Big, comfortable, and able to effortlessly cruise across the country, this is first-class travel the way it was meant to be. There's a lot of sheetmetal here, and the good news is that it's all in excellent shape. The yellow paint appears to be a special order color identified by "SPECIAL" on the cowl tag; it's a bit brighter than Omega Yellow, which was available that year, and we have to say that it looks great on the full-sized Olds. It was repainted a few years ago, but this is otherwise a good original car that's led an easy life, so the sheetmetal lines up well, the doors close firmly, and it looks quite crisp overall. The white rub strip was reinstalled after that paint was dry and as far as we can tell, this was a trim-off job that looks very sharp around all the edges. Details like the urethane rubber fillers between the body and bumpers are in excellent condition and all the lenses are bright and clear, another indicator of a car that's lived indoors. And like most luxury cars of the '70s, there's plenty of chrome, including the bumpers, grille, headlight surrounds and windshield frame. The white interior appears to be almost entirely original, which, again, will give you some indication of how well-maintained this car really is. The driver's seat shows some minor wear, mostly in the high-traffic area where someone would slide behind the wheel, but there's nothing in need of replacement. Black carpets are probably a bit newer than the rest and look great, while the back seat is very well preserved. The dash pad and the woodgrained inserts are excellent with no fading or cracking, and you'll note that this car's list of accessories include A/C (still fully operational), power windows, cruise control, and a tilt steering column. Gauges are crisp and bright, if only covering the basics, and even the original AM/FM radio is still doing its thing in the middle of the dash. The white power convertible top is GM's "scissor" design that permits a full-width rear seat and includes a glass rear window and matching white boot. The trunk is neatly finished with original-style mouse-fur pad and a matching spare assembly. Oldsmobile's 350 cubic inch V8 doesn't share any major components with other divisions' small block motors, and that's entirely a good thing. It's torquey and smooth with a distinctly different personality than comparable Chevy or Pontiac motors. The engine bay looks largely original, with a factory air cleaner up top, traditional Oldsmobile Gold engine enamel, and plenty of evidence of proper maintenance over the years. With your full-sized convertible, power steering and brakes were standard equipment, and this one includes a smooth-shifting TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and highway-friendly gears out back. A mellow dual exhaust system gives it just the right sound for its luxurious mission and with air shocks on the rear axle, it's ideally set up for parades with the homecoming queen perched on the rear seat. Interesting factory alloy wheels are a neat accessory and wear correct 225/70/15 Goodyear whitewall radials with a very period tread pattern. In terms of bang for the buck, full-sized convertibles like this are hard to beat. How can you not love its combination of style, open-air motoring, and V8 power? The top goes down, there a 455 cubic inch mill under the hood, and that color combination will always look great. For speed and class, it's hard to beat an Olds. We're fans of tribute cars here at Streetside Classics, and this cool bright white Oldsmobile is only the latest in a long line of cars with many virtues and few vices. The 1968 Oldsmobiles were great looking cars no matter what badges they were wearing, and this one is clean, straight, and very distinctive. Probably the most noticeable 442 feature is the bright red stripe on the front fenders, a classic styling element that made Oldsmobile's muscle car stand out in a crowd of A-bodies. Of course, the big '442' emblems don't hurt, and no, don't worry, this one has the horsepower to back up its look, but we'll get to that in a moment. The finish is in good condition with only a few signs of use, and they left the bodywork alone, right down to the original hood with its built-in grilles. UP front, the pointed bumper is in excellent condition, while out back the familiar Oldsmobile taillights are perched just above 442-style exhaust trumpets that definitely accentuate the horsepower look. The bright red interior is exactly the right choice on a white convertible with sporting intentions. Cloth is an unusual choice in a '60s ragtop, but after you spend a day in the sun, you'll understand why it was a smart decision. It shows well and has no splits or tears, just some light fading that's inevitable with a read interior exposed to the sun all the time. A leather-wrapped steering wheel has a traditional Oldsmobile performance look and the three big, round gauge pods are an unexpectedly sporty choice for conservative Olds. The main gauges cover only the basics, so a trio of the usual auxiliary gauges are stashed underneath, just above the controller for the custom horn system. There's