That remains to be seen, but the bottom line is that this 2003 Ford Thunderbird is still a first-class ticket and a wonderful piece of retro styling that makes everyone long for a simpler time. Ford knew what they were doing when they rolled out the 2-seater Thunderbird convertible, capturing the look and feel of the original while updating in every way. This one wears classic black, a traditional color that accentuates the long, sleek profile and offers a modern take on a classic '50s look. The dark paint accentuates the long, low profile and works better than many of the other colors offered. With just 41,223 miles showing on the clock, you know this one is in excellent shape in every way and has lived an easy life, like most Thunderbirds, as a future collectable. As such, it's never seen snow, never been wrecked, and if it's even been in the rain, it was only in an emergency because this was not a daily driver. Build quality on these cars is quite good (Ford obviously knew their halo car had better be excellent in every way) and the various parts fit together better than you'd expect and offers doors that close with a reassuringly heavy feeling. Unlike so many 2-seat convertibles, this 'Bird feels substantial. There's still a bit of chrome, mostly on the grille, and all of those details are in as-new condition, too. The black and red interior is a dramatic contrast to the relatively subtle bodywork, elegant and sporty in every way. With such low mileage, there are almost no signs of use save for a few wrinkles on the driver's seat leather, and even those might have been there when the hides were still on the cow. Black carpets are unmarked, protected by some carpeted floor mats that are bound in red piping, and the lovely two-tone leather steering wheel isn't dirty or discolored. Heck, even the shifter knob is wrapped in matching red leather! Just about everything was standard on the Thunderbird, including automatic climate control, power windows, locks, mirrors, and seats, cruise control, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo that sounds great when you're running alfresco. The big, clear gauges have a retro feel but aren't duplicates of old gauges but a modern take on a classic look, right down to the turquoise-colored pointers. A power convertible top is the one you'll use most often, but it also includes a color-matched porthole hardtop so you can use it year-round. Ford's 3.9 liter V8 engine is smooth, torquey, and utterly capable in the smooth 2-seat 'Bird. It's not made for tire-shredding performance, but if you want to hustle, it's ready and willing. Properly maintained from new, it's turn-key ready for a cross-country road trip, and with the 5-speed automatic transmission behind it, fuel economy is decent. Like the original Thunderbirds, the suspension is supple without being soggy, and the all-independent setup rarely puts a tire wrong. Big disc brakes give it a level of confidence earlier Thunderbirds would have appreciated and the dual exhaust has just the right eight-cylinder burble. This one currently wears a set of chrome Thunderbird wheels with 235/50/17 Michelin radials, and the bright wheels are the perfect complement to the black paint, making this a very flashy T-Bird indeed. Only time will tell if these are legitimate collectables, but buying a low-mileage Thunderbird in a great color combination is a great first step. The last of the C3s always seem to be silver or white or black, but this handsome dark red 1980 'Vette hits all the right buttons. Powered by a fresh ZZ4 crate motor and fitted with a handsome leather interior, this is definitely a party on wheels at a very attractive price. No worries, however, because code 76 "Dark Claret" was on the 1980 Corvette color chart and it looks awfully similar to the burgundy finish it wears today. It's not this particular 'Vette's original color, but it's a great look, deep and rich without trending towards orange, and the guys who did the respray made sure everything was smooth and straight before they started shooting. That means good gaps, no stress cracks around the headlight doors, and front and rear bumper cones that actually match the rest of the car. There are a few signs of use and some light scratches, but a lot of it would disappear with a professional buff and detail. The deep chin spoiler and ducktail spoiler out back give the Corvette a hyper-performance look that suits its personality just fine, and even after more than 30 years, it still grabs peoples' attention on the street. There's not a lot of trim on the 1980 models, but things like the shiny rocker panel trim and 'corvette' lettering on the trunk make it really stand out. Go ahead, admit it: this is the car you've wanted since you were a kid. The disco era was in full swing when this Corvette hit the streets, and the code 792 Claret leather makes the most of the fashion of the time. Fortunately, the articulated bucket seats are in reasonable condition given their age, with leather that's still pliable and now showing a comfortable, lived-in look that only leather can offer. Loaded with options like power windows and locks, A/C, a tilt/telescope wheel, cruise control, power antenna, and a rear defroster, the Corvette had finally matured into a real car that could be driven every day. Lift off the T-tops and it's an open air experience that combines the rumble of the exhaust with the whoosh of V8 acceleration, and you'll be pleased to know that they seal up tight. The fastback roofline added much-needed storage volume, and the cargo bay is nicely preserved despite that big rear window and the added sunlight (which is why there's a retractable cargo cover). The only notable upgrade is an AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo head unit that's a neat fit in the original dash. The L82 was the top motor in 1980, but that wheezer was replaced 1500 miles ago with a snarling ZZ4 350 cubic inch crate motor. Up top there's a Bowtie intake manifold and an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and with 330 horsepower on tap, it's roughly twice as powerful as it was when it was new. There's plenty of other new