This AMG was recently imported from Japan and shows just 79k kilometers (~49k miles) from new. This pre-merger car has strong cosmetics inside and out, and benefits from several recent services including new shocks, a valve adjustment, and fresh fluids throughout. The dark grey finish shows well in pictures,. Unlike US-delivered cars of this period, the vast majority of which had contrasting lower body cladding, this car is a uniform color and finish from top to bottom. The forged AMG monoblock wheels are in good condition and some curbing on the photos on the left front wheel has been refinished. The Mercedes grille and emblem are both color matched to the bodywork, and the headlights and turn signals are correct for a non-US car. Apart from several items fitted by AMG when the car was made, the interior of this W124 is standard. The steering wheel is shared with the AMG Hammer, and was made exclusively for AMG. The gauges have white faces for improved visibility. The carpets and upholstery appear well-cared for front and rear. The seats are standard W124 items, rather than the multi-way adjustable sport seats used in the Hammer. Some cracking is present in the dash wood, most noticeably on the center console in between switches. The overall finish appears to be good, with a deep gloss and little apparent fading or discoloration. All interior features work correctly, including the power windows and A/C. The rear cabin appears little used, with clean, taut leather that looks well cared for under studio lights. The W124 did not receive a 3.2L engine from Mercedes until the early 1990s, though AMG’s package for the M103 opened the 3.0L SOHC inline-six up to 3.2L. The modifications included an overbore, longer stroke, and more aggressive cam with solid lifters. These modifications gave the car a substantial increase in power, up from 188 horsepower in a non-catalyzed M103 to a full 230 horsepower. Since coming to the US, this car has been serviced with fresh fluids, a valve adjustment, and new shocks at all four corners. The underside of the car is clean and straight, while the original AMG exhaust is fitted including its chromed tips. While the 3.2 may produce less power than the Hammer, this car offers the same appearance with less weight over the nose for improved handling. This car offered with partial service history and all books and manuals in leather AMG pouch. This car offers an interesting contrast to the 500E that was built on the same platform. This car is feels faster and more balanced compared to 500 E. The later merge AMG cars came later, and not offer same quality ,noise and feel as a pre merge cars. Price for this being equal to good 500E but any real Mercedes enthusiast will choose this AMG without question, unless he could find and afford the real Hammer. I MEAN IT; THE FIRST PERSON THAT INVESTIGATES THIS CAR WILL BUY IT, AND I SAY THAT AS SOMEONE THAT BUYS 25+ AMG MERCEDES EACH YEAR. IT’S A TRULY SPECTACULAR CAR BOTH COSMETICALLY AND MECHANICALLY, AND LOADED WITH OPTIONS WHICH IS RARE FOR AN E55. With 469HP, it’s like a warp drive for the highways of planet earth. This is a two-owner E55 with a clean carfax. No paint or bodywork EVER. This E55 has its full service history at authorized MB dealers, and an independent cosmetic inspection gave it a 4.2 score out of a possible 5.0!! EVERYTHING this car ever needed was done with an open checkbook at the Mercedes dealer. This E55 has gone through multiple pre-purchase inspections. No stories, so please read on to find out more. -- Here she is in all her glory -- Please let me stop you now if you are looking for an inexpensive, needy, or average E55 AMG like most of them for sale. This is not that car. I am hired by clients to buy over twenty AMG and 600-series Mercedes each year, and I can tell you there is ONE thing I look for: a car in meticulous original cosmetic condition with a good service history and an excellent current inspection report. This is that car. Ask any other seller if they will take their ten year old E55 for a full inspection and disclose whatever is found. The answer will be “NO”. Please understand, with these cars, you get what you pay for. I paid top-dollar to get this car, because it was nicer than ALL other E55’s I looked at for cosmetics and mechanicals, and then I made it even better. There are beater E55’s, nice E55’s, and mint E55’s. This one is mint…..period. Here's the deal: -- This is a 2005 E55 AMG in 040 black over 251 charcoal leather interior, with matching charcoal carpets, alcantara headliner, and Designo brown burlwood trim. This E55 has tons of options. It has only 44,xxx miles, looks like a million bucks, with no rust, oxidation, or wear anywhere. This car was LOVED and it shows, with a clean carfax as well. There is not a single dent, scuff, or scratch anywhere…it’s unreal. -- -- Exterior 9.8 out of 10 - Amazing overall ORIGINAL condition paint, body, glass, and trim. No scratches. No dents. No scuffs. This E55 looks amazing, with a deep shine to the black paint that's like looking into an endless mirror. This car looks great even under fluorescent light in a garage. Imagine getting a 10 year old car with no swirl marks or spiderwebs in the paint….amazing! -- -- The lower side-body moldings are in great shape. The chrome, rubber, glass, and trim is all excellent and original. No oxidation, fade, wear, etc. as you’d expect of a 10 year old car. Look at the body panels.....they are laser straight. -- -- This E55 is loaded, with an original MSRP of more than $80K! Options include, multi-contour front seats, cooled/heated front seats, four-place climate control, COMAND navigation, alcantara headliner, HID headlights, power moonroof, iPod input, and more. Wow!!!! -- -- It currently wears 18” MB AMG wheels, all true and in very nice condition with some surface curb marks. The tires are very low on tread, but at the BIN price I will include a near- new set of Continental all-season performance tires in 245/45/18 front and 265/40/18 rear with 75%+ tread remaining. This E55 goes arrow-straight down the road at high speed with no shimmy, pull, or anything else. -- -- Interior 9.9 out of 10 - The interior overall including all seating and door leather, seat padding, dash, console, wood, and carpets are in fantastic original condition. No dash cracks, carpet rips, zero wear of any kind on the leather. Everything looks and feels new. This is not the typical worn E55 - this car was garaged every day of its life and it shows. No refinishing either, this is the ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED interior. There is no dullness or fade to anything…it’s spectacular. All wood trim is bright and glossy without and cracks or fading. -- -- The door panels and wood trim are also in great shape, like the rest of the car. -- -- Even the trunk and spare are mint. -- -- Electrical 10 out of 10 - All lights, switches, radio, windows, wipers, seat motors/memory, and power mirrors work perfectly. The service history is documented at the MB dealer, and is extensive including recent front suspension work (control arms, steering knuckles, bushings, and more), alignment, spark plugs, Mobil 1 oil changes, and much more. The HVAC system is fast to respond, and operates perfectly with scalding hot heat and ice-cold A/C. Seat heaters and seat A/C all working properly. -- -- Mechanical 10 out of 10 - Engine starts, idles, runs, and revs to redline in every gear smooth and strong. Transmission is smooth yet very aggressive, and downshifts eagerly to catapult you into the next county. No abrupt engagement, just silky smooth shifts. She runs at high speed with no vibrations or noises. There are no leaks....NONE. -- -- This E55 has passed THREE inspections with flying colors. A pre-purchase overall inspection with paint meter and test drive, a suspension/brake/wheel/tire/exhaust inspection, and an MB specialist shop has gone over the car as well. After their final and thorough inspection for any problems, she’s ready to roll. -- -- Look at the condition of the engine bay in this 2005 E55! -- -- Engine is VERY VERY strong and VERY eager to run, transmission smooth and ready to drop down two gears at your command to rocket you past slower traffic.
