, the gauges rebuilt, and even the Rally clock and AM radio are fully functional. The trunk features a correct mat and full-sized spare tire, which might be the only inaccurate component on the entire car. Power comes from the original, numbers-matching 302 cubic inch V8 topped by a 4-barrel carburetor. Highly detailed, it wears all the proper hardware, plus reproduction tags and decals, and the restoration team carefully documented the car prior to disassembly so all the factory markings could be replicated. The big A/C compressor dominates the engine bay, and the torquey V8 is the ideal choice for the Cougar: smooth, but with a bit of a snarl.