equipment designed to keep it in top condition, including a new alternator, belts, and hoses, making this a Corvette you can drive anywhere with confidence. It's backed by a freshly rebuilt TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and carries a set of long-tube headers and a new dual exhaust system underneath, so the soundtrack is right. Gorgeous machined aluminum wheels were original equipment and now carry fat 275/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. C3 Corvettes are popular for a reason, and you can get into this one for the price of a used Hyundai. Spend some time nailing down the details and you'll have a car that runs and looks like it should cost thousands more. With just one owner, someone obviously took exceptionally good care of it and with just one repaint several years ago, it still looks like it should cost thousands more than it does. OK, we know that the market for 1985 Corvettes is a little soft, but look at this one carefully. It's extremely affordable, and if you're looking for massive bang for the buck, this low-mileage Corvette is awfully appealing. The color is Black Rose from the 1992 Corvette color chart, and this C4 wears it especially well, accentuating the wedge-shaped profile that was still 100% Corvette but a big change from the aging C3. Given its history, the paint is in outstanding condition as you'd expect, but perhaps you've forgotten just how good a C4 can look. The finish is glossy, the composite panels are super straight (it's not like they dent or rust), and the doors open and close with the characteristic C4 thunk that sounds impressively solid. Even the weather-stripping is in excellent condition so this 'Vette seals up well and whispers through the air at highway speeds. The only notable modification is a set of blue-dot lenses in the stock taillights, and it seems to work rather well with the dark purple paint. The gray leather interior is just as nice as the exterior, with optional power articulated bucket seats that were state-of-the-art in 1985. C4 fans will find it easy to get comfortable here and as you'd expect, everything is in very good condition. The leather looks well-maintained save for some very minor stretching on the driver's lower cushion, and the carpets and door panels are quite nice. The digital dashboard was very exciting news for 1985 and remarkably, it's fully functional with bright graphics and complete displays. Just about everything was standard for the Corvette, including power windows and locks, A/C, cruise control, and the familiar Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo in the center stack. There's also a useful trip computer that still does its thing, and a surprising amount of storage capacity in the hatch area, and yes, the gas struts that hold up the hatch still work! The only engine available in the 1985 Corvette was the indestructible torque factory known as the L98. With so few miles on the clock, it's barely broken-in, and is instantly recognizable for its long-tube intake runners that are the key to its impressive torque production. It's also highly adaptable to modifications, but aside from the K&N air filter, this one remains 100% stock and as the factory delivered it with most of its original equipment still in place. Anything that needed maintenance got it, and it runs superbly today. It also carries the desirable Doug Nash 4+3 manual transmission, which feels like a good old 4-speed but offers overdrive cruising for long-distance comfort. Brakes are powerful, the Z51 suspension is track-ready, and you'll recall how blown away you were when you first saw those ultra-wide 255/50/16 Goodyears in 1985. Too cool! Oh, yeah, the stock wheels have been chrome plated to give it a custom look that works rather well on the early C4. A fast, fun 'Vette that will entertain the crowds with its awesome look, gets you a guaranteed invite to all the big Corvette events, and costs less than a used Honda. How can you go wrong? With a 500 horsepower V10, every trick BMW knew about going fast, and a drop-top body style, this is the ultimate BMW performance car, now available for about 20% of its original sticker price. If you never thought A-list performance would be within your reach, guess again. This BMW is shockingly nice for what it costs, and no, of course it's not perfect, but it's got the right colors, everything works, and yes, it really is as fast as you think it is. Basic black always works best on these big German hammers, and the car is intimidating from any angle without having to be brash about it. The 6-Series always looked best as a convertible, and the hyper-aggressive M makeover only accentuates everything that we love about it. The black paint is in good shape, and it looks as though the nose might have been repainted at some point, so no worries there. Panel fit is exemplary, just as you'd expect from BMW's flagship, it remains eminently tasteful. A custom carbon fiber chin spoiler appears to be the lone modification, and it blends in seamlessly with the overall design. This is still a very imposing car on the highway. The black leather interior is sumptuous and technologically advanced. The seats show modest wear, just as you'd expect for the age and mileage, and, of course, being in the sun all the time. The deep bucket seats hold you in place during spirited driving and nobody else does a driver-oriented cockpit quite like BMW. The gauges are big and easy to read, the pedal/wheel/shifter relationship is perfect, and every feature you could imagine in 2007 was standard equipment. This car has BMW's DSG automatic transmission with paddle shifters, so it's got very quick reflexes but is user-friendly enough for your mom to drive it, and even the iDrive system is friendly enough once you get the hang of it. Power windows, locks, mirrors, and seats are standard, plus automatic climate control, cruise control, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system with a back-up camera. The carpets show very little wear and the convertible top raises and lowers itself with the touch of a button and seals up remarkably well. The trunk isn't huge, but it's