an AM/FM radio in the dash and a tilt steering column for the driver, both signs that this isn't your average low-end car. The white power convertible top folds easily and seals up well, and the trunk is outfitted with a correct mat and full-sized spare with cover. This Olds is definitely not lacking in the horsepower department, because you'll find a 455 cubic inch V8 under the hood. Yes, we know the 455 wasn't technically available in 1968, but with tribute cars, you don't necessarily have to stick to the original recipe. The big 455 is a neat fit in the Cutlass engine bay and wearing corporate turquoise engine paint and a 442 air cleaner, it'll pass at a glance. It's also smooth, torquey, and makes this ragtop feel 800 pounds lighter than it is. It's not radical, so it's easy to drive, especially with power steering and brakes, and the heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic transmission is the right choice on a dual-purpose luxury muscle car like this. 3.08 gears in the 12-bolt rear mean that this is a fantastic long-range cruiser and the ride is always comfortable. Color-matched Oldsmobile Rally II wheels always look right and carry staggered 205/70/14 front and 215/70/14 rear blackwall radials. Affordable big block fun, this Olds tribute offers everything that people love about the 442 without the big price tag. Hard to argue with that logic. Although it's not a thumping 442 big block, this 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass is an extremely clean, stylish, and downright handsome ragtop with Rocket 350 power and a ton of luxury accessories. When was the last time you could get a car that looks this good for so little money? How about never? Code 68 stands for "Brown" in the GM paint department, and "Sable Brown" at Oldsmobile, so it shouldn't be a surprise that this ragtop has been repainted a more vivid and appealing bright blue. Compared to the high-impact colors on some of the performance models, this lovely Cutlass Supreme convertible still stays under the radar with elegance instead of in-your-face bravado. Despite the color change a few years ago, it has a sincere, original look that we find quite appealing and they painters took no liberties with the finish; there are no stripes or other tweaks, just the same type of finish the GM designers insisted on in 1971. The sheetmetal underneath is obviously quite solid and straight, and with the slight kick-up behind the doors, the Cutlass has a unique look that makes it stand out among its corporate cousins. Subtle contrasting white pinstripes serve to highlight what is already a very good looking car, especially the way the rear quarters kick up behind the doors. Plenty of chrome is appropriate on the luxury-oriented Olds, and all of it appears to be nice original stuff that's neither too nice nor too deteriorated to work with the rest of the cosmetics. There's a great-looking code 977 white bucket seat interior waiting for you inside, and it shows quite well even after all these years. Like the paint, it's quite likely that it was restored at some point, but then again, maybe not and perhaps it has just been well-maintained all that time. The seats are excellent, front and rear, the door panels are quite nice although they may be the one part of the interior starting to show their age. The dash is filled with crisp gauges with their neat orange-tipped pointers, along with controls for the factory A/C and an original AM/FM radio. The center console is a welcome option in the sporty olds, along with power windows that make owning a convertible easy. And speaking of convertible, the white power top is in excellent condition and includes a matching white boot for when it's stowed. The trunk is clean, with spatter-finish paint, and carries a full-sized spare tire, just in case. Oldsmobile's Rocket 350 was no slouch. Known for their torquey nature, the strong-running engine makes great V8 sounds that totally fit the car's luxury/performance mission. The engine bay has been nicely detailed but remains quite stock, from the original air cleaner to the cast iron exhaust manifolds, and the corporate turquoise engine enamel looks like it's been done recently. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission spinning a 10-bolt rear with gears that let the torque do the work but allow the car to cruise effortlessly on the highway without a lot of fuss. The floors are solid and original and in good condition, again suggesting that this car has always been in a warm climate and has always been well-maintained. And any car looks racy with color-matched SSII wheels, with these wearing 215/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials. More than just a nice old car, these Cutlasses are finally coming into their own as legitimate collector's pieces that drive as great as they look. Repainted a few years ago, the Bamboo is a subtle look that neatly straddles the Oldsmobile's position between sport and luxury, and in a sea of bright blue and red A-bodies, this one definitely stands out. From the split grille up front to those artfully sculpted rear fenders, it still has a