It's because a select few are as unique as snowflakes, and this 1969 Plymouth GTX is a true 1 of 1 with the documentation to back it up. And when a numbers-matching 426 Hemi coupe survives with low mileage like this, bidding wars usually break out. The 65K miles on this car are believed to be actual but are not documented. The GTX was the gentleman's muscle car. Many people were not willing to go to the expense of premium rapid transit, and instead opted for its Road Runner sibling. Today that makes the GTX one of the most respected and rare Mopars around, so you are already going to gain gawkers from far across the car show field. As they get closer, the compliments will start with the paintwork; and you'll be able to tell them it's a professional respray of the factory-correct B7 Jamaica Blue. They'll start to admire the details like the red pinstriping, pristine brightwork, matte black hood stripes, and optional Magnum 500 wheels w/redline tires; and this will be the time you'll take out the factory buildsheet and Galen Govier paperwork that shows this Plymouth was built with an option series that is currently one-of-a-kind. The gentleman's attitude continues inside with an interior that harmoniously blends luxury and performance features. The black bucket seats appear factory fresh, giving you an idea of how much someone cared for this car. Almost everything you can see or touch feels new, including the seat covers, door panels, and carpets. There's hints of wood paneling on the dash, doors, center console, shift knob, and even three-spoke sports steering wheel. Besides just the extra wide speedometer, the driver gets a full gauge package that includes temperature, ammeter, and a rare factory tachometer. The best part of this heavily invested interior is that everything works, right down to the ambient lighting and power windows. This one even carries the original (and rare) R22 AM/8-track radio, although you can also hook in your iPod now to play some more modern tunes. But honestly, the radio is secondary to the soundtrack that comes from the power under the hood. The engine bay is completely filled with the one thing that everyone wants in a classic Mopar a numbers-matching Hemi advertised at 425 hp! Yes, the callouts on the air grabber hood were not lying. Not only does it look great with the big, bold Coyote Duster topper, but the motor has only averaged 1,400 miles per year over its lifetime. This is the kind pedigree that will get this bad boy muscle car invited to the top concours events. But as much as the world will want to see your surviving Mopar, you'll likely be too busy adding miles to the odometer. After all, when you put your toe into this Hemi and open up the dual four-barrel carburetors, the dual exhaust make the kind of howl you can hear all the way across town... and that's just too much fun to resist. Plus, it will never take too much convicting to go for a Sunday drive thanks to easy features like the power steering, front disc brakes and the three-speed automatic transmission. This GTX has all the right features to make this investor-grade Mopar irresistible to take out for a spin. It only takes one hand to count how many other GTXs had so many of these features, and that's why you should use your one hand to pick up the phone and call today. 1969 Plymouth GTX for Sale 1969 Plymouth GTX for Sale Stock # 0148-TPA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. Amazing, it has been in the same family since it was purchased new in late '57. The current owner's sister purchased the car brand new (how amazing is that?) and the family has tons of records that go with this fine piece of American history to prove out the story. Through these records we can also prove the car only has 37,838 original miles! There's also only 1,000 miles on it since a full four-year body-off restoration. So we are reserving this convertible for those who know how to cherish classic American elegance. The Chrysler cars just had a little extra flash and size compared to its two rivals in the 1950s, and this Belvedere ragtop is a prime example of this flare. The pristine Alithia white was applied when this car when through its full restoration in the mid 90s. It's near the factory color, except it has much more depth than what Plymouth offered. Of course no matter how glossy the paint is, it cannot outshine all the intricate brightwork. It starts up front with the extra large grille that wraps around the fenders and sits above and below the highly stylized chrome bumper. The trim rockets down the full length of both sides to brightly remind us all of the beginning of the jet age. This brightwork concludes in the rear with a beautiful chrome bumper flanked by trim that fits the tall tailfins perfectly. This one feels factory correct right down to the hubcaps, and someone really knew about style when they ordered this Plymouth. Even the whitewall tires perfectly coordinate with the black folding top and white body to give this one an added regal