well-shaped and looks like new. A 5.0 liter V10 engine was the heart of the M6, a bespoke powerplant designed to make BMW the king of the Autobahn. In truth, it's incredibly docile given its massive performance envelope, and if you never stomped on the loud pedal, you'll never even suspect that there's such ferocity living within. It has been recently serviced by a BMW dealer, including a new battery and alternator, so it's ready to rock. It has not been modified in any way, so that's another sign that it's led an easy life, and it runs and drives like it should. Twin air filter assemblies feed the engine as if it were two inline-fives, and the V10 exhaust note is unique, a tenor wail that's quite appropriate, especially when the top is down. The suspension is competent, so it's firm, but in that uniquely German way that isn't abusive, and the brakes are positively massive discs at all four corners. It's fitted with gorgeous 5-spoke alloys that really show off the vented and cross-drilled rotors and carry recent Kumho performance radials. You haven't experienced performance and refinement like this, and certainly not at this price point. A verifiable super car available for the price of a Hyundai, how cool is that? Chevy always pulls out the stops in the color department for their anniversary models, and they're always a subtle and sophisticated balance to the in-your-face graphics of the pace cars. In 2003, the 50th anniversary, they brewed up a lovely burgundy metallic color that looks like candy and dares you to touch its impossibly smooth surface. With under 15,000 miles on the odometer and obviously purchased as more of an investment than a daily driver, this Corvette is in immaculate, showroom-fresh condition throughout. Even the usual areas like the chin and rockers haven't been abused by the rigors of the daily grind. Only a few smallish 50th anniversary badges adorn the flanks, but all Corvette fans will recognize this car from a mile away simply due to the gorgeous color. And while cosmetic add-ons for C5 Corvettes are a major industry all by themselves, this one is refreshingly devoid of goofy dress-up stuff from the aftermarket. You want factory fresh, this is it. Anniversary models could be dressed any way you wanted it as long as it included a "Shale" leather interior. More anniversary emblems and embroidery make sure you know you've got a special Corvette, and all the options were available. This particular 'Vette includes power sport seats, dual-range climate control, a heads-up display, and the F45 adjustable suspension system that really offers the best of both worlds: comfort and performance. And as you'd expect, the interior is virtually unmarked with matching carpets that have never been dirty and leather seating surfaces that don't even look like they've been tried on for size. The bright instruments flash to life with the turn of the key, doing a little sweep of the dials just to show you that everything is working, and the floor mats include matching embroidered Corvette logos. The trunk area is well-shaped and useful, with another matching carpeted floor mat, and unlike earlier Corvettes, there's plenty of room to store your gear under the rear hatch. All Anniversary Corvettes were powered by the aluminum LS1 that has become the foundation of GM performance in the 21st century. With plenty of horsepower and torque on tap, it easily fulfilled the Corvette's performance image, but the smoothness, durability, and efficiency were big bonuses. Like all small block Chevy motors, they're insanely mod-friendly, but this one remains 100% stock, right down to the mufflers and air filter because, obviously, investments are best kept OEM. Lots of black plastic defines the C5 engine bay, but even details like the raw aluminum castings are still bright and shiny, proof that this Corvette has lived a sheltered life. The standard 4-speed automatic overdrive transaxle shifts faster than you can, and with a limited slip in the rear end, it hooks up hard. Disc brakes and forged aluminum wheels live at all four corners, and it sits on a set of correctly-sized 17- and 18-inch Michelin Pilot radials. Complete with all the relevant documentation, from the window sticker to the original manuals, this is a car that future generations will continue to appreciate. It's a one-owner original car with just 33,552 actual miles, a fantastic color combination, and a great-running 340 cubic inch V8. If you like them untouched, this one should really get you excited. You may as well get a high-impact color on your Mopar muscle, because that's one of their most defining features. This one wears its original FY1 Top Banana Yellow, which is shockingly well preserved. Thanks to an owner who has always cherished the car and treated it as something of value, the paint looks incredible. Sure, there are a few minor signs of age and maybe a touch-up here and there, but the overall presentation is exactly what you want from a top-grade survivor. Chrysler got the look exactly right with their A-body siblings and the Challenger ideally embodies the long hood/short deck profile that just screams high performance. Most Challengers in 1970 were like this, no spoilers or blacked-out hoods, making it refreshing in its honesty, although there are a set of '340 Magnum' emblems on the twin nostril hood and a black bumble bee stripe on the tail. As a result, I'm afraid you're just not going to be able to keep a low profile with this car. The front and rear bumpers are in excellent shape and so is the tinted windshield, and it's all original. The black interior is also completely original and in good shape. The seat covers and carpets are showing their age, with a few splits in the driver's chair, but the door panels, console, and dash pad are really quite nice. Simulated wood covers the console and instrument panel and looks quite convincing on the steering wheel, and for a convertible, it's pretty impressive that nothing is significantly faded or cracked. All the gauges are fully operational and have bright, crisp markings that belie their age. The original AM radio is still in the dash, and yes, it works! Overhead, the