sporty, aggressive look, but the shiny paint tones it down a bit, making this the perfect car for the guy who likes a low profile with his muscle. Fit and finish are quite good, and there's no evidence that this car has ever been rusty, although it does show the usual signs of use and age. All the chrome and stainless is in good condition, and against that Bamboo paint, it definitely glitters. The Saddle interior is definitely an unusual choice, but with the Bamboo paint, it is absolutely the best possible choice. Plan old black? Too hot. White? Too bland. No, this two-tone tan interior is fantastic. It's also in decent condition, with only minor fading (what do you expect-it's a convertible from a sunny state). Door panels, carpets, and the dash pad are all quite good, and the original gauges offer brushed stainless steel faces and bright indicators that are instantly recognizable as Oldsmobile. An AM/FM radio has been fitted and powers a number of speakers throughout the interior, but otherwise it's quite stock and very handsome inside, with an upscale vibe that distinguishes it from the other cars. The tan power convertible top, complete with glass rear window, was installed in the not-too-distant past, along with new weather-stripping, and it includes a matching tan boot. Oldsmobile's Rocket 350 shared its displacement with the other GM intermediates, but little else. Thanks to a high nickel content block, Olds engines seem to be able to take a lot of abuse before giving up the ghost, and when they're well maintained like this numbers-matching unit, they'll run practically forever. This one is wearing what appears to be origianl Oldsmobile Gold paint, which dates back to the '50s, and you'll note factory A/C is part of the package with the system working properly. There's plenty of new gear, too, including a fresh alternator and master cylinder, so it's ready to enjoy. A TH350 3-speed automatic drives the original rear end, and it offers that distinctive Oldsmobile soundtrack thanks to a new Flowmaster exhaust system. Color-matched Olds Rallye wheels have been fitted with fat white-letter radials that look awesome. So give an Olds a chance, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's got a heck of a lot of presence, plenty of horsepower from a 350 cubic inch Olds V8, and I guarantee nobody else at the local cruise-in will have one like it. That's a lot of sheetmetal to restore and it must have taken months of work to get it all so straight. The sleek fastback profile is something you don't see often, and the Delmont 88 is a rather rare piece today. Obviously a relative of the Riviera (remember the Toronado went front-wheel-drive), it's one of GM's better-looking full-sized coupes and in black it looks like a heavyweight fighter in a tuxedo. In fact, almost every single part on the exterior of this car was dipped in that deep, rich paint, including the grille, bumpers, and even the windshield wipers. Most of the emblems were shaved, as were the side marker lights, and a subtle chin spoiler and a deck-mounted wing give it a sporting look. It's downright brutal to see this car in person, and you'd better get ready for an awful lot of people asking you about it, because this big Olds gets noticed! The interior came from the factory with a bunch of good stuff already baked right in, including bucket seats and a console, something you'd hardly expect from a full-sized Oldsmobile. The late-model seats have been neatly reupholstered so they look quite modern and the three-spoke steering wheel add a racy look the same way the win on the trunk does. The original gauges are set deep in three round nacelles and are joined by a set of auxiliary dials down low above the console. A modern Pyle head unit offers an iPod interface and a clean look in the center of the dash. This car also came with factory A/C, which is something you'd probably expect from a big luxury car like this. You'd also expect a giant back seat and a massive trunk, the latter of which shows zero rust or other issues, suggesting a car that's led a very easy life in a warm climate. Under that 442-style dual-snorkel air cleaner there's a rebuilt 350 cubic inch 1970 Olds Rocket V8 that pulls the big coupe around with ease. A big Rochester 4-barrel carburetor gives you right now throttle response and an HEI distributor ensures reliable starting and effortless performance. Stock exhaust manifolds keep it Oldsmobile quiet inside, but with a pair of growling mufflers out back, there's a nice rumble that matches the insidious look. The TH400 3-speed automatic transmission doesn't even blink at the power and weight it's managing and stock gears out back mean that it's an excellent highway cruiser. The undercarriage is unrestored, but at a glance, you'd think that someone has cleaned it up because the floors are excellent and there's just no evidence that this car ever spent any time up north. A stock suspension still rides well, even with those gigantic 20-inch wheels with black centers and 275/40/20 performance radials. Take this 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, for example. The same tidy A-body