I’m selling my 2005 Ford Explorer XLT (no accidents) because my parents are getting a new car and I’m getting their hand-me-down. If not for that, I’d keep using this one. I go into a lot of detail below so you won’t be surprised by anything – the car really is in great shape! It is a 2WD but unless you’re going skiing a lot, 4WD only adds maintenance expenses. The vast majority of the miles are from long-distance highway driving (i.e. low wear) due to many cross-country trips. It was never used as a daily commuter. It has been parked in a garage for all of it's life other than approximately a year in Virginia. This Explorer has only been in my family and always had servicing done on time (oil change every 5,000 miles or less, etc.). I have many of the service records although some were unfortunately stolen. Highlights from the detailed service history at the end of this listing: - Front brake pads/rotors were replaced and wheels were rotated/balanced 10 miles ago (you’re welcome!). - The rear brakes have ~13,000 miles on them so they’re still like new. - The engine drive belt and idler pulley were replaced just 3,000 miles ago. - The tires have about 20,000 miles on them, with lots of life left. - Front left fog light was replaced about 6 months ago when a rock cracked the glass. Cosmetically, the car is in great shape for the age. The inside is clean and the outside still looks great. Due to the color of the car, the scratches that do exist aren’t highly visible. I have taken photos of all damage – no surprises upon inspection! Here is a list of the items: - Driver’s removable floor mat is a bit worn where my heal rests and a bit stained. The front seats show wear in the leather but it honestly hasn't gotten any worse in the last 5 years. I can send more detailed photos if you would like. Otherwise the interior is nearly spotless without stains, etc. - Some scratches are on the left side of the front bumper. - The top of the left rear wheel well is dented but paint is still fine and since the metal already has factory bends in this area, it isn’t too noticeable. - Left driver’s side door has two thin but 18-inch scratches (I think someone took a key to it…). - Right side rear passenger door: the black rubber frame between the two pieces of glass is bent a bit because someone broke through the glass and bent the frame in the process. The glass is fully repaired and there are no leaks or other issues as a result of the damage. - There are other small scratches, as expected, due to people opening doors but there aren’t a ton of them and as you can see in the photos, the car looks great still.