original black top uses the Chrysler exclusive long-grain vinyl that's almost impossible to replicate today, and remarkably, it has no splits or tears and the glass rear window is in great shape. The trunk is also neatly finished with the original mat and what appears to be the original space-saver spare tire with jack and inflator bottle. Cool! Not a big block screamer, but I think you'll be impressed by the way the original, numbers-matching 340 cubic inch V8 runs. As a low-mileage car, it has obviously never been opened up and the factory Hemi Orange paint still looks fantastic. Aside from a little fading and a few greasy parts, it's shockingly clean, evidence of decades of careful maintenance by a fastidious owner. It starts easily, idles well, and believe it or not, those are even the original hoses! Talk about authenticity! Power steering makes it easy to handle and the TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission powers an 8.75-inch rear end, which is showcased by a spotless undercarriage that's never seen snowy weather. Factory Rallye wheels wear 245/60/15 Goodyear radials that are likely only the second set of tires this car has ever worn. This 1965 roadster carries a great-running small block V8, a 4-speed gearbox, and single-family ownership for the past 40 years. As far as investments go, it's hard to beat an investment you can drive. This isn't one of those trailer-queen 'Vettes that you're afraid to drive, either. Refinished a few years ago, it was switched from its original code F Nassau Blue to bright code U Rally Red, once again proving the old adage that there's nothing quite like a bright red Corvette. The Sting Ray was one of the most influential designs of the decade, and even forty-five years later, it remains instantly recognizable and still resonates with hobbyists. This '65 hits the sweet spot, with a nice patina that shows well and looks great for the car's age, without the hassles that come from trying to maintain a show car's finish. At any Corvette show, you can spot the guys who drive their cars pretty easily: they're the ones with the giant grins on their faces, and you could join them without worries in this one. It's not perfect, but a perfect Corvette is kind of an oxymoron. No, Corvette are blue jeans and plain white T-shirts, and perfect just isn't part of the legend. The body tag says the interior is "standard," but the lovely and comfortable black buckets are anything but ordinary. They have a lovely patina and signs of gentle use that make it ever so inviting to slide behind that woodgrained wheel. Of course, there's no damage, no split seams, no scuffs on the seating surfaces, so if you want to show it, you'll have nothing to be ashamed of, that's for sure! The gauges are in good shape, although the original tach is supplanted by a column-mounted unit that was necessary due to the upgrade to an HEI distributor (the original tach is cable-driven). Overhead there's a white convertible top that's in good order, while the carpets show almost no wear thanks to matching Corvette-logo floor mats protecting them. There's an original AM radio in the center with its unusual vertical orientation, and there's just nothing cooler than that bright chrome shifter for the 4-speed underneath. This 'Vette carries a replacement 350 cubic inch V8, which is a neat fit thanks to the ubiquity of the small block Chevy. It's not the car's original engine, of course, but during the restoration, it was rebuilt and now shows just about 5500 miles. Finished in correct Chevy Orange with a stock-looking air cleaner and finned cast aluminum valve covers, it has a functional look. As I mentioned, there's a modern HEI ignition system and a dual reservoir master cylinder on the power brake system, which appear to be the lone visible upgrades. The 4-speed shifts with typical Muncie precision, and the four wheel disc brakes that became standard equipment give this car impressive stopping power. There's a recent chambered exhaust system with polished tips, and the chassis is extremely clean. Refreshingly, this one also carries stock Rally wheels with 205/70/15 whitewall radials. Coming out of long-term ownership where it's been with the same family for decades, this is a beloved car. If you've been dreaming of a C2 Corvette roadster, this one is a fine choice that will appreciate as you enjoy it. Well, it's got all the right ingredients: great colors, excellent preservation, just 17,446 original miles, the top-of-the-line powerplant, and every available option. And oh, yeah, one other thing: it's very affordable today. You probably can't get a nicer luxury car for less money than this. The Eldorado Touring Coupe was rather awkwardly branded the "ETC" but that does nothing to diminish its handsome look. The long hood, short deck theme is still in evidence, but the sleek roofline with the almost fastback rear window gives it an updated look that was perfect for the late '90s. Basic black is the quintessential Cadillac color, and on the Touring Coupe, almost everything was covered in it: grille, bumpers, mirrors, door handles, everything. You do get a chrome band around the center of the car and a white pinstripe to break it up, but this is one sinister yet elegant Cadillac. Of course, with so few miles, it's in excellent condition, with a deep gloss that proves that you got your money's worth with a $50,000 Cadillac. The chin hasn't been beaten up by parking lot curbs and driveway aprons and panel gaps are excellent throughout. We never realized just how good Cadillacs were back in the 1990s. Black leather lines the interior of the Touring Coupe, and it's arguably one of GM's very best designs. A sweeping instrument panel with Zebrano wood inserts makes it feel airy despite the acres of black hides, and there's a center console that helps to warm the place up a bit. Every single option was included on this car, including power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a trip computer neatly integrated into the instrument panel display. The leather seats are in almost new condition, the carpets are unmarked thanks to heavy-duty mats, and the wood trim has