Up for sale is possible the best performing, highest quality, closest to like new TR6 on the market for under $20k! The Triumph received a no expense spared in time and money and is a fully restored, Mimosa Yellow / Black, 1974 Triumph TR-6 that was garaged kept since new and has no rust. This is not your typical Triumph TR6, restored to 40+ year old specifications. A lot of resources have been invested to improving the TR for what we are all looking for, driving quickly and safely on modern roads with reliable and in comfort. This is a car that you will enjoy sharing it with others that can appreciate fully functional, cosmically pleasing, Antique Automotive Sculpture. This Triumph has been groomed to level one show car status, with a sharp eye on performance, correctness, cleanliness, reliability, modern drivability, attention to detail and the perfection of material finishes. If you are looking for an all original low mileage car, thinking it a better investment, then this car is not this car is not for you! I am a firm believer in knowing what you’re buying, not just letting the photos do all the talking. Below is a very detailed description of this performance inspired TR6 show car. The first phase of the TR's restoration was completed in 2004 to 2005, by its previous enthusiast owner. At that time the car was proudly given a zero mile odometer to commemorate the car's robust, all systems new restoration and has traveled 3200 miles since. Over the last year the car went through a Phase II restoration where I took what was already spectacular and above average show car and began to transform it cosmetically and visually to a higher level, with many refinements, updates and enhancements. All the parts on the car are ether new, rebuilt or restored to very high standards of quality. When I acquire the car it had very nice 10 year old, single stage yellow paint job, but it did not meet my standards. So on 10-20-2015 it received a very expensive and beautifully executed show quality, PPG, base coat, clear coat, paint job, performed by the Action Collision Center in Little Elm, TX. The high quality paint job is flawless, providing a mirror like reflections at every angle. The car was completely disassembled for paint. The doors, hood and trunk were prepped and painted separately. All the lights, mirrors, trim; grill and bumpers were also removed in the prepping process to produce this incredible high quality paint finish that was a applied in their million dollar paint both that resembled a hospital operating room. The paints surface quality also extends to the door jams, trunk, engine compartment and underside of the car. All the cars surfaces are extremely clean and free of dirt, dust and grime. I just installed a pair of new TR-6 Union Jack stickers on the rear. I also added a new pair of small, high quality enamel Union Jacks and new metal Leyland emblems on the front lower fenders. I also have a reproduction, 1974 emissions engine sticker that goes on the driver’s side, outer wheel well, that needs to be installed. I also have a set of like new Plexiglas wind deflector wings, that clip to the windshield pillars, not seen in the ad's photos that come with the car. The Triumphs drivetrain is all numbers matching, original to the car and was totally rebuilt and has just a little under 3,200 miles since completion and has a nice show quality appearance with all new and restored parts. The transmission shifts flawlessly, giving you perfect shifts every time and has a new clutch, new presser plate, new throw out bearing, new clutch master cylinder and new clutch slave cylinder. The engine has a very nice K&N type air cleaners and polished aluminum finned valve cover. The heads were shaved and a mild performance cam added. It also has a modern spin off oil filter conversion that uses the most common Chevy filter available. The cars smog ridden, Zenith carburetors / smog pump, were removed and replaced with a rebuilt pre-emissions SU HS6 carburetors with larger jets, which are more efferent and reliable than the originals. The TR-6 is also running the Protronixs, electronic ignition system, hidden in the original distributor. It has a recent coil, water pump, hoses, fan belt and strong starter. I just replaced the spark plugs wires, spark plugs, cap and rotor. The car received a new Performance Free-Flow Duel Exhaust System by Monza with beautiful chrome tips that have an intoxicating, range of baritone sounds. I just changed the oil and filter and the car has no oil Leaks (For a Triumph, this may seem like a false statement, but it true!), 65+ pounds of oil presser. The 2.5 liter six cylinder engine starts easily, the temperature stays below normal even on the hottest days. The cars stock