This is a solid 1981 VW Rabbit Convertible auto trans with 78k original miles. It runs and drives well, but I have not driven it much this year.The top is in great shape. The interior is quite nice for the year as well, but could use a good cleaning. The exterior looks good, but it has had a paint job and some body work that wasn't the greatest in the past (like an Earl Scheib job). The lights, turn signals, radio, heater all work well. The tires are good but three of the four will lose air over time (several weeks). The car has been in storage over the winter but it will start and drive right now. Hello! Up for sale is my ex-daily driver. It has been loyal and undying for the entire time I have owned it. (About a year and a half). I bought it from a dealership in Indiana at a price of $10,095 and about 63,000 miles. I have since put about 10,000 miles on it. I have a full set of winter tires as well. There is no rust, and there are no dents in the body. This is a automatic transmission. If you know much about this year of vehicle from Ford, you know that these transmissions where under a heavy recall. I have taken the transmission to be inspected about every 6 months to see if I am eligible for the recall yet, no luck. The problem is a slipping clutch it is not consistent but according to what I have been told by legal paperwork and the Ford dealership I got it serviced at, once its "bad enough" by Ford corporate standards it will be replaced at no cost. I personally have found the transmisson pretty good but honestly It can get annoying occasionally when the problem flairs up. Other than that, everything in this car works great. I would keep using it as a daily but I just recently bought a Manual Subaru Outback that I enjoy driving a lot more than the automatic in the Ford! I have priced it right at the KBB value! When I bought the vehicle I sprayed the undercarriage with rust-oleum with less than 50 miles on the vehicle. I am the only one to have driven this vehicle. There is NO rust. NO door dings.
