Thanks for stopping by to check out this 1992 Lincoln Town Car Cartier. A nicely kept car. Low 77k miles and recent service. Heavily optioned and ready to drive. Please be patient. There are a lot of photos on this listing so you can see as much of the car as I can show. This is a 1992 Lincoln Town Car Cartier. An AUCTUAL MILES Tampa Bay area car that was traded by an older couple. I can’t say that I’m in love with this, but for what it is it’s a pretty darn nice example of it. With it being an a no rust Florida car, its going to give the new owner decent service . If you’ve owned one of these before, or are a Lincoln person looking to add to their collection on a budget, this could be a ride for you! It was in pretty nice shape when it came to the workshop, and we have taken it to the next level with cleaning, adjusting and checking. It did not need much in the way of mechanical work , as it looks like folks did not neglect or abuse it. Although its been more than a few years, I remember these being a mainstay of the airport “car service” and limo fleets from when I was a “corporate weenie” The fleets would be full of these, and they ran them hard, often keeping them in service darn near 7 days a week and running up 300,000 or more miles. With reliable powertrains and a huge trunk, these were perfect for the job. Today, they are a period piece, and this one will be eligible for the 25+ year plus car shows in just a few months. This one should do pretty well as it is, and with a little extra, its should place in the Preservation Class on a regional basis. The Cartier edition had a large number of standard features and a few optional items, some of which this car has. Has the dual exhaust in addition to standard features such as keyless entry, an upgraded interior, BBS wheels, and a really plush interior. All the options work, from the headlight sentinel to the remote trunk, and everything in between. Original paint, original interior working load leveling, its there. An it is essentially rust free, shiny and runs as it should. Read on for more descriptive information Exterior. Mocha Frost Pearl. It is as far as I can tell the original paint.. A few minor exterior flaws which I have tried to picture in detail. If you can not make them out here is a summary: 1.The clear coat and the chrome strip on the rear bumper have both seen better days. Its one panel of the assembly, and it should be an easy fix. A roll of “Chrome Tape” and an X-acto knife should fix the chrome, and the missing clear coat had not impacted the underlying color of the panel 2.There is a small dimple at the top of the left passenger door, and no paint is missing. Might be a job for a Paintless Dent Removal professional 3.A small scrape on the right front fender right next to the turn signal/side marker light. LENS is fine Otherwise , all of the trim is intact, all of the glass is nice, the lenses are not yellowed or cracked. Looks a lot better than most of what is on the road today that has had its registration renewed a couple of times. .. Take a view of the photos and feel free to ask questions. The Interior. Its all there in its tan leather and cloth split front bench seat , column shifted glory. The dash in uncracked, . The upholstery is in really good overall condition, as are the door panels, headliner, visors and such. All of the interior toys and controls work as they were designed to, and has no funny smells or unpleasant odors. Near as I can tell, there are no signs of heavy tobacco use. If I was going to nitpick, I’d point to the following 1.The radio is a replacement. 2.The driver’s door control switch panel for the seat, locks, mirrors and windows shows a little wear . That’s pretty much it. A little patina on the leather, but it really does not get much better Drivetrain. This is a 4.6 l V8 with a 4 speed automatic. Starts right up, idles smooth, shifts well, stops decently, runs cool with good oil pressure. NO SMOKE, no funny smells. All of the controls work, tracks straight and pretty much does all of the things that its supposed to do. The ride is soft and controlled. I wonder why folks named it “Town Car”, as it is most happy floating down the Interstate, doing 70 with the A/C on eating up the miles at 24mpg. Its by no means a “sports car”, but the V8 has more than enough power to more than keep up with traffic. Folks have put several thousand miles on the vehicle since it came to us, with no funny stuff. A/C and heat work, cruise control works, power windows smooth. And yes, you can see over the steering wheel. I do mostly Volvo, Saab, and VW cars, and those folks are pretty particular so we went over the car’s mechanics pretty closely to make sure it’s a turnkey car for the next owner. In the workshop, it just got a few things to freshen it up for you: •Oil and Filter change. Was due on a time, not miles basis. It has since consumed NO measurable amount of oil. •A fresh set of tires. The old ones were not worn out, but they were aged out. The whitewalls are tough to find!. •A newer battery. The one that came out was old enough to tell you how to work a smartphone, and while it was still functional, I kind of figured it was in the “days are numbered” mode. There were NO stored OBD I codes found when we put it together with an “old school” code tool.. Its got a spare which looks good. Has all of the tools. A full set of keys and Has the books abd a manual for the radio Tires are about 95%, and are date coded well within safety recommendation (low mile vehicles of this vintage often have tires that look good but are 10+ years old) and are all the same brand and size.. Mounted on factory BBS wheels . (These wheels in a different bolt pattern trade for over $200 EACH!) Title in hand. I’ll be putting a few more miles on it over the next week just to make sure I have not missed anything it needs to be the best it can be so we’ve added a few miles to the listing. Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions that I get on my listings: What’s the worst thing about this car? Kind of wish it had a few less miles, and a couple fewer cosmetic flaws, but hey its 25 model years old. Other than that, nothing known that has not been described or pictured in the listing that I am aware of. What’s the best part of the car? It is an inexpensive special interest car that does everything its supposed to do. Could I drive this car back home Can’t see why not. This is a NO Reserve Auction and the starting bid is not unreasonable given the condition of this car. It’s a used car, not an investment in automotive art SO IF YOU ARE REASONABLE, I WILL BE TOO . Please take an opportunity to look at the photos, ask any questions that you might have, and then feel free to press that bid button……… A Few words about condition, business philosophy, and why I’ve listed on E-Bay since 2001. I try to accurately describe the listed vehicle to the best of my ability, but like you I am human, and assure you that I will not hide any known defects that materially impact the vehicle. Please don’t assume….it’s a good way to be disappointed…the only ‘stupid’ questions are the ones not asked, and after the auction is over is not the time to determine whether or not y’all want the listed vehicle! Even NEW CARS might need some attention…like the battery on my wife’s 2017 car whose battery died 12 days after it was purchased, so if you have any doubts, feel free to make arrangements to have the vehicle inspected while its “at the auction” or ask for a copy of the inspection report which I will gladly provide to all bidders. Also, please feel free to contract with an independent concern to have the car third party inspected…I’ll be glad to share my experience about them, but please don’t ask me to recommend one over another…some are better than others…some do an excellent job, some are a waste of time and money. Spending every last dime you have on a used car with an expectation that it will give you faithful service with no additional expenses for the next 10 years probably is not a real good idea, so use your head, spend within your means, and leave a little in reserve for a ‘rainy day’. I try very hard to use objective terms in the listings, and where possible, can provide quantitative data on things that can be measured without taking the car apart, so if you have questions on things like tread depth, compression readings, voltages and the like, feel free to ask and if its possible to provide the data I will. However, please keep in mind that terms like Excellent, Mint, Good, etc. are subjective terms that vary from situation to situation, and from individual to individual, so if in doubt please refer to the photos AND feel free to ask detailed questions. Remember that this is a USED CAR!!!!. While I try my best to make sure each unit has been carefully described, you should be aware that they are not in "as new" condition, except where the addition of new parts has been indicated. There can be undiscovered flaws, but each car has been gone through using a two page checklist, a daily use evaluation (that means I’ve actually driven it, in traffic, just like an owner might use it) , and an overall visual inspection. Cars with built in diagnostics such as OBDII are also read, and identified flaws corrected. We don’t just shut the light off, we find out why the light came on in the first place so. Each car has been given a check of all safety systems, all operational controls are functional, and any needed repairs or replacements are performed unless otherwise indicated. Unless otherwise indicated, these cars are being “AS IS”, WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. To make things really clear, if its not as described, I’ll bust my butt to make it right before it goes out the door, but if you blow a hose while doing 90 mph 6,000 miles down the road and warp the head ‘cause you decide to make it to the next exit 26 miles south and expect me the pick up the tab, please don’t bother to bid…neither one of us will be happy…. While I do my best to offer the best cars that I can, I am not able to predict the future (If I could, I could see a job at the Federal Reserve...), hence the "no warranty" provision of the transaction. If you feel the need to find a warranty of some sort, there are some excellent providers that can be found on the 'net, along with some not so good ones. I don't offer them since some companies that offer some sort of protection do so at a cost that I don't think is reasonable and offer as "incentive" for the seller as much as 50% of the purchase price! I'm here to offer cars, some interesting parts, and some other auto related items and leave it at that. I’m not in this to lose money, or to rob folks, just to try to keep busy, earn a decent living, and make it to retirement without having to dip into my savings from my days in Corporate America. I stick with marques I’m familiar with, so as to minimize potential problems, and source the cars from reliable sources. Most of them come from New Car dealers, but some come from private party referrals, and every once in a while a car that was traded in by a local customer who’s needs have changed. As a matter of policy, if I don’t have the title AND a history for the car, you won’t see it on e-bay!! Life’s too short to lie, and while one person’s trash …… I’ll try hard to call ‘em as I see ‘em. One of the things that drives me nuts is the following.. Folks buy a car based solely on price, and then take it to a NEW CAR dealer or fancy emporium, pay OVER retail price for parts (IN ONE CASE MORE THAN 4 TIMES THE GOING PRICE!!!!), DOUBLE the going local rate for labor by a quality independent shop and them come back to me feeling that they have been ripped off. New car stores exist to sell and service NEW CARS. If you feel the need to have the “new car” experience, its there for you. Like the “free coffee”, solid mahogany doors to the rest rooms and the fancy carpet in the waiting room are “no charge”??? Just hope you find the one person in the place who actually cares. Thanks for viewing this Very Nice 2001 Cartier Town Car. Car is equipped with all the goodies. Newer Cooper Touring tires, front and rear pads and rotors, front and rear shocks, and a fresh PA safety inspection with emissions. Car is extremely nice both top and bottom. Minimal interior wear as the pictures show. No major body flaws, but it does have some paint chips here and there. Car runs smooth, quiet, and very comfortable. Car has the upgraded Cartier option which makes standard the gold trim, heated front seats, wood and leather steering wheel with controls, chrome plated wheels, Cartier emblems and unique seat stitching. Car has power moon-roof, trunk mounted CD player, auto-dimming side and rear view mirrors, illuminated entry system, key-less entry, external thermometer, traction control, ABS brakes, auto level control. Every option works just as it should. Starts, idles, and runs flawlessly. On a trip to North Carolina this summer I averaged 25.8 MPG. Air is ice cold. Large 4 golf bag trunk. Anybody that knows anything about these cars realizes how reliable they are. There are ads all over the internet selling these car with 300,000 miles and more. Some are asking more for those cars than I am for this one. If you like nice older smooth riding cars that won't break your wallet to buy and maintain, then this is your car. This Town Car is the "L" version that is a Lincoln factory 6" stretch that gives it the most legroom in it's class. Mechanically in great condition. The interior is in excellent condition and the exterior has no dents but the paint has some checking on the hood and small scratches thoughout. The Michelin Defender tires have less than 10K miles on them, and the brakes about 30K. This car has been fleet maintained with very high standards.
