Rugged, dependable, stylish and user friendly are but a few words to describe this 1972 Ford F-100 Ranger. A southern truck with a great look, a torquey 302, and a fun 4-speed, this is cowboy cool at its finest. Scan the long flanks, covered in bright blue, and you'll find a driver-grade paint job that was done not too long ago. Not perfect, but plenty flashy and definitely the kind of truck that gets all kinds of thumbs-up gestures out on the road. There's a nice run of trim down the sides, a bright grille up front and a tailgate applique: this is a top-of-the-line Ranger. Bright windshield moldings, rear window moldings and drip rail moldings speak quietly what the badges on the side of the bed loudly shout. Being a Southern truck, the cab and bed are solid, and the repaint is clean and holding up very well. The '72 only grille is excellent, as are the big F O R D letters on the hood. All lights and lenses are clear and work as they should. Tinted glass is a nice touch which makes for an even more comfortable ride and gives it an updated, sleek look. The bed is clean, wearing a spray-in bedliner and a set of shiny bed rails add the finishing statement. Inside, you'll find a reupholstered seat in factory-style gray fabric taking center stage. Rangers came with carpeting instead of rubber floor mats, and that made a world of difference in cabin noise. The dowdy two-spoke tiller was ditched in favor of a classic three-spoke piece with a fat rim that's easy to grip and a modern AM/FM/CD stereo replaces the original AM unit. The woodgrain on the dash and bright seat hinge covers are other Ranger touches. Matching gray door panels feel more sophisticated than the original vinyl units and speakers have been installed down low in the doors for improved sound. The gauges are original and the lens is a little cloudy, but we have to admit that we like the look and especially the blue-highlighted FORD lettering across the center. And yes, that's a Hurst T-handle shifter for the 4-speed manual gearbox underneath, making this pickup feel a lot more muscular than you'd expect. Under the hood is a 302 cubic inch V8, a big step up from the standard straight six. It's dressed up a bit with a new chrome air cleaner and freshly painted valve covers; after all, who can resist a little bit of the shiny stuff? There's a modern serpentine belt drive setup on the front of the engine, which helps with reliability, and an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor up top for horsepower. The twin I beam suspension and tall 3.00 gears in the 9-inch housing out back make highway travel just as pleasurable. There's a nice rumble from the dual exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers, offering that traditional 5.0 rumble that's become so familiar. The frame and floors are original, untreated and not doctored with in any way; this really is a clean truck. Fat 255/60/15 radials on late-model F150 aluminum wheels set the attitude. Best of all? This truck DRIVES great! They built a lot of F-series trucks over the years, but few survive in this condition, and that's why this one is special. We can't seem to keep them in stock, and while it took a while for them to catch up to their Chevy competition, they represent a great way to get some vintage iron for not a lot of cash. Of course, the biggest problem with collecting old pickups is finding the clean ones. You know, the ones that haven't been beaten, used to push a plow, or just ignored while tools beat up their beds. Fortunately, this F-100 seems to have been treated well for most of its life, so the bodywork is in good order and it doesn't feel used up. The classic red paint job recalls the glory days of early working-class pickups, and this one has just a bit of patina on it that makes it look right at home out by the barn. It was repainted in the 20th century, so it's not a show piece, but it doesn't need any immediate help today and offers a nice, clean, honest look. The grille is shiny, the bumpers are new pieces, and it must have been a real challenge to find a tailgate insert that well-preserved. And speaking of the tailgate, the bed is in good shape with just enough scuffs to let you know it doesn't mind working to earn its keep. Working class accommodations don't have to be crude, but we'll admit that the original vinyl bench needs a new seat cover. Today it's protected by a traditional "Mexican blanket" cloth cover that gives it a familiar look and is actually rather comfortable. Gray carpets on the floor brighten things up and that handsome Grant steering wheel really dresses things up inside. The gauges look like they were borrowed from some '50s show car, offering a complete array of instruments to watch the engine, all surrounded in a stylish bright metal bezel. There are also auxiliary gauges under the dash, just ahead of the big B&M shifter for the C6 3-speed automatic transmission underneath. Even the original AM/FM radio is still in the dash, although it's probably due for an upgrade today. Ford trucks got their own line of engines, with the 390 cubic inch V8 in this one being a very popular choice. But there's no V8 that can't be made better with the addition of things like an pair of aluminum Edelbrock heads, a matching Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor, headers, plus a rumbling dual exhaust system. It's also quite neatly dressed, with a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner and Ford Motorsport valve covers, just for effect. It's