radiator was recently cleaned, has no scale, fresh new green radiator fluid. This Six Pack has 135 horsepower vs. stock 106HP. It has a wonderful staccato sound at idle and will pull hard all the way to redline and will easily catch 2 gear scratches. The TR6 IRS system is the special ingredient that makes the car handle like it is on rails. The IRS system was gone through and has new axels and axels boot protectors. The suspension sports all new bushings front and rear, new Suplex heavy duty front springs and new Suplex heavy duty rear trailing arm springs, new front Spax shocks and new rear Koni shocks. This TR also has new front rotors, new brake master cylinder, new front and rear brake slave cylinders, new brake pads and new brake lines on all 4 wheels. The TR6 has a good jack, small tool kit, nice unused Goodyear Red Line spare tire and new Bridgestone 205-65-15 Petenza directional performance tires on new Mini-Lite 8 spoke aluminum wheels. The cars steering, suspension shocks, brakes, all feels great and perform well in all conditions, like fast corners and extreme and highway speeds. When driving briskly you get very positive feedback to the steering wheel. The car has no clucks, squeaks or rattles or unwanted vibrations. The parking brake works with authority, front disk brakes stop the car fast and straight with good control in emergency braking until controlled lockup. The interior is like new and nicer than any I have seen in the market. It just received a special custom made, Burled Ash dash panel that was stained to match the cars yellow paint. The car’s interior is well insulated; it has Dyno-Mat on the floor, tunnel and firewall, with new factory type insulation on top. The TR-6's wood, leather, vinyl, cloth, carpet, chrome, steel, aluminum, glass, plastic, rubber and painted finishes are all near flawless and look new. The interior dash pads are perfect with no cracks, nice black seats, new black door cards, new black cards behind the seats, new black carpet, recent black rubber floor mats, new Triumph logo trunk mat, new black convertible top, nice black half Tonneau cover, a new fire extinguisher mounted behind the passenger seat, not shown in the photos. All the cars electrical, gauges, lights, switches, heater fan, wipers, horn, turn signals, flashers are in good working order, it will pass a safety inspection. All the gauges were just cleaned inside and a new electronic solid state turn signal flasher was added that fixed the common problems that all TR6's have with their the turn signals. I just replaced the recently install fuel gauge sending unit in the tank with a new one, the float had filled with gas, but still works and is included in the box of spare parts. The head lights shine very bright with its new 55 AMP Bosch alternator and new Wal-Mart battery. The TR-6 has a nice sounding Pioneer AM/FM/CD sound system with remote and 6x9's in the rear in small boxes that can get loud and sound great. A separate modern fuse box was added to accommodate the sound system to take the load off the original fuse box and it has room for other electrical connections in the future. There are very few affordable British cars that give you the raw emotions, sites, sounds smells and performance that the TR6 emits and this one has it on steroids. This Triumph is a perfect car for club sponsored events like rallies, hill climes and autocrosses and can easily take the FTD. If you’re getting older, like myself and rode on bikes all your life, this is a great 4 wheel transition that your wife will approve of and may even ride with you. This TR6 is near flawless, very bright and flashy, it will win top honors at local car shows and gets attention where ever it goes. The car comes with two sets of keys, original owner’s manual, repair manual, some receipts and a box of spares, both new and used very clean high quality custom car cover. In honest discloser I need to mention the minor flaws: 1. The Mimosa Yellow color is one of the most popular original TR6 colors, but the door tag indicates the car was originally painted red from the factory, The paint job was done properly and shows no evidence of the color change. 2. The chrome bumpers had their rubber over riders removed, otherwise are in good driver quality condition, but should be re-chromed to bring them to show quality. 3. The passenger seat has a small 1/8 inch long puncture in the vinyl, that was repaired and can only detected, if pointed out from a very close distance. 4. There is a scratch on the driver’s door glass and a new glass is included with the car but not installed. 