Custom 1973 Austin Mini for sale. Aside from the driver and passenger door frames, the entire rest of the car is fibreglass (body, trunk lid, one-piece front end, wheel arches etc.). One-piece welded steel chassis/roll cage. All running gear out of a 1985 Mazda B2000 RWD pickup truck (rear axle is out of a Hyundai Pony). Odometer shows 272,771 km, but the engine was rebuilt approximately 30,000 km ago. Rear seats are gone to accommodate RWD setup. Runs and drives great. Only issue is rear axle is currently leaking. Two unopened NOS axle seals are included in sale. Taller drivers will want to swap out current seats for a lower profile bucket seat (I am 6'1" and can just manage). I feel the chassis/fibreglass body alone are worth the asking price. The fact that it runs/drives is a bonus. Plenty of options to swap in a better performing engine/drivetrain. I bought this car five years ago in Miami form a collector — he was selling it for a German. I drove it back to Kentucky but blew a head in Tennessee, so I had to have the engine completely rebuilt (about $6,000). Shortly afterwards I was rear-ended at a stoplight, so I had to have the back repainted. Apart from that (!) the car has never had a single problem, although I've only put a few thousand miles on it. I have a classic Triumph motorbike, so I had the Mini's bonnet stripes painted to match it (black hood with white stripes and very, very subtle gold pinstriping — it's stunning to see). I also had rally lights professionally installed on the front grille. The car runs beautifully and I've used it as a daily driver during nice weather. As mentioned, I had no hesitation driving it over 1,000 miles from Miami to Louisville (the engine blew because a hose came loose). The interior is fine, but it could be redone. It's got a walnut dashboard that has a crack in it, and the original oatmeal carpet, which doesn't fit very well. There's no rust anywhere on the car or inside / underneath it. It runs like a scalded dog and shifts wonderfully. My mechanic is highly respected in classic car and racing circles, and he's more than happy to vouch for its integrity.

I found this Mini online from a collector North of London, UK. He owned about 40 cars, all covered and in heated garage. He told me that this car had not been in the rain for 17 years. The car resembles a regular Mini but from the windshield forward it is an up-dated design for the youth market of the time. It is for purposes a "Mini Cooper S" with the same 1275 engine & manual 4 speed trans. The design is like the Riley Elf and was not shipped out of the UK, so it's rare. There is no rust at all. The engine bay was sprayed with undercoating to keep it from rust, and might have been done when new. I was told the car was re-sprayed the original color of Citron Yellow throughout. I had the car trucked from the owner near London to the port of Felixstoe, then put into a 40' container and shipped to the port in Los Angeles. It was then trucked through customs and brought to my home in Murrieta, CA on Hwy.15 one hour north of San Diego. There are another set of Minilites and some bits the owner through in (2 Manuals). The car is it's original RHD but can easily converted to LHD as I was told. I am selling due to health and my 83 year old Mom won't get in it. It has been driven once in our community and the engine is strong. I just need to sell it was $14,750..now asking $10,000 firm.