got less than 500 miles on the build, and both power steering and brakes are part of the package, so you can drive this truck daily if you feel like it but it'll be hard to keep your foot off the loud pedal once you feel all that torque. The chassis is quite clean, somewhere between immaculate original and an older restoration, but you won't find any rust or structural damage and plenty of evidence that this truck was purely transportation and not a workhorse. It has just the right stance to look sporty, which is surely enhanced by the new Pacer aluminum wheels wearing fresh blackwall radials. The market has definitely noticed these trucks, and with a little polish and elbow grease, this could be a very impressive addition to the field. Of course, that's easy to understand when they were as handsome and rugged as this short bed/regular cab example, which offers an awesome color combination, options like factory A/C, and a great-running 390 cubic inch V8. This vintage hauler offers just the right combination of functionality and flash, and the current condition is a wonderful testament to someone's rather large investment in its restoration. The sinister black paint accentuates the truck's square-jawed look, and it looks like there's no project it can't handle. It also appears that this has always been a super clean original truck, because there's no evidence of panel replacements or metal surgery under the paint, and as a lifelong southern truck, rust is not an issue. All the trim is in great condition, including the cool stainless side molding that stretches the entire length of the truck, accentuating the length of the 6-foot bed. The front bumper is chrome and in excellent shape and the grille with its trademark high-mounted parking lights is instantly recognizable as a Ford from a mile away. In back, there's another shiny chrome bumper and the solid bed has been finished with a non-skid bed liner material, making this truck ready to work or play. Oh, and a set of bed rails gives it a sporty look that's also highly functional. The handsome black cloth interior is so nice it almost hurts your eyes to look at it. The neatly upholstered bench seat wears funky '70s style cloth and shows that even a working class truck can have some style. The seat cover and door panel inserts appear to be brand new, while the gauges and instrument panel are original and in very good condition. Ford gave F100 buyers a comprehensive set of instruments, but in 1974, things like A/C and an automatic transmission were expensive options (fortunately, this truck has both). There's a newer AM/FM/cassette stereo in the center of the dash feeding speakers in the doors and upgraded units behind the seat, and it sounds impressive given the well-insulated cabin. Newer black carpets certainly help with that and look great at the same time. 390 cubic inches is more than sufficient to get this truck moving in a hurry, and the engine bay itself is extremely clean and nicely detailed for a stock look. You'll find nice Ford Blue paint on the engine itself and satin black engine accessories like the massive A/C compressor. New hoses, plugs, wires and other maintenance items were installed during the restoration, so it runs and drives beautifully, with a great V8 rumble to the exhaust, which comes complements of Flowmaster. The 3-speed automatic is virtually bulletproof and the chassis is proof enough that this is a clean truck from down south, one that's had a good amount of cash poured into it. Color-matched wheels with chrome trim rings and centers are exactly the right choice and carry 255/75/15 Firestone radials. If you're of a certain age, you grew up when these trucks were everywhere, but today nice ones are hard to find. Beautifully finished, surprisingly fast, and totally practical, this is an awesome truck at an awesome price. Not heavily modified, not slammed, not wearing 20-inch wagon wheels, it's instead pretty close to what you would have driven home to the farm from the Ford dealer in 1969, and we like that a lot. The medium blue finish is quiet and clean, just the way trucks like this should be. Ford wasn't doing flashy in 1969, this was a working man's tool, not a fashion statement, so it was attractive but not over-done. It's been repainted at some point, and while it has a few signs of age and use, it's about what you'd expect for a working-class hauler. Nice, but not perfect. It actually doesn't look like it's spent its life at hard labor, because the bodywork is straight, the panels line up nicely, and the bed hasn't been bashed. The chrome and stainless trim gives the upscale Ranger its more sophisticated look, particularly with the bright streak along its flanks. A nice-looking grille, shiny chrome bumpers with oversized bumper guards, and a tailgate with big bold FORD lettering all tie it together quite neatly. Basic black is clean and elegant against the blue paint and it sure appears that just about everything inside this truck is recently restored. The door panels and dashboard have been replaced and look almost new, while the black vinyl bench seat is just about how it would have been when it was new, offering a commanding view of the road and good comfort for longer hauls. There's an industrial-strength rubber mat on the floor, which is perfect for a vehicle designed to work in the field, and a few bright splashes of blue help brighten things up a bit inside. There's an AM/FM/CD stereo radio in the dash, but otherwise it's quite stock, from the