1966 International Scout 800: The Scout 800 improved on many of the Scout 80’s features, by including a reworked interior, an improved dashboard and heater, and featured three new engines: a 196 4-cyl, or 232 I6 and in March of 1967 a 266ci V8 was also introduced. Styling changes outside included a new grill with the International wordmark and the IH logo being relocated to the hood, as well as new door handles and an easier to use tailgate system. 1966 introduced a new removable fiberglass or soft top option with an upgraded interior, called Sportop, as well as the introduction of the Champagne Series high-end option for the 800 model series. If you own a beach house or a lake house or even some land in the country, you know it is always great to have a simple and inexpensive "grocery getter" vehicle handy. Maybe you are looking for a unique and inexpensive vehicle for that first time driver to learn how to "drive stick." No matter scenario you can envision, you just can't go wrong with this classic little Scout 800. Minor cosmetic repairs and a recent tune-up have been completed to make this a vehicle you can jump right in and drive. This 1966 International Harvester Scout 800 Pickup features the 196ci 4cyl engine (86 horsepower) and 4 Speed transmission. Much of the interior has been replaced with new fuel, water temp, oil pressure, and battery gauges, new seat and armrests, and a bedlined floor. The previous owner also installed a new Dual stereo unit with AM/FM/Cassette and AUX input and subs hidden in the toolbox in the bed. The removable roof shown in the photos is currently in rough shape and will need some work to be mountable and functional.
