1973 Honda Civic two door hatchback. 1.2L 1169cc motor and 4 speed tranny. Starts, runs and drives down the road. I have driven 50+ mph, but would not recommend a long trip. Here's all I know:Previous owner said it was stored in his garage for 14+ years. I've only had it for a month or soI rebuilt the carb (full breakdown), no adjustments made afterwords. Test drive in video is after the rebuildNew battery, ignition coil, cap, rotor, plugs, torque rod bushing (block end), belt (not installed), original fit fuel filter, air filter. Brake master cylinder was replaced new a few years agoOil and coolant both looked clean and levels were goodI drained fuel tank and blew out the lineLights and signals work. Wipers work. Speedo works. Fuel and temp gauge I believe are working (see video)Interior is fair at best, but does the jobBody panels appear mostly rust freeFloor boards have had poor repairs made. It works, but is far from a long term fixGlass all looks good. Most gaskets will need to be replaced to drive in the elementsSteers nice and straight. Shocks/struts and misc. bushings will need attentionWatch video for details and study all photos closely. Hi,I am selling my 4-speed manual, 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback (STD model). This car has been used mostly as a weekend car. Mostly for trips to the markets and errands, and some long drives from Boston to NY on some occasions. The car has never broken down on me. Nowadays, I either walk or take my bike to work so I have no need for a car now.I purchased it from an older individual in late 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland. It has been in my possession since then. This car has been a wonderful car. It has been trouble-free and an absolute blast to drive with its very light chassis and great feedback from its manual steering. It also can haul lots of stuff with the back seats down. When moving from Baltimore to Boston, I moved all my stuff in the back of this car, and it wasn't a problem at all. It's also great on gas mileage, at least 35mpg.Engine:- The engine has been well maintained and operates very well. It runs smoothly and does not use any oil, does not smoke, or make any unusual noises. It idles perfectly. - Recently, the stock (from 1991 factory!) exhaust and muffler finally gave up. You will need to replace the muffler and the pipe that runs post-catalytic converter. I have taken those parts off. The car is driveable, but a bit loud. Transmission:- The manual transmission shifts perfectly. The manual transmission fluid has been replaced and serviced about an year ago. The clutch is firm and grabs well. The shifter is also firm and buttery-smooth. Air conditioning:The AC is non-functioning. The car has been previously retrofitted to use R134A at the dealership, but appears that the AC compressor has gone bad. I haven't had the need to use the AC, but it is serviceable. I took off the serpentine belt that runs with the AC and the engine seems peppier. Suspension/wheels/tires:The car has been aligned about an year ago. There is one newer tire on the car which I bought to replace a tire with a nail in it. Otherwise, the other 3 are due for replacement soon. Exterior:- The color is white. All the paintwork is original, except for a repair job on the right, rear wheel well area. The patchwork is coming apart. There is also some minor surface rust areas in that area and the back trunk as well. These areas can be patched up. - There is a ding on the lower part of the driver's side towards the wheel well.- The rear bumper is also slightly misshapen towards the right. - There are also some minor dents and dings on the driver's side fender and the hood. There appears to be a ding on the roof, which I suppose an acorn fell. - There is a long, surface scratch across the windshield. It hasn't grown since I purchased the car. It is along the track of the windshield wipers. Interior:- The interior is blue. All of the seats are in perfect condition, except for the driver's side. There is some slight tearing on the side and middle. - The carpet and mats are clean and original to the car. - The dashboard has one small crack in the middle between the windshield and the rectangular block off plate. - The passenger's side front door panel has a small tear. Audio:- I have installed a Sony CD receiver and speakers. I also have the original, factory Honda radio/cassette deck which I will include.- All radio functions operate as designed. I installed a new set of speakers in the front doors, the originals were defective. No modifications were made to the door panels. Some tidbits:- Since this is the STD model, there were some features that were not included apart from the DX model. I purchased and installed a dash cluster (which included the speedometer), a clock, and a back trunk light. - The car actually has about 180k miles. When I switched out the new cluster, the mileage was different. I didn't bother to change the numbers in case it messed with the mechanism of the mileage counter. - Apart from these items, the car is stock.Shipping/Payment:- I have a clear title in hand. Buyer will have to arrange for their own shipping or transportation of this car. - A non-refundable $500.00 deposit via paypal is due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder is due within 7 days of auction end (certified check or cash, no paypal). If no contact is made within 24 hours, I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle or sell it to the next high bidder.- Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle. If you have ever heard the story “Only driven to church on Sundays by a little old lady” this is that car. My mother bought this Civic new in 1986, it only has 45.665 original miles. Completely stock and it’s never been smoked in. Always garage kept. You seldom see Civics in this condition if ever. She quit driving about 3 years ago and the car sat. Things that were recently done: Oil and filter changed. New Distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires. Air filter and both fuel filters. New Sony AM FM CD player and speakers. Things that need to be done: I just installed a new carburetor. It starts right up and idles great but when you give it some gas it bogs down. I suspect that there is a vacuum leak. If you know an Old School Honda mechanic it could be an easy fix. You could drive it around the block but it is not fit for a long trip with the vacuum leak. It had the Rusty Jones rust-proofing treatment done when new but still developed some rust on the rear wheel wells, see pics. Thanks for looking, Pete