unique instrument panel to the sliding heater controls. They did a really nice job getting it back into shape. While most of these trucks got torquey inline-sixes, this particular truck sports a snarling 289 cubic inch V8 that's more Mustang than F-Series. There's a Holley 4-barrel carburetor living under the stock air cleaner, which has been dressed up with proper '289' decals. Ford Blue engine enamel on the block stands out against the satin black engine bay and it has nice options like power steering and power brakes so you won't have any problems driving it every day. Shorty headers feed a 2.5-inch exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers, so it's got that familiar Ford small block rumble and the 3-speed automatic transmission always seems to know what gear you need. The undercarriage appears to be wearing a light dusting of undercoating, but nothing heavy enough to hide trouble; it's just there to keep things looking neat. The heavy-duty 9-inch rear end hangs on sturdy leaf springs that actually ride rather well. Rolling stock consists of the factory steel wheels and hubcaps wrapped in fat 255/70/15 blackwall radials. As you can see, there's a lot here that we really like. The work is recent and nicely done, the engine is very strong, and the truck is a blast to drive. Still very affordable and still willing to work now and then, a hobby vehicle like this makes a lot of sense. Arguably the best-looking pickup of the 1950s, the F-100 makes a great-looking hot rod without altering a single panel, and if you crave attention, this truck delivers in a big way. Bright red always works well on pickup trucks, but this one is so red that you need sunglasses to look directly at it. None of the old Ford's beautiful body lines was altered during the build, but everything was expertly restored and fitted, so the gaps are exacting and even the big hood fits evenly with the fenders. It's the kind of detail that you don't notice immediately but gives the whole truck a very high-quality look that stands up to scrutiny. Everything is red, too, including the running boards (which offer Ford step plates) and the grille. All the original chrome and stainless trim was left in place, including the grille highlights, beautiful Ford F-100 emblems on the sides of the hood, and even the taillights, which have their own unique shape. Simple chrome bumpers give it an old-fashioned look and as is the style with all restored pickups, the bed is lined with beautifully finished oak boards and stainless steel rub strips. The Ford's utilitarian interior got a huge makeover, anchored by a set of late-model bucket seats that were cut down and wrapped in supple tan leather. Accentuated by red piping and supported by a custom center console, all pretext of working for a living has been wiped out, creating a luxury-oriented cockpit that's a pleasure to visit. A tilt steering column with a wood-rimmed banjo steering wheel makes it easy to get comfortable, and there's a full set of handsome VDO gauges in the dash. Note how beautifully fitted the headliner is, the custom door panels with integrated power window switches, and the neatly tailored tan carpets with matching floor mats, none of which was inexpensive. A/C was installed under the dash and is so cleanly done that it's almost invisible, leaving the expanse of red dashboard as your connection to the past. There's also an AM/FM radio, but we're guessing you won't use it simply because the engine's note through a set of side exhausts is so much better. A familiar 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 lives under the hood, and with an estimated 330 horsepower on tap, it's a lot of fun to drive. The crate motor is dressed up with chrome valve covers and a matching air cleaner, and you'll note that extreme attention was paid to the underhood areas, so the inner fenders and firewall are beautifully finished. A 4-barrel carburetor on a high-rise intake makes plenty of power and a modern serpentine belt drive system for the accessories makes service easy. The big radiator is cooled by a massive electric fan and as I mentioned, the long-tube headers feed a custom exhaust system with tips just ahead of the rear wheels. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and Ford 9-inch rear end are reliable pieces of the puzzle and it sits exactly right on those chrome Torque Thrust wheels and fat Michelin radials. Beautifully built, expertly finished, and nicely sorted, this is a truck that will attract a lot of attention and still put a big smile on the driver's face. Sure, Camaros and Mustangs are hot, but these are the vehicles that get snatched up within days of being posted, and this 390-powered dark green one is a lot nicer than most. If you grew up in the '70s, trucks very much like this were a common sight, but today? Not so much. Most were mere tools, used up and tossed aside, with Ford all too happy to build you a replacement. This one appears to have followed a different path, perhaps with someone who wanted a little utility on the weekends but who also appreciated a bit of muscle on the daily drive. The dark green paint looks great on the slab-sided pickup, a bit formal and a bit sporty; maybe if Frank Bullitt drove a pickup, this is what it would have looked like. Gaps are very good all around and the bed hasn't been bashed by heavy loads, and as a lifetime southern vehicle, you know that the steel is in good shape. There's plenty of bright trim on this top-of-the-line Ranger, including