appearance even with the roof in place. Inside the black, white, and chrome motif continues. The two-tone vinyl bench seats have some great intricate texture, and so do the bright inserts in the doors. In fact, you can tell everything inside has been expertly cared for since its restoration. It's apparent the moment you sit behind the stylized two-tone wheel w/chrome ring and see the clarity of the full gauge package. And despite this car's size, the heat/defrost and AM radio controls are easily within reach...and work perfectly! Under the hood is an A-series 318 cubic-inch V8 motor that looks factory-correct right down to bold blue block and valve cover treatment. It even has the correct Carter four-barrel carburetor. It moves this convertible with some real authority, but in reality, these Plymouths were made to be comfortable cruisers. You can see it just by how operate the three-speed automatic from the push-button selector next to the steering wheel. It even has power steering, too. So this is the one you're going to enjoy showing off on Saturday but easy enough to drive all day on Sunday. We all know the movie Christine used a devilishly red possessed '58 Plymouth, but instead, this is Belvedere convertible is a car show angel. It even comes with the original warranty card and owner's manual to prove it. This is a cherished classic for chrome loves who are ready to win awards the moment you leave our showroom. Now this well-dressed modern hot rod can be yours for a price far below all of its upgrades would suggest. Keen eyes and Prowler fans know that Midnight Blue is a special color. This is part of the Mulholland Edition. This is the first year Blue was available, and it coincides with the first year the badge name was officially switched over to Chrysler (although we all know these are from the dearly departed Plymouth nameplate.) More importantly, this package comes with a cool blue convertible top and a hand painted blue pinstripe. But you can also instantly tell that this limited edition Prowler is extra special. Those odd looking federally mandated bumpers have disappeared in the front and rear, and their mounting spaces have been properly capped. Up front you'll also see the custom billet grille, and at each corner, there are the bold black American racing wheels with chrome spinners. Inside is where this retro ride gets very modern. It's outfitted with exceptionally comfortable charcoal gray leather buckets with the special Prowler logo embossed in the backs. The low mileage really shows here where little seat time equals virtually zero wear. Since this is a modern classic, there are plenty of great features, and everything works as it should thanks to the engineering strength of a major corporation behind it. The color-matched instrument stands out boldly with trick white-faced instruments. Air conditioning, a powerful AM/FM/cassette factory stereo, power windows, power locks, and that slick-shifting "Auto-Stick" transmission all make the Prowler a more functional choice for those who like a vintage look but modern convenience. In fact, a retro car also means welcomed safety features like the dual airbags and ABS that come with the Prowler's great vintage looks. The lightweight nature of the Prowler means the 3.5-liter 24-valve V6's 253 horsepower moves this roadster quite nicely. It's a tight fit in engine bay, but thanks to a great track record, you won't need to worry about major service for years to come. It starts instantly and idles smoothly thanks to fully-engineered EFI, and going down the road in it takes no more knowledge or skill than your daily driver just try that in an old hot rod! The five-speed automatic overdrive transmission and power steering make this a fine anytime cruiser. When you want a little more fun, the AutoStick has a manual mode that will really open up the backroads thanks to the fully independent suspension, four wheel disc brakes, and grippy Goodyear Eagle GS-D tires. This is a limited edition hot rod that comes with so much factory backing there's even the original owner's manual. It's time to look vintage cool without giving up modern convenience or too much cash. After all, when was the last time you saw a 1968 Plymouth Fury III Fast Top coupe for sale? Especially one that looks this nice and factory-correct. While it seems like every third car built in the late '60s was pea green, this lovely code KK1 Misty Turquoise Fury subtly stands out. Part of this distinction is likely because of a recent respray of its factory-correct color. There's a sense of how much care this car has received over the yeas when you see all the original sheetmetal on this exceptionally long Plymouth coupe. In fact, the car's length is emphasized by the original single band of trim running from stem to stern. The Fury III was the premium trim so that's where you get great looking accessories like the rear fender skirts and premium wheel covers. All of this is wrapped in the interesting optional Fast Top body whose sport appearance