For sale is my beautiful 1964 Triumph TR4. One could spend countless hours admiring the beauty and jewel-like features of this little car – and I have. I have kept this car for over a year even though I do not fit in it because I so love to look at it. I am truly enraptured by its adorable beauty. I have come to the conclusion that this 6’3” 195 pound man with a 35” inseam is never going to be able to drive this car for more than 10 minutes with his knees smashed against the dashboard, and therefore I should part with it. I took it in trade on a muscle car – the kind of car suited for a bigger man like me. You will need to be under 6 foot and have feet smaller than a men’s size 13 to comfortably drive it…. I am NOT interested in trades. Again, NO TRADES. I know this will be asked…. Payment will be wire transfer or cash in person if picking up the same day – other methods must clear my bank to my satisfaction before anything happens. I can store the car for a few months if it is fully paid for and I may even let someone pay over a couple of months but TALK TO ME FIRST before you offer or bid so we don’t have a misunderstanding. First and foremost, this car is Toyota powered. It has a big 2.4 liter four cylinder out of a Celica backed by a Toyota 5-speed transmission. This is none other than the performance version of the 22R, widely regarded as Toyota’s most durable engine ever. This powertrain gives the car 50% more NET horsepower (135 versus 90) than original and a slick-shifting close ratio 5 speed transmission which really livens up the car and makes blasting down winding backroads and long jaunts on the highway much more enjoyable. In fact its hard to resist a little wheelspin here and there... It runs super smooth and it is rev happy (1500 RPM higher rev limit than original) with a sporting exhaust – delightful to hear - not loud and turbine smooth. No leaks or smoke or bad noises. The curb weight is 150 pounds less than original (Toyota is aluminum block and head versus iron for the original) so performance is improved in every way. It can get 30 MPG if driven lightly! The car drives extremely well, stops and steers as it should. A few rattles but not terrible for a 51 year old British car. The worst rattle being the drivers side window which has lost its "windlacing" or whatever the rubber is called between the window and the door itself. It has a wonderful go-cart feel and EVERYONE smiles when you drive by, even grouchy old ladies. The body is straight and rust free and has an absolutely gorgeous older high-end paint job on it. There are a few small paint flaws (scratches, tiny touch-ups) if you go looking for them, but it is absolutely gorgeous. The color, smoothness and gloss are PERFECT. One small ding in the top of the driver’s side front fender and another small flaw at the top of that same fender wheel lip are the only significant flaws in the body. Both look like they were caused by a leaning mechanic….. The car had been in Oregon since new so it is a true dry climate car and it looks very good underneath. It has a nice solid feel driving down the road. The car has ALWAYS been garaged, and currently resides in my Big Red Barn with many other vintage cars and hot rods. The trim and chrome are in good to very good condition. The bumpers are original, and remarkable for their age, but they have fine scratches and a bit of fading. Very nice but not perfect. Luckily these are available as is every other part for this car at low cost from Moss Motors. The interior is decent with a flawless newer carpet but the dash pad is looking old. Presentable but could use improvement. A couple of open dash holes that I don’t know what they are for. The glovebox has no liner or lock. Again, every single part is available for cheap from Moss Motors so there is nothing that cannot be fixed. The tachometer and the speedometer are not functioning but ammeter water temp and oil pressure work perfectly (never gets hot, awesome oil pressure, charging works well). Headlights and rear parking lights and brake lights and even both license plate lights work. Wipers work. Parking brake works but detent does not hold so you have to hold it. Turn signals do not work – I always used my arm…. Front parking lights do not work. Tires have loads of tread but are older. Mounted on a really neat set of old Ansen slotted aluminum mags. Glass is excellent, widows roll up and down properly. I have a top for it that fits very snugly, good enough for an open transport across the country. It’s not beautiful, but it is very good – the rear window having some kind of staining on one side about the size of the edge of a man's hand. One small rip that does not go all the way through, both defects visible in the pictures.Overseas bidders welcome. I am 100 miles from New York shipping ports. I would guess transport to a New York or New Jersey shipper would be less than $500. I sold a Corvette to Austrailia last year and it went well and the buyer was very happy with the car. Please do contact me through eBay with questions and provide a phone number if you want to talk on the phone. To describe every little facet of a car can take pages so please if you are serious, let’s talk. I have a clean and clear Oregon title for the car, so there will be no issues registering it anywhere. The car comes with tons of magazines and other stuff relating to the car. I hope to see it go to a good home and a happy loving owner. I really do adore this little car.
