This was my dream car since I was a teenager. Two foot surgeries and two kids later and I know I'll never drive it like it should be driven, if at all. Every year I tell myself I need to either start driving it again or sell it. Every fall comes around and I did neither. Time to pull the trigger. So here it goes... If you're looking at this, you know what an S4s is. Last of the four cylinders. Best one they made. Rare dark green color (Empire Green) with Magnolia (light beige or cream) interior. Looks black in the shade, metallic green in the sunlight. One just like this sold a few weeks ago. Listing stated that only 7 of this color combination were made. Can't confirm that number, but I know it is rare. The car was purchased from MidRivers Lotus in St. Charles, Missouri. I was told it was a trade-in from a Silicon Valley exec who bought a new V-8. Had 39,000 miles and change when I bought it, All required service through the 43,500 mile "A" Service had been completed. Service records from prior owner were provided at the time, but they were lost during a move. Thought purchasing through a Lotus dealer would mean everything was perfect, but the car did have a couple of issues. There is a slow electrical drain. Seems pretty common for British cars. The dealer worked on it but never solved the problem. I started using a trickle charger, then decided it was easier to just disconnect the battery all together. Brakes and rotors were brand new when I bought the car 3,000 miles ago, but pressure was not releasing when they warmed up and they would eventually lock up. Fixed by the dealer but may have been some excess wear on the brakes. Still only 3,000 miles on them. During one repair/service visit, the dealer left the car out on their lot rather than keeping it in the garage as was customary for prior visits. It was keyed over night. The dealer's insurance paid for it, but it did require most of the car to be repainted. Paint was done by Central Auto Body in St. Louis using the same DuPont paint used at the factory. Matched it perfectly. Then I moved a few years ago. With the garage full of moving boxes and other junk, I clipped the left rear fender on the garage door. Detail in pictures provided. It is a scrape, not a dent. Shouldn't take much to fix it. There is a small tear at the seam on the drivers seat. It's several inches long, but right on the seam so you can't really see it in the pictures. It's the seam that would be under the drivers left leg. Other than that the interior is in great shape. Electric windows work, but are a but sluggish toward the top. Rear view mirrors can sag. Simple to tighten, but they sag again eventually. The drain in the left headlight well got plugged up and there is still some standing water in it. I think that covers known issues. During the first few years of ownership, the car was driven regularly. Kids came along and it wasn't driven much, but it did get out of the garage once a week so I could get my lawnmower out and taken around the block. I moved and don't mow my lawn anymore. Now it only gets out of the garage a few times a year for garage cleaning or just to give it a bath and let it run for a while. So, it's been sitting a lot for the last 5 years. Haven't even updated the tags, but it has been garaged and covered. Hopefully I haven't spent too much time focusing on issues rather than talking about what an amazing car it is. Turns heads like a Ferrari for a fraction of the cost. Really quick off the line, pushing you back it your seat like few production cars do. Amazing handling - fun on the winding country roads. Comes with manual and tools. The identical S4s that sold a few weeks ago sold for $25,500 (see completed listings). This one has 35,000 fewer miles and, from the description, a better interior. Offset that with the fact that this one has been mostly idle for a few years and will need at least some basic service and the scrape painted. I think I'm being pretty conservative by listing at $23,900. Car is sold "as is." I am a private seller, not a dealer. I cannot offer any type of warranty. Buyer responsible for transportation, but seller will make reasonable effort to meet any trucking company at a nearby location more conducive to loading a vehicle. $1000 deposit via PayPal within 48hrs. 1995 was the last year of the Lotus Esprit S4 Turbo 4-cylinder and only 46 cars were imported into the US! This makes this Lotus super rare as you just won't find many for sale or available. In fact they made more of the S4S model which keeps the S4 even rarer. Even the color is rare...Ibiza Blue with Red leather interior. Chrome wheels, power windows and doors, 5-speed with upgraded clutch line for easy shifting. Car only has 17,500 original miles. New tires, full complete service by certified Lotus mechanic and runs great. Comes with both painted and glass roof panels. Up for sale is my 1995 Lotus Esprit S4S. Silver Exterior/Gray Interior. This is the last 4 cylinder esprit and they packed the most horsepower they could in it before switching to the V8. Very rare and desirable model among the Lotus community. 