lived up to its name. Full-sized comfort was the name of the game in 1968. The highly-stylized split bench seat has two different textures of black vinyl to give a clever two-tone appearance. The seats and door panels look excellent, which is once again a testament to this coupe's level of care. The back seat is just as nice and even as a two-door there's plenty of stretch out room for rear-seat passengers. All the controls are grouped in front of the driver and all factory gauges are nice and clear. While this one appears thoroughly original right down to the AM radio, one nice upgrade is the ice cold air conditioning now runs on modern R-134a. All of these features really make this big Plymouth an ideal long-distance cruiser. The 318 cubic-inch V8 shows signs of being the original motor, but one look at the engine bay and you know there have been some worthwhile upgrades. This includes a new aluminum pulley setup, belts, and alternator. The motor breathes nicely thanks to inhaling through the original spec two-barrel carburetor and exhaling through an upgraded stainless steel dual exhaust with a sweet rumble. The total package makes for a reliable and smooth runner that still has the legs to pull ahead of traffic when you want. It's backed by a three-speed automatic transmission and power steering to emphasize the easy-going road manners of these Plymouths. This is a classic car that gets attention because no one else at the car show brought one. But more than just being an endangered species, this large Plymouth is one of the most affordable and complete vintage Mopar coupes you might ever see. This custom build has the 440 V8 heart of a true street-eating beast. This is also a very solid car which runs out excellent. One look at the floor pans, the laser straight body, and the glossy paint and you know you're dealing with a Barracuda that's a cut above the rest! Before we dive into the beastly side of this Barracuda, let's appreciate the first impression this car gives off. The pillarless hardtop is a staple of muscle car style. Plus, on the 1968 models we see the first hints at the iconic styling touches that would be exaggerated for the '70s 'Cudas like the power bulge in the hood and the wide, narrow rear bodywork. Actually, the fastback model outsold the hardtop coupes like this one in 1968, so there's even a rarity factor here. But above all, the restoration to this Barracuda has created such as laser-straight body that it's superior to anything that was coming out of Chrysler's Hamtramck factory in '68. Still, the first thing that attracts you to this coupe at first sight likely is the staggered stance and the period-correct American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. The interior is just like the exterior by being subtle and supple, and it would rather let the motor do the aggressive talking. The seats are an elegant white vinyl that's comfortable enough that this full-size Mopar can carry the whole family with dad and mom enjoying the high-back buckets up front. Chrysler stylists in the '60s were at the top of their game. Like the body, it's simple and unadorned, but the detailing and shapes are brilliant. A comprehensive set of gauges are easily visible through the slender steering wheel spokes. Everything looks amazingly original, and everything functions from the heat/defrost controls to the factory AM radio. But if you look towards the end of the center console, there's a hint at what this coupe is really about. Perched right where the driver can see it clearly is a new Autometer tachometer with large readout - a clear sign that there is some major power up front. Be prepared for shock and awe at plenty of car shows as you lift the hood and display the 440 cubic-inch big block V8 in this exceptionally tidy engine bay. Plymouth would offer the Formula S model with an optional 440 in 1969, but even that car did not have a six-pack like this one. So this custom build is about giving you the setup the factory wouldn't. But this more than just a monster motor with the perfect carburetor setup. This power plant has upgrades that include an MSD ignition, thermo-coated steel 440 crankshaft, 440 Six-Pack connecting rods, '70-71 Six Pack pistons (10.6 to 1 compression), and a Mopar Performance Six-Pack camshaft. It makes one heck of an intimidating rumble out of the H-pipe dual exhaust. This is connected to a modified version of Mopar's stout Torqueflight 727 three-speed automatic. The power is then sent to the Dana 60 Richmond rear end that's running a 3.73 ratio for great takeoffs. But of course power is nothing without control, and so this Barracuda comes with front disc brakes and Goodyear Eagle tires at all four corners. Cars with a clear purpose for dominating the streets rarely are this easy to live with. But you can pick up this excellent and intimidating Mopar at an affordable price. 1968 Plymouth Barracuda for Sale 1968 Plymouth Barracuda for Sale Stock # 0032-TPA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1.
