This 2002 Saturn SL1 four door stick shift has been owned and maintained by an ASE Certified mechanic since it was new. The hood is a little dinged up and rusty, and the back door sills are rusty, as with all Saturns. The car runs and drives great. Front license mount functional but damaged. engine replaced approximately 20,000 miles ago with engine from car with 138,000 miles on it. Low compression on one cylinder, car starts and runs. Runs great, a truly reliable car with no major mechanical issues! few cosmetic problems, little scratches here and there nothing major. Has no AC needs new compressor. Has a brand new battery just put in in February and new radiator. Has been Plasti-Dipped grey and added black 5 spoke wheelcovers. Driver side automatic seatbelt does not work needs the little motor replaced but does have lap belt. Very well maintained with regular oil changes every 3000 miles, brakes were done a few months ago, fluids all in check. This car has been and will continue to be a very reliable little car. 32 mpg highway, 25 city, 26 combined. This car will last you many years to come!

I purchased this Saturn in 2010 to use as a commuter vehicle for a long commute. It was 11 years old with 24k verified miles. I had an ~40k mile/year commute, but about 1.5 years ago we moved closer to my work and just kept it as a spare car. My wife and I now have an empty nest and 4 cars. It's time for her to go. The only reason I didn't sell it sooner is that it's so reliable, cheap to maintain and good on gas that if I needed it for that purpose again I'd have her ready to go. I really don't need to do that. I also thought I might give it to one of my kids, who have decided that Camaro's and 4x4's are way more cool. I grew up being grateful to have wheels. Go figure. I have over $6,000 invested in the car, so it will be a great deal for someone. This car runs perfectly. I used synthetic blend oil and changed it every 3k mi, even against my mechanics recommendation of 5k mi, because I'm old school. I did all the required maintenance and at the appropriate times. At 125k miles I had the wheel bearings replaced as well as the tie rods, brakes and rotors. Last month I had a new muffler put on it, a new battery and had a slight leak fixed in the a/c which is ice cold. It also has a rear defroster and a trailer hitch (only used for a 4x8 trailer for my son's minibike). I recently had the valve cover gasket replaced, new plugs, spark plug wires, new ignition wire set, throttle body cleaned, and more that I can't think of right now. The car is mechanically excellent and needs nothing. Tires: due to the long commute I bought a set of tires that were guaranteed for 100k miles that cost over $600. They're awesome, and I only put about 20k miles on them when my commute ended. I also have a spare set of snows. The car needs a headliner. It has a chip in the fender ~2"x2" and a slight dent in the hood that's not very noticeable and looks like somebody sat on it (see pics). The body has normal wear (scrapes and scratches) from being 16 years old. It is cosmetically good to average condition. I would call it good, but let's call it average for arguments sake. It also has a remote starter but it needs to be reset due to the battery dying this winter. I'm listing this as a no reserve auction. The highest bidder takes it. I have it listed on the outside and reserve the right to close the auction early. There is no warranty. Sold as-is. The inspection expires in October. I can't predict the future and say the car "will" pass inspection, but I literally just got off the phone with my mechanic and at this point he see's nothing that would prevent it, meaning it would pass inspection right now. I forgot to mention in the description that I also had an O2 sensor replaced. It's got some surface rust underneath, but no rot or holes or anything. The rust situation is excellent for the year. The reason for that (in my opinion) is when I bought it in 2010 I don't believe it ever even saw snow. For the last 5 years it has been driven in the snow and therefore is not pristine like when I got it. I would consider it a NY car with 5 years of weather as opposed to 16. Far better than most other NY Saturns. Not perfect. As far as the headliner, the answer is that it is there, but it is too frail to be re-glued or tightened. Or at least done so in a way that would make it look OK. It's not like it's hanging on your head or anything. It's usable. However, it's all or nothing. You either leave it with a crappy, albeit usable headliner, or replace it. I don't have the time to replace it and won't pay $300 for a new one. If I were to buy the car, I would buy one out of the junkyard for ~$35 and bring it to someone to pop it in, ~$50. 1998 Saturn SL2. Purchased in November 2012 from a Chevrolet dealership with 126,000 miles on it. It now has 144,000 as of October 2014. I am not sure how many owners the car had before myself. Gets AMAZING gas mileage. I drive about 20 miles a day to/from school and work. It averages around 35mpg. So far costs about $35-40 to fill the entire 12.1gal tank (depending on gas prices). Great for a first car and has served me very well. This car could last well past 200,000 and I love it, but I need something roomier to fit the car seat for the baby better. I am a college student & all of my minor studies are automotive. I do regular maintenance and have done most of the repairs myself. With proper maintenance this car has many, many years left. No body rust. There is rust on the underside, but that is typical of a car this age. Especially with the snow and salt on Illinois roads. Just bought brand new tires this summer worth $600. The car runs wonderfully. There are no mechanical or electrical issues. Recently replaced the crank sensor and spark plugs. Last year the muffler piping system was replaced.
