This vehicle drives like new, and gets great gas mileage! I prefer when my customers come, see, test drive and inspect the car before making a final decision. Many people are not familiar with the Salvage or Rebuilt title, below is a brief explanation of the "Salvage verses Rebuilt Title" terminology: Salvage title means that the insurance company decided not to fix the car and paid off the owner. By declaring a car "Total Loss”, the Insurance Company is taking themselves out of any liability issues in the future. Does that mean the car is totaled, not always. Sometimes the car has minor damage but the parts are very expensive. Sometimes the owner does not want to get the vehicle repaired and depending on the Insurance Company and the year of the car, Insurance will pay off the owner. If the car gets stolen then Insurance has thirty days to recover the vehicle, if the car is not recovered in thirty days, Insurance pays off the owner and once the car is recovered, it is brought to the auction as a Total Loss vehicle even if it did not have any damage on it. We have bought 'Total Loss" cars from Insurance companies with door dings, extremely minor fender bender, theft recovered vehicles with absolutely no damage. In brief Total Loss does not always mean that the car was in a bad wreck or had extensive damage. We do not buy or sell anything with major damage. Now for Rebuilt title, once the repairs are completed, car is inspected by state for all repairs and a Rebuilt Title is issued, which means that the new owner will not have to get any inspection done to get the car back on the road. It saves a lot of trouble for buyers as they don’t have to get the car inspected or fill out any extra paper work as is the case with Salvage title. With rebuilt title, buyer can simply walk into the DMV and get the car registered without any repair documents or inspection work. Attention: this car has Michigan salvage rebuilt title. This car passed Michigan salvage highway patrol inspection. There will be no issues with transferring the title or getting a license plate in any state in the US. You won't have to pass any inspections in your state, everything is done in Michigan! The title is ready to be transferred to customers name in any state in the US. Please see buyer notes below.This listing is for a 1999 Volkswagen Passat with the V6. The car has most of the options available including power windows, locks and sunroof. It also has the 6 CD changer (I guess someone still uses those right?), automatic trans, tilt etc. The car runs and drives very well and is comfortable going down the road. The maintenance is up to date. This is a 1999 and it's not perfect but it's great transportation and fun with the V6. Here's the good stuff and the niggles: Good stuff The usual VW front end issues have all been taken care of. New ball joints and an alignment has been done. The tires are newer Michelins with only a few thousand miles on them. They're about a year old. Recent oil and filter change No worries on the timing belt. Took care of that including the full kit that includes the water pump and thermostat (This is usually about an $800 maintenance job). No leaks Great heat....will need that soon. :-/ Interior has been fully detailed. Clean overall No rust NigglesThe front passenger power lock and window doesn't work (lock works manually)Cruise control inopPaint chip on front left edge of hoodRear seat has a couple of pokes in it, fronts have seat coversCup holder decorative trim loose Holler with any questions you might have. Many people are not familiar with the Salvage or Rebuilt title, below is a brief explanation of the "Salvage verses Rebuilt Title" terminology: Salvage title means that the insurance company decided not to fix the car and paid off the owner. By declaring a car "Total Loss”, the Insurance Company is taking themselves out of any liability issues in the future. Does that mean the car is totaled, not always. Sometimes the car has minor damage but the parts are very expensive. Sometimes the owner does not want to get the vehicle repaired and depending on the Insurance Company and the year of the car, Insurance will pay off the owner. The vehicle previously sustained fresh water damage. It appears that the previous owner drove through standing water which in turn was sucked into the intake stalling the engine. We found that one of the engine rods was bent. We replaced the rod with one that we purchased new from the local Volkswagen dealer. We did not have to remove the drive train for the rod replacement. After making the engine repairs the vehicle started right up with out any issues. The interior of the vehicle was completely dry. This Passat now runs and drives excellent in its current condition with no issues found in the engine, transmission, suspension, cooling and/or electrical. Their are two key, all four floor mats and the owners manual with this vehicle. The tires are like new with and have the same amount of miles on them that the vehicle does. This is probably the best car I ever had in terms of reliability and performance. It is my second Passat, which I liked just as much. No trouble, great pick-up, good gas mileage. Always garage kept, serviced at a reputable shop that specializes in repairing European cars. It has been in no accidents, but experienced minor damage to the rear bumper due to a parking lot mishap, which was repaired. Two of the tires are about a year old, the others are approximately 6 months old. The timing belt and water pump were replaced this year, not as a necessity but as a preventative measure.
