This particular 1967 Plymouth GTX has just two owners, a rock-solid documents package, and just a single repaint, making it a great car with no skeletons in its closet. You already know we're suckers for Chryslers angular styling, and the '67 GTX was probably the pinnacle of the design, as everything would change in 1968. The GTX is clean but muscular, an insanely attractive combination that includes twin hood scoops and chiseled character lines along its flanks. The car shows about 87,000 miles and we're inclined to believe that's an authentic number, because this sucker is very, very clean. It was repainted once a few years ago in its original RR Yellow, and that repaint is holding up extremely well. The shine is appropriate to the era and while it shows a few signs of use, the look is that of a car that has been loved all its life. There's also a contrasting black vinyl top, which not only give the GTX a grown-up look but also emphasizes the cantilever styling that is this car's hallmark. The chrome and stainless trim is almost entirely original, so there's some wear and tear, but the overall look works really well, with nothing standing out as too nice or too deteriorated. The love shows. The beautiful black vinyl bucket seat interior is completely original, and if that doesn't convince you that this car has led an easy life, nothing will. The seats are in excellent condition with only minor stretching in the front buckets, but otherwise excellent. The tooling down the centers of the seats was a big part of the upmarket appeal of the GTX, and with a center console and a full array of gauges, it feels racy. The gauges themselves show a bit of age but they all work properly and there's always something special about sliding behind the wheel of a quality Mopar and grabbing that oversized wheel. The factory radio is still in the dash, although it's no longer operational, the lone demerit in what is otherwise a very impressive original car. The trunk is likewise well-preserved, with a correct original mat and spare tire hiding underneath. This GTX is fortified with its original 440 cubic inch Super Commando V8, which was rated at 375 horsepower by the factory. The twin-snorkel air cleaner tips you off that this isn't a garden-variety engine, and the unique exhaust manifolds were a hallmark of Chrysler big blocks for several years. The intake manifold has been upgraded and there's an electronic ignition module inside the distributor (the original parts are included with the car), but otherwise it's original and in outstanding condition. Corporate turquoise engine enamel, chrome valve covers, and proper hoses and clamps all give it a proper look and you can't argue with the seamless flow of torque this engine generates. Its' backed by a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and an 8.75-inch rear end as well as a recent dual exhaust system that sounds just right. The underside is unrestored, so you'll want to skip the mirrors, but there's exactly zero evidence this car has ever seen inclement weather. It rides and handles beautifully and those black Rallye wheels give it a predatory look that suits it just fine. Documented with a Chrysler Corporation Broadcast sheet and original fender tag, this is a wonderfully well documented car that's ready for its third owner to take care of it. 1967 Plymouth GTX hardtop, matching numbers, 440 CID V8 Super Commando, 375 HP, 4-barrel, 3 Speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. All original but one repaint, with RR1 Yellow paint that matches the build sheet. Build sheet and fender tag are clean and legible. This GTX is very original, close to survivor, except paint update. This vehicle is in exceptional condition considering it's originality. Automatic, 440 Engine is well preserved and runs great. Based on the shape of the car, I believe the 87K miles is original, but cannot confirm after 48 years. Two owner garaged all it's life. This gentleman's muscle car is the first year the GTX came off the assembly line and is very collectible. It runs great, and easily chirps the tires shifting to 2nd gear. Two documented owners- always garaged. Updated with electronic ignition and intake, but have original parts in boxes. Also have all four original matching steel wheels. Serious inquiries only...

The Road Runner was all about bargain performance, while the GTX was its more sophisticated brother designed to combat the likes of Buick and Mercury. With that in mind, this handsome 1968 GTX combines brute horsepower with some luxury features that make a fantastic way to travel. With a restoration that's a few years old, the subtle GTX still has presence. Finished in Turbine Bronze, which was an available color in 1968, it's a subtle, attractive color that works on the upscale GTX more than on the high-impact Road Runner or other in-your-face muscle cars. The shape was all-new in '68, but the traditional styling cues are still there, from the sleek hardtop profile to the crease in the quarter panel. The sheetmetal is quite straight and clean, suggesting a solid car was used as the foundation for this GTX tribute. The conversion is quite thorough, with proper black rocker stripes and GTX emblems on the grille as well as just behind the doors, although the HEMI callouts on the hood are purely for show. There's also plenty of chrome that's all in very good condition, and I have no idea where they found the GTX-exclusive tail panel, which is virtually unobtainable today. The black vinyl roof gives it a formal look, and it, too, is in great shape. A custom black interior combines original-style patterns with more luxurious cloth seating surfaces on Challenger bucket seats. Not strictly authentic, but certainly in tune with what the GTX was trying to achieve and a big step up from the original vinyl. The upscale GTX vibe continues with woodgraining on the dash, a lot of bright trim, including on the center console, and a fairly complete set of gauges with clear markings. The factory Music Master AM/8-track radio remains in place, and although it's not working any longer I think I'd keep it in place just for the 1960s look. The door panels with their woodgrain inserts look new, as do the carpets, with everything else showing proper care and not a lot of use. The sizable trunk includes a correct mat, jack assembly, and a full-sized spare tire with period inflator bottle. Mopar fans will probably take a quick glance at the VIN and be pleased to see that this is a real-deal L-code car that came with a 440 "high performance" engine. Dressed in Mopar finned valve covers and air cleaner, it makes impressive power and torque using an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and intake manifold. The combination is very streetable, with endless big block torque available at virtually any speed and the 440 is one big block that doesn't mind revving a bit. The engine bay is nicely detailed, not totally stock, but clean and interesting to look at and 100% operational. It's backed by a 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic, and the factory-issue 8.75-inch rear end out back. A recent Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds downright wicked, and while you're looking around under there, note that the floors are in remarkably good condition and have been painted to match the bodywork. Staggered Coys alloys look sporty and carry 235/55/18 front and 275/40/20 rear performance radials. The GTX remains a favorite among Mopar faithful, and with the fantastic looks, big block power, and tasteful upgrades, this is a car you can own and drive with pride.