a brilliant gloss that matches the bodywork. Everything works, of course, and it's so quiet in here that you can hear the minute differences in the AM/FM/CD stereo system compared to your other cars. The back seat is big enough for real-sized adults and the trunk is Cadillac huge with a cargo net and built-in CD changer. Cadillac's "Northstar" 4.6 liter V8 engine was a big deal in the 1990s, representing the brand's first attempt at a truly world-class powerplant. With 300 horsepower on tap and an equal amount of torque, it moves the luxurious coupe like a muscle car, not a luxury barge. They've also proven to be bulletproof reliable, and this one has a lot of life left in it, with just over 17,000 original miles on it. The engine bay is neatly dressed and it's all original, of course. It starts with a muscular bark from the dual exhaust pipes and thanks to a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, pulls down surprisingly good fuel economy out on the road. The all-independent suspension was tuned a little sportier than the standard Eldorado but it's still smooth and luxurious, and standard 4-wheel disc brakes instill confidence. Optional chrome alloy wheels look brilliant against the black paint and are fitted with brand new 235/60/16 Vogue gold line tires, and you know how expensive those are. You'd be surprised how much fun this Eldorado is to drive, and the luxury features stack up well with today's cars. If you want a high-quality V8 luxury car at an economy car price, good luck finding one nicer than this. Who wouldn't love such a beast in their garage? So make this the year that you finally get into the game with this very affordable Corvette roadster. Embodying all that's great about the C3 design: chrome bumpers, side pipes, a folding top, and a great color, it's also just right for cruising and having fun. Feel like taking the long way home from work? This is your ideal companion. It's happy to oblige, since it's not some over-restored trailer queen, but instead a nicely preserved, honest car that wears its minor marks with pride, because it has been driven. The fiberglass is in great shape with no noteworthy issues, so no worries in that department, and although the repaint was done several years ago (it was originally code 976 Lemans Blue), you'll never be ashamed to be seen behind the wheel. The fiberglass underneath is in good order with only a few very minor cracks around the headlights in the usual spots, but nothing that requires attention. The rumble of the exhaust matches its high-performance look, and no matter where you go, you'll probably find that this car engenders respect for its performance capabilities. A black interior is always the right choice with red bodywork, and the Corvette delivered a state-of-the-art driving experience in 1969. The interior was replaced a few years ago, because it, too, was originally blue, but all the replacement pieces are correct Corvette items. As a color change, there are a few original parts that were repainted to match the black upholstery, and they might be showing some age, but with a little TLC, this could really be a first-rate 'Vette inside. The important stuff is all there, including a chrome shifter managing the 4-speed between the seats and a newer AM/FM/CD stereo right in front of it. The gauges remain in original condition, with sharp markings and clear lenses, making the driver's seat a very enjoyable place to spend some time. And note that this car includes both a black convertible top as well as the optional removable hardtop, a highly desirable and somewhat rare option. Tilt the hood forward and you'll find a rebuilt 350 that isn't pretending to be something it is. Instead, it's a nice-looking piece that was built to run, with finned Z/28 style valve covers, a chrome air cleaner, and a bit of chrome on the accessories. It runs like the best small blocks do, with a snarky exhaust note compliments of the headers and side pipes, and if you were really picky, spend a Saturday detailing it to really take it up a notch. Power steering makes this a very user-friendly Corvette, even around town and it still retains its original ignition shielding, something that got tossed on a lot of these cars. The chassis shows no signs of trouble and plenty of evidence that this car was never used in inclement weather up north. New hardware on the brakes and suspension suggest that it has been serviced in the not-too-distant past and it wears classic Rally wheels with fat 255/60/15 Firestone radials at all four corners. For a nice summer toy, you can scarcely do better than a vintage Corvette. Reliable, fun, and affordable, this one is ready to follow you home. I'll wager that the original buyer paid well over sticker price to own it, because it represented the rebirth of a legend. If there's a late-model Challenger that will be collectable in the future, it's probably one like this: early car, beautifully maintained, completely stock. The bright Hemi Orange paint with carbon-fiber-look stripes was a combination right off the show car that debuted in 2006. The carbon wasn't real, of course, but this was the car every Mopar guy wanted to own as they impatiently counted down the days until it was available in the showroom. This one has lived a good life but hasn't been tucked away, which can have its own set of issues. Instead, it shows just 32,728 original miles, so you know it's been a fair-weather toy, not a daily driver. The finish is in good condition with a few signs of age and use, but there's just no mistaking the intent of a car that looks like this. It was built to drive. The look as aged quite well and you'll surely find that everyone still stops to watch this Challenger drive by. The chin spoiler isn't all beat up by steep driveway aprons, the rockers haven't been blasted by debris, and you knew everyone's going to dig the HEMI badges on the hood. Add in a set of chrome exhaust tips, subtle SRT8 badging, and a surprisingly modest deck lid spoiler and you end up with one of the most successful pony car rebirths of the modern era. The SRT8 showcased everything Chrysler could do for a driver, and based on the 