a stand-up hood ornament, original aluminum grille that's in remarkably good shape, and chrome bumpers that really sparkle against the dark green paint. The bed is in great shape, as I mentioned, and it's covered by a professionally applied spray-in bedliner that shows rather well. The black interior is a very upscale looking place for a '60s pickup truck, particularly with the fresh cloth and vinyl seat cover for the original bench. It's mostly original, with a factory dash full of gauges in a wide oval panel and the secondary controls underneath. This truck also offers factory A/C, which is a nice bonus that uses R134a refrigerant for modern performance and serviceability. The thick steering wheel obviously isn't original but it looks and feels right in the vintage pickup truck. Overhead you'll find a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in a neat custom console, which cleans up the look of the original dashboard quite a bit. Black carpets help with noise and heat control, as does the slight tint on the windows. A strong-running 390 cubic inch V8 provides impressive performance in the relatively lightweight pickup truck. With legendary durability and a great V8 exhaust note, you'll quickly forget about hauling hay when you're behind the wheel. It's equipped with a big Holley 4-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and a familiar MSD coil to help it run its best, while a few chrome dress-up pieces make the big engine bay look racy. An electric fan does a superior job of keeping it cool in traffic, although with that giant radiator, it's probably never been an issue. Underneath there's a C6 speed automatic transmission and a heavy-duty 9-inch rear end, so you can still use this truck as intended and the suspension is pretty much stock so no worries about bottoming-out with a load in back. Well, you're in luck, because this handsome, frame-off restored 1967 Ford F-100 has a great look, a strong-running V8 engine, a few smart upgrades, and is still ready, willing, and able to put in a day's work around the homestead. Two-tone paint treatments were wildly popular with pickup buyers in the '60s, and it's easy to see why. This Ford looks remarkably trim in its red and white combination, almost too stylish to be just a pickup, don't you think? Ford designers were fans of the "less is more" school of thought, and the slab-sided bed is accented with a white rub strip that runs the length of the truck and makes it look sleek and smooth. As a lifelong southern truck, you know it was never a rust bucket, and thanks to a repaint a few years ago, it still looks fresh. Even the bed is dent-free and straight, meaning this was never a truck that needed to work for a living, although the spray-in bedliner means you can put it to work today without a second thought. There isn't much chrome, but things like the bumpers and oversized side mirrors are in great shape and add a bit of sparkle to the industrial-strength Ford. The original bench is still in place, and now wears a reproduction black vinyl seat cover that gives it a great look as well as low maintenance. Details like the door panels and instruments are 100% original and in outstanding condition, and overhead there's a custom consolette with built-in speakers for the AM/FM/CD stereo. The big, red wheel feels substantial and makes wheeling the big Ford pretty easy and there's a trick gauge cluster strapped to the steering column that puts all the auxiliary dials in the same place. The speedometer and fuel gauge are original, and the original AM radio in the dash is there as a place-holder only, mostly because it looks right. Recent black carpets and a new black dash pad round out the upgrades that make this vintage hauler feel very comfortable in today's world. The 352 cubic inch V8 is a relatively rare option in these trucks, and this is indeed a Y-code truck, which means the 352 is how this one was born. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and with a brand new dual exhaust system, performance is lively with or without a load in back. The engine bay is full of freshly restored components and lots of Ford Blue paint, but nothing that alters the truck's basic originality. Details like the accessory windshield washer bag are a neat feature and correct reproduction decals were used wherever possible. The 3-speed automatic transmission shifts easily and spins the original 9-inch rear end which is easily up to the task of any job thanks to 3.25 gears inside. Even the air cleaner and its 352 decal are as the factory made them, more evidence that this truck has always been treated right. Underneath, you'll be astounded by how clean it is, and there's just no evidence of any previous damage, from the Twin I-Beam front suspension to the heavy-duty rear drum brakes. Period perfect Cragar mag wheels add a sporty look and carry staggered 245/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear white letter radials. Trucks rarely get a restoration this nice. Built with an eye towards authenticity but adding a few creature comforts to make it usable every day, this is a hobby vehicle that can definitely earn its keep. Now before you scoff at the price, you need to realize that this is probably the nicest, most highly-optioned F-100 we've ever seen. It runs and drives beautifully and the investment in the restoration is probably two or three times the asking price. Yeah, it's that nice. Everything they say about black paint is true: it's unforgiving. So when