footprint, a uniquely aggressive Oldsmobile look, and a fantastic combination of power and luxury that the junior brands can't quite match. Check it out. The code V Antique Pewter paint gives this big Olds a mature but somewhat sinister look, like it's all dressed up for a night out, complete with black leather gloves and an attitude. The paint is about five years old and shows pretty well, but a cut and buff would work wonders on it, taking it up a few levels without a big investment. The clean flanks are free of messy body cladding or trim, and the guys who did the work were careful to maintain that crisp line that frames the wheel wells and tracks along the rocker panels. Nice! The wide grille with quad headlights was a distinctive Oldsmobile look for more than a decade, and it looks right without trying too hard. Stacked taillights were used throughout the lineup, so there's a full-sized connection to the brand even from behind. Chrome and stainless are quite nice and really pop against the dark gray paint, and the black vinyl top was installed at the same time, so it looks fresh. Bucket seats were rather rare in Oldsmobiles, but if you're cross-shopping from the Chevelle store, you'll be thrilled to see them here. New seat covers with correct materials and patterns leave no doubt that this is a GM A-body, and there are matching black carpets on the floor. It's quite possible that the door panels are original, since they're not quite as nice, but if they are, then you know someone loved this car, because they're in great shape. And as I said, as an Oldsmobile, you got a few perks like factory A/C, power steering and power front disc brakes. Today there's a newer AM/FM/CD stereo under the dash in its own housing, so the original dash wasn't hacked up for the install, and custom kick panels with built-in speakers are a subtle way to improve the sound quality. Also take a moment to check out the ultra-clean trunk, complete with color-matched spare wheel and tire assembly and a new mat. Oldsmobile's 330 cubic inch V8 was hardly a slouch in the performance department. Cackling to life with that characteristic Oldsmobile starter chatter, it idles smoothly and pulls with torque that suggests more cubic inches at work than there actually are. The engine is completely stock, and as a result it's reliable and easy to service. Fresh Rocket Gold paint on the block and a flashy Jetfire air cleaner give it an Oldsmobile look under the hood, and thanks to a factory-style exhaust system, it sounds powerful, yet subdued. A 3-speed automatic transmission and the original rear end mean that it's a superlative highway cruiser, and while the ride is smooth and supple, it is far from clumsy when the road starts to twist. Classic Magnum 500 wheels look good on just about anything, and on this Olds they wear 225/70/14 white-letter radials that look sporty. So take advantage of the Oldsmobile's anonymity, you might just find that there's a lot more car here than you expect, especially at this price. Its matching-numbers 455 has been tuned and tweaked to take no prisoners on the street, and the brilliant Rally Red paint is pretty much the opposite of subtle. Add in a 4-speed, a W-30 kit, and, well, you have a brute-force muscle car that has a bright future ahead of it. Rally Red was Oldsmobile's name for Hugger Orange, and it looks every bit as spectacular here as it does on your favorite Camaro. You already know that we love Oldsmobile's version of the A-body, with its neo-fastback profile and bulging quarter panels, and this one hits all the right notes. With W-30 badging, a ram air hood, and the spoiler on the rear deck, it looks downright nasty, and the drag-race look certainly isn't just for show. Finish quality is good, which is how you want it on a car that's going to go out hunting on weekends and maybe hit the track on test-and-tune night. Leave perfection for the trailer queens, this 442 is made to be driven! The black stripes highlight the aggressive look, yet it retains its unique Oldsmobile identity thanks to chrome bumpers and a few bright stainless trim pieces that really dress it up. The black interior is still pure Oldsmobile. Handsome bucket seats look upscale and comfortable, and flank an optional center console that's a very desirable addition. The 4-spoke steering wheel should look familiar to any Olds fan and the stainless-faced gauges with their delicate pointers are some of the most attractive dials of the muscle car era. Of course, as an Olds, they just couldn't lay off the burled walnut appliques on the dash, door panels, and console, but it makes for a nice contrast to the otherwise monochromatic interior. A Tick-Tock-Tach is a welcome upgrade, as is the tilt steering column, and the original AM radio was ditched in favor of an AM/FM/cassette head unit in the center of the dash. A Hurst shifter manages the 4-speed gearbox and 442-logo floor mats are a gentle reminder that this isn't your father's Oldsmobile (sorry). The trunk is sparse, but it's covered in correct spatter-finish paint and carries a full-sized spare for emergencies. The original, numbers-matching 455 cubic