300's platform, it's a lot more spacious than you'd expect. The deeply bolstered black leather seats have grippy inserts and an orange stripe, and only the driver's seat shows any wear. You also got a fat steering wheel, big, round gauges with racy electro-luminescent faces, and a quick-shifting automatic transmission. Of course, on the flagship, everything was standard, including A/C, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, cruise control, and a cool touch screen entertainment system with navigation. This one also offers an optional sunroof, which is a somewhat rare option, and the seats are heated, which makes a big difference on cool mornings. Everything works, there are no issues, and you can get in this car today and drive to California if you'd like. That's the power of modern technology. By this point, the 6.1 liter HEMI V8 really needs no introduction. For the SRT8, they punched it out a bit to add the kind of low-end torque muscle car fans expect, and not even a vintage 426 Hemi could keep up with it. These cars are insanely popular and easy to modify, but this one remains completely stock, which is always what you want when you're buying a high-performance machine. The engine bay is tidy, highlighting the taller 6.1 aluminum intake and black coil covers, and you can see that it's never done a commute in the winter weather. It starts quickly, idles properly, and has the kind of big torque that most folks can't understand until they've driven a car like this. The transmission bangs off quick shifts when you're hustling but is unobtrusive when you're going easy, and the suspension is remarkably livable given its insanely high limits. Big Brembo disc brakes keep it safe and the factory alloy wheels and 255/45/20 Continental tires are in excellent condition. Still an apex predator, this Challenger offers a lot of performance for a very reasonable price. You want more tradition with your retro-styled convertible? Or maybe you're just not attracting enough attention at the local cruise night. Well, this 2005 Ford Thunderbird 50th Anniversary Edition neatly solves all those problems. It's one of 1500 built by Ford to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the T-Bird, and it's got a lot of unique features that make it a strong future collectable. Yeah, there's a lot of gold, but it totally works here. Even if it's not your thing, you can see that Ford's latest Thunderbird can still pull it off. All the Anniversary models were given a special Cashmere "Tri-Coat" paint job that's almost iridescent when you see it in the sun. The sheetmetal is factory Thunderbird and the paint is beautifully preserved, so it's just dazzling in person. With only 19,349 original miles, it still looks fresh and as I said, it definitely attracts attention, particularly with the ladies. In truth, every one of the Anniversary cars was sold before they even hit showrooms, such was the fever for a future collectable, and I'm sure you'll have people asking you what color it is when you're stopped at red lights or picking up some groceries on a warm summer evening. A few chrome accents really stand out against the gold metallic paint, as do the brilliant red taillights, which still look like new. The interior got a light makeover with some matching Stone highlights, done in leather, of course. Most of the upholstery is factory-issue Ford leather, but Anniversary models got black carpets with matching floor mats piped in Stone leather, a leather-wrapped wheel and matching Stone shifter knob, and the whole theme fits together quite well. Nothing was altered beyond the colors, so all of Ford's engineering and technology, not to mention reliability, remains intact, making this a car that you can still comfortably drive every day without a second thought. Everything was standard, from power windows and locks to automatic climate control and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system that more than fills the cockpit with sound. White-faced retro instruments and Thunderbird logos with turquoise inlays are more connections to the past, and everything works like it should. You'll also note gold-toned scuff plates and a special plaque in the glove box commemorating the occasion. The trunk is untouched and ultra-clean, while the tan convertible top stows in seconds with just the touch of a button. There's also a matching Cashmere porthole hardtop, which, to my eye, completes the look even better than the canvas one. The same 4.0-liter DOHC V8 that lives in all the Thunderbirds lives in this one, too, and it's reliable and smooth, exactly what you want from a grand-touring machine. Capable of eating up hundreds of miles without complaint, but entertaining to drive around town with a great V8 bark out back, it's the right engine for this car. It is, of course, 100% stock right down to the air filter and exhaust system, which insures reliability and comfort because this car is all about being seen. A 5-speed automatic transmission is unobtrusive and the all-independent suspension soaks up bumps without losing its agility. Anniversary cars were pretty stock under the skin, although they did get those special chrome alloys, which wear 235/50/17 Michelin radials. No, it's not for everyone, but if you want your convertible to be a little out of the ordinary, this is the 'Bird that belongs in your garage. This 1984 Ford Thunderbird FILA edition captures the era and the car quite nicely, and you'll be pleased to learn that it's also a great car to drive. The bright white paint with a black lower cladding as a distinctive look in 1984 and is still every bit as striking today. It was actually repainted a few years ago and they wisely chose to not only keep the FILA's special color combination, but replaced the distinctive red and black pinstripes that run the length of the body. It's got a few signs of use since then, but it's pretty obvious that someone has always treated this car as something special and the sheetmetal underneath is in great shape. And speaking of shapes, this aerodynamic Thunderbird was a game-changer, ushering in the aerodynamic age at Ford and signaling to the rest of the