they decided to paint this Ford black, well, that probably meant hundreds of hours invested in smoothing and straightening the sheetmetal. Of course, it doesn't hurt that they started with an ultra-clean Southern truck, but you don't get results like this by accident. The paint job is about three years old, and it was a full disassembly, trim-off job so the quality shines through loud and clear. The doors fit well, all the stainless trim was buffed up, and the bumpers and headlight bezels are fresh chrome, so it sparkles. We're especially fond of the simple grille, which has a red stripe through its center that really pops against the black paint and given the condition of the bed, we'd be shocked if this truck ever worked for a living. It's just too straight and shiny. Unfortunately, it's so nice that you might think twice before using it to work, but that's OK, show trucks are still rather rare. The interior is likewise all new, and even though the F-100 was a workhorse, this one has a luxurious feel. The cloth inserts on the black bench certainly help, as do the thick black carpets that help control noise and heat. The headliner is new, too, and the dash pad is probably an excellent original piece that only shows very minor fading, but if that's the biggest demerit in this interior, you're starting to understand just how nice this truck really is. The original instrument panel and gauges are bright and crisply rendered, all framed by that bold three-spoke steering wheel that looks 1960s perfect in this muscular pickup. There's also a very well-integrated A/C system under the dash, and it's fully functional thanks to an R134a refrigerant upgrade. And for entertainment, there's an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the dash, making this a vintage pickup that doesn't feel vintage and could be driven every day. With 428 cubic inches of V8 under the hood, you'll have a hard time resisting putting this Ford on the road, that's for sure! With endless reserves of torque, the big block makes this truck feel muscle car quick and luxury car smooth. And while it's not the truck's original engine, it looks quite correct with Ford Blue paint on the block, an open-element air cleaner with reproduction decals, and that big A/C compressor up top. Wiring and plumbing is exceedingly tidy and it includes power steering and power brakes, which are important on a vehicle this size. The engine is backed by a stout C6 3-speed automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear end, so no worries about breakage and the hardware feels very polished going down the road. Twin Flowmaster mufflers offer s smooth V8 rumble, but the rest of the chassis appears quite stock save for the 15-inch Torque Thrusts and fat blackwall radials. This truck is beautifully finished, very fast, and extremely comfortable. So don't look at it as just another Ford pickup, look at it as one of the very best available anywhere and the price starts to look like a bargain. These were great sellers in 1961 but today you just don't see many of them around and the chiseled good looks of the stepside bed make it stand out. If you're a Ford guy, this one might be worth examining a little more closely. The bright blue paint is recent and the vintage pickup wears it well. The sheetmetal was new in 1961 so the Ford has a fresh look going into the '60s and the metallic paint highlights the many built-in details. Check out the swooping front fender lines and the little jog that the belt molding takes just behind the front fenders. Finish quality is nice with a great shine that will look good at local cruise nights and running down the road, but it's not so perfect that you'll be afraid to use this truck as intended. You'll note that there was a side-mounted spare tire on the driver's side of the bed, but the brackets have been shaved and the look is cleaner, even with the cut-out in the rear fender. Adding a set of wooden stake sides adds to the old-school pickup's charm and the bed is beautifully finished with an oak floor and stainless slats. The tailgate shows a few signs of use and with blue-dot taillights, this one has a period vibe. It sticks to the factory look inside, too, where there's a bench seat, heavy-duty floor coverings, and a few color-matched details. The tan vinyl bench seat adds a bright touch that works rather well with the blue bodywork and the color-matched seat belts are a nice touch. The factory instrument panel covers only speed, temperature, and fuel level and in 1961, Ford trucks were still so basic that even turn signals weren't included (this one has an aftermarket setup). Radios were also optional in 1961 and this one sports a neat wooden block-off plate that ties in with the bed out back. The Hurst shifter makes slicing through the gears a joy, adding a muscle car vibe to the vintage pickup and the fat steering wheel adds a bit of sportiness to the overall look. In the horsepower department, this Ford has been nicely updated with a 302 cubic inch V8 that looks like it was born under the hood. Simple Ford Blue paint, "Powered by Ford" valve covers, and a 4-barrel carburetor add up to a truck that will have people asking whether it came that way from the factory. It's a blast to drive, with a great torque curve and plenty of juice off the line, and thanks to the roomy engine bay, service access is excellent. The giant radiator has no problems keeping things cool and it offers a great-sounding dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers and tips just behind the rear wheels. The underside of this truck is in nice shape, with the manual transmission and recent 9-inch rear end, so it's plenty stout. The engine, clutch, and transmission have less than 500 miles on them and it drives great. Those wheels may seem familiar, but with a gray finish, they look custom and are wrapped in 205/75/15 front and 225/70/15 rear whitewall radials. Unusual and fun to drive, this Ford delivers on all levels and carries a very reasonable price. Trucks are hot right now and this Ford is the reason why. Rugged, dependable, stylish and user friendly are but a few words to describe this 1972 Ford F100 Ranger. A southern truck with lots of options and a cool color combination, this is cowboy cool at its finest. Scan the long flanks, covered in two-tone Seapine Green and Winter Green, the original color combination, and you'll find a very straight pickup. There's a nice run of trim down the sides, a bright grille up front and a tailgate applique: this is a top-of-the-line Ranger XLT. Bright windshield moldings, rear window moldings and drip rail moldings speak quietly what the badges on the side of the bed loudly shout. Being a Southern truck, the cab and bed are solid, and the repaint (which was done quite a few years ago) is clean and holding up well, but this is definitely not a show piece that needs babying. The '72 only grille is excellent, as are the big F O R D letters on the hood. All lights and lenses are clear and work as they should. The bed is clean, wearing the same light green paint as the rest of the truck. Bed rails add the finishing statement and there's a sturdy diamond plate bumper out back that looks like it could tow a locomotive. Inside, you'll find a wide bench seat in two-tone green vinyl taking center stage. Rangers came with carpeting instead of rubber floor mats, and that made a world of difference in cabin noise. The two-spoke tiller has some woodgraining on the horn button to add an upscale air and the door panels are nicely detailed with a bit of chrome trim. The gauges are stock and in good order and even the original AM radio is still in the dash. Unusually, this truck came with A/C from the factory, but few other option, which is always kind of interesting. There's a trailer controller under the dash, which means this hauler is still up for doing a little work, and you can imagine what a cool tow rig this would be for your vintage Ford. Under the hood is a 360 cubic inch FE V8, a big step up from the standard straight six. Essentially a destroked 390, the 360 was filled with beefy parts for strength and effortless torque. Ford Blue gives it a correct look and even the air cleaner and valve covers are OEM, so it's stock throughout. Power steering, power front disc brakes and a solid C6 automatic make city driving a cinch and it is surprisingly easy to handle around town. The twin I beam suspension and tall 3.00 gears in the 9-inch rear end make highway travel just as pleasurable. There's a nice rumble from the dual exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers and a reasonable ride even for a hauler like this. The frame and floors are original, untreated and not doctored with in any way...this really is a clean truck. Fat Uniroyal 225/70/15 radials on late-model F-series wheels with trim rings and set the attitude. Usually, being rare motivates collectors. This truck conquers with ubiquity simply because there were a staggering 389,337 F100 Stylesides built in 1972. That's more trucks than EVERY Mach 1, Boss and Shelby Mustang ever built! Few, however, survive in this condition. Guess again! Someone pulled out all the stops on this 1952 Ford F-1, giving it a traditional look with plenty of vintage horsepower compliments of a stroked small block, 5-speed transmission, and all the creature comforts. If you appreciate performance hidden inside an old-school truck, this Ford is for you! At first glance, this handsome pickup has just the right vintage look to be charming. You don't expect it to be fast, not with looks like that, but it will bring a smile to everyone's face when they see it ambling down the road. The freshened Ford face would become one of the most popular vehicles in history, and despite $60,000 worth of parts and 2,000 labor hours, this one retains its commercial good looks with correct trim and deep black paint. It's laser straight, suggesting that this one was tasked with light-duty work all its life, and when it was freshened someone took their time to get it right, because this sucker is awfully close to flawless. The 'glass fenders glisten with rich black paint, the original hood and doors fit quite nicely, and the bed has been filled with stunning wood planks with a dramatic grain structure and a clearcoat that's about a mile deep. The beautiful (and functional) polished tank in the bed provides a bright contrast that immediately catches the eye. And it's important to know that almost every fastener, washer, nut, and bolt on this truck is stainless steel. There's not much inside that hasn't been seriously reworked. The bucket seats look right at home and come from a late-model so they're comfortable and easy to adjust. The dash is original, but the gauges inside are modern Speedhut units that seem to have been designed just for this application. Of course, as a high-end build, you get effective A/C, power windows and locks, a tilt column, and even cruise control for long-distance hauls. That shifter is linked to