The paint is good but the primer is showing through in a few places from the number of times it has been polished. Interior seats and door panels have been re-upholstered back to the original condition. The accessories this Ford came with are the deluxe radio in dash electric clock chrome wheel trim rings and hub caps white wall tires and dual exhaust. Turn signals have been added. The car is in excellant running condition and has been well maintained. . The Ford car was thoroughly updated in 1941 in preparation for a time of unpredictability surrounding World War II. The 1941 design would continue in an aborted 1942 model year and would be restarted in 1946 and produced until the more modern 1949 Fords were ready. . The two previous Ford car lines standard and De Luxe had blossomed into three Special De Luxe and Super De Luxe. This time the entry-level 136 CID (2.2 L) V8 was deleted in favor of a new 226 CID (3.7 L) L-head straight-6 the first Ford six since the failed 1906 Model K. The popular 221 CID (3.6 L) V8 remained as the top-line engine and was standard in De Luxe models. Both engines were rated at 90 hp. The 239 CID engine introduced in 1939 for Mercury and Trucks was continued in the Mercury Models. The chassis was longer with a 114 in (2896 mm) wheelbase.. The "ignition key" for these cars was actually used to operate a bolt lock which on one end unlocked the steering column (a feature destined to return mandated decades later) and on the other end unblocked the ignition switch allowing it to be operated. Starting the car was then accomplished by pressing a pushbutton on the dashboard another feature destined to return with the advent of "smart keys." . Although starting cranks had been replaced by electric starters for decades Ford cars included a manual starting feature until 1948 as an antidote to dead-battery syndrome. The wheel-lug wrench served as a handle (also for the jack) and the jack shaft with bayonet-coupling pins could be inserted through a small hole in the grille to engage a bayonet socket on the forward end of the engine crankshaft. A quick-and-easy twist of the handle was sufficient to start the flat head V8 and the bayonet coupling was self- . The 1947 Ford line was similar to the short 1946. Visual differences included the removal of the red accents from the grill and the two small lights located just above it. Ford began titling 1947s in February 1947. For the first few weeks the 1947 model was identical to the 1946. Ford then restyled the body slightly first by moving the parking lights from above the grill to below each headlight. Exterior moldings were changed from grooved to a smooth design. A new hood ornament with a blue plastic insert was installed. New hubcap design became available in March. Interior dash color was changed from red accent to gold. By September the roof mounted antenna was moved to the cowl. Horns were moved to in front of the radiator from the engine compartment. The final 1947 models were titled in November.

Wow this Jet black and very rare 1947 Ford 5 window business coupe is drop dead gorgeous. Its paint looks a mile deep laid out perfectly over a laser straight and rust free body. Its extremely solid original foundation is sprayed in its correct red oxide primer. The chrome on this neat coupe is either new or looks like new. Its black old school vinyl interior is in excellent shape as well. The only thing the car really could use is a new dual exhaust system other than that this car runs and drives great and is ready to bring home a trophy at your next classic car show! It is still powered by a very nice running and detailed Flat head V8 engine and backed up by a smooth shifting 4 speed manual transmission. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>

Flathead Fords are still some of the most entertaining old cars you can own. Quick, agile, handsome, and rugged, cars like this 1947 Ford Super Deluxe coupe have been favorites for decades because they do everything well and look great doing it. Restored by someone who cared about making things right, this lovely Dove Gray coupe looks like it just rolled out of an old black and white photograph from the late-40s. The basic profile is pretty much the same opera coupe that Ford was building before the war, but the wide, smooth front end gives it a clean, grown-up look is one of Ford\'s better designs. Paint and bodywork were restored to a very high level and the light gray paint job looks appropriate on the old Ford\'s graceful curves. Instead of metallic two-stage urethane, it has a softer shine that looks like period enamel more than modern paint, another sign that the guys who restored it cared about making it right. Panel fit is excellent, the big pointed hood fits well, and the light color reveals neat details like the body lines around the fender trim and the oval rear window. Lots of stainless trim and a few chrome bits, all of which has been restored and sparkles brightly against the light gray paint. There\'s a surprising amount of room in the fully restored interior. Gray cloth upholstery has a very 1940s look and the patterns are simple and unpretentious. Matching door panels, carpets, and headliner give it a correct look and all the garnish moldings have been painted to match the body. The instrument panel has a large, round speedometer and four smaller auxiliary gauges, all with a jaunty \'40s font, and there\'s a matching clock in front of the passenger. Radios were still expensive options in 1947, but this one does carry an under-dash heater/defroster unit that should be quite effective. The steering wheel was restored in contrasting gray, which isn\'t exactly correct but looks great, and the chrome center grille where the radio would be housed shines up brightly. The trunk is positively massive, with cardboard side panels and a matching full-sized spare tire on a color-matched wheel. But the real reason these cars are perennial favorites is the 239 cubic inch flathead V8 under the hood. It\'s rated at just 100 horsepower, but it feels like much more than that out on the road. Inhaling through the stock 2-barrel carburetor and oil bath air cleaner, it has a distinctive sound that Ford fans have loved for years. Twin coolant hoses from the cylinder heads give it a nice, symmetrical look and later flatheads like this finally had their distributors moved to the top of the engine where they were easier to service. The generator up top has been upgraded to 12 volts, so the old flathead hard starting problems are eliminated, but otherwise it\'s quite stock. The 3-speed manual transmission with column-mounted shifter has well-chosen ratios to make the most of the V8s power band and the original banjo-style rear end hangs out back. The undercarriage is clean and neatly detailed and it\'s always nice to see an old car riding on correct bias-ply tires for the right look. Very affordably priced, this 1947 Ford is one of those great old cars that will make you smile every time you fire it up. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