5. One of the dust cover boots on the rack and pinion has a split and was repaired. A new set of boots is included but not installed. I am working on a few of the areas listed above and may have them corrected by time of purchase. The above details represent a very accurate and honest description of this unique Triumph. This TR6 can be driven anywhere in the United States reliably .To replicate this car, expect to pay way more than the asking price for just the parts and a year in full time labor. I am not a dealer and the car has a clean Texas title in in my name. I am asking $19,995 or OBO. You can call me any time at 972-207-1115 or email me through eBay. Compare the rest, but if you’re looking for the best this is the one! Buyer is responsible for transportation arrangements and licensing. Non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction closing and balance in seven days. COSMETICALLY AND MECHANICALLY THE CAR IS SOUND. ALL GAUGES ,SWITCHES AND LIGHTS WORK , BRAKES ARE A LITTLE SPONGY BUT DO STOP. NO OVER HEATING ISSUES , DOES LEAK A LITTLE DROP OF OIL LIKE MOST THESE OLD BRITISH CARS ! THE PAINT ON THE HOOD HAS SOME BUBBLE AREAS , NOT RUST JUST WHERE THE CONDERSATION HAS GOT TO IT UNDER A COVER OR THE ENGINE OVER HEATED AT SOME POINT. THE CARPET AND INTERIOR ARE IN GOOD SHAPE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A TEAR IN THE DRIVERS SEAT.THERE IS A SQUEKY SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT COULD BE THE BUSHINGS. THE DRIVERS FLOOR PAN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THERE IS A RUST SPOT ON THE RIGHT REAR FRAME ARM. IT ALSO HAS RUST ON THE LIP OF THE TRUNK ALTHOUGH IT LOOKS LIKE BOND AND PAINT HAS BEEN APPLIED AT SOME TIME. THE CAR DRIVES AND SHIFTS THROUGH THE GEARS WITH NO GRINDING OR NOISES. NEW BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER , NEW CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER , NEW MUFFLER , NEWER TIRES , NEWER TOP ALTHOUGH DOES HAVE ONE SMALL RIP EITHER SIDE WHERE IT HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN DOWN CORRECTLY. I DO HAVE THE CAR FOR SALE LOCALLY AND HAVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION AT ANY TIME. PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ZERO FEEDBACK PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST. OVERALL SHE LOOKS NICE BUT JUST WILL NEED THE RUST ISSUES ADDRESSED TO MAKE IT A VERY NICE CAR. I WILL TRY AND GET SOME MORE PICTURES POSTED SOON. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL JOHN AT 832-335-1832 THANK YOU.

1975 Triumph TR-6 with 6,979 Original Miles - Collector Owned, None Better This beautiful 1975 Triumph TR-6 is part of a 60+ car private collection in Austin, Texas. I acquired this TR-6 in December of 2013 from the original owner in Enid, Oklahoma where the car had been carefully stored away since 1984. It was, and is, an absolute time-capsule and a rare opportunity to own a near-new, seventies British roadster. The car was purchased by its original owner in April of 1975 from Fretwells, the authorized Triumph dealer in Oklahoma City, OK. Highly optioned with overdrive, air conditioning, and a hardtop, the car was sold new for $6,550. The original owner, who was in his thirties at the time, purchased the car as a "summer fun" car for he and his wife and the car was used sparingly for leisure activities over the next decade. 10 years later, after one final summer of fun, the car was parked in their garage, gently covered, and would not see the light of day again for almost 30 years when the owner, now in his seventies, would finally sell the car to me. The car still wears its last plates and final inspection sticker issued on 6/30/84 documenting the mileage at the time of inspection at 5,784 original miles. Incredibly, owing to the intense summer heat in their part of the country, the original owners preferred to drive the car using the AC with the factory hardtop and when I received the car the dealer-installed hardtop had never been off the car. We had the unique pleasure of removing the hardtop for the first time and uncovering the brand new soft top underneath which had never been raised. If you're a car guy, it just doesn't get much better than that. I believe this car to be one of the finest, if not the finest, TR-6's in the world. The combination of outstanding color, low-mileage, rare options, extensive documentation and exceptional original condition make this car an instant contender at any preservation class concours in the country. If you've been waiting for the best, I urge you to come see this car. You may never see another one as good as this. Further information is provided below. Mechanicals:When the car arrived at my facility in Austin in hadn't been driven in decades. We were told by a representative of the original owner that the car may have been started 10 years earlier but we had not documentation to support