a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual gear box, which includes an overdrive, so this little pickup will cruise effortlessly at highway speeds, quite unlike its siblings that run out of breath at 45 MPH. All the wiring is new, and aftermarket turn signals were added, since in 1952 they were still not standard equipment on pickup trucks. A powerful AM/FM/Sirius/iPod stereo provides entertainment, although you may not need it with the way this one dances on the road. The engine is a 351 Windsor V8 punched out to 408 cubic inches. The result it a torque factor that moves this pickup like a modern muscle car. Fuel injection means it starts instantly and idles well even when it's cold, and with that overdrive transmission, fuel economy is reasonable, too. It's packed into that narrow engine bay, but with a custom serpentine belt drive system, the accessories tuck in tight to the block and there's a giant aluminum radiator with electric fans that has no trouble keeping it cool. The chassis is a custom TCI tube frame built just for this truck and incorporates a Mustang II front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, and an air suspension that rides beautifully. The exhaust system is a flat-out work of art ,and the engineering is done right, because this truck cruises like the factory built it. Foose whipped up a set of custom wheels just for this truck and they're wrapped in staggered Michelin Pilot radials. Beautifully rebuilt and extraordinarily fast, this is one vintage pickup that hauls more than tools. With over 2000 man-hours wrapped up in the build, it's every bit as nice as you think it is. However, originally the Ranger represented way more than just a mid-size pickup. From 1965 to 1981, the Ranger designated a stylish trim package for the F-series pickups. Take for example this pristine 1974 Ford F100 Ranger. Priced extremely competitively, restored to near factory conditions, and sold with a load of original documentation, it stands today as an affordable investment grade Ford truck. It's very rare you find a 70's era F-100 Ranger this nice. This one carries factory correct black paint and XLT badges on what appears to be the original sheetmetal, promoting that this truck was cared for from day one. The Ranger package was the top-of-the-line package for the F100 and offered a ton of chrome and stainless trim, including lots of brightwork on the flanks and rocker panels as well as on the tailgate. There's also a matching chrome rear bumper, and a painted bed liner that is ready for duty! Pop open the doors and you'll find a factory correct black cloth interior that is clearly the way trucks were meant to be. It's hard to go wrong with black on black, and it gives this Ranger an upscale feel. The interior is incredibly clean and for the most part appears to be very original. On the floor, the carpets are protected by a FoMoCo branded rubber floor mat that stretches from door to door. The bench seat is covered in what appears to be fresh gray cloth that shows little to no wear at all. Moving to the dash, what look to be the original gauges are all neatly tucked into place and surrounded by wood grain accents. In front of the driver, a three-spoke wood grain steering wheel is a very nice upgrade. Equipped with AM/FM radio and coupled with air conditioning, this truck will keep you comfortable regardless what it is being used for. Underneath the black hood is a torquey 360 cubic inch V8 that provides all the reliable power you could ever want out of a truck. Atop the engine is a massive chrome air filter that feeds the Holley 4-barrel below. On either side of the carburetor you'll find chrome valve covers that rest upon the legendary blue of the Ford block. It's a clean engine bay that appears to have received necessary maintenance when needed. With a swell of torque, and a wonderful sound from the dual exhaust system, you'll enjoy piloting this big truck. And it rolls at highway speeds very nicely. Bolted to the Ford block is a highway ready 3-speed automatic transmission. Equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes this truck just keeps impressing. At the corners you'll find 15" American Racing rims that have been wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial rubber. Sold with the original protect-o-plate, dealer invoice, and owner's manual, this is a truck that you really have to see in person to appreciate. But trust us, vehicles with this pedigree don't last long in our showroom. Not quite a full-fledged collectable, it nonetheless remains a stylish, handsome truck in great colors that can still earn its keep around the homestead. While the other guys drive around in cookie-cutter pickups, you could have something interesting for a fraction of the price. Everything looks better in black, including working-class hardware like this Ranger. It's obviously had a good life, and as a lifelong southern truck, it shows no signs of rust or abuse underneath. The black paint is newer than the truck, of course, and looks pretty good with a great gloss and no signs of botched bodywork underneath. Yes, it's got some age on it, which is impossible to hide with black paint, but the overall look is pretty impressive. And yes, black is the truck's original color, so you don't have to worry about mis-matched door jambs and underhood areas, because it's all equally nice. It's also not afraid to wear a lot of bright chrome trim, including the beefy bumpers, egg crate grille, and side trim that fits neatly