5 Speed. Clean Title with no accident history. 54k miles. All maintenance is up to date. Just got back from a $4k service at Karden Automotive in Walnut Creek (Timing Belt, and a bunch of misc items) to get it working just right. It has two tops (glass moon roof and hard top). Brakes are good. A/C blows cold. It has rare black oz esprit wheels which really make it pop. Current California registration paid through 2016. Clean title in hand. As far as cosmetic issues: there is a small spot on the rear spoiler where it was touched up with paint at some point and a little road rash from rocks on the front spoiler area (see pics in photos). Stunning Black low mileage 1995 Esprit S4. One of only 82 Imported to the U.S. in 1995. 5-Speed Manual Transmission and Removable Roof Panel. The S4 is considered to be one of the best Esprit’s ever made. This car is being offered for sale by the estate of the current owner with only 19,940 miles on it. Purchased in September of 2007 with only 14,500 miles on it and adding only 5,400 gentle miles in the past 7 years. This car was only used when the sun was out and never driven in the rain or snow. All electrics work as intended. The A/C and heat operate as new. The clutch and Brembo brakes are perfect. The paint shines bright with only minor and very few imperfections as would be expected for a 20 year old car. No paint or body work and only the very lower panel (below the front bumper) shows some scratches from being scraped, (they are very low and hard to notice, would require only minor sanding and paint to make perfect, the panel is not damaged) See pictures. The Bumpers are perfect. 3 of the wheels have very minor scratches from curbs, (see pictures) and the original tires will need to be replaced soon. The driver’s seat will probably need to be re-upholstered as the left bolster of the seat back is worn. That is the bad. The car drives as new. It is fast, tight, rattle free and handles like it is on rails. The engine and its turbocharger perform as when new.

One of the last of the 4-cylinder cars in perhaps the best color. In the early ’90 a fellow, Doc Bundy, was racing Esprits with success. Many of the handling improvements he developed were incorporated into the S4 resulting in a car that is immensely enjoyable to drive. Many regard the ’94 & ’95 S4 and S4S as the best of the Esprits. I've owned this one for 8 years. There is no known damage history and it's in stock condition. The engine was rebuilt about 4k miles ago by an expert engine builder. This builder has assembled several engines for me over the years and, without exception they all have exceeded expectations. It was rebuilt because the timing belt broke and the valves hit the pistons. The rebuild included a new crankshaft, exhaust manifold and JE pistons with ceramic &Teflon coatings. The engine accessories (starter, alternator, water pump and A/C compressor) were replaced with new units. The turbo was rebuilt and inter-cooler water pump was replaced with an electric unit. The clutch was replaced when the engine was done. A/C blows cold air, the radio play and there are no known problems. Note the V8-style valance and dual exhaust. Cosmetically, the car is in very nice condition. There are a few minor defects in the paint that can be seen in the photos. The driver’s seat shows the typical wear on the bolsters. There is a 3M invisible bra on the front. The scuff marks seen on the driver’s side door sill are only in the 3M material that was applied here also. The driver’s side door gasket has minor damage from shoes hitting it on entry and exit. The cigarette lighter is missing and the liner on the removable top is loose but is intact. The headlight mechanisms were gone through recently. The wheels were blasted and powder-coated in a silver/grey color with just a hint of green. The brakes were done a while back with upgraded rotors and the anti-lock brake accumulator replaced. The tires, Yokohama S-Drives, are about half worn. Smog test just done and passed with low emissions. While I admit I've run it up through the gears a few times and sometimes push the limits in the corners the car has been well treated. We've gone a few road-trips but mostly it has been an occasional around-town driver. I've not raced it or taken it to the track. Truly a nice car that can be driven in confidence. Comes with the complete factory workshop manual, the leather-bound owner’s book and a custom-fitted color-matching cover. The car is a joy to drive. And easy to live with. This is a great buy for someone. REGARDING THE AUTOCHECK REPORT: There are NO title or lien issues with this vehicle. I paid cash for it in 2007 and never had any kind loan or lien on it. There also seems to be some concern about the odometer reading; I have no reason to think the number reported is not correct. AUTOCHECK told me the mileage reported to MN in 2002 was incorrect and I needed to contact the MN DMV or provide evidence of the error. I guarantee the title is clear and the mileage is correct.