that and the car looked to have been sound asleep for every one of the last thirty years. We immediately understood that the value of the car was in its originality and we took our time doing our research and coming up with a plan to bring the car back to life. While we wanted the car to be safe (and fun) we also wanted to preserve as many original parts as possible to maintain the history of this once-in-a-lifetime car. We began by inspecting the engine and transmission. While pretty to look at (how often do you you get to see a 40 year old motor in its original state like this?) we had no idea what was happening inside and the car had been stored for decades with fuel in the tank and coolant in the radiator. The initial good news was that the motor turned easily by hand so we took our time lubricating the cylinders for several weeks while we manually turned (and turned and turned) the engine. We then turned our attention to the fuel, ignition, and cooling systems. The fuel tank was removed, drained, and cleaned before the inside was re-coated and sealed. When we had the tank out we noticed the fuel level float had perished so it was replaced. After a full inspection front to back, we also replaced the fuel lines, fuel pump and fuel filter. Turning our attention to the cooling system we pulled and flushed the radiator and replaced the thermostat and the water pump. A new set of hoses was purchased but a close inspection of the original green hoses showed them to be in excellent original condition and we only ended up replacing the lower radiator hose. Next came the ignition system which benefited from a new set of spark plugs, distributor cap, points, rotor and condenser. Finally, the fluids were changed, a new Bosch battery was installed, and it was the moment of truth. We turned the key and instantly, without so much as the slightest hesitation, the engine jumped to life and settled into a beautiful idle as if it hadn't been asleep for even a day let alone thirty years. Over the next weeks we performed a full mechanical inspection of the car resulting in our also replacing the brake master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, clutch master and slave cylinders, overdrive solenoid, and the tie rod end dust boots. The end result is a car that is an absolute joy to drive. It starts easily, every time, and the motor pulls hard and runs cool even in the 100 degree Texas heat. It idles perfectly, drives straight, and the transmission shifts smoothly requiring no unusual effort and moving smoothly into overdrive the moment you pull the lever. Everything in this car works. Everything. The gauges, the switches, the lights, the turn signals, the radio, even the seatbelt warning system is fully functional. This is truly as close to the experience of driving a brand new TR-6 as you're likely ever going to have. The tires on the car are the original tires delivered on the car in 1975 and appear to be in excellent condition although, if you plan on driving this car extensively, I'd recommend installing new tires and keeping these for show. In addition, we did not charge the AC system which is intact and has never been converted from its original R12. Exterior:From every angle, the car presents beautifully in its factory color of Mimosa Yellow. The paint on the car is 100% original and the car shows no signs of prior work or accident damage. There are no dents are scratches - not even a door ding - and the paint appears closer to 40 days old than 40 years. The glass, trim, chrome, emblems, lenses, decals and exterior hardware are all original, untouched, and beautiful. And, of course, the original soft top has seen use of, literally, zero miles. We did literally nothing to this car other than clean it up. The only flaw worth mentioning is an area behind the cockpit on each side of the fuel filler where the use of the factory hardtop has resulted in some wear to the paint in this area. It's a minor flaw, and one that is easily corrected, but we chose to preserve it as well-earned patina on a survivor car. We also replaced the rubber trim pieces at the top of each door along the window edge as the original rubber was hard and cracking. In my years of collecting classic cars, I have almost never seen a vehicle of this vintage in more pristine condition or one that presents closer to new. The cosmetics of this car will exceed your expectations. They certainly have mine. Interior:The interior of this TR-6 is a testament to what original, low-mileage cars should be. The dashtop is gorgeous - free of cracks and showing no warping. The wood dash front is pristine. The door panels are beautiful. The controls and various switches are spotless. The seats are outstanding. The gauges are clear