inch V8 sill delivers a smackdown to the unwary, especially now that it's been suitably fortified. The block is original, and now wears E heads, an Edelbrock intake, and a big Holley 4-barrel carb, so performance is entertaining to say the least. It looks industrial strength with aluminum valve covers and those bright red W-30 inner fenders, and there's nothing getting in the way of maximum performance. It's backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and a heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end, which is upgraded with a W-30 rear end cover that not only looks cool but adds strength to the entire assembly. Long-tube headers feed a custom dual exhaust system with X-pipe, so it has a spectacular engine note that has to be heard to be believed. The relatively stock suspension uses upgraded sway bars to keep things level, and handsome Centerline aluminum wheels carry staggered 225/70/15 front and 295/50/15 rear BFG radials. This is not a purist's 442, but if you're an Oldsmobile guy who appreciates performance, then you know exactly what this car brings to the table. Even today, it's a blast to drive and makes for one of the most handsome cars of the period. The hardtop look arrived with the overhead valve V8 engine in 1949, instantly making Oldsmobile the big kid on the block when it came to performance. Everything else that came before it was second-place, and if you were fast, you had a Rocket under your hood. The fantastic styling of this top-of-the-line 98 Holiday coupe makes it the ideal professional hot rod of the period, and draping it in Garnet Maroon gives it the perfect upscale look. Blending a few curves left over from the 1940s and a streamlined look that would define the 1950s, this Olds was carefully refinished to a very high level and still looks fantastic following a repaint just a few years ago. The chrome and trim is beautifully done and the rocket theme repeats itself on the hood ornament and under the headlights, which resemble the intakes on a fighter plane. The three-pane rear window was a GM styling trademark, as were the lovely "globe" emblems front and rear. It's obvious this car has led a really good life. There's plenty of evidence of that inside, where you'll find an almost 100% original interior. The cloth and leather seats have a very comfortable, inviting look that's far from looking its age. The understated colors work quite well and GM stylists worked hard to give each brand a unique look. For Oldsmobile, it was a two-tiered dashboard that put all the gauges in a single pod ahead of the driver, plus a gorgeous steering wheel that echoes the exterior styling. As Oldsmobile's top-of-the-line model, it should be no surprise that this car features power hydraulic windows and a power seat, both of which were still a big deal in 1950. There's also an AM radio in the dash and a Hydra-Matic transmission on the steering column. Chrome knobs and levers echo the aircraft theme. The trunk is unquestionably original, with factory fabric and a full-sized spare of indeterminate age. Oldsmobile's 303 cubic inch V8 was a very big deal in 1949, and 1950 only helped cement its position as THE engine to have. The neatly dressed overhead valve V8 carries its original 2-barrel carburetor with air cleaner, Rocket valve covers with special brackets for the plug wires, and even a factory generator still making the juice. Power steering was added at some point (it wasn't OEM until 1952) and uses factory-style components so that only an expert will notice. And GM's Hydra-Matic automatic transmission delivered sparkling performance behind the fast-revving V8 engine, especially when breathing through a rumbling dual exhaust system. The chassis features originality and years of grease and dirt, but no major issues and offers more proof that this car really has been well-maintained all its life. Painted steel wheels with full wheel covers are fitted with 8.20-15 Firestone wide whites for the perfect 1950s cruiser look. Yes, it does carry its original 455 cubic inch V8 and yes, it's dressed in some seriously aggressive bodywork, but the combination of the sleek silver paint and comfortable interior remind us that buying an Olds was an entirely different experience. OK, so the original color was Antique Green, but I'm guessing there's just no way it looked as good as the icy silver paint this 442 currently wears. In a sea of red and yellow and black muscle, this car stands out, looking both contemporary and brutal, it seems to ignore the usual standards and goes off on its own. Sure, it's got hood scoops and a wing on the deck lid, plus a pair of black stripes that highlight the hood, but showing up in this car gets a lot of attention. It's also a real-deal 442, so those badges were installed honestly and the aggressive look is factory-issue. Nice chrome sparkles against the silver paint, black pinstripes highlight the flared fenders, and it's really hard to not love this Olds. The black interior was also fully restored to factory specs, including the front bench seat that's a somewhat unusual find in a 442. Oldsmobile's added luxury is evident