into the groove running the length of the body. The bed has a brand new drop-in bed liner so it's not afraid to work on weekends and a soft tonneau cover seals it up and gives the truck a clean overall look. If you do take to driving this Ford every day, the interior is a great place to do it. Freshly upholstered with a matching black seat cover that looks right in the vintage F-100, plus black carpets to help control noise and heat, it is ready to go immediately. There's some ersatz wood trim that actually helps with the ambience, and Ford's familiar square gauges show crisp, bright markings, although they're only watching the basics. There's a modern AM/FM/CD radio in the dash and door panels that have a very upscale look to them with faux quilted surfaces. A sliding rear window provides just the right ventilation, even on warm days and Ford trucks still used vent windows in the door which also help keep it cool inside. The torquey 302 cubic inch V8 topped by a 4-barrel carburetor is the right combination of power and efficiency that you'd look for today. It is a transplant but looks right, offering fresh ignition components and new hoses and other signs of having been properly maintained over the years. A bit of chrome in the usual places dresses things up a bit and with power steering, it's easy to drive no matter the load. Ford's rugged "twin I-beam" suspension isn't the most precise setup ever devised, but it rides nicely and you'll never break it. Out back, there's a 9-inch, which is equally rugged and according to the door tag, it carries 3.73 gears, which are a nice compromise between towing power and relative efficiency. Long-tube headers feed a dual exhaust system with high-performance mufflers so it's got a great rumble out on the road, and while it's not detailed for show, the chassis really is quite clean. Flashy 17-inch wheels look awesome on a black truck and use 245/70/17 performance radials to keep them off the ground. Clean old pickups like this still represent great value, and one that can double as a hobby vehicle on weekends while still working for a living is a bargain in anyone's book. While I don't know why more Chevys than Fords seem to have survived, that only makes this 1973 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT more unique. Besides, V8 power in a black wrapper never goes out of style, especially if that wrapper has a cool stepside bed. This great-looking blue Ford has been treated well for the past 40 years and it shows. Re-sprayed recently, the paint is quite good and there's no sign that this truck ever hauled lumber or bricks during the week or pushed a plow in the winter. In fact, with the bright blue paint being close to the original hue, I'm betting that someone special-ordered this truck and kept it shined as polished as his pride-and-joy. These Fords are gaining popularity and they really are great-looking machines, rugged and tough-looking, but with enough style to look at home in a high-end restaurant parking lot. A stepside bed from an early '80s Ford F150 is a neat fit and looks like it was put there by the factory. It has been protected with a spray-in bedliner material that wraps around the rails for added protection, so you can still use this truck as designed. Of course, a bright chrome bumper, a date-coded grille, and a few chrome dress-up pieces make this truck look far more upscale than its price tag would suggest. The interior is dressed in its best formal wear, with a black bench seat, matching door panels, and new black carpets on the floor. For a little glitter, the door sills and steering wheel are also new, and there's a new dash cover up top to give it a neatly finished look. Factory instruments are joined by a column-mounted shifter, so brush up on your three-on-the-tree shifting skills. A newer AM/FM/cassette stereo lives in the original radio's location, powering a set of speakers neatly installed behind the seat. Seat-belts, heavy-duty floor mats, and an aftermarket consolette are nice features that make this entry-level truck far more livable and it would even be a joy to drive every day if that's your thing. And speaking of engine bays, the 360 cubic inch V8 under the hood looks great and runs superbly. Torquey and with a great soundtrack to accompany it, the 360 moves the pickup truck easily, empty or full. A few choice upgrades such as an Edelbrock intake and Holley carb, as well as an open-element air cleaner, all help deliver a stronger sense of urgency when you mash the accelerator. Ford Blue on the valve covers stands out like a beacon in the otherwise utilitarian engine bay, and with a recent tune-up, it starts quickly and runs superbly. Power steering and brakes mean it's easy to maneuver, and it channels power through the aforementioned 3-speed manual transmission to a 9-inch rear end with 3.25 gears inside. With the addition of the front suspension from a late 80's F150 gives this truck quad suspension and upgraded disc brakes that help this truck perform wonderfully on the road, so you shouldn't be afraid to use the truck as designed, and as long as you're under there, check out the great-sounding Flowmaster dual exhaust system, which uses turn-downs to give it an aggressive sound. The floors are remarkably solid, as you can see in the photos, and with flashy 15-inch Cragar Nomad mags and fat 255/70/15 white-letter radials, it looks extremely sporty. Now is the time to give the old Fords some credit, and few look as good as this bright blue F-100.