and bright appearing as new. The carpet is near-perfect and the original rubber floor mats look like they were installed yesterday. I've taken the time to provide multiple, close-up photos of the interior from almost every angle. Please examine them closely and pay attention to the details. Yes, the big things like the dash, seats, and door panels all look excellent. But look even more closely at the small things. The interior details of this car are absolutely as good as I've ever seen. Documentation:The car will be delivered with extensive documentation supporting the provenance and mileage of this incredible vehicle. Supporting documentation includes: A copy of the original Oklahoma title for the vehicle. The original State of Oklahoma excise tax receipt dated 5/3/75 and showing a title assignment date of 4/28/75.The original 1,000 mile service receipt from Fretwells dated 6/23/75.Original state registrations for every year the vehicle was registered from 1975 through 1984.Original state of Oklahoma Inspection certificates from 1976, 1977, 1980, 1982 and 1984 each documenting the actual mileage at the time of inspection.Various insurance documents from the early eighties. The car will also be delivered with it's original manual, accessory catalog and both sets of original keys on their original Fretwells dealer keychains. I've included multiple high-resolution photos with this listing. This bright 1975 example is a very nicely preserved one owner, original car and runs every bit as good as it looks. Offering all the thrills of a 2-seat sports car, it's a fun, inexpensive way to get into the hobby or a great addition to a collection of any size. In case you missed, yes we said it was a one owner car. The car was actually purchased new right here in Fort Worth, TX! An evolution of the TR4/TR5 body, the TR6 still manages to have a unique look all its own, thanks to a redesigned grille and headlights, as well as a squared-off rear end that gave it an aggressive, almost muscle car appearance. It manages to look like a bigger car than it actually is, which is undoubtedly part of the reason for its sales success in the US. Shockingly, this car appears to be wearing 100% original paint save for the blacked-out tail panel, which was repainted more than 20 years ago. The body panels fit well and don't show any signs of the dreaded British tin worm and after a life in Texas, that shouldn't be a surprise. The bumpers are the later-style with the big rubber overriders, but they look right on the TR6 and the luggage rack almost makes it practical. In short, this is a car you will be proud to drive and show, and it's an absolute blast on the open road. This one also comes with a matching hardtop as well, a rare find for the TR6. Inside, there's no mistaking that the British crafted the black vinyl interior. Those are actually NOS seat covers, not reproductions, so they fit right and look exactly how the factory would have done it and brown is a nice contrast to the usual black or tan found in these cars. With a real wood dashboard full of original Smiths gauges, it definitely has an Old World feel, and the dash has been replaced so once again, you won't have to worry about deterioration due to age. The three-spoke steering wheel begs for a pair of string-back driving gloves and you'll find that the shifter is a delight to row through the gears. That may very well be the original top, as it carries the correct reflective strips, and the car includes a factory hardtop, too. Mechanically, it's powered by a burly 2.5-liter inline-six, which provides plenty of power for the featherweight car. Torque is impressive, especially down low, and it's obvious that the car was tuned with American enthusiasts in mind. It was rebuilt in the late 1980s, perhaps 30,000 miles ago, so it's still robust and ready to enjoy. Thanks to a pair of side-draft carburetors and a dual exhaust system, it makes wonderful roadster sounds, and you'll be downshifting just for the sheer joy of listening to the engine. The engine bay is tidy, but not restored, so you won't hesitate to hit the road on the next sunny summer day. A 4-speed manual transmission is the perfect dance partner, with a light clutch and a direct feel to the shifter. The all-independent suspension is surprisingly supple on the road, making this a car that will tour long distances easily and still entertain you on a curving mountain road. Adding to the car's aggressive appearance are original 15-inch wheels wearing correct redline tires. With great performance, wonderful character, and unique looks, this TR6 has all the right ingredients for a fun summer driver. Finished in a great color combination, this TR6 is an inexpensive way to have a lot of fun this summer.