throughout, from the woodgrained door panels to the somewhat more expensive-feeling vinyl used on the seats to the rather lengthy list of options. There's hardly any wear on any of the soft parts, so the car looks and feels quite fresh, and that's a tic-toc tach to the right of the speedometer. Included among this car's features are power windows, factory air-conditioning, and ultra-rare cruise control, which I don't think I've seen before on a car like this. The original AM radio is gone, but the AM/FM/cassette unit in its place does a decent job of looking like it belongs there and sounds decent, too. And despite the fastback profile, there's a good-sized trunk with plenty of space inside even with a full-sized spare stowed there, too. That's the original, numbers-matching 455 cubic inch V8, and while new rules and lower octane fuels knocked a few horsepower off the top, the mountainous torque it produces delivers the performance you'd expect. The engine bay is clean and obviously shows signs that it was carefully and accurately restored some time ago, with bright corporate blue engine enamel, a correct 442 decal on the air cleaner, and all original equipment save for the long-tube headers and 3-inch exhaust system. It barks to life with that distinctive Oldsmobile sound and eagerly pulls the slick coupe around without ever seeming to work very hard. A heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic transmission has no problem keeping up and the original rear end still plants the power. It appears that the gas tank was recently replaced and although the chassis isn't detailed for show, it's as tidy as the engine bay and ready for another round of cruising the streets. Perennially attractive Oldsmobile Rally wheels are color-matched to the body and carry 225/70/14 Firestone radials at all four corners. The look, the pedigree, and the power all work together to make one of the most compelling muscle cars we've featured recently. The fact that it's also very affordable is merely icing on the cake. Recently serviced and beautifully preserved, it's a seldom-seen bit of '80s luxury that will surely be welcome at any major event. Even in the '80s you didn't see many of these running around. Sure, lots of Rivieras and Eldorados, but the car that started the whole front-wheel-drive revolution remained elusive. This one has obviously been something special for its owner since the day it came home from the dealership, and aside from service and maintenance parts, it's entirely original and extremely well preserved. The white paint shines better than any General Motors paint in 1983 has a right to. Those long doors fit well and don't sag, the hood sits flush with the handsome peaked fenders, and even the padded half-roof looks virtually new. It isn't perfect, but it is as close to perfect as General Motors was building in 1983, and if you want a car that's a slam-dunk in preservation class judging, I don't think many can be better than this Toro. Sparkling chrome, nice plastic filler panels (these always crack with age, but on this car they're almost new), and unmarked glass all speak to a car that's been cherished rather than merely owned. White with burgundy leather was a popular color combination in the '80s and it will never go out of style. As Oldsmobile's top-of-the-line machine, it was loaded with features and amenities that would equal its Cadillac siblings, and some would argue that its rarity makes it the more desirable car. The bucket seats show only the most minor signs of use, the carpets are like new, the door panels don't even have a dent from the driver's elbow, and the gauges are crisp and bright. Things like A/C, power windows and locks, power seats, a tilt wheel, and cruise control are all included and it all works! If you drove a GM car in the '80s, you'll find the AM/FM/cassette stereo familiar and it sounds decent thanks to heavy soundproofing in this luxury coupe. The back seat has probably never been used and obviously this car has always been stored indoors as there is no fading or cracking on any of the plastic parts. And the trunk is finished as original with what appears to be the original spare tire still stowed up front. Toronados used a 305 cubic inch V8 that would eventually be used throughout GM to power luxury machines like the Cadillac Brougham, and for good reason: it's smooth and torquey. Everything under the hood is original and very nicely preserved, with only routine service items being replaced over the years. It has been recently tuned up by a GM dealer so it runs superbly and the A/C was converted to R134a refrigerant. A quick detail job would make it ready for show, but it's also going to be hard to resist driving this one just because it works so well. The chassis is entirely original and shows extremely well, and even the exhaust system is still OEM. Factory wire wheel covers are surrounded by 205/75/15 whitewall radials that might be only the second set of tires this car has ever worn! Extensively documented with a build sheet, original window sticker, and service receipts, this is a fantastic survivor that's also a rather rare beast.