industry that boxy cars were over. Add in a color-coded grille, blacked-out trim, and a few well-chosen Thunderbird badges from a later T-Bird, and you get one of the most visually striking and distinctive cars of the '80s. Even 30 years later, this car is dramatic. The original interior is in good condition, showing the usual wear on the outer bolsters on the driver's seat, but everything else looks pretty good for its age. Buckets were standard equipment in the Thunderbird (who would want a bench seat anyway?) and the supportive chairs are still comfortable today. The FILA edition came with just about every option, including A/C, power locks, windows, and seats, a tilt steering column, and cruise control, making it a fine choice today. The center console is festooned with buttons and switches, giving the car a very high-tech look, but it's all quite stock, from the factory gauges to the AM/FM/cassette stereo in the center of the dash. The A/C still blows cold and you'll probably find that you feel right at home within a few moments of climbing aboard. In back, there's a good-sized trunk that still carries its original space-saver spare tire. Ford's venerable 5.0 liter V8 was one of the engine choices in 1984, and it's probably the one you want today. Making the same kind of torque as the one they were throwing in the Mustang, the FILA Thunderbird is surprisingly quick and gives you a great whack of acceleration when you step on the loud pedal. The engine bay is tidy but original, and unlike so many other 5.0-equipped vehicles, it's completely stock. The 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission is a willing partner, with quick downshifts and an easy-cruising overdrive gear plus 2.73 gears out back for pretty decent fuel economy. The same Fox-platform hardware that underpins the Mustang is found here, so it's confident but comfortable and the hardware is virtually bulletproof. There's a recent exhaust system that has a nice V8 burble to it and the original alloy wheels have been refinished to match the body, just as it was when it was new. Recent 195/70/14 blackwall radials give it just the right look for 1984. With only 2532 FILA edition Thunderbirds built, this is among the most collectable. It's also a very reasonably-priced way to get into the hobby with a car that's a lot of fun to drive. This is a real-deal, documented E-code 1957 Thunderbird. That means dual quads atop the 312 cubic inch V8, and with that in mind, the restoration was carried out to an extremely high standard. In a sea of early Thunderbirds, THIS is the one to own. It shouldn't surprise you that this car was restored to compete on the show field, and we've never seen a 2-seat 'Bird as highly detailed as this one. They stuck to the original specifications with this one, giving it a coat of code F Starmist Blue paint, as it was new, although the quality and shine are simply astounding. For many, the '57 Thunderbird is a favorite, with its more pronounced fins that were a part of the 1950s automotive landscape. It's been in the current owner's hands since 1979 and since a full restoration about 10 years ago, it has hardly been driven so it's very fresh. The chrome was treated to show-grade refinishing, and every single component on the car was buffed and shined before it was reinstalled, so it glitters no matter where you look. It's also loaded with other unique features, including a dealer-installed continental kit, original radio antenna on the deck lid, and beautifully fitted fender skirts. This is a very impressive car. The interior is restored to the same standards using correct two-tone blue vinyl that does a pretty good impersonation of leather. The wide bench looks more like two close-coupled buckets and makes the sporty T-Bird strictly a 2-seater. Everything inside has been refinished to show standards, including the gorgeous door panels, exceptional steering wheel, and precisely detailed gauges. It's all quite correct, from the neatly clustered instruments to the floor shifter for the Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. For show purposes, there are no "updates" or modifications to any of the interior systems, and even the original AM radio remains in its engine-turned panel in the dash. The spare tire moved back into the trunk for 1957, and even with the continental kit, this one is neatly finished with a correct reproduction mat and full-sized spare tire with jack assembly. And yes, don't worry, this one comes with two tops, a color-matched light blue hardtop with porthole and a beautifully fitted navy blue canvas convertible top with a crystal clear rear window. As nice as it is, this Thunderbird's status is almost entirely due to the E-code engine under the hood, complete with dual quads. With 270 horsepower, it was a neat experiment in creating a Corvette-eater that could still cruise the streets of Beverly Hills. Topped by the distinctive air cleaner, the 312 cubic inch V8 was fully rebuilt to stock specs and fully detailed with a dress-up kit. Every detail is correct, from the hardware securing the valve covers to the reproduction battery, and it runs as it should with a healthy bark from the dual exhaust. You can see bright red engine paint on the oil pan from below, and take a few minutes to enjoy the fully detailed chassis that's ready for the most demanding judges. Both power steering and power brakes make this E-Bird easy to handle and for style, nothing compares to a set of chrome wire wheels wearing 205/75/14 Coker Classic wide whitewall radials. There are only a few Thunderbirds that are more desirable than this, and they all have superchargers. If you've been looking for the one of these to complete your collection, this might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Learning from the previous two years, Ford substantially revised the T-Bird, adding some small fins, enlarging the grille opening, and moving the spare tire back inside the trunk. This lovely Colonial White 'Bird offers a quality older restoration, a rare 3-speed manual transmission, two tops, and a true '50s feel. You simply can't go wrong with white paint and a black and white interior, and this T-Bird is beautifully finished in code E Colonial White (it was originally code Q Thunderbird Bronze with a Colonial White top). Bodywork is quite good thanks to a bare-metal restoration, with straight panels and beautiful attention to detail where it matters: note how neatly the taillight end caps fit, how crisp the character line along the side of the body appears, and the incredibly tight gaps all around. Somehow the paint shop gave the modern finish a soft shine that looks straight out of the Ford factory in 1957, but with a durability that gives it long-term durability that's still in good shape. Other details, such as the turquoise-inlaid Thunderbird badges, the cool rear bumper with integrated exhaust outlets, and the stainless trim on the fender skirts have all been restored. This is a very clean car that's easy to like. That two-tone black and white interior was restored at the same time, and it captures the original look in just about every way. Ornate door panels offer machine-turned panels that match the dash and a stylish armrest that gives the cockpit a wrap-around feel. The gauges are probably in original condition and we note that the needle on the tach has fallen off and the speedo isn't working, but the faces are in good order. The original Town & Country radio lives in the dash and still works, which is always a pleasant find in a vintage car. Correct black carpets and color-coordinated white seat belts indicate that someone cared about doing this car right, and as with the bodywork, fit and finish are nicely done. Overhead there's both a folding convertible top stashed behind the seats as well as the Thunderbird's famous "porthole" hardtop. In 1957, if you wanted a 3-speed manual transmission, you got the C-code 292 cubic inch 2-barrel V8, which was rated at 212 horsepower. With good mid-range punch and a flat torque curve, it's an easy cruiser with moves more like a muscle car than a luxury car. Up top, there's a traditional chrome air cleaner that inhales through the fully functional hood scoop, Ford Red paint on the block, and proper Thunderbird finned valve covers that are likely the prettiest ever made. For the most part, it's quite stock under the hood, with notable upgrades such as an Optima battery and a 12-volt alternator hidden down low. The exhaust system is muted yet muscular and there's a fresh gas tank hanging out back so no worries in that regard. The chassis is largely original, so it's not detailed for show, and wears a set of stock steel wheels, original hubcaps, and 205/75/14 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall radials. Iconic, fun to drive, and a solid place to park some cash for a while, this '57 Thunderbird is everybody's favorite slice of the 1950s. They bring smiles to the faces of everyone who sees them, they're wonderful to drive, and are the stars of every car show they attend. So why not take this pretty 1957 'Bird home and find out what all the fuss is about? An older restoration, this Thunderbird has a classic look of comfort, as if the car and its owner were travelling partners for many years. The bright Colonial White may remind you of Suzanne Sommers in "American Graffiti" (although hers was a '56) and paired with the black and white interior, it's a look that has always been in fashion and always will be. Bodywork is nicely done, good enough to show with pride at the local cruise night, but not so over-restored that you pack it in when the sun goes behind a cloud. I'm especially impressed by how well the fender skirts fit, which is often a problem area on these cars, and with the fuel filler door moving to the quarter panel, the deck lid fits well and doesn't leak into the trunk. Clearly a good amount of cash was tied up in the chrome work, including the front grille and the unique rear bumper with exhaust openings under the jet-like taillights. If there's a more pure statement of 1950s style, I don't know what it might be. Inside, the clean black and white upholstery is both sporty and elegant, almost like a tuxedo, and exactly the way Ford designers intended for their personal luxury roadster. Correct vinyl covers the power bench seat using the original ribbed pattern, and matching black carpets have been piped in black vinyl for a tailored look. The dash offers an engine-turned face that was the standard high-performance look in decades past, wrapping into the door panels that are simply gorgeous. Accessories include power seat, aftermarket A/C that's fully functional, and an original Town and Country AM radio in the center of the dash. The A/C uses an under-dash unit for a period-correct look, and the gauges appear to be in good original condition with only a bit of fading on the needles. Interestingly, you could order a soft top OR a hardtop with your base Thunderbird, but getting both was optional, so this one carries only a "porthole" hardtop in matching Colonial White. The trunk is finished with a correct mat, and with 1957's larger trunk, there's room for a full-sized spare, which you should be able to track down without a lot of trouble. In 1957, the Thunderbird was running 312 cubic inches in the Y-block V8 and making a cool 245 horsepower with a 4-barrel carburetor. That chrome air cleaner inhales through the functional hood scoop, an early version of ram air, and matching chrome valve covers are some of the most attractive pieces ever installed on an American car. The bright red engine has seen some time on the road, but isn't that how you prefer your cars, full sorted and ready to enjoy? The modern A/C compressor is a neat fit and works hard to stay out of sight, but otherwise it's quite stock under the hood. Power steering and power brakes are always welcome additions to the equipment roster and the transmission is a 3-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic. The wheels are beautiful reproduction Kelsey-Hayes chrome wires (not just hubcaps) and wear a set of newer 205/70/14 whitewall radials. The Thunderbird is one of those rare cars that can be purchased, enjoyed, and later sold for about the same money. How many other cars can you enjoy practically for free?
